- Bec (10/5): Hotel Vera is pure opulence with every fine detail considered - Have stayed all over the world and this restored hotel is one of my favourites. Every fine detail has been considered and it was a true treat to find this level of luxury in regional Australia. If you are looking for opulence then Hotel Vera is for you.
- Craig (10/5): It’s a must, a definate must if you are wanting a very cool stay - Thinks a true boutique hotel. The hosts David and Martyn are among the best you will find anywhere. Great artworks throughout the property and a fantastic hatted restaurant The only thing I did not like about the property was leaving
- Felicity (10/5): - Beautifully renovated hotel, lovely facilities and very comfortable bed. I would definitely stay here again, next time I would include the breakfast! -

- BELINDA (6/5): Way overpriced for this stay!! - Bed Noise and price plus there was no little extras . If you want snacks you pay. I paid $400 for the night no breakfast absolutely nothing juat bed Only The next night I stayed at RACV Ballarat paid half the price with a beautiful breakfast I wish I knew sooner about RACV

- Dean (10/5): Extremely impressed - Hotel Vera Ballarat exceeded my expectations. The building has been magnificently restored in a beautifully presented hotel. One of the best presented hotels and rooms that I have ever stayed at. Loved that all products and items in the room were sourced locally. Staff were super welcoming and helpful with suggestion of places to eat etc. Bonus was I was able to charge my EV onsite overnight.
- Karlyn (10/5): Such a warm and inviting hotel, my stay was just what I needed after a long day of traveling -
- Harry (10/5): Was fantastic stay have and I will keep recommending it to everyone I know - Extremely clean and close to the hospitals The rooms where large and the staff where extremely helpful and cheerful and caring
- Steve (10/5): A superbly styled hotel which oozes old world charm in a great location coupled with great hosts. - A beautifully decorated former "surgeon's residence" a stone's throw from Ballarat CBD. Brimming with old world charm and tasteful fittings the hotel exudes style and comfort. The attached restaurant "Babae" was also exceptional for an "in-house" degustation experience. The hotel hosts - David and Martin - make you welcome from the moment you arrive until you leave. The service was flawless and other amenities including the quality hair and bathroom products were first rate. The room was quiet and reasonably spacious with a comfortable king-size bed. A wonderful stay overall. Hard to find fault as the hosts have done an exceptional job overall. Off street parking is available but it is a tight turning circle so best try outside although there is plenty available.
- Chi Ming (10/5): -
- Zoe (10/5): -
- Megan (10/5): - Martin was amazing, very communicative and thorough. The room was quiet, cosy and had lovely luxurious touches. Location was perfect. Close to restaurants and cafes. Would definitely stay again.
- Matthew (10/5): Most amazing stay in Ballarat. An Art Gallery you can nap in! -
- Sandy (10/5): -
- Trudy (10/5): One of the best places I’ve stayed at anywhere in the world. - Spectacular property. Beautiful and tastefully renovated and dressed. Rooms were spacious, comfortable with everything you would want for a special evening. David and Mitch were incredible hosts and you could not ask for anything more. Nothing.
- Jo Ann (10/5): Such a lovely stay. The staff wete brilliant and the room so comfy. They have thought of everything. - Small boutique hotel with gorgeous well thought out rooms and locally produced mini bar offerings. Nothing to dislike!
- Zihua (10/5): An unforgettable stay that felt warm, inspiring, and incredibly comfortable - We absolutely loved the hotel we stayed at last night. From the outside, it looks like an old, classic building, but the moment you step inside, it feels like a completely different world. The interior design is incredibly artistic, yet at the same time it gives you a warm, home-like feeling that I truly adore. The ceilings on each floor are impressively high, which makes the space feel open and airy, and sleeping in the bed was unbelievably comfortable—so comfortable that it’s hard to even find the right words to describe the feeling. Every corner of the hotel reflects thoughtful attention to detail, and you can really tell how much care went into the design. The only regret we had was not being able to try the breakfast, as the chef was on holiday during our stay. Next time we come back, we will definitely make a point of trying the breakfast and other meals. We’re already looking forward to returning. Nothing
- Peter (10/5): Outstanding - Everything N/A
- Nadija (10/5): -
- Will (8/5): Walking distance to town. - Lovely heritage property.Great location and clean room and tastefully decorated. Having to climb up two flights of stairs with luggage and limited parking on the premises.
- Josephine (10/5): 10/10!! - The hotel was amazing! From the service to every detail considered for our stay. The host was amazing! Being caught up with flight cancellations and delays the host stayed back very late to ensure we were checked in and had everything we needed. The breakfast was delightful, the care and detail of having local ingredients made it that much better. Will definitely be back to Ballarat just for this stay! Nothing!
- Marco (10/5): Een ervaring!
- Natalie (8/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): A beautiful boutique hotel. Full of heart and soul and stunning art. - Absolutely beautiful room. So much thought and care has gone into this hotel. Nothing.
- Lane (10/5): Actually the highlight of our trip to Ballarat. The stay exceeded our expectations in every respect. - The hotel itself is a perfectly and tastefully curated repurposing of an iconic and historic building. The room we stayed in was fantastic with every single think you could wish for in a hotel room. Everything in the room down to the smallest detail was first class and thoughtfully assembled. The welcome and friendliness of the staff over both days was simply outstanding . I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Ballarat. I liked it all.
- Matthew (8/5): - Superb attention and care by hosts, lovely communal sitting room, beautiful interior decorating, fine furniture, bed and pillows very comfortable. Lack of basic in-room accessories including simple coffee and non-herbal tea products, shower cap, bar soap, simpler lighting controls, room door did not lock when automatically closed
- Ken (10/5): Exceptional boutique accommodation with welcoming friendly staff. - Wonderfully and tastefully appointed, truly boutique accommodation. Staff were exceptional. Have never had a more welcoming hotel stay. Staff resourcefully dealt with a logistical transport issue we ran into with calm compassion, which was greatly appreciated. Can highly recommend. No issues
- Nina (10/5): Luxury in the heart of Ballarat - Hotel Vera in Ballarat is the ultimate destination stay you simply must experience. Every detail, from the impeccable styling to the luxurious ambiance, tempts you to linger in your room all day and night. What an absolutely stunning hotel!
- Robyn (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Hotel Vera was exceptional in every way, a real gem. Everything was perfect, we couldn’t list anything that requires improvement
- Claudia (10/5): - An old historic building that has been lovingly restored. The rooms and common areas are beautiful down to the last detail. The owners are very welcoming and incredibly passionate about their work and the Hotel itself. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back. Nothing, everything perfect.
- Jennica (10/5): - Very clean and posh! We had a very good rest after driving 8 hrs. Highly recommended! N/A
- Christopher (10/5): Wow - spectacular find - treat yourself. - Omg! What a magnificent hotel and building - it was so stylish the rooms are exquisite and wonderful hosts David and Martin had thought of everything - you could not want for more it was the height of luxury. The restaurant was not open for our stay but it has the finest rated dining. There are plenty of eating establishments close by. Loved our stay I hope to go back one day.
- Gary (5/5): It was the best of times; it was the worst of times ! - Jared was personable and welcoming and gave us the history of the property and tour. - and later, advice on where to eat. The vibe is fantastic; calming and welcoming. Like putting on a comfortable pair of slippers. Comfy bed too. We were in an accessible room on the ground floor - Tourello. Other rooms are accessed by stairs only - no lift - so haul your bags. Not by choice, but because it was the last room available. I would not have liked to be there if I were disabled. The electric door opener was obstructed by a table and vase. The bathroom was good, but the facilities were tired. The shower was held in place with medical tape; plastic fittings on the toilet were missing and broken; although stylish, there was no way to get the sink to hold water and inadequate lighting at the sink (although to be fair, that is a bugbear in almost every hotel room); no amenities pack. No table or chair to work or eat at. Totally inadequate illumination at the 'coffee bar'. I ended up using my phone torch. Although I am not a fan of Nespresso, it is absolutely a step above the filter coffee provided, and means there is no way to heat milk. The milk provided was barely adequate for 2 cups of coffee and 1/2 cup of cereal. It is a good 1.5km walk (each way) to the 'restaurant strip', so we drove. The 'secure' parking space is very restricted, and it would be almost impossible to manoeuvre a large car in - and out, necessitating parking on the street in front of the property.
- Xiao (10/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): Stunning, luxurious and elegant stay which was very spoiling and totally memorable! - Stunning spacious luxury room and incredible bathroom . Designer perfection and elegance in heart of Ballarat. Walking distance to eateries.
Gracious hosts N. A
- Wendy (10/5): -
- 依恬 (10/5): -
- Lorraine (9/5): A fabulous art hotel keeping the old with tasteful design. A beautiful relaxing experience highly recommend. -
- Tom (10/5): -
- Shaun (10/5): -
- Premchandra (10/5): -
- Sophie (9/5): Loved it! Highly recommend - We stayed for a night for my partners birthday, I booked a night here as a surprise. Our stay in the Kingston room exceeded expectations. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent customer service. The amount of attention to detail really blew us away. From the amazing smelling flowers in the hallway to the decor in the room and the complementary late check out was much appreciated.
Loved the choice of streaming networks and the bed was super comfortable! Will definitely visit again when we are back in ballarat! Thanks for making it a memorable time! We were disappointed the restaurant wasn't open for dinner or breakfast as we were given a tour of the place and it looked amazing.
(Minor thing - couldn't figure out the light switch for the light on the mirror)
- STEVE (10/5): - Beautifully restored, welcoming and perfect for our night away
- Felicity (10/5): Superb Property - beautifully designed and decorated and thoughtfully appointed -
- kathryn (10/5): Justice for Vera - How to do justice to Hotel Vera ?
It is sublime .
Possibly the very nicest of hotels we have ever stayed in.
From the warmth and charm of the hosts welcome to the beautifully curated heritage spaces and oooh most comfortable bed this hotel sets a new high bar in comfort and style.
The continental breakfast was superb with excellent coffee.
We stayed on a mid week night when the restaurant wasnt open so that's an excuse to return !
- Carter (10/5): Fantastic place to stay, relax and eat - we will be back :) - Loved this accomodation!! We would stay here again, staff were lovely and helpful, room was luxurious, the location was so central and the food at the restaurant was absolutely amazing!! Would have been nice to have a turn down service between the two nights, but other than this we loved everything!
- Yingzhi (10/5): -
- Margaret (9/5): A very comfortable convenient accommodation. - Marble and brass with a lot of polished wood added to attractive overall decor. My one request was handled quickly and well. A most comfortable stay. My upstairs room, but it was soon changed to one more suitable.
- Trudie (10/5): A brilliant weekend away - What a beautiful property. So beautifully appointed, every room has its own personality and the artwork around the hotel is gorgeous. Also, personal and friendly service from everyone. I hadn’t realised this property is pet friendly so look forward to returning with our puppy. Nothing
- Ian (10/5): The Perfect Stay. - Beautiful hotel, exceptional layout. Comfortable bed and amazing bathroom. Amenities and toiletries were first class and you can tell the hosts Martin and David have an eye for detail with the design of the room and the appointments/accesories. We were greeted on our check in and communication was always prompt, plus the hosts were warm and welcoming, Hard to stay anywhere else in Ballarat after experiencing this hotel. Will try their 'hatted' restaurant next time around. Nothing negative.

THE best hotel and service we have had - ever. What a pleasure it was to stay there. THE most curated and considered rooms and furnishings. Personal check ins from a lounge instead of a desk. SO much care and thought has been put into this place, down to the finest of details. We were blown away! We recommend Hotel Vera to anyone who wants a luxe and modern escape, while still keeping the beauty of historic Ballarat within her walls. Thank you to Martin and his team for making our mini moon an absolute experience. H&L x
