Guest Reviews
- Sharon (10/5): - An incredible, nicely refurbished historical hotel! The bedding is excellent, the rooms are have modern amenities, while showcasing the historicness of hotel. And the front desk staff really support bicyclists! BVRT riders will feel at home.
- Rod (10/5): - The Hotel is old but spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
- Adam (8/5): - Fully authentic vintage pub stay, loved it. Had the creaky floor and steps, the meat tray raffle at the bar, great food and staff that were very welcoming.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic hotel - A lovely colonial hotel. Make sure you know about the shared bathroom. Staff very helpful and lovely. Rooms are very basic. No extras like tissues, reading lamps, cups etc.
- Richard (8/5): - No tea or coffee in room, only to be purchased in dinning room, but had a kettle and fridge, but no cups!
- Tania (8/5): - Staff were so hospitable thank you - was a quaint experience
- Kerry (8/5): - Affordable
- Amanda (10/5): - Bed was very comfy!
- Jay (10/5): - My Name is Jay and I'm Profoundly Deaf , I stayed over night on the 16th of June 2025: Eve , Micheal and all the staff I come in contact with were/are fantastic, friendly, helpful , kind and very accommodating. Being a Profoundly Deaf person , all the staff tried their 100% to communicate with me. I recommend The Grand Hotel Esk to anyone needing a wonderful place to stay , have a fantastic meal and injoy a family friendly atmosphere.
Thank-you very much for a 5 star experience .
See you all again soon.
Kindest regards
Jay
- Trent (8/5): - Nice clean room, shared bathroom old but clean. Bed very comfortable
- Sophie (10/5): - Classic hotel rooms above a country pub. Beds were super comfortable. Outdoor eating area was nice.
- Ben (10/5): - The BEST Country hotel I have ever stayed in. The cleanest room with the sharpest hospital corners I have ever seen. Kitchen served up a great meal and the best part was the friendly attentive staff. If you're going through Esk don't push on, stay the night, The ESK Grand hotel is worth the stay.
- leath (8/5): - The property was well presented and had very friendly staff , the only issue was that there was no toilet in the room and only one bathroom for all guests , also no hand basin in toilet room
- Margaret (6/5): - Bathrooms need to be upgraded.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Enjoyed the stay & staff very friendly with meals and outdoor garden area lovely. The main thing missing was a kettle in the room to make a cup of tea/coffee early in the morning.
- Juan Renato (8/5): - Convenient, clean rooms, great staff, convenient parking, delicious food.
- James (10/5): - The Manager was very welcoming upon arrival. He gave us
lots of information about our stay and the surrounding area. Supplied a secure locked storage for my Bicycle. Food was amazing and all the girls behind the bar and in the dining, area were friendly polite and very accommodating. I look forward to staying there again next time I am in the area.
- Roy Anthony (10/5): - Clean and accomodating staff, very good.
- Kenan (10/5): - Great country hospitality at a very well maintained venue. Very high service orientation from all staff. Very clean and inviting environment. Great food at the restaurant onsite. Overall a great place to stay in the lovely town of Esk.
- Karin (8/5): - Delightful country hospitality and dining. The room was clean and comfortable.
Like some older country hotels, the room did not have an ensuite - the bathroom facilities were shared between rooms - although there was a basin and mirror in the room. The shared facilities were clean and securely lockable from the inside for privacy but may be an issue for some travellers.
- Peter (10/5): - Staff were great and the best rump steak. Highly recommend.
- Keith (6/5): - For the price, quite good.
- Brendan (10/5): - Really enjoyed our overnight stay, the shared amenities was a first for us but was not a problem, meal was great and the room was nice and modern with some of the old architecture kept
- John (8/5): - Great food and close to everything.
- John (8/5): - Very good value for money. However, was not aware that each room used shared bathroom facilities. This was not a problem but a more prominent note on the website would have been useful.
Also, no Wifi available.
- Toni-ann (10/5): - Property had good storage for our bikes. Added bonus was the setup for charging of ebikes. Food was good and staff attentive. Beds were comfortable. We would stay here again
- Cameron (10/5): - Fantastic
- Cameron (10/5): - Joe the Manager is very accommodating and so helpful he bends over backwards to help.
- Louise (8/5): - Nice atmosphere
Clean rooms
Great dining
- Donna Whish (10/5): - A great place to stay for a night or 2. Staff were amazing, helpful and friendly. Great food. Lovely comfortable bed.
- Katie (8/5): - Staff are excellent and the rooms are clean and tidy
- Karen (6/5): - They do not have tea/coffee in room.
No jug, no toaster
No water.
The meal in the restaurant was pretty good though.
- Andrzej (10/5): - Great hotel, the staff are so friendly and happy to please can’t do enough for you, the rooms are super clean and comfortable and the meals are excellent, will be staying there again
- Steve and Tracy (8/5): - No complaints. Ideal for an overnight stay on the BVRT. Only suggestion: would be nice to have tea/coffee and kettle in rooms, but given the facilities downstairs, perhaps I’m nitpicking. Can’t fault this venue. Food in restaurant downstairs is excellent; staff absolutely great!
- George (4/5): - Very small room on the very noisy highway - not good
- Janelle (10/5): - It does have share bathrooms but there is 3 on the floor. Lighting to get to them at night. Best meals just down the steps.
- James (8/5): - Great food Steak was spectacular, Great atmosphere in the beer garden. A bit noisy in the Am as the room faces the road. Beds are comfortable and clean
- Peter (8/5): - Be better if had own bathroom
- Cameron (10/5): - Great rooms great food and great staff.Joe the owner/manager was very helpful as were all the staff
- Patricia (8/5): - The hotel is reminiscent of country hotels of the 60s with a bit of refurbishment. The staff were fantastic, always smiling and helpful.
- Clive (8/5): - The building is nearly 100 years old, so a lot of history and most of the structure seems to be original, so don't expect modern. It had good character
The staff were friendly, and the dinner was excellent
- Ashley (6/5): - Please note, it is SHARED bathrooms and showers for all rooms at this property, and there is NO wifi. Staff are friendly, and there is food and drinks on-site. The property and rooms are quite dated, and the bathrooms could definitely use a refresh.
- Michelle (10/5): Overnight stay. Would stay again. - We were very happy with our stay. Not really a ‘cheap’ pub room, but the room was great. Small, but very clean and an extremely comfortable bed. Best sleep in a hotel or motel bed that I have ever had. The room was also very quiet, cold air con, nice and dark for sleeping. The bathroom was ‘meh’, could’ve been cleaner but it served its purpose. The food was great, steak was way too expensive for us, we both had a Schnitzel which was amazing. Nice outdoor eating area, fast and friendly service.
- MALCOLM (8/5): - Great old hotel, good food. Amazing cheese cakes
