- Sophia (2/5): - Unfortunately our stay here was a nightmare. After spending thousands of dollars and blown away from the pictures on the site, this place was no where near what they advertised. The beach is non existent - you won’t be able to have a beach day here. The water is brown and dirty. My 5 year old got hurt in the theater and it took 20 minutes for somebody to come to help. She had a very bad deep cut and finally the LIFEGUARD came inside the resort to bandage it up. It was really scary the lack of medical help on staff. Our 2nd day we were sick and throwing up - I’m not sure if it was from the food or the water or what. Our room was very clean and nice but other than that I wouldn’t waste your money here. The amenities were not what they make it. We had to leave due to my 5 year olds injury and no refund was offered

They labeled it as a promotion to review the “new” restaurant, not an “investment” into the property. The food was not great at all other than their Italian restaurant. They do have a lot of options for dining, but you must have a reservation or else you can’t go in.

- SABOKTAKIN (8/5): - Their marketing team are very pushy on their vacation packages, to the point that they didn’t want to accept we were not interested to buy their package and they switched 7 sales person. The meeting that we accepted as a kindness took over 2:45 minutes, and honestly it was a bad experience as we lost half a day of our vacation time to listen to their pitch after a pitch. I suggest to do not be too desperate if someone saying no to your package, as we didn’t feel this hotel is a 5 star after this experience.

Samayra our personal assistant was excellent, (GIVE THAT WOMAN A RAISE!) she helped me plan my proposal to my gf and the entire experience was a 10/10! The next day she along with other staff surprised me and my fiancé with a fruit platter and a towel art with beautiful illustrations regarding our engagement’! This resort really pays attention to detail and some of the best hospitality we have seen in a long time. All staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. The amenities were also very excellent! Don’t even get me started on the food! You can’t go wrong with any of the restaurants! Our personal favorite was Chez Moi, a French cuisine restaurant you would think chef Ramsey is in the back. We fell in love with the beef Wellington and the lamb chops! Also a quick shout out to Alex Liborio who helped us with our bags at the end and tracked us down to make sure we didn’t miss our ride back to the airport! Just another example on how amazing ALL staff is here!

The whole place is super modern and every room has crazy good ocean views—I loved waking up and seeing the water through the giant windows. The pools were my favorite spot, and there was even a water park that looked so fun for kids. The food was really good too— There were so many restaurants to choose from!

We had some hiccups with the cleanliness of our room at the beginning but once we made mention of this, the public relations team swooped in and got it remedied immediately and were extremely accommodating. I can tell this was not the norm and totally appreciated their service. They also gave us two massages and a personal concierge to assist with dinner reservations or anything we needed. The staff’s customer service is 10/10. Everyone was always willing to help and that made the best impression. The food was okay , I really enjoyed chez moi and boa. Room service is amazing and came in clutch daily. The one negative that I wish I researched prior and came at another time was the seaweed. It is all over the Caribbean and this is the high season. It made the beach unapproachable and the smell was really bad. Outside of that, our family really enjoyed our stay. Special shout out to our concierge Samayra Gaona and the chefs at chez moi -Jesus canto and Angel Jimenez. They were fantastic!

- Anthony (2/5): - For a new resort, the level of cleanliness was shocking. Our room had mold in the shower and the AC barely worked, making it uncomfortable. A portion of the resort seems abandoned, with unfinished ceilings and a strong mold odor in those areas. If you don’t have a reservation, you won’t get dinner—even though this wasn’t clearly communicated beforehand. All the meat dishes taste overwhelmingly like propane, as if drenched in it, making them nearly inedible. The buffet food was undercooked and cold, which raises serious safety concerns. The staff speaks very minimal English, so we constantly had to rely on Google Translate, which made even basic communication difficult. I’ve stayed at over 10 resorts in Cancun, and this was by far the worst. Overall rating: 1/10. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

The beach isn’t as beautiful as in the Hotel Zone, but the color is better than the beaches at resorts outside the hotel zone. The front part of the water looks like a typical beach color, but further back you can see a hint of mint, similar to the Hotel Zone, so the view isn’t bad at all. We were having a pleasant time there. Since there were quite a few negative reviews, I was a bit doubtful at first, but overall, I’m satisfied. The only downside is that the seaweed smell isn’t very pleasant. Other than that, we are happy with our stay. ✨none of my family has had any issues like food poisoning or stomach problems. Some negative Google reviews mentioned that the rooms weren’t cleaned on time, but in our case, housekeeping has come twice a day without fail. They even call from time to time to check if we need anything. Everyone here is so genuine and kind, which has made our trip really pleasant. At Chez Moi, our server Jesus was really nice, and our concierge Diego took such great care of us that we felt comfortable and happy throughout our stay.

- Dhjoanna (8/5): - My daughter recently had her sweet 16 there and I cannot say enough good things about their concierge they went above and beyond to decorate our room with balloons that we ordered. And it was already there when we checked in despite the short amount of time we requested it. Abigail, I believe her name was even delivered her cake in the restaurant where we ate dinner. She’s excellent! Unfortunately, the downside of our stay was The buffet food was NOT delectable (it sucked)! The restaurants only open for dinner so we have to eat the buffet food. Not a lot of options either. I’ve been to many hotels who have a huge and delicious selections so this one did not impress us at all. Chez MOi was super delicious and became our favorite. The hotel itself is massive and clean. The staff were excellent except for some of the desk receptionists who can improve in their social skilll—a little bit snotty. You cannot swim in their beach. Although they clean it, it still has a lot of seaweed and brownish algae. It reeked when we were there. However, the pool makes up for it. It’s an endless stretched of seawater. The staff on the pool were attentive and helpful. There are some limitations where you can swim bec they segregate the vacation package owners and the regular customers. The spa was amazing. The hotel itself is still under construction so they can still improve. Warning though, they will let you purchase their vacation packages. I was one of them. No regrets. ;)

- Breanna (8/5): - Our family vacation to Ava exceeded expectations! The customer service everywhere was a 10/10 and they made it their mission to ensure we had the best time! We spent five nights in August with our kids, 11 & 15, on their first trip to Cancun. The F&F suite was ideal, and the resort felt unique, walkable, and packed with indoor activities across both the north and south sides. The kids loved the pool, teen lounge, food, laser tag, and bowling, while my husband and I enjoyed the daily entertainment at the north pool, the gym, coffee shop, and relaxing spa massages. Dinners at Black Iron, Veranda, and Kita were outstanding. As loyal Unico 2087 guests, we were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed Ava as a family stay. Although the sargassum was unsightly and occasionally smelled bad (not Ava’s fault), and music played frequently (which we expected), neither detracted from our experience. The only downside was that poolside food and buffet-only breakfast and lunch options could have been better. Overall, we would recommend Ava and would happily return!

Overall, the hotel was impressive, clean and service was excellent. They will try to lure you to buy vacation packages for their hotel by offering free spas. If you like the experience, go purchase them otherwise, don’t even attend the “ seminar “ for it. You will waste a day of your stay there just for that.

The #1 on the list would be friendly and helpful staff. Everyone wanted to go extra mile to assist you. We had limited choices when it comes to dining because we have dietary restrictions as we can only halal or kosher and none was available. Ad a last resort, we had to revert to vegetarian options which were limited. Overall we all enjoyed our stay and will definitely return if they start offering halal options.

Only saw a few iguanas, no coati or birds :( When we arrived, the only reservations available were at 9:30, for the kids in our group that was exhausting.. Too many times during our stay, I got “we ran out of….” It was very discouraging We mostly dined at the buffet restaurants and made quite the stops by the taco stand. Great staff!

- Artemis (2/5): - I rarely leave reviews, but this resort was such a disappointment I had to speak up. We came to celebrate my son’s 16th birthday and left frustrated. For over $5,000, this place failed us in every way. We never received any pre-arrival info—no mention of restaurant reservations or shuttle service. We ended up paying $160 at the airport for a 10-minute ride. By the time we arrived, all restaurants were booked except Teppanyaki (decent) and Livo (awful—tiny, flavorless food after a long wait). The website menus are misleading; actual choices are very limited. Room service was always wrong, took over an hour, and was bland. The buffet was worse—raw burgers and uncooked pizza dough even after sending it back twice. Our sheets were dirty, and room service never replaced our coffee cups unless we asked. The beach smelled terrible and was unswimmable. We had three power outages. The hotel is still under construction despite being open over a year—never disclosed before booking. Kids banged on our door two nights in a row, scaring my youngest. The front desk said they’d handle it but never did. Diego, our concierge, ignored our concerns. Julian lied about birthday perks when we declined his overpriced tours. A staff member promised a piñata and balloons—nothing arrived. Angel promised a 4:30 am taxi; no taxi ever showed.
- Tyler (10/5): - Our recent trip to The Ava was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, welcoming, and consistent throughout our stay. Every staff member we encountered was kind, helpful, and truly made us feel at home. The food across the resort was exceptional,well-seasoned and consistently delicious. Each dining restaurant delivered a 10/10 experience, and the top-shelf liquor available throughout the property was a nice touch (no hangovers here!). We especially loved the nightly shows,they were vibrant, fun, and added a nice touch of entertainment to each evening. My daughter had the best time at the kids club. The activities they planned were engaging and thoughtful, and it was great knowing she was having fun in a safe, creative space. The pool was a standout feature,beautifully maintained and perfect for both relaxation and fun. We loved kayaking in the pool, and the kiddie bowling was a hit for the whole family. Laser tag was also a lot of fun, though we wished the space was a bit larger to really move around. The arcade and the gelato ice cream bar were huge hits with the kids too! The spa was stunning and serene, offering the perfect escape for a little “me” time. While The Ava isn’t exactly a beach resort, the incredible pool and amenities more than made up for it. - Robert (6/5): - AVA Resort has great potential and a beautiful setup, but it’s still figuring out how to operate like a true 5-star resort. We arrived early after a long overnight flight with two kids and were checked in by 10 AM—surprisingly fast without early check-in. However, instead of being welcomed with help or hotel info,they tried to push us into a timeshare pitch right away, which was frustrating and inappropriate. We received little guidance about how to book restaurants, and the app they provided booked us into adult-only spots—even after we entered our kids’ ages. The first night ended with buffet food instead of the experience we were promised. After complaining, we were finally assigned a concierge (Diego) who was excellent and helped save the rest of the stay. The hotel is clean and beautiful, room service is fast, and there are great snack and drink stations everywhere. However, there were repeated issues with restaurants running out of basic items (like tomatoes for 3 days), inconsistent bar stock, mold in our room, and long waits for poolside service. Entertainment was minimal and poorly communicated. The resort has real potential, but right now it doesn’t meet 5-star standards.

La calidad de la comida y los tragos muy buena pero fuimos un grupo donde nos sentimos bien maltratados por algunos empleados, al punto de que sentimos que no soportaban atendernos y por falta de propina no fue ya que dabamos un promedio de mas de 300-500 USD diarios. En una ocasión nos dijeron que no nos iban a seguir dando servicio porque habíamos excedido el limite de bebidas el cual alegaron eran 4 shots al dia. Pedimos hablar con algun manager y la que vino fue una señora de recursos humanos que mas mal no nos pudo atender. En vez de disculparse nos dijo… si ustedes quieren seguir consumiendo ya se les va a seguir atendiendo! El señor del bar de la piscina de adultos nos dijo que no nos iba a seguir dando tragos porque a el no le daba su gana!! En cuanto a lo demas no les aconsejo coger ningún tur con el otel que también es otra estafa. El hotel bello pero todavía en construcción donde trabajan de madrugada y el sonido del drill y los martillos no me dejaron dormir. El desayuno en el buffet con esperas de mas de 20 a 30 minutos y cosas sencillas como el queso y el jamón no es libre para coger a tu gusto. Hay que pedirlo. Por lo demás bastante bien lo unico que para poder hacer el check in se demoraron mas de dos horas y para el check out si llegabas tarde pues dicen que hay que pagar 150 usd. Ahi se los dejo

There was a constant sound of water flowing from the ceiling, especially during the night, which made it nearly impossible to sleep. It was honestly one of the noisiest rooms I have ever stayed in. My friend, who was staying in another room, also experienced the same issue. Additionally, the service at the gift shop downstairs was unacceptable. Items were not properly arranged, and when something fell and broke, the staff pressured the customer to pay for it, even though it was clearly due to poor placement. This experience has been quite disappointing and did not meet the standards I expected from your hotel. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address these issues to ensure better service and comfort for future guests.
- Jihad (4/5): - This was my third time staying at Ava within the first year of its opening and unfortunately, it will be my last. If I’m being honest, coming for a 3rd time was on me and I blame myself for expecting different. They simply cannot handle the volume of guests they get. Despite paying a decent amount of money per night, their restaurants are always booked. If you can’t pre-reserve your restaurant choices, why even offer them. They claim they’re full but they sit half empty! The overall service from workers isn’t great. It seems as if we’re a nuisance rather than appreciated for spending money their resort. BTW, this is coming from one of the most relaxed vacationers you imagine. We don’t ask for much or anything for that matter at all! The managers attempted to rectify the situation but it was mostly over promise and under deliver. Even then, I kept it respectful and appreciated the “effort.” I won’t be returning and spending my money here going forward.

- Juan (6/5): - El hotel es nuevo y esta limpio y huele bien dentro del hotel aunque mucho sargazo en la playa y daba mal olor en los alrededores, en realidad la playa no sirve para nada, la comida no era muy variada, incluso en los restaurantes habían platos con costo extra, si planeas ir un grupo grande no te recomiendo este hotel porque quieren limitar también la bebida alcohólica que consumes, tuvimos mala experiencia también con un tour que compramos por el hotel porque te dicen una cosa y es otra la realidad , te venden el tour por 5 horas y luego solo tienes tiempo de estar 1 hora y media en la playa, conclusion no regresaría para nada a este hotel, hay muchos otros que estoy segura que te pueden hacer pasar unas vacaciones sin tener que dar tanto complain por todo que al final terminas estresada
- alberto arturo (4/5): - There were never any places to eat at the Black Iron, we ate because my husband was looking for the CEO of the kitchen for a day and a half Michel Bustier so we could eat. We only felt very good when we spoke with Zulema, a buffet worker with a big heart and Ramon, a buffet waiter, also Francisco from the buffet. I think they need more hygiene in the bathrooms, the kids club is horrible for picking up the kids on time, if you go over they charge you $ 25 and they don't send you WhatsApp texts, they have you from one side to the other, you can't relax as a parent on vacation and my children do like the play room in all the hotels.
