Guest Reviews
- Viktor G (7/5): It is not a real Fairmont - Staff - they tried their best to provide a good service. It is still Fairmont - some prestige can be felt though it was not what I expected Letters of the sign on the facade (up on the very top and also above the entrance) do not have all the lights, so they are only partially visible at night - it is a shame for Fairmont. Rooms are very small, sound isolation between the room and the corridor is terrible - I could hear 100% of everything that was happening behind the door. They did not have any heat and a few days when it was cold we feel uncomfortable. I am afraid this is one of the worst Fairmont hotels in North America.
- Scott (3/5): Facility does not reflect brand - Property is in desperate need of refurbishment Damaged, dated rooms that felt dirty.

- Oleksandr (10/5): - Our stay at Fairmont Winnipeg was defined by an outstanding level of service, and I would like to specifically highlight Daniil Vienikov, whose professionalism and genuine care made our experience truly unforgettable.
We arrived at the hotel after an extremely exhausting journey — nearly 2,500 kilometers on the road. Along the way, we faced serious difficulties: our car got stuck, we had problems during the drive, and by the time we reached the hotel we were completely exhausted, both physically and emotionally.
From the very first moment, Daniil Vienikov welcomed us with incredible warmth, empathy, and professionalism. This was not just standard hotel service — it was sincere human support at a moment when we truly needed it. His attitude immediately changed how we felt after such a difficult trip.
Daniil Vienikov took care of everything with exceptional attention to detail. He organized everything perfectly, surprised us with a complimentary martini, and ensured that we received exactly the room we had hoped for. After such a long and stressful journey, this meant more to us than words can express.
What impressed us most was how one person — Daniil Vienikov — could completely transform our entire hotel experience. Thanks to him, we felt not only comfortable, but genuinely welcomed, valued, and cared for. This is the kind of service that stays in your memory long after the trip is over.
We are giving the highest possible rating without any hesitation and sincerely hope that Fairmont Winnipeg’s management takes special note of this review. Employees like Daniil Vienikov are a tremendous asset and a true reflection of the high standards of Fairmont. Having such professionals on the team is a major reason guests want to return again and again.
Thank you for an exceptional stay — and special thanks once again to Daniil Vienikov for setting such an outstanding example of hospitality.
- Brent (4/5): - Room was okay In the room there was fingerprints on all the glass, like smudges rather, the tvs both didn’t work properly, and our key cards didn’t work for the room, even after getting them re keyed multiple times still wouldn’t work. We valet’d our car, then had to walk parking lots over to it, when we needed something from it, then were hounded to give the keys back before we got inside the building
- Garth (10/5): Very nice and well appointed hotel. - Hotel was great, room clean and bed comfortable. Nothing
- Richard (10/5): Quite enjoyable. - I enjoyed every breakfast I had and dinner in the hotel. And had a great time in the pool. Nothing I can think of.
- Nicholas (10/5): Classy and beautiful in the heart of downtown - What is t there to like? Beautiful historical hotel with modern touches. World class staff from all levels of the hotel, great bar and food options. Access to many neighboring bars, restaurants and banking without going outside. Nothing!

Gym was nice Rooms were dated. Wall paper pealing in the bathroom. There are no USB chargers anywhere in the room. My room lacked hot water. The pool area doesn't have a hot tub.
- Daymi (9/5): Enjoyable stay - Nice staff. Clean. Valet service. Good location. No free parking at the hotel but it's downtown, so not unexpected
- Kathy (6/5): Love the Fairmont but upgrading to decor needed.particularly the stained, ill fitting carpet - The staff. The Fairmont experience. Welcoming. Stains on the carpet. Heater quite loud and blew cool air half the time. No fridge.

- Gabrielle (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jennifer (10/5): Excellent hotel, good location close to restaurants - Valet parking was awesome, we walked to our concert it was close to lots of restaurants
- Angella (1/5): Bad - Nothing Bugs around my dinner, room dirty and they didn’t give an invoice. Internet is awful.
- Leonard (8/5): Very good - Exceptional service, especially the valet parking The hotel is showing its age, although it is very clean. Paying for Internet sort of reflects that.
- Janis (8/5): Very good - Accommodations and staff were very good Disappointed we weren't told the pool and hot tub weren't in service
- Dylan (10/5): Exceptional -
- billybob101 (10/5): Perfect three night stay - It had been a long, long time since I had stayed at this property- more recently favouring options more convenient for my work.
In short I was really happy with this stay. I elected to upgrade my room to the gold level. I really enjoyed the lounge for breakfast and an evening snack. The attendees of the lounge were exceptional - sorry I didn’t catch their names! Valet service was quick and efficient. My room was comfortable and well appointed. I had a welcome treat in the room, a couple nice bottles of water, and Fairmont’s workout gear (see photo). Soft and comfortable bed and bedding.
I found my stay well priced for the quality and service. I will be back no doubt.
- Nicole (4/5): Not worth the money… Very disappointed :( - Very nice lobby, comfortable beds and pillows. Clean rooms. 1. Very bare and dated rooms. For the price was expecting something nice as we were out in a date night.
2. Thought I booked a king suite with a city view. It was just a plain king room and the city view was just the building across the street.
3. No charging docks or usb ports for charging. Lots of outlets but didn’t help us without blocks. We ended up borrowing one from staff.
4. Very basic cable and an older tv that you can’t stream or screen share on. Shouldn’t have to pay per view at an outrageous cost with the crappy cable and tv.
5. No extra linens and only one robe for the two of us.
6. No free parking offered. Had to pay about 20 bucks in top of the outrageous price of the room - with no bang for your buck.
Tried to have a romantic date night and splurge on a nice room and was left very disappointed.
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was amazing. So friendly. Absolutely nothing.
- Sumudu (7/5): Good -
- Lauren (3/5): Uncomfortable hot muggy sleep. - Friendly staff No air conditioning room was very hot and muggy. The rugs were also dirty.
- Hamid (9/5): Superb -
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - The front desk, especially Ralph. Great guy
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great service - hotel needs an update - Gold floor service was outstanding. Rooms need some renovations, especially the bathrooms.
- St. (2/5): Gross - The bed was soft. The location was good. It was extremely old and run down. The walls were littered with dirty hand prints. The wall paper was peeling up. There was a dirty towel that was left behind. The rooms NEED renovations because it’s gross.
- Nikki (6/5): Pleasant - Hotel lounge was nice and was a quick walk to the arena Room was run down and in need of many minor repairs
- FuzzyBeaver (10/5): Delightful stay on the Gold Level - We stayed on the Gold Level. The rooms are nice and well appointed. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the rooms perfect. The Gold Level staff are outstanding. They go out of their way to provide excellent service and to anticipate your needs. Although the buffet area is compact, they do a great job having a number of new items each day. The door staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a direct connection to the underground walkway system.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -

- Haleema (7/5): Good -

- Canadiantraveler14 (10/5): Great Fairmont Feel - We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We chose the Gold floor which is so worth it! The lounge is calm and clean with great snacks and breakfast. And above all, Aarsh was such a wonderful staff member. He was helpful, friendly and even found us a cord so we could use our iPhone in our rental car for our cross country trip. Thank you!
The rooms are on the older side, as is the building. But they are clean, smell good and we had spectacular sunny sky views. And comfy beds!
- Kristina (9/5): Was great, sweet staff. Very good price! - It was a nice comfortable place, easy check in and the highlight was honestly the cleaning lady who cleaned my room. I came back in the same time she was there and she was just so polite and kind and we actually had a good conversation and she did an amazing job cleaning it felt so comfortable and safe. It was a quick stay, can’t comment!
- Tyler (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great. 5 star across the board.
- Tin (7/5): Good -
- 488traveller022 (6/5): Run down - It’s run down. The smoke detector was hanging from the wall by its wires. The temperature control didn’t work and the room was unbearably hot. Maintenance brought a fan and the next morning I requested a different room.
I used the gym once. It was too hot. There was no fan and nothing to wipe down the machines after use.
The staff were very friendly. Drinks in The Lounge were good. The Velvet Glove restaurant was closed.
Overall, this Fairmont is not a nice hotel like Fairmont in other cities.
I was told renovations are imminent
- Larry (7/5): Good - Coffee Keurig in the room didn’t work, which was disappointing. Gym on the 21st floor was adequate but small , with one of the Eliptical machines faulty with a broken pedal. 2 elevators had floor indicators, inoperative . No USB ports in the room , were a surprise and disappointing , but the room itself and staff , were very good.
- Perry (5/5): Great service but hotel old and rundown - Great service and good location Room was old and run down. Scratches on furniture and worn carpets
- Beaulieu (9/5): Awesome! - The Valet crew were amazing! They really took a lot of stress off when it came to trying to park at this hotel. I appreciated the hospitality!
- Phil (9/5): Superb -
- Murray (2/5): Very poor - Location and parking
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vincent (1/5): I didn’t stay there cause they didn’t have my booking and still proceeded to charge my card - I didn’t stay there cause they didn’t have my booking and still proceeded to charge my card I didn’t stay there cause they didn’t have my booking and still proceeded to charge my card
- Krizzel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (4/5): - Having stayed at Fairmont Pacific Rim, Fairmont Empress, and Fairmont Royal York, this new stay at Fairmont Winnipeg was very underwhelming for several reasons.
When compared to other Fairmont locations, this Gold experience lacked the excellent service expected, breakfast selection was poor, overall building was in need of renovations (Room’s ceiling had obvious water damage and paint was missing in some areas).
The Lounge restaurant in the hotel served butter chicken where the chicken was undercooked; raw.
The staff were friendly however did not seek to amaze their clients (When compared to Shangri-La). Would not recommend nor return in the future.
- Janusz (9/5): Superb -
- Kyle (5/5): Passable - Blood all over the bathroom and curtains
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Angel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carol (9/5): Excellent location. Great staff. Clean and updated hotel with top notch dining. - Great location in downtown Winnipeg. Very close to very good restaurants. Parking was reasonable at $14 per day.Cdn. Everything was clean and felt updated. In the bathroom, they were splashes of something on the glasses, and the makeup mirror had smeary fingerprints on it. It was something so obvious to me that I thought they should have noticed that when cleaning.
- Shae-lynn (4/5): I was expecting a lot more from the fairmont but was disappointed - The staff were extremely nice and welcoming. The views were amazing as well Everytime you called the hotel had to wait awhile till someone was available to answer. First room there was a plumbing issue, tub and toliet were not draining and the phone wasn’t working when we tried calling valet.
Had left for our dinner reservation and said we’d switch rooms when we got back. Got back and took about an hour to an hour am a half till we were able to switch rooms. Mind you it was about 10pm when we got back.
- Scenic36727332217 (6/5): New ownership needs to get started on renos! - What was once the 'nicest' hotel in Winnipeg has definitely lost more than a step.
This location is under new ownership (apparently) and needs to get started on the revamp - it has now become dated.
The fact that you can't get a bottle of water within blocks of the property after hours is ludicrous! It would cost the hotel next to nothing to offer this simple touch. No nightstand plugs for phones either - yes, I know, first world problems. Small details like having an empty dispenser for the shower gel/body wash just shows sheer negligence on the part of housekeeping. If someone showers above you, it's like a small seismic earthquake / very noticeable and pretty disruptive.
The temperature in the room was a significant annoyance with it blowing extremely hot or extremely cold air when maintained at 23C. The prices of room service are actually comical as well, with a pound of chicken wings priced at $48! There used to be a hot tub and there is only a pool and sauna now - not a huge deal.
It was convenient to walk to Hy's for dinner and not have to go outside and the overall service was prompt and professional. For the price, I'd stay at the ALT, Delta, or Inn at the Forks (for now).
- Ernest (8/5): Need more added amenities - Was looking forward to use the sauna but it was out of order. Otherwise very friendly and clean. A great location especially in the summer for what is near by. Would love to see a hot tub added.
- Park (1/5): Bad -
- Paul (10/5): Love the old school vibe & service with the modern amenities - Location Parking can be tricky at times
