Guest Reviews
- Siobhan (8/5): - Great value for money and a lovely view from the balcony. Close enough to town to walk in. Staff where so helpfully, planned and booked lots of things for me.
- Yoly (8/5): - Lili se portó estupendamente con nosotros. La habitación está limpia y es amplia. Tener que subir escaleras con las maletas
- Ellen (10/5): A lovely place to stay - This is a lovely family run place to stay very close to the town centre. It’s easy to walk to restaurants etc. as a solo female, I felt very safe here. As for the room, My bed was comfy and the view from the terrace is fantastic
The real highlight was Lilly! She is a wonderful hostess. She is so kind and helpful. She gladly helps you organise tours/ activities and makes delicious breakfasts!
Pura Vida No complaints
- Heidi (8/5): Very good - The breakfast is good. The owner are very nice and kind. They also let me to late checkout to wait the bus
- Nouraaa (4/5): Definitely not recommended for solo travellers - -Quick check in
- they prepared a breakfast for me because I was leaving early, though I appreciate it, it could've been a much better breakfast
- he gave me a room and said he's giving me this one instead as it's a private bathroom - lights/electricity went out randomly at 9:50 pm, pitch dark and no way to charge the phone
- no replies on WhatsApp from reception and when I called him a few times he said he was already sleeping at around 10:20 pm. Then he replied and said that sometimes the lights go off like that because of the wind but it seemed like the whole city lights were on...
- I heard weird drumming the whole time the lights were off even late at night
- seemed like nobody else was staying there except a weird man upstairs that wouldn't say hello when I greeted him
- window was open when I went in the room and there was no net which means random bugs can come inside
- it smelled of cat litter so strongly in reception and the room and the bathroom had a really bad smell as well, felt like I would be sick
- it was a super uncomfortable stay where I barely got sleep
- the blanket on the bed and the sheets were uncomfortable
- Demi (10/5): Recommended in Monteverde!! - Very clean and spacious! Nice breakfast too
- Sűrű (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosario (8/5): Very good - Good location. Fair value for accommodation and breakfast. Owners are friendly and helpful. I came to stay twice.
- Jon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michal (5/5): 2 nights stay - location
breakfast
option to use kitchen
parking uncomfortable bed
very smaĺ room
- Atulin (10/5): Exceptional - I had my best time while staying here, the room is clean and comfortable, breakfast is delicious. I even saw the lunar eclipse at night, a wonderful experience to me.
- Pavlina (10/5): A safe, comfortable, clean, and friendly place - They look after you as if you were a family. I felt comfortable and safe.
Perfect location, filling breakfast, and tours and laundry services.
- Vaclav (9/5): Superb -
- Sienko (7/5): Clean, basic, - Breakfast was good. Location was okay. The place was a bit noisy. The shuttle service was non-existent but I was told about. Okay for the price.
- Mark (9/5): Great quality for the price - clean & comfortable - Great to have breakfast ; coffee included in the morning , chairs , deck outside our room #[ were so relaxing
- Gillian (10/5): Wonderful experience, felt at home - Amazing stay at a lovely family-owned business. Fresh breakfast prepared every morning with a beautiful view of the mountains. I felt very taken care of during my stay, especially as a solo traveler. Would highly recommend staying at Cabinas Nuestra Kasa!
- Susanne (9/5): Superb - Great location, you can walk everywhere on foot, really cool terrace views over the town, big and clean rooms and delicious and plentyful breakfast.
Jeremy, Fabiola and Seidi are wonderful people. We had good conversations and they were really helpful with everything. I booked all my tours with them, easy reliable and quick. Would definitely stay there again.
- Jeff (8/5): Very good - Jeremy was an awesome host that accommodated last minute changes Motorbike traffic at night right outside the room made it tough to sleep at times...obvious not their fault
- Ioana (8/5): Beautiful view but a bit noisy - The view to the forest allows you to see the clouds rolling in.
The terrace offers a cosy place to unwind, watch the rain and the clouds.
The room has this big window with a view to the terrace/village Lots of noise pollution from both streets, even late in the evening. There were motorcycles passing in high speed and the house is by the road. I had to sleep with earplugs.
No storage space for clothes. Had we been the exact number of people as the room allowed we would have to keep everything in the suitcases/backpacks.
- Sandra (10/5): ¡Gracias a la familia de Nuestra Kasa! - I felt warmly received by Nuestra Kasa, a family run B&B that takes great care of guests. Breakfasts were wonderful, always with a fresh fruit plate and varied options prepared by Saydi. Host Jeremy had excellent advice on things to do for my interests. He kindly arranged for pickups to cloud forests and reserves for hiking and my transportation for arriving in Monteverde as well as the shuttle to the coast. My room was large and clean. I enjoyed the terrace overlooking Santa Elena for relaxing and watching clouds sunrises and rainbows. I even had the opportunity for seeing an amazing sunset on a beautiful day with family. All lovely
- Nora (9/5): Superb - This is a family hostal, and you feel like that. Everyone is nice and helpful with all your needs, from helping with the luggage, giving information prior and after arrival, upgrading room, etc.
- Julie (4/5): In the center of Santa Elena - Great breakfast. In town within walking of stores and groceries.
- Arnout (8/5): Nice central place to explore Manuel Antonio. - Very well equipped kitchen. It was first place with a rice cooker we have seen in 3,5 months. It didn't work, and we immediately got ome that worked. room was spacy. The location was well centred. The beda were uncomfortable
- Kent (9/5): Superb - Convenient location. Clean facilities. Friendly staff. 2nd floor balcony has a good view of the town of Monteverde.
- Annemarie (10/5): Exceptional - Such a win-win experience family run accommodations. Support them please.
- Maureen (10/5): Exceptional - Jeremy was so helpful and made our stay excellent.
- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Camille (10/5): Highly recommend staying - Jeremy is an excellent host who offers genuine hospitality. My room and shared spaces were clean and bright. Breakfast is fantastic and filling. (Coffee, or tea, fruit and pancakes.) Located near several restaurants and a mini super. A very short walk into the downtown area. Everything met or exceeded my standards.
- Brian (9/5): great place, friendly staff, awesome week - This is a great place walkable to everything. Jeremy, his Mom and Fabiola are amazing hosts with incredible local knowledge. The breakfasts are fantastic! Especially the Gallo Pinto with fried plantains! Literally steps from the best soda and all the downtown fun. Amazing views from the upstairs deck. We had the room with no bathroom window. Without one and in the middle of the cloud forest there is no way to keep it from smelling a little musty.
- Josip (10/5): Exceptional - Jeremy and his family are so nice. Felt like staying with friends.
Everything was clean and the breakfast and coffee was really good.
Price/value is awesome.
Thanks for everything! The only thing which could be better is a new mattress.
- Suvi (10/5): We felt so welcome and we loved the view. - Rooms were spacious and clean. The view from the terrace/balcony was beautiful and we enjoyed it a lot as the weather was good. We really felt (on a good way) that this is a family owned business: everyone was very attentive and service was flexible to our needs. The parking worked well. This place is great value for money, but simple (e.g. low water pressure on shower). I was expecting us to bee in the same room (family of four), but the two rooms next to each other worked very well for us too. If you need a family room, maybe worth sending a message to confirm.
- Behrouz (3/5): The location is amazing. - Hosts are very kind and lovely. The property has an amazing view. Not having hot water and expected better breakfast. But the hosts are lovely.
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Staff very helpful - especially with booking travel on our behalf.
- Linda (9/5): Wonderful stay with amazing hosts! - I had an excellent stay at this accommodation. Jeremy and his parents were incredibly kind and helpful, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The rooms were very clean, and the breakfast was delicious. The only downside was the limited number of power outlets, but that was a minor inconvenience compared to everything else. I would definitely stay here again!
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional - Jeremy, the host, gave us all his attention. He is very helpful, makes delicious breakfast and gives good advices! He let us access to a safe parking next to the accommodation-very important. The stay was worth it and Jeremy made ours even better! I can only recommend! 10/10
- Dilawer (8/5): Very good - Staff so nice and since we are a family of 5 the room was a little bit small for 5 person but the gave us another room with NO EXTRA CHARGE...very nice people.
- Taka (10/5): Great location, friendly owners, great breakfast. - Great deal, great location, walkable to downtown. This is a family-owned facility - the person in the office spoke English well. Note that parking is a very short walk away across the street in a grassy field shared with another hotel, and it costs EXTRA. I don't recommend parking on the street since it feels too narrow. After checking in, they upgraded me I guess because the other/better rooms were available - so I got a bigger room with the balcony looking over the town towards the mountains. The breakfast was also great. Everything was great! Just didn't realize there was extra cost to parking. I didn't mind the 2-minute walk to park.
- Emanuela (7/5): Good - The staff is very nice and Jeremy was helpful in explaining, arranging the activities and reacting to my changes of mind. Breakfast was good and freshly made. The place is pretty simple and quiet. Although the distance from the bus station is not long, carrying heavy luggage is not easy, due to the ups and downs.
- Macdonald (9/5): Superb - Comfortable room, great breakfast, nice location,
friendly and helpful staff.
- Muriel (9/5): Superb -
- Esme (9/5): Great place to stay - We had a lovely time at Nuestra Kasa. Jeremy and his family were really nice and helpful, the room was comfortable and breakfast was simple but good. Location is great, walking distance to everything you need. Great views from the terrace. Nothing!
- Winifer (10/5): I had an amazing time, i loved the view and the birds in the morning - Very good deal for what you get, free breakfast. Very good location a short walk to everything. The beds were a bit on the hard side, but at the end it was good for my back after all the hills and hikes
- 0noa (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Very decent price and location with helpful staff - Great location. Private and a cute kitchen area for breakfast - almost alpine. Single room was clean and the bathroom. Has hot water which is remarkably rare seemingly. Jeremy and his mother were responsive about removing insects that gathered and booking tours on my behalf - Jeremy booked me a taxi for my 16 hour nightmare journey from the border. Breakfast was great - always a plate of fruit and eggs. Coffee also good. Bed and pillows were inexplicably hard and lumpy.
- Dora (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were very kind and gave us useful tips.
Breakfast was delicious, loads of fresh fruit.
- Robin (9/5): Basic but really welcoming! - Jeremy and his wife are the bests hosts - I got a super warm welcome, they can help you out with tours, activities and transport, and they werre easily reachable over whatsapp. Both the room and bathroom were basic but decent, and a private room that sleeps 3 for 40USD is pretty good value for money in CR. The freshly cooked breakfast in the morning was a nice plus! Probably not for you if you require luxury and private amenities.
- Kerstin (8/5): Perfect little hostel - The most amazing staff. Everybody was absolutely lovely and helped with everything. Even before we even arrived or checked in. Whenever a question arose, it was quickly solved.
You can book tours and shuttles at the hotel.
The room was small but very clean.
We really enjoyed our stay!
(The Soda two doors up the street was absolutely amazing, too.)
- Emily (8/5): It was exactly as expected and like the photos! - It was exactly as appeared on the photos and had a nice view. The breakfast was simple but good. The floors, bathroom and bedding could’ve been more clean.
- Tiziana (8/5): A very good place to discover Monteverde from. - This is a central property in Monteverde . It is comfortable , very clean, good breakfast. However what makes it really special is Jeremy and his family. Totally there to help, whatever you need. Booking transfers and trips. Thank you so much for your kindness. The mattress could have been more comfortable. You hear traffic, but quite after a certain time.
- Daria (10/5): Exceptional - I enjoyed the terrace! Jeremy, the host, is super friendly and helpful and his mom as well! Fast internet.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - Jeremy was super helpful and sorted my shuttles to and from Monteverde. Gave me some good recommendations for things to do too! Room was basic but clean and had a lovely view. Definitely recommend.
- Sarah (6/5): Good location. Friendly staff. A little overpriced. - Close to centre of Santa Elena but away from the busy streets. Large balcony to sit on. Breakfast was good, fruit and either scrambled egg or pancakes. Communal kitchen and dining area was good. Very small cramped bathroom with no shelf or anywhere to hang clothes or towels. It was windy when we stayed there and the trees adjacent banged on the wall of the room the whole night - they need trimming back. Expensive
- Maya (6/5): Clean but bad location. - Very good breakfast. Clean bathroom and room. Not at a good location.
- Jasmijn (9/5): Superb - The location was great, there are a lot of things to do in the surroundings. Jeremy helped us a lot with booking shuttles and activities and he and his mother were very kind to us! Breakfast was really nice and we could cook our own dinner in the kitchen. I would highly recommend this place! Our room was directly positioned to the entry lobby that was connected to the kitchen area. This means we woke up when the earliest breakfast shift started (7:00) by other guests. Also, our bathroom was not connected to the room and we had to walk through the lobby to get there, which was slightly uncomfortable.
- Kyle (8/5): Owner was especially nice, helpful, & informative. Basic property, well-located. -
- Freya (10/5): Great and clean hostel with amazing view! - Highly recommended! The owner is superfriendly and helped us with any question we had. He can also arrange the transport to all important places around. Although breakfast is included, there is a communal kitchen that can be used all day.
- K (9/5): Superb - Super lovely hosts!
- Sabrina (8/5): The type of lodging was what was anticipated when we selected it. - WiFi available for work, as well as looking up travel info and places to visit. Jeremy was helpful with information to get to places. Clean. The upper rooms have a terrace and view of the mountain ridge and town. Convenient walking distance from a grocery store and cafes. The kitchen is available to prepare food, although a basic breakfast is part of the lodging price.
- Jana (10/5): Exceptional - Good location, nice view, tasty breakfast, very helpful host.
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and confortable room. The breakfast was also very good. It was a 10/10 experience! Nothing to say
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - The owners mother and son were very kind and gracious. They do laundry. Nice breakfast. Beautiful view of the town from the terrace though it was too windy to sit out. We had rainbows both days.
- Jack (7/5): A nice stay, in a good location and an attentive host. - Jeremy was very attentive and responsive to messages. He was more than happy to help organise shuttles, checkout, breakfast etc. it was nice to have a bit of privacy having my own room after a while of being in hostels. Nothing to report. It was all pretty positive.
- Cas (7/5): Good for a 1 or 2 night stay - Its a place that is located really central, the people are nice and are very helpful to help you with everything. Everything is quite basic, from the room until the food. For what its worth its a bit expensive for what you get. Breakfast for instance 3 half of slides of bread, bit of butter and some fruit. The same goes for the shower, its really hot and hard or cold and a soft shower no in between. The bed, warm or cold sheets.
- Lana (9/5): Superb - I was welcomed warmly, the hosts were very responsive and helpful. The place is conveniently located at the centre. Nice breakfasts :)
- Thale (8/5): Great stay in Monteverde - The staff was great, and helped us with everything we asked for. It was very clean and the breakfast was delicious! The view from the terrace is really nice and we saw a wide variety of animals whilst enjoying a cup of coffee there. Thank you for the stay Jeremy! The beds are a bit uncomfortable and not very soft, which might be something to consider for people with back problems. There is no air conditioning and only a small window, so on hot days the temperature in the room is quite high.
- Andrew (6/5): Nice, simple, inexpensive, and centrally located bed and breakfast - Cabinas Nuestra Kasa is great value at a great location. You will be an easy walk into Santa Elena for shopping, supplies, and restaurants. And it's easy to drive to your outings. It is run by wonderful people and breakfast is great (local fruits, pancakes, eggs, and toast). But it is low budget for sure. Expect lots of noise at night, no screens in the windows, some decent beds, and some very poor beds (lots of sag in the middle). It has a bit of a hostel feel but you get your own rooms. So if you are looking for an inexpensive centrally located place to stay, this is for sure something to consider. If you enjoy more frills then this may not be the best fit for your family.
- Maria (8/5): Great location - The hotel is very centrally located. Very close to shops, restaurants and tour agencies. The breakfast is nice too. I think the hotel could offer more basic things like soap, for example.
- Cathy (6/5): Central location and nice staff - The staff was pleasant and the room was clean. No hot water for shower. No soap in the bathroom and no glass for water in the room. Road noise.
- Kelly (7/5): A modest, quiet, older home close to town with WiFi, community kitchen, and breakfast included - The owner's son was very attentive with communication and being available if help was needed. Recommendations were provided when requested for dinner and directions. The proximity to town and the price was very good. The area was quiet. Once the WiFi got upgraded upstairs, it worked well. We had a nice view of the city below us from the back porch deck chairs. We appreciated the use of the kitchen and kept our ice cream in the freezer and more in the refrigerator. The owners served us fresh cut up fruit, eggs, and toast one morning and pancakes the next. Staying here is better than camping. We appreciated the owners opening up their home for travelers like us, and hopefully one day they will be able to afford some additional renovations by skilled tradesmen to improve the facilities to better standards. The bathroom sink faucet would rotate out of place when trying to turn it off. The shower was cold. The door to the outside was rickety. Being from a colder climate, we would have appreciated at least a fan for better ventilation since there was no AC with one tiny window that opened to the street and another on the back side. We didn't pay much for the room, so we didn't expect a resort. We had the most important things we needed and appreciated our stay.
- Haihua (7/5): Good - Location is very convenient, and close to everything. It is quiet during night. The upper floor deck has very good forest view The bathroom is narrow and the sink is very tight to use. Not enough bathroom room supply is provided.
- Jeroen (8/5): Very good - Basic place but very pleasant. Excellent care by the Jeremy who is very helpful, overall would recommend.
- Sandra (9/5): Superb -
- Nancy (10/5): Awesome loved it - Location close to Santa Elena do you could walk to everything.
- Dinara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - I liked how attentive and helpful Jeremy was with things like providing the different options for tours, travel and where to eat, even suggesting the cheaper budget possibilities. Nothing
- Emma (8/5): Very good - Great assistance from Jeremy who runs the place.very helpful and responsive Wi-Fi was inconsistent in the room, did not have much connectivity.
- Tom (9/5): Superb -
- Anja (10/5): Very kind personnel, good value for money - Great view, very nice personnel, quiet rooms, really nice stay, good value for money Nothing😁
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Molly (7/5): Good - The owners were really lovely and it was a great location The shower didn’t work very well.
Lots of bugs crawled out from under the walls, which wasn’t very nice
- Helmut (7/5): Good - It*s a nice B&B, friendly staff, central location with supermarkets, restaurants close by.
my room had a view to the mountains.
- Yaniv (9/5): Superb -
- Alessandro (10/5): Exceptional - Jeremy is the best, help me before and after my arrive. Very good breakfast!
- Simone (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vito (9/5): Superb - Jeremy and family are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is great, location is solid, and Jeremy helped book all of my tours and was very responsive via text. The only downside was I experienced WiFi issues during half of my stay. Apparently the router broke. I suspect this wouldn’t be a problem going forward! Also, the two dogs next door can sometimes be a little threatening if you get too close to their property.
- Sa1223 (8/5): Good price, nice views, good location - For the price, everything was amazing! The rooms upstairs had great view of the mountains and the town. The terrace was spacious. Jeremy and the rest of the staff were very friendly, helpful and responsive.
It was close to downtown. With everything being so pricey in Monteverde and in Costa Rica in general, I'd definitely recommend this place not only for the price, but also for the hospitality. There is no WiFi upstairs. No one told us about it when we booked a night there later. Luckily I had some data left and had to share it with my wife through hotspot.
The pancake breakfast was too light. It was only 3 regular pancakes per peson and a plate of fruits. However, they served a different breakfast next day with toast and scrambled eggs which was nice.
- Anuj (8/5): Very good - Excellent location and host! Water was not enough in the shower. Bathroom is very basic!
- Maria (8/5): Very good - Very helpful and nice staff
Helped us with the night tour
Good breakfast
Nice balcony Our room had a moisty smell, but our kids room was good
- Laurent (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms are clean and roomy, the location is perfect, close to the center. Jeremy has been very helpul and gave me good advices . Will definitely come back. Thanks you for all. Nothing
- Gregory (9/5): good people rnning it. good value - value and clean good people zero
- Claudia (9/5): Superb - staff super helpful and very comfortable room.
- Clive (7/5): Good -
- Nicole (10/5): Jeremy was so helpful and accommodating. We’ve stayed at 7 different hotels here in Costa Rica and we enjoyed our stay h - the location was perfect! clean and tidy, good views from the balcony. there were lots of dogs barking and motorcycles at night
- Lea (8/5): Very good -
- Orlaigh (10/5): Beautiful views and great hospitality, would highly recommend! - We stayed on the first floor and the view from our room was beautiful! Our room was really comfortable, clean and quiet. Jeremy was very welcoming and kind, he arranged any excursions, shuttles, etc which was really convenient. The location of the accommodation is ideal, tasty breakfast, and excellent value. We would highly recommend to anyone coming to stay in Monteverde!
- Julian (9/5): Superb - Jeremy was very pleasant and helpful. The room was very clean, and the facilities were as well. The breakfast was quite good, and very nicely arranged. We were very pleased with our stay.
- Adonai (9/5): Superb -
