- Elliot (9/5): - The location was great, very close to the famous stairs and a great view from the shared area. The kitchen was really great with great facilities. I would 100% book to stay here again. The room we stayed in did'nt have AC, but there was an overhead fan which worked well

- Rafael (8/5): -
- Juliana (9/5): - Localização ótima Quarto sem tv
- Machado (10/5): - Habitación, ubicación, buena onda. Te dejan dejar la mochila y luego pasar a buscarla.
- Maria (8/5): Gute und preiswerte Unterkunft - Großer und offener Gemeinschaftsbereich. Gut ausgestattete Küche und Wasserfilter für Trinkwasser. Bett mit Moskitonetz. Sauberkeit des Badezimmers
- Souza (9/5): - Lugar aconchegante, anfitriã atenciosa. Sentimos falta de TV no quarto.

- Emma (10/5): - Superbe maison!
- izapaixao (9/5): Adorei e voltaria outras vezes!

- Steffen (9/5): Superb - Perfect location, silent but close by Lapa good for parties. Nice room, nice stuff, free parking in front of the house on the street Facilities are a bit old but works
Breakfast gets smaller from year to year. There could be more options for food but you can bring your own.
- Lula (10/5): Amazing - Maria Teresa was a phenomenal host. The house was absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to stay again. The breakfast was amazing. I think about it all the time. The location is a little out of the way and sometimes it was hard to get an uber but that’s okay. The house and friendliness of the staff were worth it.
- Frank (9/5): Superb -
- Bryan (8/5): Very good -
- Janina (10/5): Exceptional -

- Michael (10/5): Oasis of calm in likelin a lively place area - The staff are very helpful and welcoming. Quirky artwork everywhere gives a bohemian atmosphere. Run as a female only collective as far as we saw. Lovely breakfasts in the morning. A high level garden gives a view over the locality and if you climb up you reach the arty area of Santa Teresa. Just round the corner from the Selarón steps which is a must see for the area. Shared bathroom might not be for everyone but access was easy. An oasis of calm in a busy area. Communication was excellent but you need WhatsApp which requires data which we didn't have at the time. So not a complaint just a point to consider.
- Gaja (9/5): Superb - The staff is really nice and helpful. Breakfast is also really good and the location of the pousada is very central, even tho in the evening I would recomend to get a taxi or uber.
- Isadora (9/5): Super nice! - The breakfast is really good, the place is super nice and comfortable! There’s a nice terrace with a nice and relaxing view The only small thing is that the room didn’t have air conditioning and it was very hot.
- Melly (8/5): Very good -
- Valerie (9/5): Superb - Barbara, the host, is super friendly and accommodating. Making sure everything is good. Location is perfect, literally 100m from the escadaria Selaron. Feels like a home really. Just very hot and no AC just a fan. But really not that bad.
- Jens (9/5): Chilling place with top view - Nice place to be. Wonderful view, nice garden, best way starting the day with an excellent breakfast. Near to Santa Teresa stairs.
- Line (10/5): I stayed 2 night at the end of my trip. <3 Barbara and Magna were very Nice to me. - Breakfast was amazing, there was everything i love: yoghourt, fruits, tapioca, juices etc.!
- Jolanta (10/5): Exceptional - Barbara and her team were wonderful hosts: The breakfast was delicious, the location is perfect, just a few steps from the famous stars.
- Noemi (6/5): Thanks, but... - Staff is great! The three girls are very nice, Barbara in particular helped us with some info regarding things to do, restaurants around etc.
Breakfast is tasty and there's everything you need (fruit, ham and cheese, jam, eggs, coffee, tap water etc)
There's a big courtyard where you can have breakfast and you can rest with a nice view of the city.
The position is quite good, the neighborhood during Carnaval is active and full of people and music, you are in the middle of the autentic Barrio of Santa Teresa and it's easy to go everywhere -bus stops are not far from it Unfortunately the room we had was very dirty and humid (the main lamp was full of water)!
There's no fresh air or sunlight entering considering that the room is "underground".
Due to the season there are many mosquitos and it's impossible to sleep with the window opened - I think that AC it's necessary- or at least a net.
Pictures of the room in Booking dont represent the truth (regarding the room we had)
- Tobias (9/5): Incredible view, convenient location and very nice staff - Incredible view, very nice staff and big rooms No ar conditioning.
- Ying (5/5): I would not come back to this B&B again; not worth the money paid. - 1. The breakfast is OK
2. Hostess and staff are very helpful
3. Location easy to access LAPA and Centro attractions. 1. The facilities are old and rusty: no window screens to block mosquitoes; no air conditioning to cool off in hot summer days; spider webs everywhere; furniture is old and shaky; bathroom is not clean, especially shower area.
2. The area is not safe, even police say so.
3. It is difficult to call Uber at night in this B&B. Uber/taxi drivers either ask for much more higher prices or not going due to safety and steep slope.
4. Stairs are very steep for carrying luggage up and down. Not handicap accessible.
- Stefanie (10/5): Amazing stay, great location and welcome host! - Casa da gente is a beautiful hostel. It is located close to the centre of Santa Teresa which I enjoyed a lot exploring and walking around in. The hostel itself has a beautiful open layout across multiple layers, and a gorgeous garden overlooking the city below. The breakfast was delicious every time and a lot of attention was paid to everyone's satisfaction. Barbara was an amazing host always providing suggestions for the day ahead or evening plans to explore the city, the music and the neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro. Nothing to mention here! I would come back happily!
- Sergey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeroen (10/5): Exceptional - Barbara as a host and rest of the staff is amazing! She made us feel welcome in Brazil and had a lot of good tips and tricks to explore the city both by day and night. Nothing
- Loan (10/5): no words to describe!total i stayed 7D6 N - the staffs: so warmed and helpful. Barbara Magna ! they are the best… nothing
- Valentina (9/5): Superb -
- Stephan (10/5): Perfect Stay in Rio - Perfect Place. Santa Theresa is beautiful. Barbara gave me a lot of information. The breakfast was great. A great place to stay in Rio. Thank you! -
- Kemran (9/5): Superb - Beautiful shared space, with a garden & great view. So long as you don't mind walking up the famous steps, a good location. Staff (Barbara) were exceptionally friendly & helpful. We got the cheapest room double room. It was a little dark and musty. We saw the nicer room with a view, we'd pay extra for that next time.

- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional - This place really went above and beyond with hosting us during our stay. Breakfast daily was delicious, the host Barbra and the other staff were just a delight to talk too too. Always ready to answer questions, catch up and share their experiences with us. The views of the property were lovely to watch the storms too. Location was fine for us but we did walk up and down the stairs a lot (which kept us fit during our stay) If I had to be picky, it’s the limited number of keys. The building doesn’t have a 24/7 reception which is understandable. We luckily had a spare key for our stay but it’s probably worth getting a couple more sets for group bookings and adding a deposit system. Not a real criticism. Our group were usually together, but it took a little coordinating between us to get in and out of the property if we were doing separate things.
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly and gave lots of recommendations for things to do in the area. Breakfast was included and was really good, and the location of Casa de Gente made it easy to get to other places in the city since there was a metro station nearby. Overall, we had a great experience here!
- Steffen (10/5): authentic basic Carioca living - all is open you’ve fresh air everywhere
the back yard is so enjoyable
please have in mind that is a basic B&B with perfect breakfast and great city view but without a TV! love it! thanks Barbara and Silvia and the other stuff nothing!!!
- Mert (9/5): Superb - The location was perfect and breakfast was very rich. The owner Barbara she is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
- Ron (9/5): Really recommended :) - A perfect place to stay and get to know the city. I came during carnaval, such a busy time, and Barbara the host (and also the rest of the staff) were amazing and had plenty of patience to explain evertyhing and help out with whatever i needed, tickets, info, everything.. She also invited us to awesom Blocos parties and generally atmosphere was amazing.
Also perfect breakfast:) The only thing to take into consideration is location can be a bit uncomfortable if you want to walk in and out in late hours by yourself (i took some ubers instead of walking when it was late)
- Gonzalez (9/5): Superb -
- Gentle (9/5): Fantastic. - The staff were very, very helpful. The breakfast is great. The view is nice, with a really relaxed atmosphere. Great place. If you are down in town and are waking back, it can be quite sore getting up the hill/steps. Not really any supermarkets close by.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Barbara is fantastic, the place is clean and calm, you can rest after the chaotic city discovery. the breakfast is lovely, staff is great, really amazing place at least one place with air con would be great
- Adrien (8/5): Everything you need to know in the description - Staff: Barbara and all the staff were incredible, helpful, quick to resolve any problem.
View: Great view of Rio's town
Location: Close to the center
Cleanness: Great
Breakfast: Good Location: The only way to go to the accommodation is with Uber, taxi (or moto taxi) or by walking.
IMPORTANT: You have to know that Uber frequently cancel when they see the location (it's quite steep to drive to the accommodation) and they usually don't have good tires. Eventually, you will have one that drives you...
During the night: with Uber, btw 2-5am, you can easily wait 20-40 minutes to have one that accept to climb you up there. If it's raining, good luck. One night, my friend had to wait 1h30 to get one (but I admit it was exceptionally long).
- Julian (9/5): Superb -
- Arik (8/5): Good experience in Casa de Gente - We liked the view from our room (notice though, that it depends on which room you get), the location is good, 15 min walking from the metro, 7 min from bus stations, 15 walking from nearby supermarkets, 2 min. From the selaron stairs. The atmosphere of the place is very nice and cozy, the staff is very helpful and kind. The breakfast is pretty nice although it doesn't suit vegans. It's really hot in Rio ( we were in January, it was 30-35 degrees with lots of humidity), there are fans in the room but it's not enough, they have to put air-conditioning.
There were some ants on the wall and the kitchen is not equipped enough with cookware (if you want to prepare a big meal). It's enough though for making some simple meals like an omelette for example.
- Frederike (9/5): Superb -
- Camila (9/5): Superb -
- Milena (10/5): Exceptional - Barbara is the best!
If you stay in this hostel you will have a home in Rio
- Andrew (8/5): Niceeeeeee - Barbara was lovely and really helpful. It is a nice place just outside of the chaotic Lapa region. Location is very good.
It is in a quite street with nice views from the garden. Lovely little place.
- Floor (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was very lovely with a great view. Place is nice, quiet, big kitchen, staff is super friendly and giving good tips for the surrounding area. They were very flexibel, could check in early and check out late without problems. My stay was great!
- Miglė (10/5): Lovely place to stay! - Great place to stay in Rio!
Super warm and welcoming hosts, feels like staying at friends house, rather than in ho(s)tel.
Beautiful terrace to sit in the evening with a view of Lapa Arches
Nice breakfast and well facilitated kitchen area to prepare your meal.
Close to all the touristic points.
Super comfy beds and calm area. Area around sometimes might unsafe as technically it's already Santa Teresa, but I had no problems walking back even in the late afternoon (8-9pm). To catch Uber, you can also walk down the stairs and call it from there, in case they don't want to go up.
- Gulen (9/5): Great place, great staff - Lovely garden, great breakfast and great staff. The room and the shower were very comfy. Barbara is an amazing host. You can rely on her suggestions about the restaurants, bars, etc. The location is great if you're planning to spend the night in Lapa. Make sure you take a taxi or Uber to return back after midnight.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent stay, excellent host, I recommend !!
- Alice (10/5): Lovely and warm - Everything was great! The house is lovely, the garden is perfect to chill and take the delicious breakfast, the room was large and comfortable! Barbara is a great host, always here with great tips and nice words. Nothing.
