• Ko (5/5): SI QUIERES TRANQUILIDAD no duermas aquí. - Los camareros majos. Me dejaron entrar 1h 1/2 antes. La playa y lugar muy bonito. La comida buenísima de ls mano de Nacho, La limpieza. Debajo de la alfombra del baño (que estaba chorreando de agua) la levanté y había un escorpión. Nadie se disculpó en ningún momento. La habitación está al lado de la carretera. Es como si durmieras con los camiones y coches TODA LA NOCHE. Horrible el ruido. En wifi no llegaba. Hay que pagar en efectivo y se indicaba pero me cobraron un 13% más por pagar con tarjeta. Amabilidad la justa. No volveré.
• Pablo (1/5): Falta de coordinación entre lugar/cliente - Lo elegí por la ubicación Mala atención y pésima coordinación ya que llamé al lugar para avisar que mi check in era a la 1:00 am y me dijeron que no había problema que me dejaban la llave con el guarda. Llegamos y el guarda no tenía idea de lo que pasaba y tuve que acudir a hospedarme en otro lugar.

• Jennifer (8/5): Great view - The view was amazing, location was good and staff were very nice. Hotel restaurant had great food and atmosphere. Felt safe. Just be sure to have toiletries such as shampoo, loofah, conditioner, and such. Room was very basic but we personally were okay with that as we brought our own. Pura vida! The bed was not the most comfortable. Very very firm. That's really the only complaint.

• Lilian (7/5): Incómodo. - El desayuno con vista a la playa fue lo mejor de la estadía. Pero muy desagradable que nos marcaran en la carta qué podíamos pedir. Solo teníamos incluidos los desayunos más económicos. Si queríamos algún otro debíamos pagar aparte. Cuando pedíamos que nos pongan agua caliente en el termo simplemente nos decían que no tenían tiempo. Con excepción de algunos de los chicos del restaurant, como Ismael, el resto no fue muy amable. Consideramos que es un lindo restaurant, lo recomendaría para ir a pasar el día. Pero no lo recomendamos como alojamiento. Si no estás en la habitación solo podés estar en el restaurant.

• Anna (9/5): Great place - The accommodation is very stylish and nice, the restaurant offers very tasty food, and what’s great is that very kind staff work here. The beach is truly authentic and beautiful. Earplugs might be usefull, as loud trucks drive all around Costa Rica.

Our room wasn't ready the first night, so we were given a lesser value room. But the staff made up for it with a free dinner ! The first room had zero water pressure. No rooms had hot water. My wife took showers at our friends' AIRBNB. We wish that information was available before we booked.

There is construction site from right next to the hotel wich give it a weird vibe. Definitely not worth the money, we left first thing in the morning.

• David (7/5): Fantastic location, quaint boutique hotel, but it needs some improvements. - The location is outstanding - right on the beach. The restaurant/bar is spacious, clean and full of natural light. Complimentary breakfast was fine, although the menu choices are limited. Staff is friendly and helpful. Restaurants and various souvenir shops are nearby. There was no pressure and no hot water in the shower. Frustrating. My room (#1) was less than 50 feet from a busy roadway and traffic noise made it hard to get a good night's sleep. Wifi in my room didn't work for the figst day and a half.

• Sunil (1/5): Not for families! Not worth the price!! - 1. Midpoint on our way to Manuel Antonio Park. 2. Reviewers speak ONLY about the restaurant. Agreed. Food is awesome. Views are amazing. Right on the black sand beach. Prices are OK! What we did not know... 1. It looks like the restaurant owner had a couple extra rooms around and decided to convert them to a "hotel". Reasons...no reception. We did out checkin at the restaurant. If we needed anything, we had to ask the waitresses and bartenders. 2. Wifi was very bad from 5-11pm (peak restaurant/bar time) - reason: bar and "hotel" share the same wifi. Guess whom we had to ask? Waiters. These rooms have internet TVs. So, that wasn't working either! 3. Definitely NOT for families with young kids. - Music from the restaurant could get loud. - Right on the highway. We were woken up at 6am by a loud semi/truck passing by. - No floor mats in the room. Imagine coming in from the beach, even with washed feet. - 2 towels for 4 of us. Guess, whom we had to ask? Waiters at the restaurant. 4. Second day (out of 3 day stay) - some plumbing pipe burst somewhere and our toilet water was brown and stinking. We couldn't even stay in the room. See pics. No remorse. No sympathy. No discounts. No compensation. No offer to change rooms etc. We were told verbatim 'someone will work on it. it will be fixed when they fix it'. We couldn't use the bathroom or toilet on day 2. We checked out and went to a different hotel. 5. Restaurant - service was extremely slow. Every meal - took about 2 hours minimum. 6. Description says 'Garden View'. It's a small patch of plants in front of the room. Those are the only things blocking customers going to the restaurant. It's a very popular surfing beach...imagine the foot traffic from morning to evening!
• Krzysztof (2/5): Don’t recommend - It is close to the beautiful beach with beach bar serving best food nearby. The room was disgusting. It was very dark, dirty and it smelled really bad of damp. There was also a mold on the wall and the sheets were dirty as well. We even saw a cockroach in the room. The hotel is located by the busy road, the trucks run for the whole night so forget about sleep. The parking is really small, so it is very hard to park your car and sometimes you can get blocked by other cars.
• Esteban (7/5): Good - The place is beach-front, so that is great! The room was very nice and clean. The place is actually a restaurant, and they have some rooms available for lodge. While the room was very confortable, the restaurant music is loud and they close very late, so please consider that if you look for privacy and relaxing. Also the parking is shared with the restaurant, and there are only few spots, so you will probably park behind a car and then someone will ask you to move your car so the first vehicle can left the restaurant. That was not expected since I wrote a message few days before to arrive asking for how the parking works without response.

Rooms are very basic and by the highway and the music plays till about 11:00 so this isn’t a great spot to stay if you need to rest. This is a surf hotel so it’s all about the beach, surfing and party vibe and in this they do an excellent job.

Nice restaurant decor & food was pretty good as breakfast was included with room. Seemed a bit disorganized on who to talk to about questions about the hotel room. A direct contact should be provided. Wifi did not work well the entire time! Room should have bug screens & did not like that we had to leave the key for cleaning staff. There should be spare keys so unfortunately our room was not cleaned every day. & with beach front it collects more sand. Most of the staff were very nice.

Great Beach and a bit more lively than other parts we had visited We were lucky to arrive on a Saturday for the weekly surf competition Vida Hermosa only had 3 rooms but they were perfect and its right on the beach Nothing - everything good

It was right next to the road, so we could hear the cars all the time. The staff didn’t answer on booking .com prior arriving, and we had some requests upon arrival.

The restaurant and bar itself are nice with great sunset vibes with good food and drinks (however not the included breakfast) Breakfast is very bad compared to what the restaurant has to offer. They said that it is starting from 7 am. However in the checkout day when we had to leave at 7:30 max there was nobody in the restaurant/bar at 7 am as they mentioned. The bed sheets were dirty and were not changed (hair and sand could be seen). We reported this and the waitress said that she doesn’t have the key for the laundry. She offered us another room, she mentioned it is clean. We went and same story - the room was prepared but the bedsheets were dirty and unchanged. They tried to trick us after 10 minutes to “change” the bedsheets in the other room not in ours. The owner came the next day and said that he heard that was a misunderstanding without offering any apologies or anything. Room is very loud (you can hear everything from the street). Somebody was sleeping on the bench in front of our room in the second night (don’t know if from the street, or an employee, but it is just not normal). Go there for drinks and dinner but don’t stay there!

• Moisoccg (9/5): Comfortable - It was important for us to bring our pet which we could and was wonderful, it was really close to the beach which made it really easy to go to the room in case we needed anything. People were friendly a lot of movement in the bar in the night. The food was really good, breakfast, lunch, and drinks. All good. Parking could be a little tricky, but there's usually a person helping out.
• Caroline (10/5): Amazing - It was amazing! The personnel was friendly and generous, the place was clean, had good wifi and good AC and the beach/restaurant/vibe was amazing. The waves were nice and big and the restaurant was really good. To cap it all out, the view from the hotel was mind blowing. Could have a bit more cleaning of the room during the stay because we had some sand in our room.

Rooms are functional but fairly basic (though for the reasonable price, nothing to complain about). - The most unfriendly staff we have come across in the country (or really in any country). Drinks and food were served with barely a word. When we went to breakfast, it was empty and three members of staff still chose to ignore us arriving, glancing over but continuing to talk amongst themselves. When I went over to ask where I could sit, one just looked at me as if I was stupid and said simply “anywhere”. Once more, food/drink orders and service were served without even a word - just an acknowledging grunt. - Also not sure why breakfast was rated highly. From the extensive breakfast menu, we were bluntly informed we could only have one option on it, naturally the cheapest.

• Chauvin (10/5): If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this ain’t for you. Vida Hermosa is true to Pura Vida. - The room came with free typical Costa Rican breakfast which was fresh and very good. The beach is amazing and the location of the hotel/bar/restaurant was key. Everything was fantastic. Could not have asked for more.

• Mary-jane (4/5): Sad to find out it was a bar/restaurant with 3 after thought rooms up front. This is not a hotel! - The breakfast was Okay. The first 2 mornings we could get anything on the ONE column of the menu. On the last morning, no, only 2 choices and if we wanted anything else, we would have to pay the difference. Interestingly, most of the menu was within 1000 crons of each other, but we could only choose the 2 cheapest things on the menu?? The "options" advertised on Booking.com, were only if you payed the difference. The rest of the menu and food was very good. This is not a hotel. This is a bar/restaurant with 3 rooms at the front of the business. Our room was 1 meter from the parking lot and 7 meters from the road, that trucks were driving by all day and using air brakes. Being a bar/restaurant the clients had to walk about 3 meters away, past the rooms to get the the Bar/restaurant. Not quietly. The bar was open until 10pm every night. Parking was hit and miss. NOT free private parking, it was only if the bar clients didn't fill it first. "oh, well park across the street, and later tonight you can park here" Across the street was just a blank space in the trees. Beach front was the restaurant, not the hotel. To use the tables on the beach, you had to jockey with the bar clients.

Food great.Staff were ok but not overtly friendly.like the usual lovely people of costa rica...the manager was away so maybe they are the welcoming person. Overall enjoyed it.

Great place to stop for a brief stay if you are travelling on down the highway. Only three miles from Jaco if you want to check it out. Thanks Juan Pura Vida! The parking is very limited but if you are renting a room they try to make sure there is a space available for your rental.

• Domen (6/5): Beach a few meters away, most of the staff was not friendly - The location was perfect, couldn't be closer to the beach. The breakfast that was included was good (typical Gallo Pinto). The restaurant was also nice. The room was damp and had an unpleasant smell, the window couldn't be locked (ground floor, could be opened from outside). Had to pay for accommodation in cash, which was not ideal, since we had to take an Uber to the near town Jaco to get to the bank/ATM. The main disappointment was the staff, generally in Costa Rica the people were really warm, friendly and nice, yet here most of the staff was aloof and unresponsive to our requests (one of the examples: had to order coffee 2 times - still didn't get it, even though the place was almost empty).

• Annina (8/5): nice rooms for one or two nights but not longer - Very cosy room, we slept very well there. Nice location. Very close to the beach. Helpful staff. They found a solution for our problems in the room! The toilet flush was very weak and stopped working when we were there. Someone fixed it quickly though. Then our AC stopped working. We had to change to another hotel next door. They payed for this night though which was very nice of the owner! The staff is friendly but you never know who is in charge of the rooms and who is working for the restaurant. Had to ask things several times to several people.

The restaurant had good food, service was good, and lots of tables right on the beach if you want that option. Occasionally noisy, walkway goes by the rooms, and road noise. Love music in the restaurant, but it ended early. But at night it was OK.

• Adri (10/5): Nice place in front of the beach - Happy Hour in front of the beach is amazing. Rooms are safe and the staff is really nice. Great Environment! Matresses are uncomfortable

• Chiara (9/5): Superb - the room is few steps from the beach and the sunset there is awesome. it is the right place to be if you like to surf and dancing by the beach the room could be really noisy because attached to it there is the restaurant/beach club
• Jacek (5/5): Passable - It is mostly beach bar with 3 rooms. Food (included and not) is delicious. Staff is nice. The beach is superb for surfing. The problem is that you have no privacy except when you hide behind curtains in your room. That is because path to the bar is next to the only window of your room and there is no garden only to the “hotel” guests. It seems ok for staying one night but 3 nights with lack of privacy, noise from road and bar were too much for me.
