• alan (4/5): UNACCEPTABLE - Arrived at hotel and was greeted by the owners, BUT than proceeded to go to the office to take down our details IE Passport etc which we had already done on line?, than proceeded to take money for Local Taxes and Breakfast ,which in all of our other stays was not done until checkout, as if they didn't trust us. After having a dinner which was a poor selection of choice we retired to our room and read for a while as there was no TV in the room . By this time we decided to go to bed only to find the bottom bed sheet had spots of blood and hairs on NOT GOOD But by this time hotel was in darkness and no Phone or way to contact anyone...So had to sleep fully clothed on top of duvet as was not prepared to sleep om dirty sheet. AT 23.30 WAS WOKEN WITH WATER RUSHING SOUND IN THE WALLS ...room 15 In the morning we proceeded down for Breakfast which for what was on offer was not to the value of COST. After payed the Bill for previous evening meal and mentioned problems to Owner who was not interested. Would not RECOMMEND this. DIRTY SHEETS AND FACILITY'S
• Bruce (9/5): Came here for the world class open air museum Vogtsbauernhof - Elegant hotel for rest and relaxation with very kind hosts Total relaxation means no TV, and I use German TV to refresh my language skills, so I missed watching Tagesschau. This is a renovated house with stairs. There is no lift, so it is not for people with mobility problems or lots of luggage.

• Ulrich (10/5): Ich hatte eine gute Zeit hier ! - Ich Habe Sylvester 2025/26 hier verbracht und es war wunderschön ! Sehr individuell eingerichtetes Hotel , liebevolle Atmosphäre und Deko ! Es gibt keinen Aufzug das ist wirklich wichtig zu wissen! Hotel liegt direkt an einer Bundesstraße deswegen tagsüber verkehrsgeräusche.

Gastlichkeit pur. - Man spürt sofort, mit wieviel Liebe und Hingabe dieses Haus geführt wird und das das Wohlgefühl des Gastes hier wichtig ist. Man sieht es in jedem Detail. Ich habe mich wirklich sehr entspannt und fast schon zu Hause gefühlt hier. Dieses Haus ist ein echtes Herzensprojekt. ganz praktisch: die Zimmer sind super sauber und die Matratzen sehr bequem - ich konnte wunderbar schlafen. Das Frühstück ist vor Ort zahlbar und völlig ausreichend. Wundervoll fand ich das Angebot an selbst gesammelten Tees, selbst gebackener Kuchen - alles sehr fein. Einfach warmherzige Gastlichkeit. nichts

The owners are very friendly, helpful and a great source of local knowledge. Dinner was way better than expected - the locally sourced smoked trout was as good as I have had anywhere.

• Henning (10/5): Great Boutique Hotel in a scenic setting - Engel16 is a fantastic find not far from Germany’s highest waterfall with comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting. Astrid and Victor are wonderful hosts who take the utmost care to care for their guests and offer an amazing restaurant menu in the evening tasty breakfast in the morning! I wish we had more time to stay, enjoy the area and experience the hospitality. Thank you!

Das Design schafft eine wunderbare Balance zwischen Kreativität und Tradition, wodurch sich das Hotel von den vielen gesichtslosen Kettenhotels angenehm abhebt. Hier steckt Persönlichkeit und Herzblut in jedem Detail! Besonders hervorzuheben ist die herzliche und menschliche Gastfreundschaft, man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und bestens aufgehoben. Am Morgen erwartete uns ein leckeres Frühstück in einer stilvollen Umgebung mit einem wunderschönen Blick auf die Landschaft und die Berge, ein perfekter Start in den Tag. Wer eine individuelle, warme und authentische Unterkunft sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Wir können das Hotel Engel 16 uneingeschränkt empfehlen und kommen gerne wieder!

• Emily (10/5): Our favorite hotel in Baden-Württemberg, Germany - Wonderful family-run hotel with excellent restaurant. Couple who run this hotel are friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the area. They speak fluent English, which was helpful. Our meal in the restaurant was the best we had during our trip and was made with locally-sourced ingredients. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored and updated building. The fact that it is adults only ensured a quiet, restful stay. Great Black Forest location with plenty of parking.
