In general, it is centrally located, the rooms have a view of Istanbul It’s a big hotel. The reception needs to be a little more friendly, no one should be forced to work :)

Room Door is not sound proof....Too much noise always disturbing from othrt rooms and pass by guests. Room service keep knocking doors early morning for cleaning. No sign for Do not disturb or Makeup my room.

Ainsi une chose a signaler les gardes corps du balcon c’est très dangereux surout pour les enfants

Same breakfast everyday … the worst part which is utterly frustrating is they don’t have honey for breakfast. I’m the type of person who always have honey for breakfast so that made my breakfast with the hotel a horrible experience especially that we paid for premium room. Never book for premium room, services and facilities are the same regardless. The Indian or Sri Lankan staff members who facilitate breakfast were the worst hotel staff you will ever encounter, they are rude, cold and cannot be bothered, I was told by them “ we don’t have honey” with an angry snobbish attitude. I don’t know what are they doing in hospitality job if they treat guests like that, so annoying!

• John (10/5): - WiFi was fast and stable in the hotel area. Service in the hotel was Beyond Excellent, truly loved it! In general also staff spoke quite good English especially when you compare with how much people usually in Istanbul speak English. Two improvement areas though. Noise cancellation could be better and only one of the three elevators was at this stage working. All in all, I strongly recommend this hotel for even a longer stay.

Construction and water damage in the terrace area. I was supposed to have a king bed, it was more like a small queen. No sound proof walls, you can hear the hallway and next door. The hotel is not 4 star, maybe 2 and 3 on a good day.

Although I do not blame the hotel staff in general, I hold EXPEDIA responsible for recommending this place and giving it a rating of over 8/10. In my opinion, this hotel does not even deserve a 5 or 6. What I liked: The hotel staff were polite. The location is very close to the Taksim area. That’s it. Everything else belongs in my “dislike” list. The experience was so bad that I checked out after just one night and booked another hotel — fully aware that I would lose the payment for my remaining three nights. What I disliked: This place is NOT suitable for you or your loved ones if you want a relaxed, clean, and enjoyable stay. The property was dirty, crowded, smelly, old, and unwelcoming. We were five people in two rooms, both extremely small — barely enough space to walk. The power outlets were broken and unsafe. The bathroom light flickered constantly. The elevators were tiny, had no ventilation, and we often waited over 5–10 minutes for them. Most of the time, we used the stairs, which themselves were unsafe and frightening to use. The smell of burning wires, smoke, and cigarettes was present throughout the building. The breakfast dining area was crowded, dark, smelly, and unpleasant. The pool, other elevators, and common areas were under construction — with no safety signs. The safe box in our room was broken and required repair. Final verdict: Just don’t go there.

• Alijon (10/5): Exceptional - I stayed at Grand Star Hotel from June 15–20 and had a great experience. The hotel has the best location near Taksim, with a beautiful sea view from my room. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, and the staff were friendly. As a nice gesture, they gave me a tarte as a goodbye gift. I really enjoyed my stay!

• Szasza1976 (7/5): Beautiful view hotel with some issues - Nice hotel, beautiful view on Bosporus, really good Turkish breakfast. We have received a free room downgrade after half an hour waiting (system failure, maybe they thought we wouldn't come) though we have notified the hotel, that we arrive almost at dawn. I have asked to put my ice battery to freezer, but it was put into the fridge. Curtain was too small, so the continuous flashlight from outside (coming from a huge advertising panel) could not be avoided.

• Nezar (6/5): Excellent location and subpar management - We most liked the location and the view from the small balcony. Also we most liked the staff at breakfast area. In general, we most disliked the current management and the way this hotel is managed. Without mentioning specific people because some staff did attempt to help us. For example they failed to handle a small fire that occurred in the kitchen, and after that everything went into ciaos and failed. I second what other reviewers mentioned about safety at the hotel. The hotel itself needs overhaul. For example there was a bed with a missing leg. one broken chair etc. AC wasn't working on day one, they had to change our room. No hot water, no room telephone, and no internet. Only after 4 days things started to be fixed but still telephone wasn't fixed until we checked out. Finally, it is not advisable that some hotel staff seems to write reviews of the hotel = conflict of interests.

• Mohamed (1/5): Awful - Only location The hotel is very bad regarding many aspects as follows: 1- The receptionist cannot understand English except for the Iranian guy of the night shift. 2- The hotel safety is questionable since they had a fire the day before our arrival, the hot water was not working for 3 days and i have to take a shower with very cold tap water. The internet was not working as well for same duration. 3- The internal telephone inside the room is not working during my 8 days stay at the hotel so i cannot communicate with the reception, room service etc... When i asked how to communicate with them, they gave me WhatsApp number , guess what! they didn't answer my messages on Whatsapp!!!! so each time i have to go to reception! 4- The Hotel reception is a disaster itself, crowdy, noisy, old furniture, no AC, it is even worse than a street! 5- The breakfast is veryyyyyy poor. 6- Some lamps are not working in the room, the towels are perforated, the bed sheets had stains. 7- The one who cleaned my room didn't put water nor re-fill the nescafe, etc... so you have to ask for this. 8- Pool was not working 9- It is written that they have iron facilities, i asked for iron and they told me that they don't have and i went to buy an iron because of false information posted in their facilities description. 10- The cleanliness of the room is awful. 11- No hand wash liquid in the bathroom, only small soaps. 12- There is a night club on a building roof beside the rooms with sea view, it is ultimately noisy at night and i couldn't sleep well.
• Vitaly (8/5): Good hotel with nice interior design and perfect location - location, sea view, balcony, nice architecture, design and interior materials of hotel , no prepayment was charged when booking, walking distance from bus stop to airport, air conditioning was working good I made reservation for a room with large bed, but instead room with two small bed was provided. Wifi was not working, I had to use roaming mobile internet which is quite expensive. Breakfast food selection is the same for "premium" clients and regular clients. The only difference is that for "premium" clients breakfast is served by waiter (in chosen area such as room or hotel lobby). For "regular" clients breakfast is served in hotel's large dining hall.

• Paolo (9/5): Great value for money and friendly staff - I enjoyed the location due to its proximity to Taksim Square. Also, big thumbs up to the personnel - they were all very friendly and efficient. My room's view was also amazing as it had a small balcony facing the Bosporus Strait. Great value for money. The only thing that could be improved is the WiFi as the internet connection was slow at times.
• Behnaz (10/5): Wonderful stay - Receptionists were very helpful and they gave us very good service. They feel like we are very special people. Our room was very clean and nice view. We had a breakfast at terrace with sea view it was very nice. I advise this hotel for everyone. We had very nice business trip . Nothing
