Guest Reviews
- Di (10/5): - Quiet clean room
- Mark (10/5): -
- Brad (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): I would stay here again. Hopefully they can fix the heater - Location and size of the room There is no reception so if you have issues there is no one to speak to.
The heating unit was not coming out warm. No change on heat regardless of the temperature on the control
- Ruth (5/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): -
- David (8/5): stay was ok but parking was a challenge. This should be stated clearly on web site. - Central location No onsite carparking and entrance code did not arrive prior to arriving. Quickly sorted code. No window in room or exhaust fan in ensuite.
- Roberts (5/5): Short stay recommend - The bed was comfy and the bathroom was very nice There was a blanket covered in crusty mystery stains it’s probably what I think it is
- Ricky (7/5): -
- Pavarison (5/5): -
- Jo (8/5): Great, comfortable hotel in the middle of town. - The whole check in process is online. No staff at this hotel. But everything worked seamlessly. The rooms are as expected. Very clean and functional. The bed is on the harder side which we love. The location is fantastic. Right in the middle of town. Very happy to stay there again. If feels a bit soulless as there is not staff at all.
- Black (10/5): -
- Jason (7/5): Easy to navigate the checkin process - Great location and access.
Compy bed, nice shower and the room has a bar fridge. Skylight was bright in the morning - no windows.
International transfer fees when paying with an AUD credit card.
- JP (4/5): A cheap mistake. - The location was good but hard to find. The room was ok - but no window. The bathroom was almost good. No lock on the door. A window would be good. A voucher for breakfast was "included" but never eventuated. No reception. No staff. Having to wait outside for over an hour to get access -- despite being in the afternoon of a weekday.
- Carly (3/5): Won't stay again or recommend - Clean Climbing stairs
Fridge didn't work
No car parking
Could hear bass from loud music all night.
- Margaret (6/5): - Greeted with musty smell in main corridor
- taylor (1/5): -
- Black (7/5): -
- Murtaza (8/5): Good experience - Nice Was good
- Victor (5/5): Overall it was good but the smoke alarm ruined my stay - The location is good The smoke alarm light stays on during the night, so could not sleep as i wanted the room dark but the green smoke alarm was too bright

- Adam (9/5): - Must be without a shadow of a single doubt the best value for money accommodation in Geelong! The central location is the greatest, complimented by a discreet front entrance and a sneaky back entrance and carpark, which you won't get any better than this. You can basically disappear off the footpath in the main street in merely just a few seconds. Finding yourself immediately feeling absolutely safe and secure inside heading down the corridor to your room. The facilities are always adequate, most importantly the rooms are always neatly presented and very clean. And I'm a fussy person - i inspect the sink and shower, I inspect the drinking glasses - holding them up into the light to look for smudge marks and fingerprints, as i do with everything, yep, even the teaspoons, lol. And, I know what your thinking - "OCD much"? Obviously, yes, yes, I am. So after having confessed that, I will also admit to having stayed at The Electric Hotel, on multiple occasions, maybe at least a dozen times in the past 3 years, just off the top of my head. Likely a conservative guesstimate, as i've probably stayed there a few more times then even that🤔... And I have never had a bad experience. Not once. They are the best value for money, however they do request quite a hefty security deposit being a $200 hold, taken from your credit or debit card. However they have always been quick to release the funds back into your account the same day of check out, after inspecting the room isn't damaged and what not. So it's not an issue given the quick turnaround time releasing those funds. So it's not too much of an inconvenience unlike some of the other venues around can hold up reimbursing your security deposit for an inconsiderate amount of time, I think the Novatel was the worst, held the security deposit for 9 days. So in comparison it's not an issue when staying at The Electric Hotel. See above.
- Sarah (6/5): Poor communication; Funky stench - The design of the room and bathroom Staff did not answer my communications in advance of arrival to ask if I could drop bags off at 2pm, the sheets were scuffed, and there was a foul smell in the room when I finally checked in late evening after a wedding so there were no staff present. This forced me to take my luggage to the wedding!
- jan (8/5): - Clean. Good location.
- jill (7/5): - quick, easy entry once we knew what to do. loud music from another venue till 4am, a lack of instructions about how to access property until 2 hours before (with arrival of text). Info about how to access was not provided until then. Someone else's food still in the little fridge.
- Buffy (6/5): It was fine for one night. - Location Not personal - just messages and key codes
No window just a skylight with no blind so couldn’t black out the room for an early evening nap before a show. Needed a long mirror in the bedroom.
- Fiona (6/5): - Comfortable bed and pillows, very quiet room, convenient location for Central Geelong Almost impossible to communicate with the hotel, no response from the 'chat option', no replies to my e mails , no answer to the contact phone number, access instructions sent to my e mail that I can only access via my laptop with WiFi, very challenging to arrive late Friday afternoon and not be able to speak to anyone about how to access my room. Eventually on Monday morning I recieved a quick response via sms, after trying to call and getting no response. My e mail requesting more tea bags was ignored. I booked an additional night and I wanted to know if I could keep the same room and not check out and check back in again. Very frustrating to have NO ONE to help from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. No offer to empty the rubbish bin and restock toilet paper, no desk or table to work at.
- Frank (9/5): -
- Dawn (9/5): Very comfortable and good facilities - Did not see any staff working
- Trevor (7/5): - NA NA
- Tammy (7/5): Always happy with the convenience of booking and location, have stayed multiple times - The location is amazing for going out on the town Carpets in the hallway and room had a strange mildew water smell
- Aleixandria (7/5): - It wasn’t easy to check in or contact the people running the hotel.
- Caterina (10/5): -
- Suzanne (7/5): Great location - Very cheap accommodation, well appointed, great location Contactless checkin, I had trouble working out how to get in the front door. Parking in the Main Street, not ideal
- Kelly (5/5): New but Noisy - Newly built,Clean, Good size room Room at back of hotel which backs onto nightclub with live bands and music until 3am
- Jennifer (5/5): - Location is great to get to gmhba stadium for footy It is soooooo noisy. The music is blaring all night. Stayed 2 weeks ago and same thing.
- Eliza (10/5): -
- James (4/5): - The nightclub next door playing music into the early morning hours
The late access to our room meant we were almost late for the wedding
Just not sending your access codes in not a good way to provide service, we could have made other arrangements if we had known the rooms would not have been ready on time.
I will not return to this hotel.
- Shiju (9/5): -
- Renae (9/5): Great room, fabulous location, right price, will be back. - Fantastic location, great sized rooms Had to call after my booking time as I didn’t receive a code. So had to wait around.
- Terry (8/5): Mixed feel - The great tea bar facilitys and modern bathroom and toiletrys, comfortable bed. Banging doors allnight thursday pillows a little too soft, didnt suport your head a little.
- Venkat (2/5): It is not worth the money I had spent -
- Jared (8/5): -
- Kade (1/5): - Nothing because they are a scam That they scamed me
- Haidee (8/5): - Large comfortable room and roomy bathroom facilities Parking on street and having to take my luggage from car on a busy street into hotel and up stairs
- Daniel Scheid (8/5): - The privacy of the rooms and it was cozy Don't see managers or staff
- Richard (3/5): Smelly - Room was large and bed was comfortable. There were skylights over the bed which cast light into the room during the night. There is no way of blocking this - no blinds... But most importantly, the room smelt very bad. It was stale and had a distinct odor. I had to sleep with a towel over my head to shield the light and mask the horrid smell.
- Anthony (5/5): Nice, but not with the loud noise - The location is nice I didn’t like the loud music nearly all night
- jokelder (10/5): Excellent value - The room was clean, comfortable and beautiful. I was tired and did not process the information on how to check in - also I booked late for that evening so did not see the check in email. Fortunately, once I contacted the hotel support, all was well. I would have liked an easier time getting to my room, but recognise the instructions were accurate.
- Daniel Scheid (8/5): -
- Allesha (9/5): Loved the property but communication with property didn’t exist - The property was fantastic clean and so convienent so close to down I tried to contact the property through email, call, text and message through booking.com customer service to get an earlier check in for 6 weeks and heard absolutly nothing back from them! Even when 30mins before check in I tried to call to get code to get into the building they didn’t answer and so sent them a text and then they sent it to me! So communication was very poor!!
- Jefferson (1/5): -
- Amy (8/5): - Location for electric hotel is really close to shopping and eateries. Staying on a Friday night also meant that there was free parking in city on the Saturday to avoid expensive car parking. Due to location there was a a lot of noise from little malop street although not loud enough to keep you awake.

- Laisenia (1/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): Excellent - Awesome in every sense! Vibe, location, facilities, decked out so beautifully - this is definitely our new go to place in Geelong. Absolutely love it!! Get yourself there quick smart! Everything!
- Minou (10/5): -
- Jennifer (7/5): - Location was great
Shower was also great. Good water pressure It was so noisy during the night.
- Rachel (2/5): - We didn’t like that our window was covered up from the outside with drop sheets. We didn’t feel comfortable with some people that were outside the building and some guests. We didn’t feel safe. We went to our room and only stayed for 15min while we looked for alternate accommodation.
- Leona (2/5): would not come back - small and convenient no parking, a bit dirty, too loud from neighbouring businesses
- frances (6/5): -
- Emily (1/5): customer service horrible - nothing never received an access code to get into the property, no one answering phone
- Roberts (8/5): -
- Bronwyn (1/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): -
- ruth (10/5): Easy check in - Relatively quiet except for tv noise from neighbours overnight.
- Lily (10/5): Ripper room, great location. - The room was roomy. Clean. Had everything we needed. Access was made super easy thanks to the legend at the other end of the text message. Location was awesome. Nothing
- Bruce (8/5): - Location. Close to shops ..eateries. and 10 min walk to waterfront The skylights in rm15..no blinds so when sun came up.was daylight inthe room
- John Banks (7/5): - Great location. Lack of windows.
- John (5/5): -
- Dean (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice room and ensuite decor Not much
- Michael (8/5): goos -
- Brenda (9/5): -
- Steven (10/5): -
- Guest (3/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): Great value for money - Clean
- Narelle (8/5): It was fine for our purposes. - The property was as expected. Room was clean. Good location The main issue is a lack of a window in the room. We were out most of the day but if you were wanting to hang out in your room it would feel like a cell. It was a bit disconcerting to not have staff available. But it all worked out ok with messages and codes. Having somewhere to leave your luggage that was secure, not under the stairs, prior to check in would have been helpful
- Joshua (2/5): Good location but very disappointing experience - The location of the hotel. The room size. The room was dirty, especially the carpets. The blinds could not shut as the cords were tangled up and stuck. The pilllows were too flat and soft - provided no comfort or support at all. The walls were too thin - could hear people in other rooms and it did not block out any music from the nearby club. The whole bathroom floor gets all wet/flooded when showering. Multiple phone calls were needed before staff pick up the phone - waited outside the hotel for a while as they never gave me information about access codes for the hotel, my room or even what my room number was after claiming they "already" sent this information. Had to follow up get my $150 bond refund after check out.
- Adam (9/5): I've stayed here about a dozen times... - I've stayed at the Electric Hotel maybe about a dozen times and it's always is a great experience, it has good vibes. A few standouts:
- Easy "deskless" check in, always clean and well presented, love how discreet the entrances are, straight off the street and very secure. Always feel safe and comfortable the minute I enter the main door, or back door of this establishment. And last but definitely not least by any means, the location of the Electric Hotel is second to none. Best central location in Geelong then any other hotel. Highly recommend AAA+++👌 I actually can't think of anything bad that's worth mentioning
- Julie (7/5): Great central location, close to the city and beaches - Central location, close to restaurants bars and the Performing Arts Centre. Self check in and check out. Comfortable bed and facilities. Love the brass fittings in the bathroom. Very affordable and perfect for our one night stay. No lift
- Leverne Vinette (8/5): - Modern and good location Parking
- Dejan (6/5): -
- Ross (8/5): If I had a room with a window, I would certainly stay there again. - Good location in the middle of town, 15 minutes walk away from the train station. A functioning and already tuned in Television would have been very useful. Was not able to use at all.
- Marguerite (6/5): Very disappointed in the location. Not a nice part of town at all. Would not stay again. - The room was clean and the beds comfy The street parking was difficult and didn’t feel safe for two women travelling on their own.The internet access was very poor in the room and the reception on the tv kept dropping out. No human contact on arrival or departure- didn’t like it.
- Timothy (8/5): -
- Julie (6/5): -
- Tahlia (8/5): - It wasn't too small it was quite cosy and the hotels location is really good it was so easy to get to everything around it The shower doesn't entirely keep the water in
- Rosefield (8/5): - No night shade over the skylight... bedroom not dark See above
- Haidee (8/5): - Room very comfortable No parking. If it hadn't been for the fact it was a public holiday with parking free, I would have had to pay, which is not something I've experienced before. Couldn't get TV to work - should be user-friendly
- Narendrabhai (10/5): -
- Warren (6/5): - Good value and clean Next to night club, very noisy on Friday night
- Maddison (10/5): - everything, fabulous stay. no microwave
- Mirae (1/5): The worst hotel I have ever stayed - No window, no noise proof, club near by so I could not sleep the whole night
- Bruce (10/5): -
- Tony (7/5): -
- Ellie (10/5): -
- Anneli (8/5): Stay was value for money - Very spacious room and comfortable bed Unfortunate there is no car parking and no reception to check in. Another couple were given our room number and tried to enter but it was sorted out very swiftly when the gentleman called the number provided. We had a laugh about it.
