Guest Reviews
- Bruce (10/5): There was nothing to complain about,it was excellent - The breakfast was insane, there was so much food đ
- Megan (7/5): Blissfully Quiet Peaceful stay - Awesomely Quiet! Amazingly private given how close the houses are. Lovely and Sunny. Very homely and so amazingly clean, lovely welcome pack, fresh bread, muffins etc and in the fridge yogurt eggs and bacon. Bodywash and Shampoo and Conditioner was great. Very large accommodation, comfy bed and loved the electric blankets. There is even a resident Peacock who sat on the balcony. Lovely soft blankets around the house and very comfortable couch. Did I mention SUPER CLEAN âșïž No wifi that would work.
It would have been nice to have just one Gluten free item in the welcome pack, just an idea as itâs a big stretch to accommodate every diet and Iâm not complaining because my husband was happy he had some treats.
The cooktop knobs were not sitting right some had been reemed out would just swivel so you are not sure the gas is completely off.
No facecloths was annoying, there were makeup wipes however nothing to do a face wash with.
The worst thing for us was the smell of the cleaning products I spoke with the owner and she said it was nil odour which was horrendous and lingered all night. It really affected our breathing. Whatever cleaning product is used on the tiles makes them extremely slippery when wet.
- deborah (10/5): Perfect accomodation . - Spotlessly clean
Everything you need and fantastic breakfast
- Justin (9/5): -
- Anna (10/5): - Beautiful hidden gem! Lovely cottage with modern touches and a wonderful hearty breakfast provisions. We couldnât ask for more!
- Lye (9/5): -
- Anna (10/5): Short but perfect for our last night in Tasmania! - We stayed in the Seabright lodge, a beautiful little cottage in a quiet bush setting. The bed was comfy, heater was on ready as we arrived and delicious breakfast choices provided as a very welcomed extra treat! We will definitely be back!
- Sam (10/5): Comfortable, homely, and a superb breakfast - The small touches made this place special. Not only was it immaclately clean, beautifully appointed, but there was no lack of high quality teas, coffees, hot chocolate, and so much more. They outdid themselves with the breakfast options! Nothing - loved it all. If we had found fault then we would telllet you know!
- Victoria (8/5): - Clean, comfortable cottage with all the amenities we needed. Also amazing breakfast supplies. Property maintenance a little tired - dead pot plants, old dirty car in visitors car park and overgrown hedges but definitely didnât impact our stay
- Coral (10/5): Truely magical you must stay more than a night - Everything was magical We didnât stay long enough
- Melian (10/5): - Great location, the place was cosy and comfortable, and the owners were lovely. đ
- kovkeny (9/5): - The cottage at Rooster's Rest was great for our family of four and small dog. Bedding configuration was one queen bedroom and a separate single bedroom downstairs. Upstairs in the loft was an additional queen and single. Perfectly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very generous plus there were other pantry items which is appreciated. Good location - we were catching the Spirit home in the morning and it was a 15 min drive. Close to beaches and shops but very quiet and peaceful. Would recommend.
- Hotere (10/5): - Relaxing I recommend it
- Matt (10/5): Rooster rest was a delight and we wish we could have stayed longer. - Spotlessly clean, comfy bed, delicious breakfast supplied. Everything you could think of supplied. Attention to detail was exceptional. Wishing we could have stayed longer. Being very picky here, the handles on the knives and forks were round making it very hard to cut my delicious breakfast.
- Joanne (10/5): Amazing value in a peaceful setting - Extremely spacious and cosy. Incredible breakfast provisions, bacon, eggs, cereals, yogourt, juice & sourdough bread. Comfy beds with electric blankets and the owner put the heater on before we arrived to take the chill off the room. Beautiful peacock wandering around who came right up on to the verandah. Nothing.
- Ebony (10/5): -
- Hartam (10/5): Roosters rest. - Beautiful cabin , lovely peaceful spot. Pre warmed - fabulous brekkie to cook up was great. Comfy bed. No complaints at all.

- Gail (10/5): - The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it. Very quiet, on dusk had wildlife near us (pademelons).
Beautifully styled. Plenty of room. Nothing
- Keith (10/5): - It was perfect Nothing
- Mauro (9/5): Quiet oasis - We stayed just one before taking the ferry, but we really liked the cottage, most of all, for how clean it is! Beside fresh bedlinen and towels, we particularly loved the fact that the floor was not covered by (dust gathering) carpets like we experiences in all other stays in Tasmania.
The location is great, very quiet and surrounded by a nice garden and visiting pademelons and peacocks.
We did not meet the hosts, but communication was smooth and friendly. We were allowed to check-in earlier and Vicki called us as soon as the cottage was ready, which was very appreciated. There is no wifi in the cottage, although advertised in the cottage description.
Vicki was kind enough to provide us wifi details to connect near the car park area, closer to her house (I assume it's her private wifi network).
- Alison (10/5): A restful stay in beautiful surrounds - A peaceful surround. Beautiful appointed accommodation Nothing
- Helen (10/5): Fantastic Stay!! - Beautiful and clean with everything you would need for an overnight stay. Lovely gardens, with peacocks and wallabies. Very quiet, comfortable bed, great breakfast!! Great hosts, nothing was too much to ask. N/A

- Steve (10/5): Best stay i have ever had. - When i walked in i thought they had given me the wrong cottage.
It was 1000% better than what i was expecting.
Absolutely recommend to anyone staying near Devonport
You will find no other accommodation better than Rooster's Rest. Nothing
- Howard (10/5): - Thoughtful, kind and generous hospitality.
Comfortable beds ensured our family of four all enjoyed an amazing night's sleep.
Ultra clean, cosy, bright and airy, creating a lovely feel to this place.
All rooms are fully equipped and self contained, especially the kitchen, making it perfect for short or long stays.
Loved the covered decking area that wraps around the entire house.
Easy to find and the office is close by.
This location is nestled in nature making it a quiet, tranquil and peaceful place to enjoy getting away from it all.
Would stay here again. âââââ
- Elaine (10/5): Brilliant stay for our requirements - Breakfast was amazing.
- Maddi (10/5): Incredible place to stay, clean and exceptional breakfast selection provided, will stay again. - We absolutely loved our stay. It was exceptionally clean and neat, breakfast that was provided was more than enough for our family of five with a great selection. We couldnât recommend staying here enough! Nothing.
- Margie Mayfield (10/5): What a hidden Gem! Peaceful, private and extremely comfortable. - What a hidden Gem! Peaceful, private and extremely comfortable. The owner was very responsive and helpful, the house was clean and well-appointed and perfect for a family of 4 (could easily handle 5 and there is a single bed in another room that we didn't use). Close to shops, the beach and has a lovely yard and surroundings. We only stayed one night but we will be back as we did not get to take full advantage of the surrounding beaches and activities.
- Angie (10/5): Home away from home! - It was perfect. If I come back this way again, Iâd stay much longer. Very clean and accessible and pet friendly. That theyâre not available when im back next week đ
- Greg (10/5): Peaceful and lovely place to stay - It was a lovely cottage, lots of space and nicely decked out. Super clean and tidy and dog friendly. Peaceful and private location too.
- Malhotra (9/5): Clean and well-maintained accommodation with raw meals provided for self-cooking. - The accommodation was comfortable and well maintained. Raw meals were provided, allowing us to cook for ourselves, which was a nice touch. The property was clean and properly cared for. We even saw a peacock & wallaby in the yard, and the view was absolutely mesmerizing. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend this place. can't think of anything
- Chrisoula (10/5): -
- Mark (8/5): -
- McMahon (10/5): We had a wonderful stay as the accommodation was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. - It is set in beautiful surroundings, the unit is modern, clean and neat, and the provisions were above what we expected. N/A
- Olive (10/5): -
- Leslie (8/5): Very comfortable, clean and reasonably well equipped - The breakfast was excellent and the provision of a number of options was appreciated. The Location was quiet and removed from the built-up area, although access to services was reasonably easy We were expecting to find a face flannel and some body products in the shower ?
The hedges bordering the driveway were rather overgrown and in need of a trim. Incidental scratches to hire cars can attract additional charges

- Parker (10/5): - Property, environment, facilities, hostess, supplies OMG SO GENEROUS, setting...so much to LOVE Nothing
- Bianca (10/5): Calm & peaceful, exactly what we were looking for! - Property was absolutely beautiful, clean and comfortable!
Despite being rooster themed it was tasteful! The bed was a bit firm but had plenty of blankets and pillows to make up for it!
- Sandra (10/5): Rooster Rest - Clean, quiet, wonderful breakfast, coffee tea selection excellent. Soft sheets, fluffy towells Nothing really. Some might want wifi. We were happy without it.
- Nicola (9/5): - Great location, comfortable with great service Nothing
- Thomas (10/5): It was perfect. - Everything Nothing
- Steve (10/5): -
- James (10/5): Great accommodation with breakfast included highly recommend. - Everything - whole house/bungalow very spacious and every amenity - bed very comfortable - full kitchen with utensils. Amazing and delicious breakfast options. Loved the wildlife that visited the gardens. No Wi- Fi not a deal breaker and host had a solution if needed.

The house is spotless and so well stocked. The breakfast provisions are fabulous and lots of extras that are wonderful.
Truely a great dog friendly place to stay, perfect quiet location, private, and very close to The Spirit of Tasmania if you arrive late. Nothing
- Frank (10/5): Very comfortable stay in a hidden gem. - Excellent location for peace and quiet. The lodge was well equipped with everything for an enjoyable stay. The bed and couches were comfortable. The shower was nice and hot. There was a fenced off section where you could allow your dogs some outdoor time. Even managed to see a couple of the local wallabies and a peacock. Would like to have stayed longer.

- Leisa (10/5): Great place great breakfast and fantastic location - Great accommodation and location albeit we drove into town. Our only regret is we didnât stay longer here, bonus was the resident peacock and wallaby with her Joey!!!
- Louise (9/5): - Loved the ample breakfast particularly as we we were travelling with hungry teen boys! Whilst we didn't end up accessing the wifi I was actually unsure of how to do this and couldn't see info on the cottage about this.
- Christian (9/5): Great place to stay -
- Michelle (10/5): Such lovely little cabins with everything you could possibly need -
- Leanne (10/5): Tranquility - Very comfortable and clean, loved the breakfast basket and fridge. The tranquility of the property was so relaxing. Perfect spot for us to take a deep breath and relax.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - I had a great stay at the Rooster Restâ Is a hidden gem it felt very welcoming from the moment I arrived. The lodge was clean and classy, The hosts were friendly and made me feel right at home. The breakfast offered a lovely variety, with something for everyone.. For the quality and comfort provided, the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended! Nil
- Karin (10/5): Einfach grandios - Alles.
- Martyn (7/5): - Clean and tidy No face washer no butter in the fridge for toast
- Sally (7/5): Comfortable cottage with generous breakfast provisions - We enjoyed our stay at Roosters Rest and were impressed with the very generous breakfast provisions. The location was perfect for us- a short drive from the Spirit of Tasmania Devonport terminal, but far enough away from a township to provide the peaceful rural location and natural environment we prefer. The house was warm, the bed was very comfortable and the shower worked well. Communication from the hosts regarding where to park and how to check-in would have been appreciated prior to our arrival. We arrived in the dark after disembarking from a rather stormy ferry crossing and it was difficult to see where we should go, or if we were in fact in the right place. We phoned the owners who then came to the door of their home and called out instructions and pointed in the direction of where to find the cottage, but we didn't get to meet them or feel very welcomed. We were unable to access the advertised Wifi ( which we needed for our conference the next day and was one of the criteria we used when choosing where to book accommodation for the night). We phoned the host again to enquire about the lack of internet and were given a rather abrupt "No" response, but no apology for the lack of an advertised amenity on the accommodation listing. - on further questioning it appeared that the stormy weather was responsible for the internet failure. This was obviously beyond the control of the host, but we would have appreciated being told this when we arrived rather than wasting time trying to work out why we couldn't connect to the internet and finally having to phone the host again and receiving responses that made us feel as though we were a nuisance.
- Mark (9/5): Peace and quiet - Very tranquil and private, wildlife and bush outside the windows. Good size chalet, well laid out with good facilities. A bit of a drive to Devonport and other areas, but all facilities are available in Shearwater, 5 minutes away. Couldn't find any WiFi, lucky we had phone data.
- Carol (10/5): Just one night unfortunately. We would definitely stay again. - Beautiful setting. Stunning accommodation. Everything you could possibly need was provided and the breakfast ingredients were amazing. This would have to be one of the best places we have stayed in.
- Neil Para (10/5): We had a great overnight stay - Kitchen, family room and bedrooms No fan in the toilet.
- Andrea (10/5): Excellent - Everything it was beautiful Nothing
- Tanya (10/5): Generous in size and generous with food, this was a lovely way to finish our week in Tassie. - An impressive space with lots of room for everyone and a wonderful array of food left for us which was a lovely way to finish our trip. It was the only property we stayed at (six other properties over our stay) that didn't have wi-fi. We also didn't receive any check-in information but this was quickly rectified when I called the number on the booking when we arrived.
- Gary (9/5): We will certainly return and hopefully stay for longer next time. - The location was surrounded by beautiful flowering bushes that gave privacy and encouraged the birds to sing.
Breakfast options were extraordinarily delicious and varied. We even made a couple of egg and bacon rolls to take for our picnic lunch overlooking the beach. Nothing - even the decorations were appropriate and engaging.
DVDs offered were diverse ( we are quite selective) and although we didnât watch any DVDs we read the blurbs and discussed the films.
- leanne (10/5): -
- Margaret (8/5): -
- Liesl-Mari (10/5): Weekend away - Gorgeously appointed cottage with everything you need including a delicious array of brekkie supplies! Nothing everything was perfect.
- Janelle (9/5): -
- Judyth (10/5): -
- Daniella (10/5): -
- Cathy (10/5): - Such a cosy, clean and comfortable cottage in a tranquil setting, with a great breakfast supplied.
- Tanya (10/5): -
- Galen (10/5): Amazing, cute little home away from home - Very clean, amazing house and loads of space. Would live here if we could Lots of poo on the veranda. Broom and hose would have cleaned it up easily. Only thing I could fault.
- Tassie Legands (10/5): We loved it once, so we loved it twice! - We loved it so much we come back to stay again! Phone service isnt great and there is no WiFi. This didnt dampen our stay, but it might others that might depend on it as it does state that they have WiFi.
- Keiren (10/5): -
