Guest Reviews
- Andrew Downey (4/5): To quote an old TV add ... Not happy Jan :( - Nothing to say ... We couldn't find anything positive about this property except, at a push, the quiet :( For a place that claims to be a 'bed and breakfast', it was very disappointing! Sure, you got a little extra (a couple of prepackaged pancakes) over a normal continental breakfast in a motel but ... Didn't even have drinkable water on tap, just filtered ... if you went outside to collect it!
- JENNY (10/5): We had half the property to ourselves, it was lovely & quiet, my husband said it would good we we had some bathrobes - We loved every thing, the hosts are excellent communicators There nothing not to like
- Theresa (9/5): Lovely to be in the countryside. - The position was beautiful. Loved having the electric blanket, very thoughtful.
The owners were delightful and helpful. Nothing.

- Angus (8/5): A cosy weekend destination - Absolutely lovely rustic country charm. Decor was lovely. Very Cosy atmosphere. Extremely attentive and gracious hosts. Obvious care for their B&B. King room was spacious with plenty of room to spread out as a couple. Bedding was soft and comfy. Rooms in good clean condition. Water pressure and temp in shower very nice. Queen room looked very cosy, not too small, a good set up for an over night stay or if not planning to stick around in the day. Shared living area cosy with plenty to keep you busy on a rainy day. Lovely kitchenette with microwave and kettle and plenty of tea and good options for a simple brekkie. BBQ available to cook up a meal on, used it mainly to make eggs for brekkie. Plenty of way to heat or cool the rooms. Hosts not bothered by coming and going.
Single Undercover carpark attached to house available, very handy for unpacking car. Location central to some great spots for visiting. King bed is actually two singles, sometimes separated while sleeping, not too much of a bother, but good to know if you cuddle your partner while sleeping. Walls are thin, easy to hear what is happening in adjacent rooms.
- Rachael (8/5): Lovely hosts who’ve been running their traditional style BnB for 3 decades! Incredibly comfy bed, warm, cosy atmosphere. - The lovely hosts, country charm of the property, having a wonderful experience that you never get at a roadside motel. It’s hard to fault it. Don’t be concerned about the slightly brown water from the spa taps. Hillview Oak is a remote farm that uses bore water. It didn’t concern my partner and I, but those who don’t understand farm life might not be so understanding.
- David (9/5): Stopover - We felt very comfortable and welcomed. Nothing really
- Ranasinghe (5/5): Great location and decent breakfast, but bathroom cleanliness was poor - Breakfast was okay, and the location was good. While the location was great, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathroom. It didn't quite meet the standard I expected for the stay.
- Leila (10/5): Excellent friendly helpful service. Thanks so much guys. Would love to stay again -
- Rodger (7/5): The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed seeing a few old pubs in the area. - Breakfast was help yourself to Cereal, Toast and fresh juice and hot drinks.
Location was amazing although a bit off the beaten track, the drive through the country side made it all worthwhile That it was 50km away from the Hume Hwy
- Karen (10/5): - Location, friendly but respectful of privacy, lovely rooms and thoughtful facilities. Would definitely stay again.
- Sonia (7/5): Great place for a stopover on our way back from Melbourne - Very homely and very comfy bed! Nothing
- Cassie (10/5): -
- Gavin (8/5): Comfortable nights rest and friendly host - Charming and comfortable with access to the lounge and dining area. Great local dinner options. The bed was a bit short for me. I’m 6’2”
- Ian (10/5): Warm and comfortable. Lovely friendly hosts! - After driving for 5 hours in pouring rain it was great to find we had parking undercover for our very wet motorcycle and very warm welcome by Marie. The hosts, Marie and Irvine were kind enough to drive us to dinner as there is no option but to drive. We had a wonderful evening with great stories. Loved our stay. Would definitely recommend for home away from home in the country.
- Chris (8/5): Great Value, lovely location, great value - Very comfortable. Lovely rural location Nothing
- D (6/5): Overall beautiful and peaceful place to stay. - We felt Wellcome and made comfortable The spa was to dirty to use, probably dew to water in area, mould around/filters.
- Sandra (9/5): Superb -
- Bernard (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (8/5): Comfortable and welcoming. ☺️ - Oak Hill is a quaint, quiet bnb. The host Marie, was very friendly. If you’re looking for accomodation that has an old world feel, you’ll find it here. The facilities are somewhat dated but it is comfortable. If you are with Optus, you will have no phone reception in the area, so will need to set the address into the GPS before losing service as it can be tricky to find. There is WiFi at the property.
- Lynettes (6/5): Lovely elderly couple running the place. Pleasant stay ,except for the breakfast - Wonderful elderly couple who are working very hard to make sure you have a comfortable stay . The self serve breakfast. The food provided for breakfast.
Given the long distances from the nearest town , the limited facilities to prepare an evening were disappointing. Little room in the fridge for the little food I bought
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were so easy to talk to and like staying with family, made to feel so comfortable
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - A proper bed and breakfast with lovely hosts Marie and Irvine. The room was large and private so we felt like we had a whole house. Great dinner at the Jingellic pub just 10 minutes away.
- Tammy (8/5): It was a wonderful experience with great hospitality and all we needed for the night - Roomy and very hospitable
- Raffaele (2/5): Glad to leave there. - Leaving Very run down with no current attention to or maintenance of facilities. There was no laundry or any other service provided during our 3 night stay..
- Mark (9/5): Serenity beautiful views. - Breakfast, serenity and great conversation with owners. All was great for me.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sean (10/5): Overnight at Oakhill BnB. - Super friendly hosts, Irvine and Marie were very welcoming and provided a comfortable stay for this hiker to escape an impending thunderstorm while walking the Hume and Hovell Track. .
- Bezawada (1/5): Bad - The owner of the property is really nice No kitchen to cook, no barbecue access, only microwave. Entire property is shared, so it felt very uncomfortable. The heater is not working properly in the bedroom. No entertainment like a good TV. The internet connection is really bad.
The sheets on the bed and pillows smell really bad.
- Himanshu (10/5): A day trip turns into memories forever.... - It was so welcomed by hosts.
Nice and clean room with all amenities
You can sit down next to woodfire and it's very comfortable experience.
Host offered if we want to play musical instruments while sitting next to woodfire.
Basic Kitchen facilities with breakfast included
Host allowed us to walked through their massive treeline property and it was picture perfect moments.
There are lot to write for this accomodation where words are not enough to describe entire experience.
Worth to stay. Everything was perfect
- Sandra (7/5): Good -
- Vera (8/5): Lovely spot, lovely hosts! -
- Jan (8/5): A cosy comfy stay in a lovely setting. - The owners of the B&B were very welcoming and, as we were the only guests that night we had exclusive use of the large living room as well as our bedroom. They lit the fire for us and we enjoyed a cosy and relaxing evening after returning from dinner at the nearest pub. Everything we needed was on hand for breakfast, including plunger coffee, cereal and toast. Unfortunately there is no mobile reception at all, although we were mostly able to connect through the property's WiFi. It did cause a bit of a problem as the owners weren't home when we arrived and we couldn't contact them by phone. Also, as the property is some distance from town, it was a slightly tense drive in the dark watching out for kangaroos to get to and from the pub for dinner.
- Caine (9/5): For a break away in the county ! We will defo have it on our list to come back ! - The hosts, spa bath, open fire, comfortable bed, room, old tasteful homely style !
- Maurice (9/5): Superb - Good hospitality in a lovely rural setting Nothing, all good 😄!
- Shafiq (7/5): Overall its was enjoyable, quiet and comfortable. - Hospitality of both Marie and Irvine. I also enjoyed chatting with them. They were friendly. Turning off the water pump at night. No access to the kitchen.
- Jennie (7/5): Good - Lovely area, comply bed and fire in living area lovely in evening Our room was cold and electric blankets didn't seem to work
- Hugh (5/5): just passable - Breakfast location very good. Owners very friendly Breakfast just average needed choice of adult cereals like museli, perhaps small tub of yohurt with cereal. instead of a jar of jam individual serves Cobwebs under the vanity.
- Darren (8/5): Peaceful - Quiet. Comfy bed. Friendly.
Great meal at the local pub.
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Glenn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sahan (10/5): Amazing stay - We recently had the pleasure of visiting this serene oasis and was truly impressed by the warm hospitality extended by the owners. From the moment arrived, I felt welcomed and at ease. The tranquil ambiance of the place made it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The owners went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with exceptional hospitality. Nothing to dislike
- John (10/5): Great place to stay - Great location on a beautiful property and the hosts were wonderful. I will definitely return to this property. Nothing
- Jo (9/5): Superb -
- Max (10/5): Great hosts! -
- Neil (9/5): Nice escape to the country - Nice communal area so you didn’t feel cramped. Great pub 15 km down the rd for dinner and great views on the Murray
- Glenda (9/5): Superb - great atmosphere, friendly, attentive and informative hosts.
- Mandy (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the vintage feel of the house
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - The farm environment and homely atmosphere. No sink in the food preparation area.
- Jane (8/5): Very good - Quiet location. Hosts very nice.
- Peter (9/5): Very comfortable bed! - Very comfortable bed with soft sheets. Plenty of space in the communal areas. Enjoyed the breakfast and use of the refrigerator. Lovely setting. It was a little further from the highway than we expected. However, I think we ended up taking the long way there. Should have gone with the second exit.
- Cecilia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Stephen (10/5): A very enjoyable weekend and enjoyed our chats with our host. - Location was excellent to explore the area the accommodation is very comfortable and the weather was great.
- Mcdermott (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (10/5): bloody awesome little stay!! - everything quiet, comfortable and very relaxing nothing not to like!!
- Arend (10/5): Exceptional - Due to a series of travelling “adventures” and a reluctance to have the same repeated the following day my stay was very short. Late arrival and very early morning departure meant missing out on what would, I am sure, been a really excellent stopover. Despite the very late arrival, the hostess, who I very much regret not having been able to spend more time chatting with, insisted on arranging for me to have a meal at a local hotel.
The B & B itself was a really attractive old-style home full of wonderful and very comfortable vintage furnishings. It really made one feel as if they have just stepped back to a much earlier time in the last century. A much more formal period but one that exuded with hospitality as that being demonstrated by the hostess.
My own room was called the “Blue Room” and very much reflected its name. Almost everything, including the blankets and bed covering, bed linen, curtains, chair, towels and even the toilet’s water were shades of blue, in a very attractive manner.
Furnishings in the room included a very comfortable large bed and lounge chair.
Ensuite bathroom was small but adequate with a delightful shower head that was adjustable so that a tall person like me was not required to do shower squats (as it might have first been perceived to be required)
In the lounge there was a decanter of port for complimentary consumption, and a kitchenette which enabled one to make their own beverages as well as breakfast in the morning. Truly a home away from home.
Despite its isolation, there was available an excellent Wi-Fi connection with the only regret being that the only table upon which to work on the laptop was one of the tables already set out for breakfast, in the kitchenette area. The small amount of time available to me, however, this became only a very small sacrifice to endure.
It shall forever remain a very cherished memory of all my travels. Nothing.
- Maniche (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Amazing experience, would love to stay again if I’m ever around the area. - Hospitality- kind, warm hearted and welcoming. Very understanding and reassuring with us arriving late at night and having issues with receiving our booking on booking.com due to a harsh weather.
Location- extremely beautiful and peaceful.
Home- homely, clean and tidy. Had everything we needed and more.
Overall, a 10/10 experience! Would highly recommend. The roads- a lot of deep pot holes along the journey.
- Graeme (8/5): Very good -
- Alyn (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (9/5): Blissful and comfortable place to stay. - Very warm greeting upon arrival, followed by a quick tour of the premises. Breakfast explained clearly. Helped myself to the DVD library and had an extremely comfortable night's stay. It was very hard to get out of that comfortable bed in the morning. Excellent, welcoming hosts. Wanted for nothing. No complaints at all. Just a caution that the road to the property is a fast country road but loads of deep potholes and damaged surfaces, probably owing to all the rain. Nothing to do with the property whatsoever, just a note for anyone coming in by car.
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
