• Adele (5/5): Satisfactory at best. - The bed was large and comfortable. The room was cleaned well when we arrived. Our toilet did not flush, so it sounded like a water fountain all night long. We asked them to fix it, translated to Turkish with difficulty. They said they would but they did not! The big shower head also did not work. The cleaner never came even though we put the sign on the door twice. We had to ask for more toilet roll, we didn’t get fresh towels. The room was smaller than pictured and had no balcony!
• Elisabeth (9/5): - Wir hatten zwei Doppelzimmer zur Einzelnutzung. Die Schlafzimmer waren hell, sauber, gut ausgestattet. Das Hotel liegt an der stark belebten Küstenstraße, beide Zimmer lagen aber nach hinten heraus und hatten einen Balkon mit Blick auf eine kleine Gartenanlage, so dass die Straße kaum zu hören war. Das Badezimmer des kleineren Zimmers war ausreichend groß, gut ausgestattet und sauber, das Badezimmer des größeren Zimmers war weiträumig und fast luxuriös mit schwarzem Marmor ausgekleidet. Genau gegenüber des Hotels liegt ein gutes Fischrestaurant direkt am Bosporus. Die nächste Bushaltestelle ist etwa 100 m entfernt. Es gab ein leckeres lokales Frühstück. Wir waren mit unserem Aufenthalt sehr zufrieden und können das Hotel Mateo gerne weiter empfehlen.
• Nadur (2/5): - Good Location The window of our room overlooked the restaurant on the same floor. During the day, we couldn’t open the curtains because guests from the restaurant could easily see inside our room, which compromised our privacy. At night, the lights in the restaurant were left on, and the curtains in the room were not sufficient to block the light, leaving the room completely bright and making it very difficult to sleep. I had also asked the receptionist during the day if I could book a taxi for 4:00 AM. I was assured that it would not be a problem and that I just needed to come by reception and one would be arranged. However, when I went down the next morning, a different receptionist informed me that the hotel does not provide this service. I was left stranded at 4:00 AM, without any assistance, no contact numbers, and no recommendations for an app or taxi service to use. I was simply told to “go out and find one yourself,” which was extremely stressful and unacceptable.

If you’re concerned about it not being on the European side, just be a bit clever with travelling options (e.g. the 15 bus to Üsküdar then a quick ferry to the very heart of downtown Istanbul at Eminönü).
• Verified traveler (2/5): - öncelikle sıcak su ile duş alamadık, resepsiyona sorunu bildidiğimizde 30 dakika içinde sorun çözüleceği söylendi ama çözülmedi, mecburen soğuk su ile duş aldık, odadaki telefon çalışmıyordu bu yüzden resepsiyona gitmek zorunda kaldık ve resepsiyon sorunumuz ile pek ilgilenmedi. Kahvaltı içinse selfie servis olduğu yazıyordu fakat sabah kahvaltı için gittiğimizde selfie servis olmadığını ve sadece bize getirilen tabaktakileri yedik. Kışın burada kahvaltı yapmanızı önermiyorum çünkü yemek yenilen alan yaz aylarına uygun olduğundan kış mevsiminde çok soğuk ve kapıdan gelen soğuk hava yüzünden bir an önce kahvaltımızı bitirip odamıza geri gittik.
• Okba (8/5): Plan your new year stay at this hotel - Everything was great, except the heating wasn’t quite right, and the water wasn’t hot enough. But other than that, the staff was super friendly. The lady who made breakfast was really nice and welcoming. The room was super clean, and there was a nice gift and flowers waiting for us. And the great part of our stay, we got to watch the New Year’s fireworks from our room.

• Nayla (4/5): Disappointing - The location is the best : hotel is located in a nice area on the Asian side of Istanbul. - I made an early reservation for one standard room as I was travelling alone as a solo traveller. But five days before my arrival as I was in contact with the hotel, they pretended I had a reservation for 3 standard rooms instead of one room, which was completely false ! I strongly rejected this statement and asked them to search from where this mistake came. They said they would check it out and come back to me. I had to recontact them myself two days before my arrival to learn that it was due to an error that occurred as they switched to a new booking system and that they cancelled the wrong booking. Waiting for this problem to be sorted out, I lived stressful days before my arrival imagining I could be asked to pay for two additional rooms I never booked. That was not a pleasant situation. - At check-in at hotel, their credit card reader machine was not functioning, so payment couldn't be processed. They tried it twice without success and told me they would contact their bank to solve the problem so we could try it again the day after. The problem was not coming from my credit card as just 3 days before I paid with it for my hotel in Spain and it worked perfectly without any problem. - First night I spent there was awful. The room was very hot like a sauna, and very noisy because next to the reception (sound isolation is really bad). And the air conditioner fixed facing the bed was not well placed, I ended up with a soar throat as when turned on it was blowing cold air directly on my chest and my throat while lying on the bed. So, I had to turn it off to sleep and endured the heat. As I was suffocating and couldn't sleep, I opened the bathroom window at night to get some fresh air, but unfortunately, I got a mosquito in the room that kept me awake until sun rises. It was a terrible sleepless night after a tiring long travel and jetlag. I was exhausted 😩 - At noon, I went to the reception to try it again with the payment by card.

• Rancic (1/5): Disappointing. - N/A That was not hotel ,that is a hostel . They don’t have room service and they did not mention that. Every day they were doing some construction and place was so noisy. They never call to replace towels. When I arrived they give me room under the hotel,basically. I told them that is not my booking because i booked with double room balcony. They moved me to another room and asked me to pay 100e more ,which I didn’t want to do. I paid already 554e for normal room . I left two nights earlier because I was so disappointed and I couldn’t relax and sleep because of the noise. Breakfast was so poor. Do go with that at all !!!!So big disappointment!!!

• Branimir (9/5): Great, renovated hotel on the Asian side of Istanbul - Breakfast is either served in the room or in the restaurant area. It's not a buffet, instead you get a nice assortment of vegetables and cheese on trays. The rooms are spacious and everything is newly renovated. We were on the ground floor and we had ants pop up next to bathroom doors. Nothing a bit of hair spray couldn't fix, but we kept finding alates flying around which was slightly annoying.
