The overall experience was disappointing and well below what the listing suggests. I booked largely for the harbour view shown in the photos. While my room was technically listed as having a harbour view, it was vastly different from what was implied and quite underwhelming. Even allowing for selecting a different room type, the photos create a misleading impression of both the outlook and overall standard. The property itself feels neglected. The dining area had boxes left sitting in the corner, and the outdoor area nearby had a noticeable collection of containers clearly waiting for recycling. The gardens are poorly maintained, and the interior paintwork is in very poor condition, which only adds to the tired feel of the place. For the price, it represents poor value. I wouldn’t stay here again. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but that’s where the positives ended. The overall experience was disappointing and well below what the listing suggests. Coffee in the morning was a treat. The driveway in and out was a little sketchy. There was a mix up over the booking. I'd inadvertently booked for 1 person and the owner was not happy that there were two of us. It was my mistake but it could have been handled better.

Really great value for money Only one thing but it did not effect the extraordinary stay. The location was on a steep hill so access can be a bit tricky. If you want to get fit - great location to go shopping.

- Cynthia (4/5): Beautiful stay, but an uncomfortable stay. - The property has a magnificent view and the house itself is beautiful. Room was very cold, air con struggled. Bed was very hard, only 1 pillow each and no extra blankets. We didn't shower because it was too cold in our room.

- Jane (8/5): - Arrived late after noon. The owner was most helpful as we needed directions. Room was good with a brilliant view of Burnie Harbour. Breakfast we sat with the owners. We talked and talked until we realised we needed to move on to our next destination.

- Angela (10/5): Beautiful room with amazing views in a close location to the heart of Burnie. - Ability to enter and exit the premises without needing to go through reception and being able to just be alone if I wanted to. I had everything I needed in my room and didn't need to use any shared facilities if I didn't want to. I was able to sit out on the porch and eat my dinner overlooking the ocean or eat in the shared dining room and have a chat to the owners. The complimentary barista coffee offered to me when I sat with the owners on my first morning was better than any I'd bought from the local cafe's. Nothing negative to report.

- Gary (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oakleigh house and Mike and his wife were wonderful hosts. - Oakleigh House has a beautiful view of the city and the ocean. It is conveniently located within 1 kilometre of the city centre and all the eateries.

Good choice of food places nearby.Hosts were very hospitable, allowing us full use of the dining room and facilities.Beautiful sea views from our bedrooms. Bed was quite hard and only 1 pillow each provided. We like 2 each.The scent of the power point diffusers in the bedrooms are overpowering.

- Melinda (10/5): Very comfortable and quiet with lovely views. - Very welcoming, adaptable and helpful manager. Very clean. Very comfy bed and nice, modern and clean bathroom. Highly recommended place to stay in Burnie. A little difficult to figure out where the driveway is at first, but fine after the first access. But I would not hesitate to recommend staying here.

It was nice to have a casual chat with him over breakfast. Bring relatively new to Burnie, he ran me through the attractions in and around Burnie.

- Rohan (10/5): Relaxed and enjoyable, thank you! - We especially liked the location and panoramic views of Burnie from our exquisitely appointed room with a 10/10 comfortable bed and delux shower. We also appreciated the warm and friendly service with homey feel to the breakfast with enjoyable conversation. We cannot think of how this accomodation could be improved, it exceeded our expectations in every way.

Views were spectacular over Bernie and the premises had all you needed. Pity about no breakfast, but we did have our own things with us, and the hosts could not have been more obliging. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. Nil

- Terry (10/5): Stately charm with a killer view. - This is a grand old stately home on the hill overlooking Burnie. It has been lovingly restored and converted into multiple apartments by Mike. We had the room with the stellar view (Room 10). The room is huge and comfortable. Close to town it was great. The access off the street is not great but once you work it out it is fine. Mike is a hands on owner/manager who is almost always around which is good and bad. I could image it being uncomfortable if you were not as gregarious as I am.

We couldn't really fault our stay but if I had to make a comment then it would be that as we stayed 2 nights our room wasnt serviced, but would have appreciated fresh towels each day or at least a couple left in the cupboard we could have used. We got in later on the 2nd night so didnt want to disrupt the host by asking.

- Rob (10/5): This is my second stay. The view over Bass Strait is spectacular. - Departed early in AM, before breakfast. Location is very central. The hosts Mike and Melissa are very hospitable and make you feel like you are part of their extended family. Very knowledgeable on all the local tourist attractions. There was nothing I could fault. The rooms are modern and clean, with crisp clean sheets.
