Guest Reviews
- Neale (9/5): Lovely Historic house - If you like older historic houses, this place is very cool. Nice living areas and lots of books. It was very nice reading in the balcony and the garden. Laundry was great! Bathrooms are nice and beds comfy. It has all the quirks of a very old house, uneven floors, hard to find all the light switches. Would be a cold house in winter. (But heaters everywhere)
Walking distance to parks and waterfront and the main street. Only negative is its a bit expensive.

- Paul (9/5): Great view from the balcony upstairs - Lovely 147 year old house .
Lovely furnishings throughout the house.
Great beds The only small problem is some of the lights didn’t work but minor problems.
- Leili (10/5): A beautiful historical home, in the perfect position only a stroll to cafes and retail, beautiful gardens and pure comfo - Beautiful gardens, prime location and comfortable stay. We loved the heritage items and space. Has stairs and old quirks like slanted floors and low doors but we love that!
- Peter (9/5): Comfortable, spacious and centrally located - Centrally located and quite The character of the home
- Emma (6/5): - Lovely period property to be able to stay in I appreciate the house is very old so don't expect it to be perfect, but it doesn't seem to have had any maintenance for years. House was dusty, there were loads of spiders and window sills collected dirt, I think because the window frames are not in good condition.

- Heather (7/5): Quirky property that worked OK for us (two couples). - The location was great, walking distance to the shops and restaurants. The beds were comfortable and there was lots of space with two sitting rooms. There are two bathrooms but both are on the ground floor, so up and down stairs happens a lot and is not super practical. The house is also split level so there are stairs everywhere. No dishwasher. The only heaters provided were upstairs and in the downstairs bedroom so it was cold in the kitchen and other downstairs areas.
- Joanne (8/5): -
- PeterRH-T (8/5): Excellent location for a relaxing holiday. - The location is very good, with an easy walk to restaurants and shopping. It's very close to an EV charging station for our car. There are a lot of stairs, up to bedrooms and down to bathroom.
- Kim (9/5): A gorgeous heritage cottage with modern upgrades to make our stay fabulous. - Well equipped cottage for a comfortable stay. Very close to Main Street of Albany. Great cafes close by. Upstairs had no heating.
- Penelope (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Wollaston House - WOW! What a beautiful old home and garden. The harbour views from the balcony, the proximity to the main street and all the exceptional restaurants in Albany make this place one of the best in town. I only booked two nights.
- Jennifer (8/5): We had a very enjoyable time in a beautiful home - Loved the history, nicely renovated, comfy beds, great couches, beautiful decor, excellent location near town, delightful garden and outdoor areas. Also kitchen facilities and extra things were good. Stairs are odd but are part of the history of the house, internet was a bit temperamental when trying to get into movies.
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (4/5): It is an old house so bathroom are not in good location, alot of stairs - In great location The place needs a good deep clean in side and out
- Graham (9/5): Lovely old historic house in a good location -
- Rebecca (7/5): House has massive potential to be beautiful, if cleaned up. Location was perfect - The age and history of the house, the location was perfect and the front garden was beautiful. Beds were very comfortable. It had cobwebs in almost every corner of the house. Thick dust under the side tables in the bedroom on the ground floor. Dirty shelves where the cups and glasses are. I had to place kitchen paper on the shelves to put the clean cups on. Outside chairs were dirty and the cushions on the balcony and porch need replacing.
It was windy for a couple of nights during our stay, we stayed in the upstairs bedroom and the wind was making the tree scrape and bang against the house. We had very bad sleep those nights.
- Cara (7/5): Historical house - If you like period houses this is for you, the history and trinkets on show in the house are fantastic . The garden terrace is very peaceful to sit on and the wildlife (birds and butterflies mainly) is great to watch with a coffee or glass of wine.
The kitchen is well equipped and labelled. The location is good with a short walk to the centre and the location is quiet.
The beds were comfy. The bathroom shower curtain and general cleanliness of the bathroom was a let down. Grime was visible around the taps. The downstairs bedroom was dusty on the skirting boards and the curtains let out dust when pulled. By dust I mean they haven't been cleaned in at least a month, if not longer.
- Johanna (8/5): Very good - Nice location. The property had cobwebs inside the house (top bedroom with double bed) and it wasn't squeaky clean. Window sills and in corners were dusty. The garden was overgrown and there was washing on the washing line.
- Sergey (9/5): Superb -
- Savill (7/5): An experience - The rustic nature of the accommodation. It was an experience. All was good given the nature of the property.
- Sarah (9/5): Historic quirky house in good location - Quirky place, great beds and well stocked kitchen facilities. Near town and beautiful (if slightly overgrown) garden The heritage of the place meant that the bathrooms were a big dated and the too. Layouts were odd, but I’m not picking now
- Pippa (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (9/5): Lovely short break in a comfortable but quirky house. - Characterful, well equipped, lovely garden, great location A few too many stairs for people who are aging - and an upstairs bathroom would be good to save a little one having to negotiate the stairs in the night. Some of the paving stones in the garden were loose which, again, is not good for young or older people.
- Acco53 (9/5): Superb - The location was fabulous, the property itself was great, grand old house with a history, just a walk into the town and to the Brig Amity. We had a great time with our two granddaughters. To be honest, the cost, compared to the same time a week later, when not in school holidays, was over $1000.00 dearer. Obviously recommend not going in school holidays.
- Deborah (8/5): Delightful historic home in a great location. - Beautiful historic property with a stunning rambling garden. The kitchen was lacking in organisation. Light switches hard to find. Heating could have been better.
- Leonie (10/5): We 5 ladies we very impressed and would highly recommend.. -
- John (5/5): The stay was ok but we would not go back soon - The location The floor was uneven. Large TV upstairs not programed had no sound. Both bathrooms on the ground floor. Garden needed pruning. No fire equipment blankets or extinguishers.
- Crystal (10/5): Can't wait to come back! - It felt like home away from home. Nothing.
- Pep (8/5): Very enjoyable quiet location and very central - Location was fantastic , building was a heritage listed house it was nice old style house For us house was fine but didn't realise there was so many stairs for someone impaired it would be a real problem there needs to be more emphasis on that
- Cathy (10/5): It was fabulous - The location was perfect! Super close to the leisure centre where our event was on, walking distance to city centre and waterfront with a beautiful view.
A home away from home with all that was needed! The gardens were beautiful but overgrown couldn’t use the outdoor space, a big rat ran at us twice during the stay
