Guest Reviews
- Darrell (8/5): - Nothing fancy but very clean and comfortable
- Terrance (10/5): - The room was in good condition. The service was very good and very friendly. the bed was comfortable.
and the towels were clean. the carpet in the room could use a cleaning, but
That was my only real issue. It was still quiet and like I said, great service.
- Kim (6/5): - The receptionist is nice, friendly. We had comfortable sleep. Very basic room, and amenities. I don’t think it’s a good price but maybe Terraces Bay is small town, they charged more. Pizza Hut express was not fresh. Overall, we just need a sleep overnight and that’s what we get.
- Judy (6/5): - The building's first impress is shabby. Add fresh paint, clean up the gardens, etc.
Room has been recently remodeled and was welcoming even though it was small.
- James (10/5): - It's very convenient from the highway.
- Robert (8/5): - Clean facility. Staff was very helpful. Quite pricey. No breakfast on site. They have a Pizza Hut on site but not open
- Helene (10/5): - Very comfortable bed. Front desk staff very helpful and polite
- Teresa (10/5): - The room was clean and had everything we needed, the staff was very helpful when we called to say we would be arriving late.
- Tammy (10/5): - Dated but very clean would most definitely stay again
- david (4/5): - Okay for one night stay
- Tania (6/5): - The beds were very comfortable! The decor is outdated but everything was clean.
- Alexander (10/5): - For a last minute booking it was great but the room itself was small and the bathroom could have been a little cleaner. We got in late and left early so we didn’t eat there but the staff we encountered were very helpful and courteous
- Peter (8/5): - Very easy access. Good parking.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It looks like the room curtains were nice but didn't come together in the middle of the window. With the windows facing the street and parking and people outside the window, it was hard to get ready for bed with the lights off! Then when in bed, the room was lite up with the signage from outside. Just a design flaw by the drapery person.
- Jodi (4/5): - The room’s climate control dial was broken. We could have the heat at full blast or air condition. Fan very noisy. The restaurant was closed. Property is in disrepair. Check in took almost 20 minutes as the manager was not on site and no one else could do a check in.
- Jermaine (6/5): - I wouldn’t stay there again, I’m sorry I’m just being honest.
- Raymonde (4/5): - Was okay
- Gary (6/5): - Noisy, bbq and music at your front door and no restaurent been closed for years.
Not recommending this one
- Kelly (10/5): - Old but well maintained, small clean quiet room - exactly what I wanted. Restaurant closed, but PizzaHut Express made good pizza. Pleasant polite staff
- Jayne (6/5): - Not impressed with the person who checked me in
- LAURIE (6/5): - Red Dog Inn is clean, quiet, and safe. The beds are reasonably comfortable and quality of sheets and towels is as expected at this price. The singke person on ataff was not easy to find and there appeared to be no staff at 7:30 AM when we departed.
The lack of breakfast and closure of the on site restaurant is a real negative. We walked to the restaurant next door but service there was very slow.
We will be reluctant to return
- Talia (10/5): - It was comfortable and clean!
- Lanna (6/5): - had to switch rooms because TV and coffee pot missing.
Told my room key would be left in a room and th front office would be closed.
Staff were friendly
- Theresa (6/5): - everything was ok, as expected for a northern town except there appeared to be no access after hours. staff locked the front door and left and in the morning the only way back inside if you went out was to prop open a side door which my key didn't open. Someone removed the doorstop and I couldn't get back into the building.
- Hannah (10/5): - Not a problem
- Tim (8/5): - V
- Tony (2/5): - Dont stay there
- Jody (6/5): - Our room was very clean. The beds were comfy, bed linens and towels were all clean.
The only two things that were a negative was that the bathtub/ shower, while clean, has definitely seen better days and could stand to be replaced. That and the room door that opened into the interior corridor didn't have a lock, just that security latch that all hotel room doors have. That was odd and left us feeling not totally comfortable.
- Jamie (6/5): - Staff could use some training to deal with the public. Clean rooms and worked for what we needed.
- Ben (8/5): Good for price - We were worried we may not get the room as the office closed before we could arrive and we wouldn't be able to access room. We were happy to find they had made arrangements for all late arrivals. They left instructions on the office door.
Room was good for the price. Never saw any employees.
- ingrid (8/5): - The room was tiny and bedding rather dates but everything seemed clean. AC was not too loud.
- Kate (8/5): - Very nice, as soon as we opened the door we could smell the cleaning products so it felt clean. Only negative was the pain or coating on the shower was chipped off in places. So thay seemed a little less than ideal, but rest was very new feeling and nice. Would stay again.
- Daniel (10/5): - Friendly staff
- Susan (8/5): - Fine for a 1 night stay. Typical motel furnishings. Beds were good.
Fan is same switch as light in bathroom and really loud. Fan for temperature is also loud.
- Brooke (8/5): - We had 6 people in 2 rooms for one night. The rooms clean, the beds were comfortable if small (full vs. queen), and the area is quiet. Breakfast was advertised to be in included, but there is no breakfast. We weren't told that the front desk isn't manned 24 hours and had no idea how to check out so we just left the key in the door knob. Overall it was fine for what we needed, but I would not stay here for more than 1 night again.
- Zdravko (10/5): - Clean rooms
- Parker (2/5): - Small Uncomfortable beds towel rack falling apart in the bathroom dirty floors bath tub had hair in it staff didn’t clean during the day while we were gone and drug addicts hanging around the back entrance wasn’t worth what we paid for and didn’t even stay the last night and wasn’t refunded any money
Not a very clean place
- Maitland (8/5): - Good
- geraldin (10/5): - Nice staff from the front desk, clean and quite. Over all everything waa nice, stay 1 night with my family, if we have a chance to go back to thunder bay this property is number 1 priority to check in.
- Henri (10/5): - Nice clean property
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not great but when I need to would stay again -
Broken AC so busy no alternative room although I booked in advance a month earlier
That said they did their best and brought me a mini fridge and a fan. The window opened with a screen that wasn’t damaged
They offered no consideration in the offer of a pop or discount or anything for the 2 nights no AC middle of summer
People were respectable and nice just had no options for me
Others turned away so full so at least my room was confirmed
Cleanliness, Floors carpet not clean with hair and debris ground in although not visible
The free EV charging a bonus
- Nicole (8/5): - Everything satisfactory.
- Scott (10/5): - Quiet place to stay
- Jeffrey (10/5): - The staff were very helpful. We got delayed a day due to the road being closed and we couldn't get there that night. They were very accommodating and got us in the following night. this is our second stay here and will definitely stay here again.
- John (10/5): - Rooms were very clean but a little small
- Robert (4/5): - Check in was terrible . Could not get anything to eat except to go across parking lot to hotel with restaurant
- Kevin (8/5): - Okay property for a quick overnight. Walking distance to a good restaurant.
- Anna (8/5): - Located beside the lighthouse. Nice neighbourhood. Close to park, recreation centre, skate park, arena and public pool. I really liked it. The room was comfortable. Enjoyed my stay. I’d go back. Lots of workers stay there too. Right off the hwy 17.
- Charlotte (10/5): - We were so impressed that we would not hesitate to share with other family and friends if this location while traveling.
- Ron (6/5): Don’t Stay Here! - Would not recommend staying here. Anyone walking by your room can see right inside day or night. Had to change in the bathroom.
- C (6/5): Budget accommodation (good) needs a little TLC. - Good clean budget accommodation. Rooms should have black out blinds. AC also blows the thin curtain around not providing much privacy in the rooms. Finish on bath tub was peeling.
- Noel (6/5): - Good room spoiled by fluorescent light In bathroom that was not working properly and very noisy fan.
- Ann (8/5): - If your website states that you have hairdryers, they should be readily available.
The refrigerator does not have a freezer section. Travellers often have ice packs that need to be refrozen.
Liked the indoor corridor.
- neal (6/5): - Stayed in an end unit facing the hwy. Noise from traffic, noise from the doorway to the interior hallway. Room was clean. Finish was peeling off the tub wall and floor. Could use some maintenance.
- Mark (8/5): - Very easy check in
- william (8/5): - Restaurant was closed, but motel next door had a restaurant.
- Matt (6/5): - Good place to stop for the night
- S (10/5): - Clean and cozy place. Supportive customer service. Good location.
- Dennis (4/5): - The room smelled. No hair dryer. Lacked electrical outlets. Many items unplugged because there weren't enough outlets. The property is just run down.
- Ivan (6/5): - Hardly any outlets
- Gordon (8/5): - Very friendly service
- Roger (8/5): - It was a typical small town motel. Cheap and good enough.
- james (6/5): - Simple place, close to stores and brewery.
- Paul (4/5): - Staff unfriendly No coffee
- Lynn (6/5): - There was no dining or anywhere to get a drink. Room was "ok". No hairdryer or iron, limited soap. No staff at front when we checked out the gate was across and it was closed till 9am?
- Andrew B (4/5): - There are precious few motels in Terrace Bay; same for good eating places. It's a tired little town on Lake Superior. The motel claimed it was renovated, but it much have been 20 or more years ago. I would bypass Terrace Bay next time driving east and make for Wawa, Ontario. The room was clean-ish, and definitely very dated.
- Janice (10/5): - The Red Dog Inn provides basic accommodation for travellers. It isn’t fancy and isn’t meant to be. The rooms were basic but clean. The beds and pillows were comfy and clean. It was just what we needed on our cross country road trip at a reasonable price. I’d stay again.
- Joan (6/5): - Wasn’t the best
- Verified traveler (6/5): Short overnight stay along the TransCanada Hwy - After hours check in ( I had made reservation and paid online), there was a sign with my name on the office door telling me which room and keys were in the door. A bit weird but it worked. Instructed to leave keys in room for check out. No hair dryer. Shampoo teeny tiny no conditioner. Bed and linens very comfortable. Great for quick sleep overnight.
- Dinah (10/5): - Quite and the surroundings is great
- Myrna (10/5): - Comfortable beds for a great sleep!
- BOHAN (10/5): - Good place to stay
- Gaetan (6/5): - Understanding that significant snowfall is a reality in this community, the snow-removal maintenance was still sub-par. I couldn’t comfortably (safely?) navigate to my room from the outer entrance. The wi-fi signal strength was severely diminished in my room: I had to hotspot my computer with my phone to get work done.
- Kristina (6/5): - Safe
- Don (8/5): - Decent Room with the exception of the broken bathroom fan cover, the dislodged tissue box cover and the cracked window pane.
- Sukhvir singh (10/5): - Easy access. Staff is good and helpful
- Chris (10/5): - Highly recommend
- Gordon (10/5): Equipment Sourcing - Good hotel for small market
- John (6/5): - Everything was old & needed renovating.
- Yves (2/5): - Never returned my urgent message…called statin after 15min that I had reserved that we had a vehicle problem in NorthBay…We not at all rembourse stating its Expedias fault and problem and hung up on me.
I declared the transaction as fraud and not legal
- Jane (4/5): Price-value ratio very distorted - The walls were paper thin and the hotel in slight disrepair. The value was nowhere near the price paid. The Internet was too unreliable to use
- tracy (10/5): - Clean and comfortable motel room. Not run down like most roadside motels. Would stay again.
- Mark (8/5): - It was a decent place for the $
- Patricia (6/5): - The restaurant is no longer in operation even though the signs are still outside.
Older motel in need of updating. The laminate is peeling off the countertop in the bathroom.
- Ketan (8/5): - Receptionist not very friendly. When I asked for extra towels. She seemed like mad on me and note down on reservation documents that I got 3 extra towels. And she mentioned not to taken with you. I was surprised. Any missing towels they charge $20. This is the first time kind of experienced i have with motel industry.
- Victor (2/5): Over priced - Over priced room. Molding falling off in bathroom. Had to unplug fridge to use microwave. Hotels.com said we got the last room whick i paid $300 for, only to find out they still had rooms left for much cheaper. No one at front desk after 10pm and everything locked. Nothing to eat in surrounding area after 10.
- Lauren (8/5): - As we were just passing through, this hotel fit the bill. Right on the highway, nice staff, clean room, and good wifi. Restaurants are nearby. We’d stay here again.
- Mark (10/5): Clean, comfortable room - I always stay here when travelling west. Friendly staff, always clean. Nothing fancy but meets my needs.
- Jim (8/5): - Ok
- Ricky (6/5): - Property needs updating. Front desk not very friendly.
- Sharese (6/5): - It was clean, just needed a place to sleep
- Edward (8/5): - Accessible, convenient
- Aiden (10/5): - It was very clean and perfect for our stay while travelling through
- Ben (6/5): - No restaurant as advertised. No view. Other than clean linens, this is as basic as a motel can get.
- Cheryl (4/5): - Uncomfortable beds, thin small towels. No dining nearby, no breakfast.
- Victoria (10/5): - The staff were wonderful and very helpful eapecially when my husband accidentally locked ourselves out!!
The rooms were very clean and comfortable! I would highly recommend especially to anyone who is travel through! They were also very affordable 😊
- Peter (10/5): - Clean and comfortable room with friendly service staff.
- Pam (8/5): - Stayed one night on a road trip. I must say it was extremely clean....even the carpet in the room. I felt safe walking bare feet in the room. I love how quite it was. I stayed on the upper level. Tho, the entrance wasn't clear to find.
My only negative comment, is that I booked a queen size bed and I got a double instead.
- Debra (8/5): Nice room would be wonderful after bathroom issues - The room was lovely and clean. However, the bath was peeling. There was no grab rail to use in the bath and the ledges were very slippery when in the bath. Otherwise very nice
- Wade (8/5): - It was very clean and comfortable. What else can you ask for when on a cross country road trip.
