Guest Reviews
- Figueira (10/5): -
- Susy (8/5): - Perfect spot to stop during a long trip to the north area. Found what we needed. Good heater.
- Deborah (5/5): - Location was very confusing, although caretaker sent a PIN for location (after arriving at an empty field via google MAP’s directions). Definitely a foot forward for communication would have been awesome but so would adequate research. Lol. If’n you know what I mean. 😊
- Paul (1/5): - Bed was comfortable Smelled like cigarette smoke, hairs in the sink and bathtub. Orange peels in a bag in the cupboard. Kitchen sink was gross.
- Gilbert (10/5): Very comfortable and clean room - Great place to stay
- John (7/5): -
- Pratik Reddy (9/5): -
- Georgina (7/5): - The staff always go above and beyond for the clients. The noise of the highway
- Pratik Reddy (9/5): -
- Pratik Reddy (9/5): -
- Wesolowski (7/5): - The smell of the cleaning supplies was very strong. Room had to be aired out when i arrived. After that, it was great.
- norman (7/5): It was good nice and warm - Need to have a dimmer light over the bed somewhere to hang your coat
- carolina (5/5): -
- Alex (10/5): -
- Steven (4/5): Could not sleep and ended up leaving by 2AM - 1-Even though I didn’t see any staff in person, it was easy to reach someone when needed.
2-Instructions for Wi-Fi and other amenities were clear and easy to follow.
3-Easy access to the room using a code, which is very convenient.
4-Surprisingly large fridge for a motel.
5-Clean towels were provided.
6-There was a microwave in the room, which I didn’t use but could be useful.
7-A backdoor that gives you access to sit in the back with a little private backyard space. 1-There was a strong smell of chlorine throughout the space, and my wife couldn’t take it due to her allergies.
2-The property is located next to a highway, so there’s a lot of noise. While that wasn’t a major issue for me, it became problematic on a hot night. Since there’s no air conditioning, I had to keep the window open, which amplified the noise. To make matters worse, another guest started smoking outside, and the smell filled my room.
3-The room I stayed in had a broken bathroom sink, causing water to spill.
4-The space was dusty, and my bed sheets had several brownish stains. However, I’m sure they were clean, but you don’t feel comfortable sleeping on them when you see stains.
*Ended up leaving by 2AM and booked another hotel in Barrie*
- Vishwakarma (8/5): -
- Peter (2/5): - Cinder-brick walls, spiders, noisy. TV spotty always freezing up. Wifi intermittent. Bathroom fixtures missing and loose. No K-cups for Kuireg. Inexpensive, but that is about it.
- Emilie (9/5): -
- mohammadreza (6/5): -
- Gerry (10/5): - Perfect for motorcycle day touring. Located in the center of many good back roads and small towns. Easy access to Hwy 11, north or south. Has a small kitchen with frig, toaster oven, microwave, and even a Keurig coffee maker. The door has a digital key pad, so no worry about losing keys. The room is clean and bright. The bed is especially comfortable, nice sheets and blanket. It's a quick 8 km trip to Orilla for any supplies or dinning. Excellent value, I will definitely be back next time.
- Madison (8/5): Decent Stay, Could Use a Deeper Clean - Room was mostly clean, save for some cobwebs and a dead fly in the bathroom. Would have loved to see it cleaned a bit more thoroughly but not bothered. Convenient location for traveling through on a work trip. I liked that I got a code to my phone to check in which made checking in later a breeeze.
- Anaika (2/5): - This inn should never have been on expedia. It is below a 1 star. The room had spider webs, bugs, a strong urine smell and had multiple broken elements. We felt unsafe and had to leave.
- LINDA (2/5): -
- Ron (8/5): - All I can say is about this property is this if you want to just pull off the road a few feet get a room go to sleep with ear plugs that they provide it's great but remember it's right off 11 it's noisy the room is mostly a place for you to have a bed the floor was clean has the bathroom floors need to be extra cleaned in my opinion the bed was good but remember this is not a Holiday Inn but if you're tired and you want a quick sleep but you need earplugs remember that.
- Craig (8/5): - Was a great place lay my head down for the night in my travels.
- Caitriona (3/5): Cigarette smell - Staff were friendly . place needs a good clean/spider webs everywhere and the room STANK of cigarettes, my husband is asthmatic and had an awful time trying to sleep here.
- Brent (10/5): -
- Lisa (6/5): - Bare bones, no extra blankets, tiny tub, good location
- Kyle (10/5): - Simple, close to hwy access, polite staff.
- Ken (7/5): -
- Dan (9/5): - Comfortable, high value, easy. A little small
- Jakob (7/5): -
- Steven (6/5): - Basic side of the road motel. Was fairly clean was food under the fridge that wasn’t swept up. A little more attention to detailed cleaning needed.
But all in all wasn’t bad. Good access to both sides of hwy11 minutes to Orillia.
- Doug (10/5): - The motel is in a convenient location. The rooms clean and tidy. The drive up parking and access to the rear green space was a bonus. Check I was easy with detail sent by email prior to our arrival.
This is a pet friendly motel which is why we picked it. The backyard is great but there was no sign of a garbage can outside. A dumpster on the property was completely filled. We did not see an employee at the time of this review. The small patios behind the units are weed filled and need attention. The motel is on Hwy 11 and you need to be a sound sleeper.
That said the property is being renovated and the efforts to update it is obvious. The minor concerns would not stop a return visit.
- Tom (9/5): Great place to put my head down while traveling for work - It’s simple and easy The bugs during the heat outside but that’s nothing to do with the property itself - I’d like to see maybe a bug zapper next time
- Lisa (8/5): - Small rooms, but very comfortable.
- Wayne (10/5): - Great place and staff
- Leslie (4/5): - The bedding and towels were clean. Bathtub and bathroom floor were dirty. Kitchen cabinets, floor boards were dirty. Fridge and kitchen sink were nice to have. Interior of fridge was clean. White lights in room were too bright. There was a lot of road noise from cars driving by.
- Pat (6/5): - For the price it wasn’t a bad place to stay for a few nights. Sure, there are better places but your paying for it. Comes with a big fridge, ice, cream, coffee, tea, microwave, sink. Comfortable bed, the tub in my room was like a 4 ft, not sure if other rooms had bigger tubs or not. I would come back but not in room 9 lol.. The fridge banging from the other room kept me up the first night, so the next day I just left before midnight. The owners were awesome and really helpful.
- Jessica (8/5): - Accessibility is easy. I’ve stayed twice in different rooms and both the same. Adjustable a/c and large cabinets/counter space is nice.
- William (7/5): -
- Janet (10/5): - The customer service was excellent. They fixed a problem with the air-conditioner instantly. The keyless entry system was convenient. All I needed was a code, unique to me and easy to remember, to unlock the door to my room. It was nice to have a Keurig in the room, although I did not try to use it. I did try to use the toaster oven and micro-wave. Neither worked, but since I did not need them, I didn't bring it to management's attention.
- Ashley (10/5): - This motel is second to none. The rooms are clean, crisp and comfortable and even offer a back door where guests can enjoy the view privately!
Check in /out is the most convenient and easy process! The owners/staff are kind, accommodating, helpful, friendly and offer a personalized experience! Thank you to everyone at HAPPYLAND INN!
- Melani (6/5): - Clean and updated... right on hwy, can hear the traffic all night.
Perfect place to stop and clean up before traveling again
- Kelly (1/5): Bad - I didn’t stay I had to leave. I was hoping to get my money back because spiderwebs were everywhere flies. It was so dirty I left. I didn’t like anything about it. I didn’t end up staying. I would like to get my money back for this one thank you.
- Jeremy (2/5): Very poor -
- Shannon (2/5): - Terrible. Just terrible
- Verified traveler (6/5): Better than expected considering other reviews - Good for the price. Some small touches that elevate this by a star, like full ice cube trays in the freezer (no on site machine) and ear plugs (as Hwy 11 is a bit noisy).
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheapest place but you get what you pay for. - Cheapest place to stay, has running water, fridge and microwave. Coffee maker but didn’t use since moldy pod growing inside. Sheets are laundered and so are towels. Stained but at least cleaned. Disorganized staff. Check out is at 11 but there will be knocks on the door at 9 eager to “clean” the room. Not too clean after they clean. Doors jam, place is in a little disrepair. But it’s better than sleeping in a tent.
- Paul (10/5): - This motel was nothing to look at out
- Rosanna (6/5): Budget Friendly for a Reason - This was definitely a budget friendly stay. The cleanliness was marginal. Our top sheet and washcloth had stains. The top sheet had very bad stains that looked like it may have been blood that never washed out. Seriously throw it out! We took it off the bed and tossed it one side. The mattress, however, was comfortable. The location is terrible. It’s not close to anything but a noisy highway. It is the first and last time we would ever stay at this place.
- Ninette (8/5): Happyland Inn - Happyland Inn was easy to check in and out of with a self service key pad. The room / space is big enough for a couple or with a small child. The bedding was crisp and clean, cable TV was easy to set up, although we were in town for The Psychedelic Furs at close by Casino Rama and didn't watch much.
Bathroom was clean and has a tub with shower. Microwave and nice size fridge.
Cons: there were a lot of Bees/flying insects on the back porch area and someone had left some food out there. Could use a bug zapper.
Other than that, a great budget friendly stay.
Thanks!
- Kristina (7/5): Great place to stay if your just exploring - It was nice, easy to find, it was in my price range The bathroom could have been a little more cleaner, but it was actually a really nice place to stay
- Kuo (1/5): Most Terrible in the last few years - Its literally beside high way. Nosiy and lousy. Room is dusty. I feel really sick after get in a while. This is definitely not worth and it shouldn't be over rated any higher than 5.0 overall.
- Sanjeev (10/5): - Happyland was a good affordable place to stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was always ready to help. I would definitely come here again and recommend Happyland as a good place to stay. Thank you to Happyland for a good stay.
- Sheila (2/5): - This place is rundown.
Lots of spiderwebs,spiders,insects,ants
Right off highway
Window is not very safe due to airconditioner
- Judy (6/5): - A little run down and a little noisy being right on the highway, but clean. Property manager was friendly, check-in and out were a breeze, plus having a little private patio out back was an added bonus.
- Susan (8/5): - I liked the full fridge the bathroom looked renovated recently bed was comfy TV was great the room for the price was better then expected the heater was dusty needed cleaning the windows need cleaning on outside the property itself isn't the best it's beside a uhaul place the host is amazing and attentive
- Veronica (6/5): - Their cleaning staff called in sick so the owners were rushed to get rooms cleaned and a number of things were missed. Also the smoke detectors battery was failing and it beeped all night
- Trish (2/5): - Drove in and drove out. Didn't even go in because of how bad it looked.
- Jessica (10/5): - Hotel was clean, check in was easy. Perfect spot if you just need a place to sleep.
- Pablo (10/5): - Really nice and clean!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not so happy - Door key pad would not work when we arrived and it was reset promptly which was great. Left room and went to lock door and key pad not working again. Called service and they sent someone with a key.
Windows difficult to shut, men’s whiskers in sink on arrival, toaster oven has greasy hand marks all over it, bathroom taps and mirror all water marked.
The shower didn’t work, the lever to make water go through shower head was seized.
Ants were crawling around under the table, no food was present.
Called staff to inform them, they said sorry!
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (2/5): - Loud, not very clean. Property was rated at 8 on search but should be very much lower. Kitctchen had water damage, bathroom had spiders. Our door was broken, and tv was not working. So the first hour of our stay was spent watching soneone fix the tv whike standing in our room, then fix the broken door.
- Valerie (10/5): - Everything you need. Loved that they had coffee cream in the fridge. Shower head is higher than most places, so great for tall people. Staff are very helpful and quick to respond. Patio in the back must be great in the summer.
- Jacob (2/5): - This was by far the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. I don’t know when they even cleaned it last. Finger prints all over the tables. The sheets were stained even the comforter on top had a giant stain on it. The shoe mat was dirty, the toilet had poo smears all over it. It looked like it was crackville where you would rent the room by the hour. If I wasn’t so tired, I would have just left but now I feel like I need a very long, very hot shower! Gross!
- Verified traveler (6/5): So loud, they give you earplugs - Very run down but reasonably clean. Much more run down than photos suggest. Absolutely no frills. One step above staying in a trailer. The toaster oven and microwave were convenient. Bring your own plates and cutlery.
If staying in winter, bring a blanket
Wifi so poor, we switched to cell data
This place is next to highway and is very loud. It explains why they left earplugs.
- Julie (8/5): - The outside of the building is a little bit run down so it looks kind of sketchy but it's really not
- Zoltan (10/5): - Very basic but clean and staff is very friendly!!!
- Jennifer (10/5): My husband and I really enjoyed our stay as it was quite comfortable and very easy to enjoy our time together, thank you - I liked how it was easy to find, had all the basic needs and was very comfortable. When I arrived and was entering my code for the door, the door pushed open. So that was alarming as I was alone at night, waiting for my husband to arrive. After looking through the room I noticed no one was inside so I then pushed the door tight, locked it and waited for my husband to arrive.
- Oladele (10/5): I enjoy my stay - Great and nice Nothing
- Emad (10/5): Along Highway 11 - It's hard to find if you don't know where you're going without the GPS because it's dark over there and there's no light on the streets very few
- Lien (10/5): - Dog friendliness and comfortable bed with great amenities for guests. Thoughtful tea and coffee for guests to use. I enjoyed my stay with this motel.
- Lucien (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lakshykumar (10/5): Exceptional - Nice one
- Adele (10/5): Bed was very comfortable, room was clean, check-in via text was a great surprise - Convenient location Double bed rather than a queen
- Melanie (10/5): - Very easy check in with digital codes for room . Also great communication with owners prior to arriving. Would definitely stay here again in the future.
Thanks
- Mike (10/5): - Honestly. For the price. It was excellent. Totally clean. Lots of towels. Coffee. Cream. Definitely will be returning. Great job. Thank u
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Zennia (6/5): - The bed was a bit hard and the TV wasn't working but the unit was clean and check in was very smooth. The little backyard was also nice & cute.
- Sheri (10/5): SLM locating a new home - Dog friendly
- Sax (10/5): Exceptional - Exactly as shown. Simple entry. Parking perfect. Clean.
- Babu (9/5): Superb -
- Hoi (6/5): Pleasant -
- Emily (3/5): Poor - Place is clean, but the noise is terrible which is very closed to a busy highway. However we stay at room 3 and a straight voice comes from the sink pipe is very annoying when I try to sleep.
- Zoe (4/5): You get what you pay for - The bed didn’t have bedbugs so that was good lol The bathroom door was literally too big to close. Couldn’t even force it closed. Had to use the washroom with it somewhat open.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trina (1/5): We didn’t stay. Took a loss, jumped for a last minute deal, and left. - Contactless entry. Cheap, outdated, unclean. Screen door was in tatters, there was a powdery substance on the bedspread, wires showing from uncovered electrical. Curtains not black out, dirty old cigarette filled Starbucks cup in back bbq area, fixtures need a major upgrade. Furniture is the cheapest of the cheap. Fridge had yellow substance in drawer. Dust & cobwebs (and spiders!) everywhere.
Owner contacted us after I told her our problems and we wouldn’t be staying (we got an updated, much cleaner room downtown for same price & did not stay the night); told us if we’d let her know the issues before we got another hotel, she’d had done something to correct the issues…. The only way she could have corrected it, was refunding. We were not staying. That wasn’t going to happen.
Why put us in a room like that to start?! Why not give us a clean room without issues upon check in?
No thanks. Took the loss as she didn’t refund our money and got a much nicer last minute deal for the SAME money.
Overall, total disappointment.
- Michael (4/5): Disappointing - Seemed new They charged me $20 per day for my dog. I would have liked to know that before I booked. Also the WiFi was very weak. Couldn’t zoom.
- Diane (8/5): I would stay again. - Didn’t have breakfast, but the bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. It was ea great room for bring a pet. The traffic is a bit loud.
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional - Good service and nice comfortable rooms, good area quite, recomet
- Tammy (7/5): Good -
- Aaron (2/5): Very poor - The room was very hot even with.a small air conditioner o could not cool the room down it was very uncomfortable. The place was clean the bed was uncomfortable The room could have been cooler especially because it was around 30 during the day.
- Wayne (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nicole (8/5): - Staff was very helpful when we had difficulty with the keypad. For the price it was fairly clean and had all we needed for a stop over. It was very noisy off the highway but they were considerate to provide earplugs. It was a positive experience for what we needed.
- Christine (10/5): - Motel room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Easy access and convenient location for our needs passing through. No need for front desk having the key coded door was handy as you could come whenever it suited you even in off hours. Back little patio was nice. Is close to the highway so the traffic noise is as expected
- David (6/5): Pretty good and pretty easy to get to. - Place little dated, not a great location, but our room was very clean, tidy and comfortable Location.
