- giorgio (9/5): - Very nice and helpful receptionist, she helped us with the check in even if we arrived late. She offered to book all the tickets for the park and grand canyon for us, but we already have them. Room was big enough with a nice balcony. We found water in the room as soon as we arrived, probably due to the very (very) heavy rain from the morning. However, the staff promptly helped us and cleaned everything to solve the issue. We appreciated it a lot.
- Clara (4/5): Hotel entspricht nicht den Versprechungen - Die Lage war ganz, man kam schnell zum Nationalpark und zum Canyon Alles in allem hatten wir einen sehr enttäuschenden Aufenthalt hier. Es verspricht nicht das was sie hier auf Booking beschrieben haben. Hier die Sachen die uns nicht gefallen haben: Kein englischsprachiges Personal an der Rezeption und wir hatte auch erst das falsche Zimmer bekommen. Die Zimmer waren schon älter und teilweise sind die Fliesen im Bad/ in der Dusche kaputt und locker. Klimaanlage funktionierte nicht und Ameisen im Bett. Man darf auch scheinbar in der Lobby rauchen?! Bezahlung sollte irgendwie auch immer an eine Privatperson laufen und nicht über einen Business Code?! (wir sollten mit WeChat/Alipay zahlen) Wenn man nach einem Taxi gefragt hatte wurde einem ein privater Transfer berechnet (ca 30% mehr als mit Taxi)

- Sara (8/5): Bonito lugar donde alojarse para visitar el parque natural - Personal encantador y resolutivo, el hotel tiene encanto, es comodo (con ascensor) y un patio bonito donde desayunar. Esta cerca de tiendas y restaurantes, pero en zona tranquila. La entrada al parque natural esta a 5min en didi o 40min andando. Te invitan a té que te lo hacen en el momento, muy amables. La habitacion bonita y comoda, pero algunos enchufes no funcionaban. Por ser semana festiva en china quisieron cobrarnos un plus, pero todo quedo en una confusion.

Some of the rooms need renovation/ maintenance: cobwebs in the ceiling, there was a hole in the flooring and the shower holder was not properly fixed to the wall.

Zona intorno alla struttura fatiscente, camere e struttura abbastanza pulite. Ottima colazione tipica cinese. Letto molto duro, aria condizionata debole in stanza.

- Jeroen (9/5): Great location - My second visit in this hotel. Close to national park. English assistance Carol is the best. They have changed the location of lobby, as if you are not aware you think you walk into a tea shop first.
- Ma (9/5): Highly recommended - Clean, super convenient location, room is exactly as described. Would say that the lady is a super host, introduced and explained to us how to tour zhangjiajie and offer to help us with all the booking (they have no commission, it’s purely a service provided). This hotel is part of the 索溪山寨 hotel chain that consist of restaurants. So it’s restaurant is right beside and the food 三下锅 and the alcohol is very awesome! And there’s 10% discount when you show your room card. There’s also a shared and portable dryer in the room that is pay-as-you-use. Overall, an awesome experience that I would recommend to all! The only slightly bad thing is that the toilet is glass door and only covered with a translucent curtain. Also, the main door of the accom closes at 12am so after 12am we had to go through the garage which is super dark. But all is well, felt very safe in the town.

- Robert (7/5): Comfortable stay, good location, nice staff - The room was comfortable, stylish and served all my needs and more. The hotel was charming, it looks like they do tea ceremonies as well. The best part was the location, a convenient vibrant area with many restaurants and shops around. Just a 20 min walk to the East park entrance. The staff was very friendly, they did not speak English but genuinely wanted to help via the translate app. The room did not have a typical window looking outside, instead it was facing an indoor courtyard which gave a special view. However due to the large single glass windows, I was often hearing other guests making noise as they were talking very loud in the morning or late at night. Also if you are sharing the room, there is only a thin curtain between the bathroom area and room, you can see the other person.
- Monika (5/5): No go during colder months - Quite close to the mountains, got a map although advice was not very usable, we were warned that one day is too short for a trip, well it was way more than enough, too many bus trips and cable cars available, the view is repetitive, you can tour enough for a lifetime in a day. I'm glad booking let's me rate even if the owner revoked my invitation to review. End of October, thin blankets, heating off. Courtyard style, cold building, rooms got inner courtyard windows, teashop downstairs, noisy place. Got a room near the common toilet, got changed for one right by the elevator. That's about staff helpfulness. The shower leaking in the bottom, can't close the glass door either. Dust and spider webs, humid walls, paint coming off. Might have been a good place for a summer stay back in the day. Some of the rooms feature a dust covered pointless mahjong table though.

- Yujun (10/5): Very helpful staff! - The staff and front desk were very helpful and they offered ticketing service for the national park. It was convenient and no markups. We had some issue with ventilation in the room and they upgraded us to a better unit right away. Glad that was sorted. The restaurant next door also belonged to the same owner, and has great food with reasonable price!

I loved it! The staff were so incredibly helpful! The location was fantastic, 20/30 min walk to the National park entrance. Very very happy and would love to stay again
- Jim (8/5): The stay over all was pleasant despite the couple gripes. - The rooms were very big compared to western standards. They were pretty clean but wearing out due to age. The location was very convenient location in the center of town close to shops and restaurants. There were a couple of gripes I have about the hotel. Some of the towels provided were old and had holes in them. The hotel had washers to do your laundry but you had to pay to use the dryer and not a good dry at that. It was not a dryer you think it is but a wardrobe with hot air coming from the bottom. We didn’t end up using it as on of our traveling companions said it wasn’t very effective at drying.

- Anvar (1/5): Horrible experience , the managment was not able to help the taxi driver to locate the hotel - They have nice lobby Congested , poor response , google location was different from actual, the name of the hotel was not viscible. Difficult to locate , even the next door shop dont know the name published with booking .com. The management was arrogant . They asked us the come to another hotel which was known to the people and taxi driver . They took the payment ( cash) then again they deducted for my credit card . ( charged double for one night stay). They promised us one free stay next day for the double payment but they again charged us . To avoid the fight in a different country we paid again and left

They also allow you to a complementary tea tasting which was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place. The room was a little damp and smelt damp so hopefully that will be sorted but the room itself was very nice.

- Val (10/5): Amazing stay and Kind people - Location is great to the park entrance. The room is spacious and beautiful. There were many local restaurant, tastes good.just right next to the hotel. Staffs were helpful and keep smile.We will come back if we return to Zhangjiajie.

- Chenghua (8/5): despite the hiccup on noise and various small inconvenience - stay was ok - breakfast is good - local breakfast. room is nice. staff friendly and helpful every night there the restaurant beside the hotel drags the table and chairs till past 11pm, their cupboard was used to store winter blankets - so we have to hang our clothes on a temporary cloth stand.

I had a feeling that I not just booked hotel room, but got ready for use vacation package : Carol helped to organize transfer from railway station, tickets to the park and evening show, even prepared program for park visit - that was very helpful, since park is huge and without advices you can easily spend hours to understand where to got and how to get there. It's not related to hotel, but during winter it can be really cold in ZJJ. be prepared for this

They do their best to show me everything and give the advice for many activities including the beautiful show. They keep in contact by WeChat to ensure that I am ok and safe. Answering all of my questions. Book for me a taxi in case I did not like to use the bus. They keep in touch once you booked the bedroom and help you to organise your trip. The bedroom is nice and warm. Also, they provide me with the evening local tea for free. Nothing at all.

- Kathleen (8/5): Great location with aesthetic, but impractical rooms - Great location, central to abundant food options, evening activities, and the park entrances. Staff was very helpful with park bookings, airport pickup, and restaurant recommendations. I tried to coordinate some of this ahead of time, but ultimately had to struggle through language barriers to book my tickets. The bed was super comfortable with an electric blanket provided during the cooler weather. Showed was perfectly hot! While the aesthetic of the room is calming and beautiful, it’s somewhat impractical to have the toilet enclosed in a glass box with a translucent curtain. Your partner can see and hear everything from the bathroom so you have no privacy if the lights are on! Super awkward. We also had a mosquito in the room on the first night, which resulted in bites.

Nearby places offer sandwiches, bakery pastries and good coffee, for us it was a better option for breakfast rather the hotel. Improveable maintenance

- Low (10/5): Extended stay for 2 more nights @ SecGarden Boutique Hotel / 索西山居 - Ms Carol contacted us via Booking.com messaging app soon after our booking was completed. True to the reviews read, Carol had been nothing but friendly, helpful & prompt. Upon our arrival on 8/10/23, we met up with Carol and another 2 gems - 小陈/陈姐 & 刘峰弟弟. These 3 angels of the property advised & helped us to purchase the following tickets(*), plus briefed us DAILY on transport arrangements & strategies to cover the parks efficiently. 小陈 served us Chinese tea every night while she briefed us patiently. *张家界国家森林公园 *大峡谷&玻璃桥 *天门山 *魅力湘西表演 The location of the property (武陵园风景区 天子路）is right in the smack of eateries (7am to 2am) & 10am-10pm shopping (walk towards the direction of 军地小学 & it's all within 150m). The shortfall are : - strictly no late checkout - awkward & cramped showering enclosure in the bathroom - do not take the online description of "Twin Room with Mountain View" (we chose this room type) seriously. 小陈 concluded that a side glance/view of the mountain justified the room type booked although we were not at all convinced - our assigned room faced nothing of a promised mountain view but a 2-3 storey restaurant & shophouses directly ! LOL ... Anyway, nothing beats the human touch we received with sincerest thanks & fond memories of our stay at the property would linger on & on ...
- Luisa (10/5): Best staff! Very good value for money! - We got a free Upgrade to a super nice room which was extremely spacious! The best thing however is the staff! They are incredibly helpful. Especially when facing the challenges of being an international traveler, it feels great when there are locals that help you out! Nothing really. Just be aware that the front doors are closing at midnight!

They also checked with us in advance and helped us book the tickets for the Tiammenshan and the Forest park. They also allowed us to check out later. Plus, the hotel was so beautiful and we would love to visit again.

As the only staff member with good English, Carol was super helpful in organising things for us and went above and beyond. Lack of availability of drinking water except for the small bottles provided - a water cooler downstairs would have been a good option, no tea or coffee in the room. The shower cubicle was very small so you either turned it off with your body or opened the door with your body and flooded the floor! Nothing major and we enjpyed our stay overall.

The daily tea ceremony was one of the highlights at the hotel! We could relax and taste different teas and talk about the most beautiful place on earth! The room was beautiful and clean! Cleaned every day! Very comfortable bed and hot shower! Extra amenities you might need all available! Best stay! We would love to come stay again! Highly recommended!! We loved staying at SeaGarden! Close to everything in town for dinner and night market atmosphere! Close walk to the forest park entrance. Best stay!

Stay here for the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.The location is fantastic, within walking distance to the park entrance and any easy walk to many restaurants near hotel. The staffs were proactively helpful and went above and beyond. Helping arrange trips, even telling us right shuttle bus to the Baofeng Lake and Yellow dragon cave in Wulingyuan (very easy to get bus from bus stop near hotel, no need to take expensive taxi ). The room is large and clean. Manager Matt spoke excellent English and fantastic knowledge of the area, which is super helpful for our trip in Zhangjiajie. The team helped us get tickets (Glass Bridge , The Park) that we need to make our trip easier. There have a big supermarket to get supplements very easy. We have a great time in here. - Anonymous (10/5): Perfect location, Amazing place to stay - Had an absolutely brilliant stay at SecGarden Boutique Hotel.The hotel is so close the the Wulingyuan gate of the park (just 10 minutes walking) and the surrounding area is local restaurant, night market and public transportation. The Wulingyuan is very nice small town where is very easy to get everything ur needs for the trip of Zhangjiajie . At first, the size of Zhangjiajie makes it seem a bit difficult , Matt and Carol were so kind and so helpful in making an itinerary and giving advice so how to get around and where to go. They can help u book the ticket for park, cable car and glass bridge in a very short time. The restaurant was clean, pretty and comfortable. There are many restaurants near hotel, means so many choice you can have and food is amazing !!! If you want to explore Zhangjiajie, I highly recommend this hotel. nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Amazing stay in Zhangjiajie - This boutique hotel we booked which is very conveniently located 10 minutes walk away from the wulingyuan main entrance to the National park. Large room, nice ancient design and the rooms were very comfortable.High value for the room. Amazing hospitality and Matt speaks English fluently, he will help you with your every needs and gave me perfect plan to explore ZHANGJIAJIE (arranging transport to and from the airport, tickets for the Park and Tianmen Mountain). Delicious meals from local restaurant next the hotel and you can have a relaxing walk along the pretty river near hotel. Highly recommended! We will definitely come back. Everything was great!
