• Jason (8/5): Unbeatable location, great for families! - Banrai Hotel was the first hotel of my planned trip to Japan that I was excited about: mostly because of its location (literally right outside one of the exits of Asakusa Station, which is one of my favorite parts of Tokyo), but also because it was new, modern, stylish, with a cool-looking restaurant on the ground floor. A little on the spendy side, but that's to be expected from a boutique hotel (whatever the hell that term means). In reality, the Banrai Hotel lives up to just about all of my expectations. The location is simply UNBEATABLE. Our room, which was furnished with four twin bunk beds, was surprisingly large, and awesome for our family, which included two toddlers; the mattresses were "comfy enough"; there's no TV, which I found I did not miss. There was only a small shower (no ofuro), which was a little disappointing, as was the $10/day room cleaning fee (you get one free cleaning if you stay 3+ days, which we did, and was the only time we used it). The laundry on the ground floor is *chef's kiss*: those industrial washer/dryer units do it all in a single go (60 mins), and don't require you to insert any detergent, making our mid-trip clothes cleaning effort cinch! 1,000 yen ($6) is an absolute STEAL for that level of convenience! This is an absolutely excellent hotel, and one that I would not hesitate to book again in the future.
• Azalia (10/5): - Great location. Close to everything we needed and wanted to see Room consisted of 2 bunk beds with the bottom bunk on tatami mats. Beds were very comfortable.

• Kevin (10/5): - Perfect location for a Tokyo Trip. Interesting things around in foot distance, only 1 Minute to a good station, others very close. Good oldschool atmosphere and attractions around, also not too loud and not as crowded later at night/early morning. Easily accessibly with english and so on, but still authentic and can go a few streets of main locations to not be in a too touristy area. With some good timing the prices for the hotel were very affordable (50€ per person per day avg). Personal is very nice and helpful but the offered services and facilities are a bit mediocre. Rooms are relatively clean and comfortable, but very small and not fancy. The restaurant/bar downstars is okayish. I liked the unrelated roof terrace bar thingy on top, a bit relaxed young casual atmosphere. Daily breakfast was fine, solid quality and japanese style but with some western influences. But after a week or so I preferred to be flexible with timing and have very different styles on my own. Overall the hotel itself isnt that great, but it does what is needed and has very nice staff. The perfect location and decent price make up for the small rooms and so on.
• Jasiel (10/5): - I love the mix of traditional and modern style of the room that we stayed in. The room is also very spacious and the beds are big and comfortable. The location is excellent, it’s very close to the station and famous landmarks, and also convenience stores. i will definitely book this place again when I come back to Japan
• Lorraine (10/5): - The hotel and room were very clean and quiet. Room was spacious enough for 3 adults to comfortably sleep in and have room to sit and eat. We took Narita Express directly to Asakusa station and only had to walk 50m to hotel. Excellent location!!

• Mercy A (8/5): - Banrai was perfect for our first two nights in Tokyo. It was so convenient to get there from the airport via the subway. The room was comfy for the four of us (two teens and 2 adults). Breakfast is not easy to find on the weekends near this hotel so arranging for breakfast at the hotel might be a good option. We are at 7-11 which as wed heard was a totally fun and good experience in Tokyo.
• Debbie (8/5): Great hotel with basic bed. - Place was super clean and staff was friendly. The only thing that is an issue is the bed is uncomfortable. I weight about 150 and I can feel the springs. It’s tolerable for 1 night stay but for this reason I can’t recommend. Everything else is great. Clean and good shower pressure. And they even recived packages for me and let me store luggage when checked out. Price was great for location.
• Natalia Therese (10/5): - My family and I booked this hotel last minute and we loved it! From the location to the service, this place is awesome. They have an elevator stairs to go up to the rooms, including a restaurant on the first floor. We booked a room suitable for up to 8 people and it was very clean and presentable. Our only issues were the bathroom door is opaque so you won’t get much privacy when using the toilet/shower and there was not a lot of noise filtration shielding us from the outside, as a lot of noise was able to come inside the room (but was expected because of New Years, not the hotel at fault). Other than that, this hotel was awesome! I’d book again :)

• Verified traveler (8/5): シンプルで快適。 - 室内でWi-Fiが繋がりにくかったのでフロントに問い合わせたところ、他のWi-Fiを提案していただいて快適に過ごせました。 テレビとバスタブが無く、必要最低限のシンプルな間取りです。 素泊まりなので私的には十分でした。 都営浅草線「浅草駅」A4出口を出て左を見ると ホテルがすぐに分かりました。 立地がとても良いです。
• Yuko (10/5): - 都営浅草線の浅草駅の出口を出て本当にすぐ！で驚きました。スタッフの方はフレンドリーで、部屋もシンプルで必要なものは揃っていました。大通りから一本入ったところですが、夜は騒々しさはなく、静かでした。 子連れでも問題なく過ごせました！
• Sofio (2/5): - We pre-booked and paid for our rooms in May 2024 for an October stay. Come October, we showed up with confirmations in hand and was told that the rooms had been overbooked and we didn't have the rooms we requested. Staff was apologetic and immediately re-booked us with an Air bnb that had 1-bathroom/toilet for 12 people. We finally checked-in at around 10 pm but was told that we had to be checked out by 10 am due to a previous booking. Not sure how the overbooking happened but check 72-hours before you arrive regardless of having paid ahead for your stay.
• Christian (8/5): - Great stay overall - breakfast was very filling (rice, miso soup, egg, sausage, fish, cold tea), and extremely convenient location right next to Ginza and Asakusa lines. Room was a bit on the smaller side, and the ceiling a bit low too, but overall okay even with two luggage bags (can’t really open them both at the same time). It can be a bit noisy at night because of the rooftop bar so something to note when booking. Great value for location and service.

• Raymond (10/5): - The hotel is located right next to the Asakusa station A4 exit. You can walk to the Kaminarimon (landmark temple gate with huge lantern) within a minute, no joking. That says the hotel is in prime location of Asakusa. The staffs were nice and warm, even though some are not fluent in English but they will try their best to explain things. My son also got 5 Pokemon cards :D from the staff. The breakfast was nice. The room is bigger that what we expected, I believe they upgrade us to a 2 bunkbed room, which can easily sleeps 8 ppl. This hotel is awesome even though this is not a big hotel or from any well known hotel chain.

• anita (6/5): - Location is right on the left side of one of Asakusa stations's exit, it's 2 minutes walk to Kaminorimon so I really enjoy to be able walking around Asakusa at night. For the price and location, it's a steal. My room was meant for 3 person, so its very spacious since i travelled solo. there's a restaurant on groundfloor, rental kimono on 4th floor and rooftop bar on 5th floor, so its convenient if thats what you're looking for good laundry room - the noise is big reason why i won't recommend this place. I'm not a party person, so listening to electronic music from 7 to past midnight while trying to sleep is not fun. If i may suggest, it should be a mandatory that door between floor & hallways need to be kept closed when the bar is operating to reduce noise, because it really disturb guests. - I really love the Japanese style room, however mattress was quite thin, i can feel the metal peer inside the mattress perhaps invest in better one. I think if they improve amenities, service and noises, there's big potential for this place.
• Jeremy (8/5): - Great location with English speaking staff. Can highly recommend karaoke at the bar on the first floor at night. It's no frills which, in my opinion, is exactly what you want as especially a single traveler. Sometimes Japanese hotel hospitality can be overbearing, but this place feels friendly and casual.

• LUDOVIC CHARLES (2/5): - This was the worst experience hotel I've ever been to. As soon as I walked into the room (with no windows) I smelled a strong chemical odor but didn't think too much of it. Took a quick shower, bathroom was nice (great shower pressure and very new and clean) and went out. Came home late and went to bed, woke up a couple hours later and could not go back to sleep because of awful chemical smell. Pretty sure it was Formaldehyde. Disgusting chemical smell that made it impossible to go back to sleep. Now several weeks later I still have a burning sensation in my throat. The Hotel refused not refund me for the night I spent but agreed through Expedia Rep to cancel and refund the rest of my stay. I never complain or leave negative reviews, but this place is not safe, please do not stay here! I still worry about the effect this will have on my overall health.

Going on you see a hallway there is a door on the left that went into the bar. Which is where you check in. They schedule the time for breakfast. They make it fresh for you at that time.

• Sterling (10/5): - Banrai Hotel was a very small hotel with a very family run feel to it. They made me a personalized breakfast each morning that was delicious and beautiful in its presentation. The best part was that the hotel was just steps from the Asakusa line station. I got off the train the first time there, and I could see the hotel right at the end of the street. The room I got was small but perfect if you are just looking for a clean bed to sleep in and a shower before heading back out into Tokyo for the day. Highly recommend.

• Rosina (10/5): Book this hotel you won’t regret it. - Banrai is great if you’re staying for 2-3 nights. It’s literally a 2 minute walk from a 7/11 if you need snacks or Yamato. It’s a quick block away from so many things to do. And if you’re coming for Sakura season you’ll find the most beautiful walk of sakuras close by. The room we stayed in was HUGE and was the largest by far our entire trip in Japan. The service is very sweet and nice and spoke decent English to get by. It’s very easy to find due to their big letters and the building is partially red, in case you’re taking the train to the hotel. Oh not to mention their washing machines are superior to any hotel. They wash and dry clothes within a hour and you’re on your way! I had to find out the hard way because my next few stays had awfully weak washer and dryers. There’s also a bar/restaurant open in the evenings for good food. And they give you free drink tickets! Only negative thing I had to say is when I arrived they did not clean out the fridge from the last person so stayed.

• Sherwin (10/5): - I took a chance on this hotel as the hotel I had before does not exist anymore in Asakusa. Positive: I was looking for a hotel that was next to the train staton and this was it! Friendly staff and willing to do their best to help and suggest things to eat and do. Negatives: The room I got was a tatami style room where it is a futon on a mat floor and you sleep on top of the futon. It is not really ideal for side sleepers like I am but adjusted after a while and was lucky enough to have extra pillows since my room was for 4 people. Next time I will probably ask for extra pillows to be comfortable. This minor inconvenience does not bother me as much as I am rarely on the room and prioritize travel than sleep. The other thing I like to point out I noticed the walls or windows maybe thin and can hear outside or rooms as well. Again does not bother much for the same reason above but someone else might be. Despite that, I totally recommend this hotel for the convenient access to asakusa line which can go to either Narita or Haneda straight if needed. The staff are super helpful and considerate as they let me leave my luggage for last minute shopping after checkout. I do believe as of this writing March 2024 they will learn and improve to be an excellent hotel. I look forward to use this hotel on my next trip to Tokyo.

If you are expecting a Western style experience in the beds, daily cleaning and breakfast this place is not the right fit for you. However, if you a wonderful Japanese experience, it’s a perfect place. The breakfasts are amazing dinning experience. Different yummy food everyday. So much better than an American buffet.
