Hang Anh (8/5): Great stay, except digital key and Wifi - The apartment itself is great, in an old but very nice buildings. The room has everything I need. I slept very well throughout the night and enjoyed it a lot! The staff deserve 11/10 as they are super friendly and helpful. The location is not “great great” for me as I were staying near Myer a few days before and I think that location is slightly better. Here, you have access to the parliament and the theater, that’s it. Not too many restaurants and bubble tea shops, which are my go-tos. I still need to travel by tram to get to the restaurants and everything. 2 things: digital key and the wifi. I didn’t use the key after all. I think that is super redundant to download and waste of time. Instead, just go straigh to the cafe to check in. Wifi was terrible when I stayed there, esp. around 9-12pm. I ended up using my 4g and couldn’t watch anything on TV. Like it’s there, showing connection, pretty strong and decent, but you cannot open anything, it just kept loading forever. In the morning, the wifi is much better but still not quite good.

Given the apartment was heritage listed really enjoyed the ambience. It was very nice to be upgraded. The only thing that needs to be addressed is the shower. The tiles need to be regrouted as it appears to be dirty when it was reasonably clean.
Bruce (8/5): I liked the place, and will consider staying again if the check-in/out process can be improved. - The location was very good - easy to get to via tram, train or uber. Checking in was ~ ok, although I felt I was just wandering around looking for someone/anyone who could assist me. Checking out was problematic - hadn't received any emails/txts with instructions, where to leave the keys, etc. I'd sent a txt to a previous number I'd received (check-in) help from, to request assistance, but nothing came back. I ended up just getting someone from the kitchen (chef, possibly) to take my key/door-fobs. Not sure what would've happened if I'd had to leave very early in the morning...
Briar (9/5): Stylish, Comfortable, and Well-Located - The location was perfect for what we needed. The apartment itself was gorgeous and had such a cute, cohesive vibe. The furniture and renovation style really matched the overall aesthetic beautifully. The kitchen was fully equipped with great storage and had everything needed for a short stay. The only small thing to note was that there weren’t clear instructions on how to connect to or use the internet. My mum was the one staying in the apartment, and while it didn’t impact things significantly, it may be something to consider, particularly for guests who aren’t as confident with technology.

Andrea (10/5): Ideal location in a Historical setting - The location was perfect, close to all the public transport and very easy to find. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the building itself was beautiful. Highly recommended. Probably the only negative was that the hot water took an age to warm up. Understandable as it is in such an old building but a little frustrating when you're rushing.
Forgan (7/5): Grand location and helpful staff. - The helpful attitude and behavior of all staff we had contact with. The location suited us as it was easy to find and in the midst of the Theatre district. and numerous topflight bars and cafes. We enjoyed the heritage nature of The Gordon and its European feel. Some items in our suite required some attention and basic maintenance.

Cushla (8/5): Great once we managed to access our apartment!! - The location was great. Apartment very roomy. Our stay was almost a disaster as I had downloaded the JUSTIN app as instructed but had not received either a key or details as how to access our apartment by the time we arrived and any attempt at contact on the given numbers was met with an answer phone. It was Sunday but surely there should be some way of making contact after hours that gets a response. Fortunately there was a guest in the foyer who had the personal phone number of the manager as she had had previous communication with her and she managed to talk to her and the details which I should have received were texted to me. That was truly fortunate as I had prepaid for two nights and was thinking we would have to find another hotel!!! We were very stressed by this and over breakfast heard of others who had the same issues with this system. All great if it goes well but maybe the back up if it doesn't is lacking!! The apartments themselves are great so a pity this had to happen. o
Shayne (10/5): Historical Gem - These apartments had real history and character. It felt like a little quiet retreat right in the heart of the CBD. Very close walking distance to most of Melbourne's attractions. The attached cafe was very handy. The receptionist at check-in was lovely. Although the outside noise was well insulated some people leaving early let their doors slam shut which did tend to echo throughout the atrium area.

Lovely & quiet. Although room bathroom etc was clean. Could do with a deep clean. Carpet, shower rims and around the doors skirtings need attention. Wardrobe rail was far too high! I could barely reach it.

Ashleigh (4/5): So much potential, but rather diappointing. Would stay again IF serious concerns were rectified. - Location is great. Full, usable kitchen. Good sized apartment. Access to room was keyless pin code entry. The code into the room was the DEFAULT CODE from the key manufacturer - as 2 women in the room we felt very uncomfortable, and reception agreed however nothing could be done… Additionally, due to the heat a portable aircon was placed in the room (thank you) HOWEVER it needed a vent to be placed out the window for it to run. The cover for the vent into the slot of the window didn’t fit so there was a large gap between, enabling not only bugs but potentially others to easily enter… The bathroom was so run down, the sprayed basin was flaking away, and the shower and bath was extremely questionable. Although the apartment advertise as 2 bedroom, you have to walk past one room, blocked off by a curtain, to access the bathroom…. A little awkward

Leone (8/5): A lovely time. Great location for my needs - Great communication. Happy to help me out when I needed some modifications to my bedding. While the TV art was lovely, I couldn’t easily work out how to get the TV to go to black. I ended up turning it off at the power point. Some of the paint work was bubbling. I guess that’s expected in an old building.

Loved the whole experience, including the ambience of the old heritage buidling, friendly helpful staff and awesome little cafe on site. We will definitely be staying here again whenever we are in Melborne. Just fabulous.

Julianne (5/5): Great location and pool but confused and difficult to access - The location was very good. 1. The photos of the 2 apartments on line were not accurate. Led to confusion on arrival and required a switch of guests. 2. The so described ‘deluxe’ apartment whilst bigger and with more amenities was not identified as only being partly renovated and work only just completed. Definitely not worth the extra money. Have supporting photos. 3. The pool was closed when we arrived and only opened when we complained as it was the key reason we booked this accommodation. 4. We were given 2 ‘actual’ keys for the first day while the virtual keys on our phones were sorted. We were a party of 3 adults. After that we could only access the front door using the 2 fob type keys which meant at times we had to wait till someone else used their fob key to get in and we followed behind. Raises concern about security of the facility.

Elaine (7/5): A great stay in the heart of Melbourne, walking distance from the tennis and everything else Melbourne has to offer. - Great location, steps away from the city centre, shows, shops, restaurants and city sights. The door keys using your phone are a great idea but we still had trouble opening the door to enter the building and get in. You need to provide better instructions on what to do with the door handle. We also met other guests having trouble with entering the building and finding their room. Finding your room is challenging. Instructions should be provided on which floor rooms are on.

Nina (10/5): We've been staying here for many years and will continue to return yearly, we love it here! - Perfectly located in a very nice area within the Melbourne CBD, easy access to everything without the noise. The building was one of the first Public Housing Buildings within the CBD built by a group of Philanthropists in the late 1800s, early 1900s to house workers wives and families. The building has an impressive history and is very well maintained, and is to this day a hybrid of lodgers; from owners, renters and hotel guests, and with the addition of the cafe, Little Gordon, makes it a reliable and enjoyable staple for a Melbourne Stay. Water pressure and heat can be compromised in some apartments, but certainly not all, and the free hotel wifi can struggle in the evenings when many people are using it.

Sheila (3/5): A good trip to Melbourne but Gordon House was not what made it good! - Catered for ourselves and found kitchen crockery etc limited, only provided with one dishwasher tablet, no oven trays No reception on premises - we were “upgraded” to superior 2 bedroom apartment that we discovered when returning on first evening had no hot water, so had to call and talk to young and pleasant employee who then had to call someone else(? Manager)? and then call us back. We were relocated to another apartment 2 floors up in a maze like building with no clear directions about how to get there. Also frustrating were the instructions about payment- I understood that payment would be taken from my debit account the day before arrival. This did not happen and I arrived in Melbourne, having left my debit card in Perth as I had another card for my trip, to find a message asking me to process payment myself - I had to call and after some consultations (with unseen manager again I suspect) the girl was allowed to process the payment as I had originally expected. All the girls we spoke to were very pleasant but clearly had no authority to make decisions: no manager ever spoke to us, and we received no apology for the no hot water relocation issue - the sister I was travelling with is 81 and had to haul her case up steps and along long corridors to relocate. Needless to say, we would never stay there again.

Also, the apartment was larger and better appointed then we expected. I realize it's an old building but some of the plumbing was a bit rugged. The toilet's cistern kept running on a bit, water seeped out of the toilet's water inlet, the shower's pipes screamed quite a bit and water seeps out of the base of the hot water tap to the kitchen sink. Also, the toilet light bulb needs replacing. But really, these were minor things and really didn't spoil our stay.
Julie (9/5): Hidden Gem walking distance to the Theatre - Hidden Gem. Perfectly located for the theatre. Cool comfortable. Welcome treats a bonus! Lovely pool deck with loungers. Everything we needed was supplied. My daughter loved the soft blankets. Comfy beds. Beautifully decorated. Most comfortable lounges and nice size TV. Employees were very quick to respond to any queries prior to arrival. It was 43 degrees the day we arrived and the staff prioritised an earlier check in for us. We were very grateful. The access card via an app on the phone. I found this frustrating! An actual card is so much easier! Toilet area was very tight! Wouldn't suit everybody and the seat kept moving.
Ashia (8/5): - The location, the beautiful building and the Super Studio and Mezzanine were super nice! Staff were super accommodating. It really fit all of our needs for a family Christmas holiday! Being located under the cafe was pretty disruptive and the layout could be a bit confusing when going between apartments but that added to the charm!

Travis (5/5): Great complex and room, unfortunately the noise pollution into the room made it impossible to sleep. - Beautiful complex, good rooms and the best water pressure in a shower that I have experienced. Beds were comfortable and the kitchenette was adequately stocked. The room was located at a basement level to three or four bar/restaurants and the noise came straight through the room. The rubbish trucks that frequented at 3-4 were very noisy emptying bins full of glass bottles. I would have been lucky to get 10hrs sleep in total across three evenings.

kelbel25 (7/5): Overall the stay was comfortable, clean and was conveniently situated for the purpose of my visit. - The location was perfect for my visit. This was my second visit to the apartments, and I was only here for a short stay. The housekeeping and reception (via phone, not in person) staff were exceptional. I felt they went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met, especially regarding my wheelchair accessibility, and they deserve to be commended. The facilities inside the unit were excellent - it was convenient to have dryer access after a swim. In the apartment, there were no options for a child to dine. It would be beneficial to have some plastic bowls, plates and cups (Ikea) for them to use. The main TV didn't work - the antenna cord was disconnected. There was rubbish under the unit (hand cream and a silicone object). There were no coffee pods available for the coffee machine. Linen was clean, but minimal; extra blankets and towels (for pool use) would have been ideal. I would have liked to have seen clearer information regarding wheelchair users, as the access to the apartments via the cafe was incredibly narrow and busy with patrons and not suitable for people in wheelchairs. Also, it would be beneficial to know, before check-in, how to download the "JustIN Mobile app" for check-in and key access. This could be done via email or text before the stay.
Gerard (6/5): - The room was OK - apart from having a humidifier in the room as obviously room had been water damaged. There were electrical cords/boards next to bed, which I'm not sure should have been there. Undergoing some renovations and there was a lot of dust/dirt around the pool area. The location is spot on. Have stayed here previously but the room we had this time was a little disappointing. Clean and no issues. As above

There was no percolator for me to make Italian coffee lol Also- Sadly the floors were not so clean and the bath was out of use which was a shame. Also, I would have preferred more natural light in the apartment.

Rixt (6/5): Beautiful unique building but Very Complex remote/ unmanned Check in procedure - Beautiful building in lovely quaint lane, very clean and spacious apartment which had a well equipped kitchen The remote check in process far too complicated! If you're arriving jet lagged and tired after the café has closed (café closes quite early) you've got no hope. We bumped into a few other hapless travellers also desperatly trying to get in.. We couldn't find anywhere to buy a local Sim card and no cafes or bars seem to offer wifi. Not suited to international travellers arriving after 4pm.

Trevor (9/5): - Location, close to Parliament station, walking distance to MCG, lots of food and theater options very close. A number of stairs to negotiate to get to room. Not a problem with light luggage but could be an issue for some.
