Guest Reviews
- Debra (2/5): We would NOT stay again, although the property was very clean and beautifully maintained, no securi - We discovered no one was on the property, when we were told there would be someone present, we discovered the side door to the property unlocked and propped open and unsecured, we also discovered the carpark gate unlocked and open when we went to collect our vehicle, security NONE EXSISTANT
- Colin (4/5): Never to be visited again - Very clean room and condiments Having 3 different codes to from door, room and car park. when contacted they said that the codes were emailed and I told them I did not have access to email and they forgot to sms them to me. Furious after long drive to be encountered by a messaging service. 3 flights of stairs with no lights on the room landing. They went on during the day but not the night. No good for people over 65. Long walk to car park. No room make up and you never saw any people around. We got our information from a fellow visitor. They were furious also.
- Abdul F (9/5): -
- Daniil (6/5): - Удобная кровать Не удобно с парковки с чемоданами добираться до основного здания
Ужасная шумоизоляция
- Sheree (10/5): Stunning accommodation - made the overnight in Pt Augusta a highlight! -
- Mel (8/5): Comfy for our one night stay as we were heading from WA to VIC - The room was really modern and clean Trying to get into it was complicated
- Joshua (9/5): -
- Judy (9/5): Nice - The premises are well presented and the room comfortable. There is no one on site and the public spaces are not welcoming Sadly during our stay there was construction occurring so we were woken at 7 both mornings, we were not advised of the works at all
- Judy (10/5): Lovely - The property was beautifully renovated and clean and even better quiet at night The stairs, when travellers arrive suitcases come with them we had 3 flights of stairs, a lift would be a great investment
- Yvonna (9/5): -
- Yifeng (5/5): - The sheet and pillow cover is not clean
- Corey (1/5): No customer seevice, bad end of town - We didn't get to see the room We did not receive check in details
- Kiah (10/5): -
- Toby (7/5): -
- Kellie (5/5): Great for a pit stop - It was nice, great bathroom Finding old feta cheese in the fridge
- Philip (1/5): Terrible -
- Bec (8/5): Gorgeous building, great location, lovely room and facilities. - It was a lovely hotel in a great location. The self check in worked well. I needed to contact someone about something minor when I arrived and my call was answered quickly and my small issue was resolved very quickly by friendly staff. Exceptionally clean and great facilities in the room. I would definitely visit again for longer next time. The only thing was the space between the toilet and the sink in the room - very tight - I am only a small person so could imagine anyone taller or bigger would struggle.
- Shari (9/5): -
- Inasse (10/5): - Modern and clean
- Jovie (5/5): -
- chloe (6/5): was alright for a few night stay - nice security , bathroom is nice toilet not working properly, doesn’t flush had to fill up back of toilet everytime i needed to flush
- Peter (4/5): Disappointing - Not much, for a relatively new property with considerable money spent, the paintwork and grouting were unfinished, the floating floor did not appear to be anchored and squeaked loudly, there was no insulation between the adjoining room door or the main door, the bathroom floor flooded after a shower pooling in front of the basin. The coffee machine was good. See above
- gayan (8/5): No - No Not
- Joel (8/5): -
- Teiffel (6/5): Felt creepy as no personal touch and saw no other people in the hotel - The room was nice The car was parked far from the entrance there needs to be another entrance when travelling alone I like to be closer to my room. Also flights of stairs. I did not see one other person my entire stay in a town like Whyalla in an old large building like it was can feel a bit creepy. I will probably not stay again for this reason and will not recommend to others in my company.
- syed faisal (10/5): Overall good -
- Zac (9/5): -
- Rebecca (8/5): Would stay again & recommend. - Gorgeous loft style apartment. Excellent location right in town. Comfy bed. Lots of stairs. Room had adjoining door to another guests bathroom? I could smell the body wash very strongly & hear absolutely everything from under the door. Odd placement for the door.
- Christine (8/5): Central location and a beautifully preserved old building that adds real character to the stay. - The room was generously sized with wonderfully high ceilings and a very comfortable bed. The small kitchenette was well equipped, with a microwave and a coffee pod machine stocked with plenty of pods. The bathroom was compact, but the shower was excellent. There was also ample space to open our large suitcases, which made settling in easy. I wasn’t aware there were three flights of stairs, and with our heavy suitcases it was quite a challenge to get up to the room.
- Kirsten (5/5): . - tall ceilings i’ve gotten an email from you guys every second day after i stayed there a month ago please stop emailing me
- Stephanie (7/5): Good. - Clean. Good space. nice place to stop for a day or 2 when heading towards WA. Located In the town centre The hallway is VERY DARK! No lift.
- Don (10/5): Awesome value for money. The pillows were very comfortable and the room was very clean and modern - It was very neat and had everything I needed in a motel room. I was pleasantly surprised Maybe a touch small but nothing there that I didn’t like
- Jo (9/5): -
- Kelly (3/5): Not great - Not great u No staff, to many codes to get in
- Lily (7/5): -
- Wayne (7/5): - There was no towel in the kitchen. One bed was not made. Car parking is far away.
- Felicity (9/5): Great - Clean, comfy beds
- Elliot (1/5): Avoid. - Despite being told we would receive self check-in information between 1-1:30pm, we never received anything and the reception/check-in desk closed at 4pm so we were left with nowhere to stay and had to find alternative accommodation at the last minute. We never received any message from the property to apologise or explain why we were not sent the information.
- raphael (8/5): - The position was perfect in the middle of the town, close to eating places and a supermarket The floor was very slippery, and the building exterior looked derelict
- May (3/5): Can't contact admin during my entire stay - Clean I can't contact anyone as I checked in at 5pm on Sunday evening. No communication possible !!!
- Hannah (10/5): We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the accommodation was. It was comfortable and clean. No negatives. - Clean, modern and comfortable.
- Kerri (8/5): - Clean and tidy
- RICHARD (7/5): Good location if passing through. - Location. Building work going on.
Noisy locals shouting and screaming at night.
- Martin (10/5): - Keyless self check in
- Teasdale (10/5): - The entire space
- Frances (9/5): Lovely old building with fresh refurbishment - Refurbished and lovely old building in Port Augusta central area. We had a two bedroom suite with kitchenette. Was great for our overnight staySecure parking and very secure building. Very close to supermarket if you want to self cater and enough kitchen basics to do so Nothing at all
- Belinda (10/5): Beautiful renovated hotel right in the middle of town. - Absolutely loved this beautiful renovated hotel right in the heart of town. Should have been a lift.
- andrew (7/5): - The room was nice. Needing four different codes to get from parking to your room is poor
- Louise (7/5): Architectural, but not quite comfortable. - Modern, large and all conveniences.
Close to supermarket. Off street detached parking was a short walk. Most rooms up many stairs and no lift.
No ceilings made the space really cold in September and impossible to heat.
Busy city street and could hear everyone walking past.
- Louise (6/5): - Close to CBD Cold because of no ceiling.
No lift on o get it o upstairs rooms.
- paul (6/5): - Good location Having to use keypads became tedious.
Electronic chirp every 30 seconds from what I assume is a smoke alarm issue
- Taanawee (10/5): -
- Haylee (9/5): -
- Nakita (5/5): - The building was very cool. Car park was not secure.
No staff in the building.
Large number of drunk people out the front all hours trying to get into the building.
- Jessica (10/5): Great stay and location - Great stay and location! Easy and clear communication! Excellent Bathroom amenities, clean room with high ceiling and a great kitchen facilities. Highly recommended. No lift
- Sam (2/5): Impersonal. - Good location Almost impossible to get keys. No response to email. Phone calls not answered. When we finally got through helpful reception but had been left on her own and was overwhelmed.
Automated lighting in hallway not working. Hard to find room and open the door. Need to sort out maintenance
- Catherine (10/5): We had a great stay with staff ensuring their best for us to have an early check in. Great accommodation, will be back - Clean, easy to navigate with codes, rooms were lovely
- Brad (10/5): -
- Diana (7/5): -
- James (10/5): - Was apartment 5,awesome spacious rooms.well fitted out and very comfortable.
- Anita (4/5): - Not much A two bedroom suite was not what we got. The kitchen in one bedroom and the bathroom off that same bedroom. If my daughter wanted to use the bathroom she had to come into my bedroom to do so. Also the fact that it was up stairs with no lift was buried. I would never book here again
- Stuart (10/5): Outstanding accomodation in the centre of town. Eveything within walking distance, will be back - In the middle of the town, shops within walking distance Nothing
- Lindsay (6/5): - Creaking floors, no window in our room and we could hear our neighbours conversations
- Kate (8/5): -
- Jennifer (6/5): Brief overnight stay. Ate at the pub across the road - the most disgusting meal ever. - Location Very poor lighting in hallway. Insecure car park. Too many different codes. Cup supplied did not fit under coffee maker.
- Sathyawadi (8/5): - All good All good
- Igor (9/5): Really enjoyable stay in a historical building for a reasonable price. - Location is in a historical building close to the supermarket.
Clean room with a kitchen angle, comfy beds.
Rooms are very quiet. No view from my room. No dining table.
- Christopher (10/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): - Very cool building and well renovated
- Jenny (1/5): - Didn't stay, the room was not as pictured and being newly painted it set off our Asthma. There was no one on site to speak to so we had to find somewhere else to stay. I have requested a refund through booking.com.
- Julie (3/5): Do not stay! - The property looked wonderful in the online write up however on arrival the 'secure parking' was not secure. The gate did not work which left our car vulnerable. We had to walk down a narrow and dark lane to get to the front door. The code panel was faint and difficult to read. The interior hallways were poorly lit. The room seemed to be clean and was well decorated but perhaps smaller than expected. Even though we had prepaid, we did not stay and found alternate accommodation. Unsafe facilities in an unsafe environment
- Inder (10/5): - Port Augusta best hotel accommodation
- Dwyer (7/5): - The walls are very thin and a large group arrived late at night and we could hear every word of conversation. The were staying at opposite ends of the hotel and calling out to each other.
- John (6/5): Okay but too much money at this point in time, under renovation - The property was okay but having to walk out of property along front of property, three times is a bit too much. Then two flights of stairs.
- Marg (10/5): - Very tasteful renovation of a beautiful building.
- Adam (10/5): - Modern character of an old town and building.
Comfy, warm and top location Not much,
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Kathryn (10/5): Short stay in town in remodelled elegegant buildin - An elegant remodelling of an old building with modern bathroom Included a washing machine which was handy and in a central area to walk to shops. Private parking alo orivided
- Barney (9/5): - Easy, no fuss modern accommodation. Staff were helpful. All rooms had undercover parking except for my room. But, there were other unused that I parked in.
- mahendra (9/5): -
- mahendra (9/5): -
- Julie (5/5): We stayed away from the rooms as much as possible, will never book again. - The bed was comfortable Shared bathroom, the other people had to come into our bedroom to use the toilet. The Lighting in hallways and stairs was too low. There was no elevator and the rooms were not as expected for a 2 bedroom suite. They were just 2 interconnected rooms, one with no bathroom or toilet. Not enough milk in the fridge for 3 adults over two days.
- Peter (8/5): - Great hotel,beds were a touch hard
- Swampgirl (6/5): Pleasant - It was done well. We had trouble with the self checkin- email arriving well after we got assistance from another guest and a phone call.
We had just been remote for days and I was really looking forward to a hot shower. It was warm and when I got out I was cold. Loved the design and self contained aspect.
- Michelle (10/5): Perfect - Accessible and get value, beautifully presented Na
- Hobbs (4/5): Was okay for a night but not worth the price. - The location was close to shops, modern feel to the place and the kitchen was fairly well equipped. There wasn't an exterior window, only a frosted glass window into the interior public hallway, we could hear other guests and felt like we could be heard, had to tiptoe around. The shower pressure and heat wasn't good, there were stains on the linen, and no exhaust fan for kitchenette so room would get very gross smelling and hard to air out because there wasn't a window or any ventilation. I also felt unsafe leaving my car in carpark due to the late closing of the gate and the fence not being properly built along some of the sides.
- Rachael (8/5): Amazing building to stay in. - Great seeing the old building done up. Bit of a trek from the car park to the room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): One night stand - Stayed here for night. Whole room was very recently fully refurbished. Some small things like bathroom sliding door unhinged and still have installation stickers on mirror and sink. Pillows were a bit soft. But otherwise all brand new and ver clean. Not much vibe but good for a short stay. Self check in was smooth.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glennis (8/5): Wouldn’t stay there again - Security Wash basin in the bathroom was very small…very difficult to brush our teeth without hitting our head on the mirror. Also water splashed onto the floor.
Only 2 power points above the kitchen sink and not much work space.
Had to carry our luggage up 2 flights of stairs.
- Sherry (6/5): - There was no staff to greet you anywhere bcoz the checkin is all done by email and it was all keypads on doors.
- Heddle (4/5): We booked 2 nights but only stayed one. It was too awkward going throughthe other couples room to the toilet during the - It was clean. The shower was nice. Beds were comfortable There was only 2 small hooks to hang anything in the bathroom else clothes and towels just had to be on the floor.
The most disappointing aspect was the bedroom arrangement. I thought I had booked a 2 room apartment, and from the photos had a nice table area in the kitchen and a lounge area to sit in. Small kitchen and bathroom - perfect for 2 couples. But in actual fact it was 2 rooms - one with a bed but one room had a tiny kitchen no nice table or comfy chairs and a bed and the bathroom off that. We had to go through the other couples room to go to the bathroom. Completely unsatisfactory. Definitely false advertising and I would not recommend it. Very disappointed.
- Simon (6/5): Pleasant - Renovated beautifully Had to carry luggage up several flights of stairs , location to facilities were great but harassed by some of the locals made the stay slightly uncomfortable
- Leah (4/5): Disappointing - that there was no safe secure parking as advertised due to the gate being broken. It was also a decent walk from the car park to the front of the building plus two flights of stairs.
- Dianne (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Superb - Great room Close to every thing
- Tennant (8/5): Very good - It's was very clean and refreshing The acoustics of the place. Very noisy between rooms and out in the foyer areas.
- David (4/5): Eerily Quiet - We booked this accommodation as it had a gated area and car park for our stay. Upon arrival, we noticed the gate wasn't even there at the car park, and the fence was justly a pop-up temporary thing. The whole area was errily quiet and not a soul in sight. No staff are on site, and you just get in with a code for the door in a very rough looking part of town. We made the decision not to stay here in the end with our kids and sacrificed our booking, and stayed elsewhere for our time in Port Augusta.
- Kerri (5/5): Beware lack of on-site staff and lack of secure parking. - Comfortable bed, typical motel-sized room. The ‘secure’ parking was not secure … gate was off its tracks and leaning against the fence. Hotel is in a commercial area with little action overnight - hence the importance of secure parking 😟
The room was clean, basic cooking facilities were provided, but the bathroom was tiny, with no capacity for putting our toiletries anywhere except the floor. Disappointing.
The photos on the booking.com site do not represent the typical room size … they suggest something much more spacious, which was not the case.
The rooms are up 3 flights of stairs, no lift. Not suitable for people who have limited mobility.
The hotel is not staffed on site. There is no-one to ask for assistance. I had a couple of nights in Alice Springs on the same trip and the fire alarm went off about 9pm. The on-site staff co-ordinated the evacuation and liaised with fire crews. Made me wonder what would happen at Costello Hotel in a similar situation.
As part of a couple, I was anxious during our stay. As a single female traveller, I would not stay here knowing what I now know.
