Guest Reviews
- Garry (4/5): - Nice Hotel great staff handy to everything
- Jessica (6/5): - Overall the hotel was nice, there was no staff at check in when we arrived we waited nearly 10 minutes, the fan in the room didn't work and the tv didn't have a remote.
- Christopher (8/5): Comfortable to stay at - Initially went past then found entrance off a side street. Quick book in. Parking availability limited.Nice bistro
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disappointing - Very noisy karaoke, disturbance on 2nd night patrons noisy after closing time. And someone trying to get into the accommodation area at 2am disturbing well after closing.
- Lisa (2/5): - It was a bed. No heating. 1 toilet for 6 rooms, terrible. Very cold. Bad parking. Very nasty place. Never again
- Anne (4/5): - The only positive about this was the price. Check-in was easy except thry got my booking confused with a prior guest and were trying (initially) to say I had no booking and they were full.
When I was eventually shown the room there was dust from the ceiling fan all over the bed, the ceiling fan had a good 1cm of built up dust and grime on every blade. The bed was like sleeping on a cushion, fine I guess if you like to sink into your mattress like a cocoon, but not for me. The side tavle lamp was broken and no bulb so completely useless. Sheets were grubby, not well cleaned, I had to remake the bed as the sheets barely tucked in. There was no heating at all amd in an atea that often drops to below 10deg overnight it was not ideal.
Shared bathroom was just adequate.
I get that it is a pub but the local karaoke (not so taltented) which went to 11:30pm on Sat evening was not a good ending to the stay, I understand this is not in the hotels control but the sound was deafening as my room unfortunately was just above the outdoor karaoke area. In general, staff were helpful (excluding Check-in incident). It is a hotel for very budget 1 night stays at the very best.
- Daniel (6/5): - W
- Damon (4/5): - The room was a short notice booking for family emergency.
The bar staff charged me for the room via Eftpos, even when I had paid via Wotif.
Now I have to chase a refund with Wotif as the pub say they do not refund and 'I' have to chase Wotif.
I guess you get what you pay for.
- Naylor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Drew (2/5): - nothing
- Suzie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Timothy (6/5): Overall, I enjoyed my stay, the rooms are clean and acceptable. I wil be coming back I hope some of the issues I raise g - The location and price room was a good size There was no bar fridge and the men’s shared bathroom only had 1 toilet to use.
The back stair case is a WHS hazard and in the respect of the stairs they are narrow and could cause serious injury.
- Clyde (4/5): - I won't be recommending the Tates Hotel as it was a very ordinary experience, poor car parking, stains on the linen, food was ordinary, poor maintenance of the premises.
- Steven (1/5): Cra9 - The add didn't say there no.air.con or ,wifi
,no mention of it shared bathrooms n the first 4 days there was no hot water for showers All the commodities were broken or damaged
- Sharon (5/5): Not the best place I have stayed - It was a nice old hotel I didn’t think the room was very clean. The carpet didn’t look like it had been vacuumed and the sheets had stains on them
- Natasha (8/5): - Stuff really friendly and welcoming
- Vakalahi (6/5): The sea food - The keno downstairs The stairs hh
- Semisi (8/5): - Like it
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Blake (10/5): - Definitely will be coming back maybe next week
- Charles (1/5): WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN NOR WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE !!! - The bed was comfortable There was no air conditioning
No ensuite, just a communal bathroom down the end of the hall
The room shown on the website was nothing like my room !
🥲🥲🥲
- Brigitte (6/5): - The bed was comfortable and for the price that was good enough. It’s an old hotel and facilities reflect that. The ensuite bathroom is tiny, there is hardly any surface to put a bag on, and nothing for hanging up clothes. Ok for one night.
- Graham (4/5): Disappointing, needs to be warned there are two flights of stairs. - Location ok only Windsor going backwards. The room served it’s purpose . The tiny bathroom’s door would not shut. The bed linen needs replacing, and the hotel alarm going off.
- Matthew (3/5): Location and bar staff were fine. Completely uncomfortable stay in the heat. - The guy on the desk was lovely. Friendly, tried his best to help. Absolutely awful comfort in heat. Zero air conditioning, the fan on the ceiling barely worker and did nothing to combat the heat. We asked at the desk if there were any fans we could borrow for the night. They had nothing to help. Do not stay in this place in the summer.
In addition, super loud karaoke happening right outside the window until very late. Don’t stay here if you want a good night sleep.
- Kathryn (7/5): Good - Was very good value and close to where we were visiting A little old and rundown
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Andrey (4/5): - bogans nest
- Nigel (3/5): Un acceptable - Bed sheet was filthy we couldn't sleep under the sheets so slept on top of them
- Gavin (8/5): Nice one nighter. - A nice central location. Comfortable. Exactly what we needed. Would stay here again.
- Shaojia (3/5): below average - cheapest in that area nobody made my bed for 3 days, not enough towels was given for 3 days stay, I had to ask myself, no aircon in the warm weather, no chair to sit, no fridge to keep food, room tiny, I gave 3 because I'm not a fussy person, I didn't make any complaint to the staff.
- Hansen (1/5): Bad experience - Nothing All
- Sharen (5/5): Passable - Room was clean but only 2 flat pillows It cost me $20 more then when I stayed there NYE. The 2 pillows were flat the ceiling fan is only one speed which is low. The ladies bathroom/ toilet in the morning was disgusting faeces all over the toilet and floor. Had to leave early just to go to a clean toilet.
- Harshit (2/5): - Rooms smelled like hell..
Cranks on the wall…
Spider web all around washroom and bathroom..
- Geoffrey (7/5): Install aircon - I didn’t have it No Airconditioning
- Don (8/5): - The Tate is a pub with older pub style accom with shared bathroom. The room was old and basic but clean. The staff member waited for me to arrive as the pub was shut because of the holidays. It suited me as an overnight stay. I was the only person there. Small thing but while they gave me towels they forgot to provide soap. I had some anyway. The shower pressure and hot water were good.
- Jewel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Noah (1/5): Uncomfortable and disgusting, not what it was advertised as at all - Nothing Everything
- Walid (5/5): Passable -
- Irene (7/5): Good -
- Jebin (4/5): - It was economic and a beautiful bar on the bottom level. What I don't like is the toilet/bathroom door was faulty and had to squeeze through it to get in.
- Spaz (8/5): Very good - TV and easy access through back door.
- Chambers (1/5): Worst Hotel in Windsor - Absolutely Nothing the staff were less than welcoming and friendly, the facility was tacky and best. the photos make it look much better than it is and the rooms were filthy and looked disgusting. plus the place was practically falling apart it was horrendous
- Sandy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Belinda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Bradley (4/5): It’s was to hot to stay there ended up going home - Location No air conditioning
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Kevin (4/5): Won’t be back - Friendly staff great location 1.Fan useless
2.Hole in ceiling and the roof causing water droplets to land on me.
3.Could do with air conditioning (I realise it was a hot in Richmond which made the room unbearable)
- Justin (2/5): - Worst staff ever and worst conditions
- Aidan (5/5): Passable -
- Sukhpreet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): Excellent for what I needed it for. - Cheap even with my own bathroom. Comfortable bed. Karaoke till midnight but what can you do?
- Anita (6/5): - Tv
- judy (2/5): - Barman Tom was very helpful. But the photos are very misleading and it wasn’t that clean.
Previous persons used soap in shower. No toilet rolls and a pack of tissues under the covers of the ‘clean sheets’.
- Ross (7/5): Good -
- Colin (4/5): OK for the money, good for locals, not travellers. - Their bistro food was excellent Small room, extremely noisy with karaoke played very loud right outside the rooms window until 11.40pm, then very loud jukebox till midnight.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): - Karaoke, lovely staff, not crowded, clean, comfortable bedroom
- Dave (8/5): Great pub 🍺 - Great customer service :)
Had biscuits 🍪 to go with a cuppa ☕️ 👍🏻 Window 🪟 wouldn’t stay open & No a/c
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Could not close door to toilet/ ensuite. Sliding door stuck in middle of track. Toilet roll holder fell off the wall. Ceiling paint falling off ceiling. Water stain on the corner of the ceiling. Went down to dining room, Sunday night at 6.55pm and was told kitchen was closed.
- Arvind (4/5): - .
- Peta (7/5): Good -
- Narayan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liz (7/5): Good enough for one nights stay. - Proximity to restaurant we had booked and it was cheap Some aspects of bathroom not clean and it’s a bit shabby and old
- Michael (6/5): Cheap but tired - The young guy who was running the place was really helpful, no request was too much. It seemed like he was doing everything.
It was relatively cheap. The rooms were very tired, there was paint peeling off the ceiling and water damage in the corners of the ceiling/walls. The sliding door to the bathroom was stuck halfway open and couldn’t be moved.
I got a room with an ensuite.
The bathroom was very small and there was a leftover soap cake from a previous guest on the shower wall.
There was no floor mat provided, even though water spilled from the shower (because it had no door or curtain).
The tiles on the floor of the bathroom were very slippery when wet, a definite hazard.
- Julie (5/5): Get what you pay for - Bed was ok. Staff were friendly. Bathroom door stuck open. Shower impossible to regulate hot water. Husband had a lukewarm shower and mine went hot and cold.
- Nigel (8/5): Very good -
- Beth (4/5): Not for family - quiet place eventhough it's above the pub. The ads doesn't matched, didn't meet my expectations. No amenities like what they've advertised. When I asked for a towel she give me a damp towel! I booked for 3 rooms only 2 towels for the 3 rooms. The bedsheets are dirty! stained and have someone else's smal thick hair strand!
The place is old and what can you expect for an old building! cockroaches!
Shared bathrooms lucky there's a tissue roll that's mainly it. Shampoo I have to share with the Gents bathroom.
Lucky there's a backdoor entry because I have kids! not recommended for family! It looks like an adult motel not a hotel.
- Malo (10/5): great - I like a stuff hospitality nothing
- Bradley (8/5): Very good -
- Mick (7/5): Good food and friendly staff - Clean and tidy close to where I want to go
- Warren (8/5): Very good -
- Katrina (8/5): - The staff were friendly
- Raj (6/5): Good value for a quick break in journey - Great staff. Good location. The toilet door was jammed.
The tap was broken.
The mattress was horrible. Needs to be replaced - the springs were like spikes.
- Sameer (8/5): Very good -
- Melissa (7/5): Good - We were in town for a sports comp and it was close to where we needed to be.
Staff were great.
Parking was easy.
Great food at the pub downstairs .
For budget accommodation it was what I expected, we would stay again. Bathroom door didn't close.
One towel for 2 people.
Shower moldy and nowhere to put anything in bathroom
Bed was not comfortable
- Sherwin (10/5): - Thank you
- Grahame (4/5): - Very little the young man when we arrived was very helpful
BUT THE BED WAS APPAULING THE METAL INSIDE THE Matress - what can i say other than it was the metal we slept on
The shower had mould the hand basin tap was not screwed to the basin the towel rail had fallen off
- Trent (10/5): Would stay again, perfect service! - Great service especially from new staff member (jack or james I don’t fully recall his name). Very tidy, little in room amenities. Very lovely staff. Highly recommend! Bathroom could ise an update, but was still decent.
- Hilary (4/5): Disappointing -
- Rosemary (6/5): Pleasant - Clean comfy No hangers for the rail. No toiletries in mens shower
- Terence (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (5/5): Unfortunately, the low standard of karaoke kept me awake until midnight. The towel rail is broken in the bathroom, as we - The hotel was very handy as to where I was working Saturday evening and then all day Sunday. The beer is good!
- Donald (7/5): Good -
- Maria (4/5): Disappointing - It was close to where I wanted to go Stay there Saturday night and Friday... there was a band playing right outside my window till midnight Saturday... there was karaoke right outside my window once again to 12 o'clock saturday....would have been nice if I was told in advance of that...had to get up at 5 in the morning both days not happy...
- Liz (5/5): Passable - The welcoming and friendly staff, great happy hour drinks and very good pub food. The room was upstairs without a lift which we didn't realise until we got there. Both internal and external stairs relatively steep so not suitable for some people. We booked the "Superior ensuite room" - the reality does not reflect that description. The room is basic and the bed average. Although some effort has been made to freshen the room there is still flaking paint on the ceiling and stained pictures on the walls. The ensuite had a broken towel rail, a light not operating, and a loose faucet on the hand-basin which became difficult to operate. The shower was small but good. We were hugely disappointed on first impressions.
- Terence (4/5): Disappointing - The staff we lovely & the position was good It was very very noisy , fighting in the hall way slamming doors for a long time the bathroom needed a lot of work there was no light , the tap set on the Hand basin kept falling over when you used it very run down
- John (4/5): Disappointing - Clean bed reasonable Midnight karaoke bad singing and noisy poor sleep.
- Virginia (6/5): Nice place but could be better! - Great price, friendly staff, clean and simple. Bed wasn’t very comfortable (felt a few springs!) and no blankets - just a few sheets and no heater - not ideal in the middle of winter. The restaurant downstairs was closed when I arrived at 9pm which was disappointing.
- Michael (4/5): - Food was great and the staff friendly, The room was clean however the bed/mattress was terrible. There was springs sticking out everywhere that actually twanged whenever you moved. Was impossible to get a good nights sleep, time to spend some money Tates if you are seriously going to rent this room out.
- Kyle (8/5): Very good - Great location, close to a lot of shops and train station Shared bathroom, for the price per night this isn't a big deal.
- Michael (4/5): - Nice staff, but in desperate need of new mattress, bedding and cleaner.
- Terry (7/5): The meals and staff are amazing, the owner needs to update the rooms here as they are outdated, someone has made a good - The staff and meals were amazing. Great location. The bed, looked and felt like the bottom half of an ensemble. The shower was very small and looked like a shower out of the 60’s. if these 2 items were up dated this would be an awesome little pub stay.
- Leigh (5/5): oops. - There was no breakfast, and the thing I liked about Tates hotel was leaving.
- Newman (9/5): Great, would stay again, has lovely charm. - Great food at the bistro.
- Mickey-1990 (4/5): Dingy and uncomfortable, but served its purpose for a last minute bed to rest in - Free parking and access after hours. The rooms are very small, cold and require constant air-conditioning to stay warm. This causes a dry throat as you sleep and is not very comfortbale. There are water leaks from the air conditioner and this does obvious water damage to the walls/flooring under it. The carpet is old and falling apart. The walls are thin so you can hear all the noises in the hallway and outside the building.
The bed is low to the ground, cheap mattress and very uncomfortable and lumpy. The bedside tables and other furniture are cheap and falling apart. The paint on the walls is peeling and there are cracks in the ceiling. The bathroom is small, with mould in the shower and chipped tiles. The shower is very small. The mirror is old and damaged. The vanity and sink tap are loose, wobbles as you turn on and off.
All of these problems could be fixed by a decent handyman and more care in the comfort of the room from the owners.
- Kirsten (2/5): Disappointing, unhygienic, uncomfortable and distressing - The motel was easy to find, and there was off street parking. The pub area (not the accommodation) was modern and pleasant. The barman was very friendly. This is not a reflection on the barman or the pub area downstairs. This comment relates purely to the accommodation and the shared bathroom facilities for paying motel guests. I note that we are experienced in staying in pub rooms, and were expecting pub room style accommodation - shared facilities, possible noise, basic room. Please read on and see the attached photos - the owners of this accommodation should be ashamed of themselves for not investing in the accommodation aspect of this motel.
The mattress in the room, was old, lumpy and falling apart. The sheets, while clean, were very stained. The carpet was dirty. The shared bathroom for women was covered in mould. The shared toilet for men had trouble flushing - there is obviously a blockage in the piping. Only one small towel was provided, despite there being two guests. We asked the barman for a second towel, and he tried to find one but couldn't. The accommodation would not meet hygiene standards, and should not be advertised until the issues are rectified.
- Alan (7/5): The hotel was satisfactory for my needs, although the bistro meal of a schnitzel and vegetables was just average. For th - It’s location and of convenient positioning to where I was working over Sunday and Monday. The staff were very helpful, and they have a good beer. The bed wasn’t all that comfortable, it seemed to have had a short sheet on it that didn’t completely cover the whole mattress, and the bathroom was lacking a toilet roll holder, a soap holder, and the faucet on the sink was extremely loose and hard to control.
- Gandimathi (1/5): Bad - 1) Room not clean and Bad smell
2) No towel in the room
3) dust
- Sarbjeet (1/5): Bad -
- Steve (7/5): Pleasant stay -
