Guest Reviews
- Patrick (10/5): Hervorragend - Tolles Frühstück selbstgemacht und bio. Super nette Gastgeber.
- David (7/5): Nice home, location and privacy average. - Booked last minute and place was available. Home is very nice, and bed comfy. Breakfast was good and they accommodated on short notice as I had to leave for ferry ride. Has a nice view of the water. Not very private, hosts are downstairs and even sleep in a room upstairs next to mine? Also note they have 2 dogs, not sure if was mentioned in rental? Not a fan of dogs early AM hovering around me drinking a coffee.
- Karen (10/5): The host were very talkative about what to do in their town. - Very pretty house with lovely gardens. We had to share a bathroom but it really wasn’t a problem.
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Marek (8/5): greta short stay; lovely owners and breakfast in quaint rustic setting with greta view. - excellent - buckwheat pancakes with blue berry compote. no lock on doors
- Ørjan (9/5): Really nice stay - The stay were personal, and you get great connection to the hosts. They were super helpful, and I got a free lift to the ferry. So happy to get a great breakfast as most places are not serving breakfast in Canada. Can only recommend it. No complains.
- Hilary (10/5): -
- Go (10/5): A recommended stay for those who like to chat and meeting new people new people! - They provided us a big breakfast and lots of conversation + recommendations for travel. Bill seemed to really prioritize using natural ingredients which we appreciated.
- mercedes (10/5): B&B where you feel like you're visiting family - Bill and Milly were incredibly kind. They prepared us a spectacular breakfast with homemade, high-quality products. They gave us recommendations for things to do with the family, and we felt very comfortable. Nothing
- Mikhael (8/5): Was a great choice for my one night business travel stay. Friendly, comfortable, and serene. -
- Annika (10/5): Very clean and the hosts are very friendly - The house is exceptionally clean and beautifully kept, and the hosts are incredibly friendly. They recommended some wonderful places to visit during our trip, as well as a great Indian restaurant with delicious vegan options nearby. At the end of our stay, they even gifted us a handmade soap!
Just a small note everybody should be aware of before booking: the bathroom is shared, and the hosts live in the house as well. Everything feels lovingly made and full of personal touches. :)
- Annika (10/5): -
- Gerhard (10/5): -
- Graham (6/5): Lovely amenities. Comfortable bed. Unwanted conversation. - Super comfy bed, balcony was nice. Blankets were amazing. Shower was good. The hosts could not read social cues. They are seemingly lovely people, who are very passionate about their interests and their business. They had troubles recognizing when tenants were not interested or wanted to be left alone. They interrupted another guest multiple times to tell a story that has no relevance to the conversation at hand. We felt on eggshells the entire time because we didn’t want to hurt their feelings by telling them we just wanted to be left alone. Their intentions seem wholly pure and they were very kind people. The execution however left something to be desired.
- Louise (10/5): Very comfortable room and a delicious, healthy breakfast which took into account my dietary requirem - Very comfortable room and a delicious, healthy breakfast which took into account my dietary requirements. Loved the gift of handmade soap! Would recommend a stay here.
- Martina (10/5): Feels just like home! - We were warmly welcomed into Milly and Bill's world. We immediately felt comfortable and really enjoyed having breakfast with the other guests and sharing stories. The location is quite central in Port Alberni and close to many restaurants. After almost two weeks spent between Vancouver and Vancouver Island, the beds and duvets here were probably the best we had during our stay!
Bill was very kind and also showed us some nice hikes and places to stop in our drive to Tofino and some trails after we arrived there. Everything was perfect!
- Mady (10/5): - Bill And Milly were the perfect host, very helpful with walks suggestions and restaurants. Great location, my room had a view of the water and was very comfortable. I would go back there for sure! Nothing!
- Veronique (9/5): -
- Arjan (10/5): -
- Birgit (8/5): Lovely historic home with manicured landscape. Small fridge and a coffeemaker would have been nice. - Best granola breakfast ever! :)
All homemade and so delicious!
Bill was very kind and drove us to catch the ferry at 8am.
Thanks again for the unexpected kindness! Booking.com has misleading pictures (see above) and to be honest for 150$/night I thought we could expect a private bathroom. No harm done though as we were the only guests at the time.
- Simon (10/5): Thank you both very much for a pleasant stay. - We felt very wellcome. Bill made a delicious breakfast and gave us many very good trip advises. (most of them we visited, and it was totally worth it, so Thanks!)
- Julian (8/5): - Very helpful guy. Great breakfast. Bed was smaller than we are used to. Having to ask for a drink is a bit weird.
- Eva (8/5): -
- Tania (10/5): Very clean, lovely house, well located and beautiful souls. What a pleasant stay! - Bill and his wife are very kind and attentive, ensuring that you have everything you need and enjoy your stay with them.
Nichts
- Yvonne (10/5): - Sehr sauber. Sehr nette Gastgeber.
- peter (10/5): Great find - Nicely appointed rooms. Pleasant host with great breakfast and homemade body soap.
- Michael (8/5): angenehmer Aufenthalt bei freundlichen Gastgebern - sehr gepflegter Eindruck, freundliche Gastgeber nicht flexibel beim Check in, quietschende Türen
- Carol (9/5): -
- Melanie (10/5): - Highly recommend this friendly B&B for your stay on Vancouver Island. After several nights of staying in hotels, Bill & Milly's place felt like staying with family, which was delightful. Bill's local knowledge was a game changer in our enjoyment of the surrounding nature, with lots of advice and tips you won't see elsewhere. Breakfasts were delicious and a perfect start to full days of exploring the outdoors.
- John (8/5): -
- Lynne (8/5): Welcoming and convenient. - Breakfast was excellent. Location was very good.
Hosts were very friendly and extremely helpful. Booking dot com didn’t clearly state it was a shared bathroom.
There was no lock on the bedroom door.
- Elaine (10/5): Lovely accommodation and a friendly welcome in a location that actually has much to offer. - We booked the top floor suite for the private bathroom and were impressed with the size of the room and delighted with the commanding views from the private balcony. We deliberately looked for accommodation in a homely setting to avoid the formality of a hotel and Outdoor lovers delivered and then some. Bill and Milly were excellent hosts, breakfast was lovely and welcome advice on local attractions was offered willingly. On street parking was both safe and easy in reserved bays directly outside the house. The Black bear popping up on cue at Victoria Quay where Bill suggested we look was a special bonus.
- Chakir (10/5): Charming location in a very quiet neighborhood. - Lovely location. Charming host with lots of information about the area. As a senior, I found all the stairs a little challenging but the host was very helpful with my luggage.
- Melany (8/5): -
- Sandy (10/5): Super logement - Le lit était confortable .
- Lucia (10/5): Highly recommend!! Would love to come back again next time 👍 - The room is very clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. Bill is an excellent cook who made the breakfast so delicious :P
Milly is a fun person to chat with, love all the stories she told! None! Everything is super great :)
- Hannah-Sophie (7/5): -
- Weng Fai (10/5): Great homey, place to stay 2 nights or longer, provided you driving. - The B&B is a really nice place with great views of Port Alberni. I love the nice and quiet location, but it is still a very short drive to the various restaurants in town. The breakfast provided is fantastic, at least for me, as it is healthy and freshly prepared by the host. The unit with 3 beds is up in the attic, but it has lots of space, and great views just outside your balcony. It would be a great place to stay 2 to 3 nights (or longer) as you explore the various attractions in P. Alberni, Tofino & Ucluelet. The hosts would also give great local recommendations on food as well as attractions - thanks! The host can be particular about common living behavior, which is a good thing as it means other guest are also well behaved. This is a good thing for me, actually.
- Martine (9/5): - Gave great advice about what places to visit and where to see bears. We saw two bears on two different days!
- Regina (7/5): -
- Regula (10/5): - Milly and Bill had been very nice hosts and we can highly recommend a stay at their home. Besides a warm welcome and a variety of dinner recommendations, they served an early bird coffee in the morning!
Thank you again!
- alan (10/5): - Totally enjoyed talking with Molly. She is a hoot!
- Johan (7/5): Great welcoming B&B - Great very well kept b&b in a very nice older home. Super clean. Very hospitable host couple.
Very quite location. Shared bathroom worked well despite negative expectations. Beds was very narrow, probably only 130 cm, was tight for 2.
- Maham (10/5): You won’t regret it. Milly and Bill are so hospitable - We stayed for two nights and would love to go back and stay with Milly & Bill. They made the stay so comfortable and left books and coloring books in our room for the kids. They also brought out a big box of blocks to play with for the kids right after breakfast. The breakfast was delicious. They were so kind. They have kept the property very clean. The view from our balcony was beautiful. They gift all their guests organic soap bars on check out. That our stay was short
Convivial .
Nos hôtes très attentionnes
Superbe expérience
- Maren (9/5): -
- Emma (10/5): A lovely stay in Port Alberni. - Bill and Milly were incredibly friendly and gave lots of recommendations for walks and restaurants in the area. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The homemade breakfast was delightful. We would stay again in a heartbeat.
- Vincent (10/5): -
- Danny Xu (9/5): very friendly owner and great value for the stay. very clean and be recommended. -
- Byron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sheila (8/5): Very good -
- Greening (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsten (10/5): Fantastic - Very nice hosts and location. Home made musli and Joghurt for breakfast.
- Amiri (10/5): Exceptional - Bill and Milly are such kind and thoughtful hosts, genuinely warm, welcoming, and accommodating. Their place was spotless, cozy, and kept at the perfect temperature. They went above and beyond by treating me to their delicious homemade soups and breakfast. I felt truly cared for during my stay.
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast over friendly conversation with Bill.
- Jim (10/5): Port Alberni Great B&B - Beautiful home, exceptionally clean & comfortable - super friendly hosts & lovely pancakes for breakfast. Milly & Bil are so kind...thanks so much xxx
- El (10/5): Exceptional - Character home over 100 years old and in perfect condition, with hardwood floors, renovated bathroom, warm shared area, and comfy leather couches. My room looked and felt great, overlooking Mt Arrowsmith from one window, and the Alberni inlet from the other.
I am a frequent traveler and have experienced hospitality from 7-star hotels as well as shared dorms. This place has a unique offering, a European-style bed and breakfast with a twist of a "home" vibe. The hosts live there and they are pretty hands-on with managing the operation. I enjoyed having a chat with Bill and he shared his wealth of knowledge about the history of Port Alberni, the surrounding trails, and much more.
The location within the town is central, and even for folks wanting to explore Tofino (and not pay a whopping $500 per night), this place is an excellent choice and just under 2 hours to get there, a reasonable drive time considering the cost saving...
I am getting ready to have my breakfast this morning and hit the road again. Highly recommended Nothing to not like
- Lori (10/5): A gem - The property was absolutely beautiful and walkable to the port , and restaurants . It is situated on a small hill . The hosts made me a tea when I first arrived, and I sat out on the shared front deck admiring the views
The house was very welcoming and the hosts offered recommendations of areas to visit and hike .
The breakfast was made fresh with whole ingredients .
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional - Bill was a great host and provided us with much travel information and interesting stories
self-made muesli for breakfast was nice for 1-2 days
quiet, nice room
- Clark (9/5): Clean, quiet visit. - Quiet and near to the harbour where we we’re catching a boat in the morning.
- Debbie (1/5): I would advise anyone staying here to read the tripadvisor reviews from Strider and Robyn in October 2024, if I’d seen t -
- Sonja (10/5): Perfect B&B between the ferry and Tofino - Molly was a wonderful host and it was a perfect start to our vacation in Canada. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed a homemade breakfast with other guests. Thank you so much! Everything was great
- Cole (10/5): A wonderful stay in a beautiful place - Bill and Milly are wonderful hosts and provided an comfortable and pleasant stay. Breakfast was amazing. There were plenty of healthy options, including eggs, sausage, and homemade, sugar-free nut butter. The bedroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. I had an excellent conversation with Bill about a wide range of topics, including our mutual interest in healthy nutrition. He also gave me some great information about nearby hiking trails. I had a great time and would love to return in the future. Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Staff went the extra mile to satisfy guest needs, really appreciated it.
Quality amenities.
It is a very peaceful place, beds are comfy.
Location is good and easy access to motorway. The only one suggestion would be installing proper curtains to ensure a good sleep, considering how early the sun rises, especially for those pax coming from abroad struggling with jet lag.
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Local information about hikes and restaurants. Good wi fi No kettle in room. Late check as weather was inclement that day.
- Marlene (8/5): Port Alberni getaway - Great location with fabulous views. Wonderful hosts that are very accommodating and serve delicious breakfasts with local organic ingredients.
- Nicky (7/5): Quiet and organised little B&B - Shower was wonderful, the house was clean, the French toast was delicious.
The owners were very chatty. Quite an abrupt welcome (and then house rules)
Pillows need changing 🤢
- Keith (9/5): Great stay. Great owners 😎 - Breakfast was of high quality and on time such that we could catch the ferry to Bamfield. Restaurant recommendations were good. Lots of parking. Nice garden, pond and outdoor seating. Appreciated the chocolates and owner gift. Thanks 🤩
- Sylvia (10/5): Lovely hosts and beautiful accommodation! - Milly and Bill were the ultimate hosts. The heritage home has been beautifully updated and it is very clean. Breakfast was plentiful, cooked from scratch, and delicious! Served with a generous side of good conversation, laughs, and information about the surrounding area. Milly and Bill went above and beyond to show us hospitality to the extent they even invited my daughter in to share breakfast with us! She had just moved to Port Alberni that weekend and we will certainly be staying here whenever we come to visit her!
- Serina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tristyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Blake (10/5): Homely and comfortable. - This place was so well kept and maintained. The owners were lovely and provided great service and recommendations for local activities. The breakfast provided was delicious as well! Nothing much to complain about.
- Plonka (8/5): Very good - Good.
- Fox (10/5): We really enjoyed this bed and breakfast. - Delicious waffles for breakfast. Good coffee. Great quality food.

Homemade soap was a lovely bonus touch !
- Jim (8/5): A nice stay - Very quiet space
- David (10/5): Friendly and comfortable B&B in a perfect area for outdoor recreation! - Clean and modern accommodations with a variety of room options. Friendly hosts with lots of local knowledge. Great healthy breakfast!
- Dylan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ria (10/5): Exceptional - The host and hostess were very hospitable. They operate a beautiful B&B. I felt comfortable and welcome. Home away from home. The food was delicious. I am sure I will come back when visiting Port Alberni. In one word, it was excellent!!!
- Paquette (10/5): Exceptional - They were wonderfully welcoming and very pleasant host. All the amenities were clean, and their dogs were kind and loving. Overall, they showed heart and took pride in what they have to offer, and they have a right to. The house has been wonderfully renovated to capture the original aspects along with some tasteful upgrades. Definitely a stop worth considering when visiting Port Alberni. 10/10 host
- Graeme (10/5): Exceptional - Bill was very inviting, providing us with lots of local knowledge, and a great breakfast. The house was very nice, you can tell a lot of care has gone into maintaining and updating it. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area again.
- Jonathon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Valeria (7/5): It was ok. - Great place, clean and we were warned family was coming for Christmas. We were told family would be staying for Christmas at their place. Though we felt it would be fine, It did make for an incredibly awkward stay. Would have been better to have cancelled on us. We felt like we were not welcome right from the start. Also, asking to grab water form a sink on the other side of a kitchen was insane.
- Sadler (10/5): Very lovely stay! -
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Bill and Millie have a meticulously clean home. Rooms are comfortable and a common area is offered. Salt Spring shampoo and soap was a generous plus in the shower. Organic breakfast of homemade granola & yoghurt with local berries was delightful. Bill gifted each of us with a bar of his homemade soap on departure.
- Robyn (3/5): Think twice before booking - The room was comfortable. The hosts were rude, angry and unwelcoming. We were greeted with 'You're late' no hello, introductions or sense that you are a paying guest and being welcomed into their home. We arrived at 18.15 when we'd said 18.00-19.00 arrival and they'd said dinner was between 18.00-19.00. At first I thought it was a skit, perhaps a flavour of Basil Fawlty but without the obvious humour. We were shocked and silent as 'He' took us to a bench, told us.. 'shoes off as we need to protect the floors' and pointed in the direction of where our 'dinner' was. But we had to go upstairs immediately to review the room, learn how to open a barn door and angle the shower head for least leakage from the shower etc. We were led past the two silent guests with eyes agog and mouths open as they witnessed this very intimidating and angry man tell us under no circumstances we were to go behind his kitchen island. That was his space and he would see to our needs, I asked if I was allowed to make a tea and was told... 'absolutely not' I should knock on his door and he would service our needs. This man did not give the impression he would be happy with our intrusion into his personal space or would welcome a request. He then took my bag, I suggested I'd be happy carrying it, but was firmly put in my place as a woman incapable of traversing the double, narrow and winding staircase to the 3rd floor. When we arrived at our rooms we were told to never roll the bags as the floor was 100years old and needed to be protected, we were told we could turn up the heating but he had set it to his preferred temperature. Then we headed down to dinner where a lovely English couple greeted us with an offer of a beer and told us the food on our plate was a curry meat burrito. My daughter is vegetarian and didn't eat any whilst I had a couple of unsavoury bites, I'd lost my appetite due to the increased anxiety I was feeling.
- Dirk (9/5): Superb - The location. The authentic character of a 100 year old house. The view. The useful tips about hikes and restaurants. Breakfast had great ingedients, but more options would have been a bonus.
- Chris (9/5): A very clean and comfortable B&B. - Very clean and comfortable. Nice view of the water in a residential area.
As this is someone’s home you have to have some rules which Bill made very clear so there was not problems. This would not apply to every guest, however there were a lot of stairs to navigate if one of you has difficulties on stairs. We managed by limiting the number of trips up the stairs.
