Guest Reviews
- Jeff (8/5): Perfect for our needs - Good price very clean central location Background history of the Prospectors Inn Outside. Of the hotel not well lit up at night. Easy to drive by it at night .
- Andy (9/5): Clean comfortable well located. -
- Beth (7/5): Staff were friendly and assisted when needed. Our family of 6 made it work with the 4 bedrooms. We would go back again. - Clean, easy access to it. Fairly quiet area and other people that were staying there were friendly also. No air conditioning. Tv always had to be reset.
- Steve (10/5): Would recommend it to family and friends. - Love the location and staff was friendly and helpful. They always asked if I needed anything or was there to assist if I needed it.
- Ben (8/5): Comfortable short stay - Great option for self contained accommodation. The 2 bedroom unit was spacious and clean, bed comfortable, kitchen has enough pots/pans/cutlery for cooking meals, good size fridge/ freezer. Bathroom clean, towels provided.
Would stay again No laundry, but there is a service charged per load.
- Tracy (10/5): - Room was cold as there was no ceiling in the bathroom better than that we love staying
- Guest (9/5): -
- Ge (10/5): - very good
- taylor (10/5): - everything was great.
- Julien (10/5): - The place was clean, maintained well and safe. A few minutes by walk to the town and shopping. Safe Parking. Will definitely stay there on my next visit
- Joven (9/5): -
- James (10/5): - Large rooms (2 bedrooms, full size fridge, oven, microwave)
- Autumn (2/5): - The room smelt like piss, the staff was super rude. Wouldn’t clean our room during the stay or do anything about the awful smell that our entire family was subjected to smell for 4 days. I will never stay here ever again or recommend for anyone to stay here. If the staff wasn’t so rude to my husband about it, it wouldn’t have been so bad.
- Simon (8/5): - Me and my dad showed up and had to pay extra to use the second bed in a suite that already contained two double bedrooms - got told some guff about how the room can be advertised as a room for two coz one double bed qualifies as a two person bed but if you want two separate beds thats extra.
come on lets be clear fellas that’s totally misleading, or at best easy to mistake advertising. a suite meant for two at $99 a night on Expedia became $150 in person. Paid it no argument coz we needed two beds right then and there so what choice we got?
And hey, i might not have minded paying 120-150 in advance for what we got but yeah I feel I absolutely got took, so eff that.
- MA-JESTYC (9/5): -
- Elsa (8/5): - Pas d’air climatisé
- Lorry (10/5): - Unique place; suite was large and spotlessly clean, although somewhat bare. Staff went over and above to send my son's forgotten stuffed animal to our new home (out of province) for which I am grateful. Only gripe is that the parking lot is not well lit. Enjoyed our stay
- Bifolchi (7/5): Price was equal to expectations. - Affordable. Clean. Newly renovated. Got an entire suite for the same price as a room with two doubles at other motels. Mismatched furniture.
Newley renovated but finishing touches not complete. Exposed networking cables, holes in drywall around fixtures, towels had stains, dovet cover had stains.
- Allan (8/5): - Good price point for Kirkland Lake area. The motel/inn is a work in progress but I trust it will only get better. We had a large room with kitchenette. The Inn and surrounding area is very quiet, great for sleeping.
- David (10/5): Excellent apartment-style suite of rooms at reasonable price! - Excellent, fully equipped kitchen. Convenient location, more like an apartment than a hotel room.
- Rivard (10/5): Great place to stay with a group. Had 4 bedrooms which accommodate us - Affordable rates and clean.
- Bruce Coast Forest (8/5): Great value for a suite hotel. - This property is a little unconventional. It is not like a typical hotel at all. There is no check-in counter or any of the usual features you might see in a hotel. HOWEVER, the staff member who checked me in was very professional. The hotel was in constant communication with me, met me at the door when I arrived. Check in was quick and easy. I was escorted to my room, shown the features and then left with instruction about how to contact staff if there was any need.
The room and building was very clean. The room was more like an apartment than a typical hotel room, with a full kitchen, sofa and chair, TV, separate bedrooms and bathroom.
The bathroom lacked a little vanity space, but was otherwise great.
The bedroom was spaceous, bed comfortable, but could use closet/hanger facilities.
The ventilation fan in the kitchen is pretty low-powered, so I wouldn't trust it to evacuate heavy cooking smells. It was fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes & cutlery.
The unit does not look like it is air conditioned, however this was not a problem for me at this time because the weather was cool and AC was not needed.
Overall, the property offers excellent value and I would absolutely stay again.
- Margaret (8/5): - Good value for money.
- Andrew (10/5): - Had a really great stay here! The Manager met us at our suite when we arrived and gave us a tour. The open living space, two bedrooms, and large bathroom were really nice and gave us lots of room to relax and be comfortable. Our suite had a kitchen and dining area that had everything we could need; kettle, coffee maker, toaster... all the essentials. And all of it was at a great rate!
- Susan (8/5): - It was very quiet and very clean.
It was very nice to have two bedrooms available, and the furniture was great. There's not a lot of natural light in the unit, but we managed by leaving the bedroom door open and opening the curtains. Thank you for providing the fans to keep the unit cool enough for us. It met our needs for a comfortable two nights stay. The manager was very helpful and kind. Thank you very much.
- Andrew (10/5): Great, clean, large rooms. - Great spot in KL. Recently renovated (Aug 2025) and immaculately clean. Great large spaces with large kitchens and living rooms. Certainly the best place to go in KL.
Quiet and convenient. Nearly half the price of the competition. Definitely will stay there again.
- Andrew (10/5): Best option in town. - Large rooms, clean, recently renovated. A quiet spot. Kitchen is well equipped, large fridge, etc.
- Kevin (8/5): - The place is currently under renovation but the price was worth it for a one-night stay. The beds, linens, and towels were clean. It was a very spacious place.
- Jorn (8/5): - Basic and with a kitchen --
- Cora (8/5): - Liked the room in the unit but TV needs more channels:)) very spacious and clean! Loved my time here!
- Agnes (10/5): - My room was brand new, very clean, very quiet and very large. With a full kitchen it was the perfect place to stay. All of this at the best price in Kirkland Lake. I'll be back.
- yvan (2/5): - I did not stay there this place was not in the town I wanted to stay it was 1hour on the opposite way of my destination I will like a refund I try to get a hold of someone. But all I got was run around I find out there was only one motel available and it’s not on you website I’m very disappointed
- Mengxi (10/5): - large space, have a backyard, near to dollarama and McDonald
- Agnieszka Weinar (10/5): - Spacious clean space, netflix, kitchen Looks shabby on the outside
- LUCY MAY (8/5): - We couldn't work the T.V. 1 pillow is hard other is too soft
- Steve (10/5): - Loved the rooms, the staffwas friendly and helpful, the rooms and area was quiet
- albert (8/5): - The 2 bedroom is spacious for the 2 of us. It’s ok but there’s no A/c hard to sleep in hot days. The main couch has a funny odour not sure what it was
- Sean (4/5): Only stay here if you need something cheap! - The clerk needs to take a course in hotel management.
Very unfriendly
, mumbled when speaking and offered minimal assistance.
Ad states there is ac...there is none! One small fan per bedroom. It was over 35 degrees and experiencing an air quality in effect.
- Jody (8/5): - Enjoyed the kitchenette with all amenities to prepare food Still under renovations left things unfinished. Once they complete renovations definitely a great place to stay with access to cooking in room
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional - Young lady that checked us in was absolutely a lovely lady polite and very helpful
- Carol (8/5): Good - Only stopped for one night. Very accommodating with late check in, as no one on site. They are in the process of updating the hotel. Good price for a two bedroom apartment with kitchen. Unfortunately both beds squeaked with any movement, but still a good sleep. Town of Lakeland was interesting due to once being a gold mine town.
- Edward (6/5): - No breakfast and other things
- Gayle (10/5): I would highly recommend this place - It exceeded expectations, both in room, location staff I cannot say enough good things If there was anything I cannot think of it so must have been very minor
- wendy (8/5): -
great value
- Susan (8/5): - Large 2 room unit. Very Clean.
- Rob (10/5): - The Prospectors Inn had everything I needed - two bedrooms with comfortable beds, a full kitchen with a stove, microwave oven and dishes and cutlery, a nice living room area and a complete bathroom.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Sara J (8/5): - Check in was a bit odd. No one available at first. Staff member came right into our room and closed the door to go over the necessary information. If I had been alone that would have made me uncomfortable. Room was Spacious with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen and living area. Rooms were clean but there was an overpowering smell at first. Not sure if it was cleaning solution. Couch was not comfortable and had an odour to it. Overall it was good just a couple of things that were not so good. Good value for the cost.
- Myint (10/5): - The space is very spacious and exceptionally clean.
- Surjeet Singh (10/5): - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Everything was well-organized and comfortable.
- Jacynthe (10/5): See Family - We would sray again, as it was like a small apartment, 3 bedrooms, kitchen and living room
- Cassandra (8/5): Very good -
- Mathieu (10/5): - Very nice
- Victor (10/5): - Quite
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shawn (10/5): Great place for a group.easy access to all amenities and snowmobile trails - Very accommodating for a group especially last minute
- peter (10/5): - Clean and the kitchen came in handy!
- Carolyn (2/5): - Liked the idea of the larger suites for future family gatherings, but not as advertised, pictures are not at all like actual. Would not return.
- Mitchell (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andre (8/5): Good room. - Good basic room, but walls are quite thin. The couple in the room next to us argued until past 2AM, making it very hard to sleep. Checkin was great. Location is great. Price was great.
- Daniil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Walker (9/5): Superb - Couldn’t get TV to work in room 15
- Michelle (10/5): - .
- Jeong, (8/5): - The room was OK but there was no hair dryer.
- Kristina (10/5): - Really liked how the rooms are set up lile mini apartments! Made for a good stay!
- Michel (10/5): - Great facility.
- Brendan (10/5): - Great place, best price.
- Jennifer (7/5): Good -
- Susan (7/5): A great find for a very reasonable price. I would have like to see the newer units. - This was a good find in a town with only a few hotels and some way over priced. Our two bedroom suite was in need of a few repairs, but I believe they are renovating at this time. Very very clean and comfortable beds, although I’m glad we travel with our pillows. Very well equipped kitchen with loads of dishes, full size fridge, microwave and cooking utensils. Some repairs not finished, but not awful
- Anne-marie (7/5): Good -
- Francine (8/5): - We had a nice stay at this property😊
- Phil (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (2/5): - We booked a large room and got a small room. Paid $50 more for the large room. Room was full of stains on couch and floor. Bathroom door didn’t look like it had ever been clean. Guy at hotel desk said manager would call me in a couple of days to deal with the over charge. Never heard from them.
- Chad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo-ann (6/5): I would definitely not stay there again. Although it was clean, it was not comfortable - It was nice having 2 bedrooms & it was clean The sofa was sooo uncomfortable, you could feel the boards in the seat & in the arms. We took the pillows off the bed & put them on the sofa so we could dit on it. Plus the bed was only a double size, not queen, so small.
- Meagan (9/5): Superb -
- Ron (8/5): - Anyway staying at Prospect and was okay for the price it was great they are missing a couple things that are very very important I can't stress this enough on summer nights do you need air conditioning not in one room or the other room and all the rooms they need little things checked like the bathroom fans, and other than that I can't say much more everything else was great for the price
- Dave (5/5): If sleeping was easier, everything would’ve been perfect - Clean The bedding was very cheap quality with lots of pilling, and the pillows were very flat, the mattress seemed to be old and springy, room was very worn, even with the air conditioner in my room and no fresh air coming in
- Chris (8/5): - While not fancy, room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. An economical option if staying for an extended period and a good set up for preparing your own meals.
- Cornelis (7/5): Good - Clean and quiet It was very warm in the room when we entered - we turned the air conditioner on, but it did not seem to help much. Opening the window was great, but there was no screen in it.
- Donald (4/5): - Your standard questions really don't apply, here, for the Prospector Inn was not a typical roadside inn. From the outside, the place appeared run-down, as if closed for business: peeling paint, broken pavement, weeds, gravel parking area, poor signage. The entrance, as such, led only to a series of corridors, clean and painted brightly white, several signs pointing, past a cold drink machine, to the closed "Office" door. I rang the bell and was pleasantly greeted by the owner (?), who checked me in and showed me to my room, which was clean, but spare, with up-to-date kitchen appliances. Stains on the sofa. No air conditioning (on a very hot, sultry August day), but a fan that helped bring cooler evening air inside. Modern, clean (but small) bathroom. Fast wifi, once I figured out how to connect. (Several "Prospector" sites listed and I seemed to have to search at random to hit the right one!) Perhaps better suited for someone needing a longer-term stay with kitchen than for a room for only a night or two. No public amenities other than that soda machine along one corridor. No "public" spaces inside, just the rooms along those bright, white corridors!
- Allison (6/5): Good value for the money, it was clean and comfortable but not fancy. - Good location and value for money. My room was clean and comfortable. Outside was very rough and not well taken care of. Inside was clean but also rough, renovations have been done, but cheaply and not well. Bed sheets were microfibre, mattress and pillows were lumpy.
- Bruce (8/5): - Good place to stay. No light above the sink. Small A /C unit couldn’t keep up.
- Craig (4/5): - The room was not well prepared compared to most sites for the cost. No air conditioning, no coffee, ants in the bathroom, no dish washing stuff except soap, no towels in the bathroom or kitchen, reception was some employees room. Places needs to up their game.
- Bhim Singh (10/5): - Best place to stay less than $100.00 Canadian-Best reception-best Wifi-they make it go by visiting room-one of the top one-fully two bedroom suit with range fridge micowave-top one of 6 places I stayed so far-very friendly contacts
- Tanya (10/5): - Great spacious rooms. Clean and accommodating when running a late check in.
- Jf (10/5): Exceptional - I liked size of room and full kitchen a plus
- Sheila (10/5): - No air conditioning
- R (8/5): Very good - Very roomy No ac in actual room
- Jaden (10/5): - Great stay
- Lexanne (10/5): - This place is way beyond my expectations. The units are huge, brand new, clean, comfortable, bright, with full kitchen and essentials. There's a livingroom and small table & chairs. The price is amazing and long or short term stays are offered. If you're in KL, this is the place to stay.
- Holly (10/5): - I liked that we had private room and room enough for family a kitchennette fridge stove tv
- Hendsby (5/5): Passable - The double room. The bed was to soft and the room was to hot not enough AC in the room.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good -
- Robin (10/5): - Great rooms, great price
- Richard (8/5): Place was clean and quiet. The rooms were not bad. Requires some TLC and finishing touches. -
- Albert (10/5): A great place to stay - Very roomy, very clean, most importantly a comfortable bed. Especially before a 12 hour driving day.
- Ana (10/5): Convenient staying - A very convenient and entirely acceptable overnight stay on our long trip to Northern Ontario. The surroundings of this hotel are still under construction.
- Cathy (10/5): Book again for the beginning of June. Totally recommend this place - Love the space very clean and equipped with all we needed NIL
