Helena on reception was a gem. Very helpful and informative about the area, restaurants and coffee shops. Breakfast was delicious. Only thing was the pool. No overhead covering and only 3 chairs by the small pool.

A simpatia dos funcionários é um dos pontos máximos . Camas confortáveis. O que mais detestamos foi : o isolamento , não conseguir dormir pois ouve se tudo desde vizinhos a recepção , campainha a tocar às tantas da manhã impossibilitando o descanso . E no regime de meia pensão os menus são fracos , apesar do pequeno almoço ser muito bom .

- William (10/5): Comfortable Haven in the Chaos of Hanoi - My daughter and me took 2 rooms in Le Chanvre for the last couple of nights of our trip to Vietnam. We had mostly been staying in some (very nice) homestays and farmstays for 2 weeks as we travelled South to North, and I decided that we could afford to step it up a bit for our time in Hanoi. Le Chanvre proved to be a good choice - the rooms were very comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful (perhaps over eager at times, rushing to open the main door - not a thing I'm used to!) The breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty - a good range of Vietnamese and western options - and a view of the city from the 10th floor dining room. The bedroooms aren't huge - but that would be expected in a building just on the edge of the old quarter, but plenty big enough for a few nights. We had rooms at the front, so had sliding doors onto a (tiny) balcony letting us see the hustle and bustle of the street below. A big bonus for my daughter - after 2 months of traveling - was that our rooms had baths - complete with bath salts - very relaxing! The rooftop pool was one of the reasons we chose Le Chanvre - not to be able to swim laps, but as a way to cool down after walking around Hanoi's sights. As it turned out, the April heatwave broke just as we reached Hanoi, so that wasn't so necessary, but it was still a nice to sit in the water and look over the city. The location was fabulous - right on the edge of the Old Quarter, close to Hoan Kiem lake (you can just see the lake between the buildings from the pool) - perfect for walking the old quarter (I got up at 5:30 one morning to see it without the crowds), the weekend pedestrian area round the lake and only 10 minute walk from Train Street in the other direction. As I was staying 2 nights and my daughter 3 we had separate bookings (1 through Booking dot com and one through Agoda - which took reception a few minutes to unpick when we arrived - but we had complementary tea and snacks while we waited. Nothing - it's hard to judge value for money of hotels in Hanoi as they are so different, but I think it was fair (check across Booking/Agoda/Trip for the best deals)

The staff were attentive and polite, and always happy to talk and give suggestions for places to eat and things to see during our stay. The front desk staff always said hello and even gave us a gift upon leaving - thank you Helena and Jane! The rooftop pool & bar were a great escape from the midday heat where we could relax before heading out again in the evening. The location is very central to everything in the old town - so many amazing places to eat, and right near the lake for the night market as well. Nothing - it was all great!

- Jenny (7/5): Lovely hotel, let down by very small pool and only 3 sun beds. - Fantastic location. Our room was upgraded, which was very kind, but it was still pretty small. Breakfast was nice, although I felt pastries were a bit dry. Roof top are was a little disappointing. The photo of the pool on website makes it look way bigger than it really is. Main issue was there are only 3 sun beds and they don't provide pool towels...not that we needed them, as the beds were occupied! I specifically booked this hotel for the pool and as such paid more money, so I certainly wouldn't book again, as we like to chill around the pool after a busy day exploring.

Our room was clean and the location was great, also our room wasn't noisy at all. For a person who gets woken up by the slightest noise, That was a huge bonus. The only recommendation is bigger body wash and shampoo or 2 bottles when 2 people share a room. We struggled to both wash with one bottle.
- Monika (8/5): Great service and clean room, just do not stay in room 906 - The welcome here really sets a great first impression. The doorman was attentive, and the check-in process felt polished with a welcome drink and a genuinely warm arrival experience. A nice touch was the fruit provided on the first day, which made the stay feel a bit more considered and hospitable. The room itself was quite small and felt like a tight squeeze, with only average water pressure in the shower. Being given just one access card was also inconvenient, as it meant the air conditioning couldn’t be left on while out and returning to a very hot room wasn’t ideal. Breakfast was inconsistent; some staff were excellent, while others seemed very inexperienced, and the hot food (notably the sausages) was strangely cold despite being kept in heated containers. The biggest issue, however, was the noise. While being on a higher level initially seemed like a plus, the room was directly below the kitchen/restaurant, and the banging noise starting from around 5am was incredibly disruptive. Even with earplugs, it was still noticeable and not something you’d expect or accept when placing guests in that room.

- Carolyn (10/5): 2 night stay in Hanoi - A hotel in the old town with lots of beautiful old colonial features. The customer service was impeccable. We experienced a small medical issue during our stay and on a busy day with some shop closures, Mia in reception personally helped ensure I found another pharmacy to assist my husband and went above and beyond for us! The hotel has an excellent breakfast where the western food is actually served hot (often not the case we have found in other hotels) and it has a great sky bar. Room with lots of amenities and very clean. We accidentally booked a room with no window, but in reality there was one in the bathroom and it wasn’t an issue at all. Very good air con in the room too. Excellent location in the old town and a short walk to the majority of tourist spots. Being extremely picky given the high mark awarded, I would suggest it finds a way to prevent accidental shower leakage and needing to mop it up afterwards with a hand towel. Difficult to fault otherwise in our experience on 2nd floor.

Great location in the heart of the Old Quarter. Breakfast was delicious and our room (junior suite) was beautiful and clean - loved the little balcony. It’s also one of the few hotels in the area that we saw with a nice little seating area out the front, which was so good. The helpful, welcoming, and friendly staff were a real highlight. - Melissa (10/5): Can't wait to stay again - I loved everything about this place. The staff were immensely helpful and accommodating, the breakfast was always a treat and the room was spectacular. The room was clean, comfortable and just very cool in general. We had a terrace looking out on to the Hanoi skyline and could also people watch on the busy street below. It's located right in the heart of the tourist area so it was very convenient. The spa was also wonderful and the therapist was amazing.
