Guest Reviews

- Lily (8/5): - The location was incredible and Barrie the camper was clean and cosy with everything you needed. The view out the window was just amazing! The road down to the location was pretty gnarly with the gravel/potholes, but totally worth it!
- Corrina (10/5): - This is an amazing property. Peaceful, well taken care of. Pristine. The views of the beach right from your campsite are amazing. We saw a whale and many bears right from the beach. Would absolutely recommend

- Barbara (9/5): -
- Tanya (8/5): Natural stay at its best. - Fantastic spot! Beautiful views. Even saw bears on the beach and a bald eagle! The peace and quiet wonderful. The hosts really go out of their way to provide everything that is needed. The smell in de trailer Ben was extremely musty (mildew?) which was overbearing even when sleeping. The bedding for the couch (sleeping bag) kept slipping of the sheets. Maybe better to provide a duvet or blankets.
- Diana (8/5): Very good -
- Ramona (9/5): Worth the (beautiful, but LONG) drive from the ferry ports, if you plan to stay at least three days - We chose to stay in one of the camper trailers located at one end of the beach front and nearest the double bathrooms, since we expected to get up at night). Especially the camper kitchen was exceptionally well-supplied (with cooking utensils and basic supplies like coffee, oil, condiments, etc.). We were pleased to find the cooking gas, generator-operated heating, and battery lighting quite sufficient for our needs but were still glad we had brought food and wouldn't have had to leave for several days for supplies. We most appreciated the exceptional quiet and privacy as well as internal convenience of the accommodation, as well as its location immediately adjacent to the (rocky) beach of a Pacific cove. We would like to go again sometime, and perhaps stay in one of the Safari tents (especially in warmer weather than we found in June, as the outdoor kitchens and perhaps less efficient heating in the larger tents might be less comfortable in the damp and chill we experienced). But if we were able to return, we'd definitely plan to stay at least 3 nights, preferably 4 or 5. The prospective wild- and sea life viewing, which we missed, and exploring around a bit could keep us sufficiently engaged for that period, we think, along with relaxing reading or family games if we were with others. And probably also star-gazing, which we also sadly missed! We were really sorry that we'd scheduled only 2 nights in the facility, driving a rental car from Victoria on a Wed. and planning to return on the Fri. Those 36 hours would've proven too short and even rather harried, given the time needed for the drive: Google Maps suggests 4.5 hours for the less than 300 klm/200 mi drive thru mountains, but we in fact we needed 6 hours PLUS (on the shorter of 2 routes), with no traffic problems and only 3 short stops. And that was before we came to the last 8 kilometers (unpaved road, which had been well-explained in advance): that alone took us about 1/2 hour to traverse carefully. The stay's biggest issue for us was that on our planned 1-full-day in camp, it rained steadily all morning and into the afternoon. We were OK with the chilly and gray weather (were in fact cozy in our camper), but quite worried about being able to get back to Victoria next day on slick mountain roads before our rental car was due back and our bus-ferry service (with pre-purchased tickets) left for Vancouver. Especially the prospect of driving the first unpaved leg of rain-soaked road very early next morning (after doing everything necessary before leaving) was sufficiently daunting that we packed up in the rain and left late that afternoon, to be able to navigate the most challenging stretch in good daylight (if still in the rain--luckily the road had NOT become at all impassable, but it still took us ca 40 min. to cover the 8 kil/5 mi with caution for the car as well as ourselves). We were able to get a basic hotel room for a good price in Port Alberni and drive the balance of the distance (about 4 hours for us, with 1 stop, rather than the just under 3 hrs suggested by Google maps).
- Christine (10/5): Fantastic, comfortable, right in nature. - Being right on the ocean/beach. Seeing seals, bears, and eagles.
- Renee (10/5): Amazing adventure to a beautiful paradise ❤️ - Loved the cozy trailer, warm welcome and all the goodies stocked since we missed some of ours lol The road to the glampground was rough driving. We were pre warned though, which was nice
- Maddalena (10/5): Perfect remote luxury camping - Perfect remote place to stay a few days or longer. It's clean, comfortable and right at the beach. The outdoor kitchen has everything you need incl. a bear safe cooler. No running water or electricity but everything is provided, also a full power bank. The tents are luxurious and even have a wood stove to heat it up when it's cold and windy outside (and it gets quite warm quickly). Wonderful place to sit at the water, drink a cool beer and watch wildlife. We saw bears, otter & eagles.
- Brooklyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay at so damn lucky! They really tho if he of everything you would need so the process was easy and it made it a lot more fun for us. We will be back!
- Andrea (10/5): Beautiful spot and lovely owners - Great time on the beach! Really nice touch with supplying extra condiments, coffee, spices, oil No power, little challenging to charge our devices… but we were camping…so who cares
- Junya (10/5): First glamping experience and we like it - This is our first glamping experience. The owners are very thoughtful and nice. They do care about the environment and try the best to make customers feel comfortable and happy. There is no power supply but you will find power bank to charge your phone. The toilet is outhouse but is not a big problem for us. The shower water is warm and good. Kitchen has everything you just need to bring food. Phone reception is fine. Ocean is few steps away, you can hear the waves in the quiet night and have a good sleep. None
- Joana (10/5): amazing coastal hideaway - The beach and the tide pools were incredible! Location is very quiet and pristine. The trailer was in excellent conditions, had everything we needed and more. We hope to be back soon!
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jemma (2/5): Very poor -
- George (8/5): So damn lucky went glamping - Everything was as advertised. The road in.
- Anneliek (10/5): Perfect spot with bearview - Perfect location, bearview -
- Tracy (10/5): - So damn lucky was absolutely gorgeous! Danielle and Mark were so friendly and pleasant to talk to. I will be going back. Great place to relax and enjoy the view!
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - The kitchen was exceptionally equipped and clean. Perfect for a first-time glamping experience! The bathrooms and showers were spotless, and I liked their concern about protecting nature.
- Tammie (8/5): The hosts were wonderful. Very helpful and welcoming - Lovely location Hard to get to. Long way back to Ucluelet
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - It was our first Glamping experience, and everything was perfect. Every detail made us feel at home.
- Grigoriadis (9/5): Superb -
- Torrie (10/5): - Great place to stay if you like to be unplugged! There beach combing, a cave and super cute accommodations! Extremely clean and very friendly owners
- Susan (8/5): It is an incredible retreat location. - The feeling of being away from it all without the logistical issues of getting away from it all. The owners were very responsive to requests, and the camp was set up well. The ability to unplug from the outside world was rejuvenating. Outhouse needs a hook and/or shelf to set down whatever you are carrying.
- Kelli (10/5): Best getaway for peace and tranquility - I had a fabulous time, this place is beautiful and very well organized, clean and friendly folks that run this place. Highly recommend
- Tobias (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stay. 3 data was even to short.
We had a Lot of rain. But still with the rain it was so Nice. Heating with a woodstove and everythink was very clean.
Is is camping off the grid. So no electricity and no wifi. But that was exactly what we liked.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional - Very well equipped camping site with lovely owner.
Please be aware that this place is around 20 minutes from the main road.
A little nice adventure.
It’s perfect to calm down from busy city life.
A mobile connection works perfectly.
- Raymond (10/5): - We just finished our first time at So Damn Lucky Glamping and can't wait to book again. Perfect secluded getaway for a couple looking to disconnect. Can't recommend enough!!
- Christine (7/5): Good -
- Darren (10/5): Amazing beachfront luxury tent in remote location. wonderful staff! - Unique experience
- Alanna (10/5): Our First Trip Together - We LOVED staying here and only wished we could have stayed longer!
Danielle and Mark are great hosts and welcomed us with open arms. However, they're respectful in giving you your own space.
Our trailer had a beautiful view with a short little stroll down to the rocks to watch the sunset whilst eating breakfast.
The camper has everything you could need but just be sure to stock up on food and bring additional water as this is limited on site!
The shared toilet and shower facilities were very clean and more importantly smelt nice (for a pit toilet!!!).
We can't wait to go back! There is not much to not like here! I would recommend if possible drive a 4x4 or a higher car as the road up is long and very bumpy but we didn't mind at all.
- Jörg (2/5): Definitely no GLamping - The host we met on the site was friendly and showed us the trailer.
The location near a remote beach was nice for guests seeking loneliness. My rating is based on a two-night stay in September, in „Ben‘s cozy trailer“, which we had booked and which we voluntarily ended early and were happy to leave after one night only.
Having arrived at the site after a long, bumpy ride (30 minutes for the last 8 km) our first impression was not quite uplifting: We saw a neighboring untidy scrapyard with old construction machinery rusting away and overgrown with plants - not part of the campground, but not clearly separated either.
This glamping accommodation offered no running water, no 110 V electricity (e.g. to charge appliances that can‘t be charged via USB). The „cozy trailer“ that we stayed in was clean, ok, but rather shabby. The shared toilets had no flushing and were built over a pit, colloquially referred to in German as „Plumpsklo“. Shared showers were available in a shower house, some 100 m away…
We have never experienced such a discrepancy between the description and the pictures posted on booking.com on the one hand and the reality that we had on site on the other. The flattering pictures we found on booking.com pretended an imaginary luxury. Our trailer had been photographed with wide angle, feigning spaciousness.
Declaring this as GLamping is really misleading. The readers of this rating may call it whatever they want. If one’s booking decision is based on, or at least influenced by, the pictures you can find online, you will be very surprised. The only glamorous thing about it was the price.
- Sandri (10/5): - The facilty is excellent in every way. The operators were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The only downside is the 8km of very rugged dirtroad to get to the facility. Average speed about 15-20km/h and that was still pushing the comfort level in driving on the road. But we'll still go again -- just to enjoy the safari tents the next time.
- Nancy (10/5): An ideal spot to relax and enjoy nature. - The location is 💯 worth the drive.
- Copeland (10/5): Amazing - Remoteness
Cleanliness
Comfort!!! Nothing!
- Sarah (9/5): brilliant and cute - it was a lovely remote location. had all of the amenities needed and was exactly what we needed to get away. the family who run the place are awesome and friendly the trailer had quite a funny smell to it the whole time, we noticed it when we first arrived, which took a while to get used to and the roads to get there can be quite tricky but other than that it was fab
- Suzanne (10/5): Superb in a word! - We stayed in Yogi which was well-equipped and right next to the incredible beach. Owners Mark, Danielle and Jenna were lovely and extremely helpful. Nothing!
- We (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benoit (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was absolutely amazing ! If you want to be connected with nature, it is really resourceful and calm. Not the best beach to swim, but you can swim anywhere else !
Special mention to the host Mark & Danielle, really kind and accommodating. We are gonna comme back for sure !
- Rafael (10/5): extraordinary adventure that blended luxury and the raw beauty of nature seamlessly - Accommodations:
The accommodations at So Damn Lucky Glamping were beyond my expectations. The glamping site offered a variety of super comfortable options, including cozy and stylishly designed tents equipped with all the amenities one could desire. Inside, I found a well-equipped grill and camping stove, allowing for easy cooking of delicious meals while immersed in nature's wonders. As the sun set, I was delighted to find a wood heater, providing warmth and an intimate ambiance that truly elevated the glamping experience. The comfortable beds ensured restful nights, lulling me to sleep with the gentle sounds of the waves crashing just steps away.
Location:
Perched on a private beach on Mussel Beach, So Damn Lucky Glamping boasted breathtaking views of the rugged coastline and the sparkling Pacific Ocean. The sheer seclusion of the location offered a sense of serenity and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The surrounding natural beauty provided a stunning backdrop for every moment spent at the glamping site.
Amenities:
The glamping site left no stone unturned when it came to providing convenience and comfort. The availability of hot water for showers was a pleasant surprise, allowing me to refresh after a day of beachcombing and exploring. The thoughtful provision of such facilities further exemplified the attention to detail that So Damn Lucky Glamping offered its guests.
Activities:
The allure of the private beach was irresistible, and I found myself spending hours walking along the shoreline, admiring the vibrant marine life and stunning rock formations. The unique tidal patterns revealed a sandy oasis during low tide, perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the tranquility of this hidden gem. The blend of serene solitude and recreational opportunities made every moment spent on the beach truly memorable. Road Access:
While the journey to So Damn Lucky Glamping involved an 8 km drive along a dusty road, the path was well-signed, ensuring a stress-free and straightforward arrival. The remote location was a testament to the exclusivity of the glamping experience, and the road access added to the sense of adventure without the worry of getting lost.
- James (10/5): Quintessential Vancouver Island, 10/10 - This stay / area was quintessential Vancouver Island and just would not have been possible if it was not for this gorgeous glamping community that Danielle and Mark have put together! Stunning location, lovely private chill areas outside overlooking the beach, very thoughtful layout both inside and out, and super comfy interior / beds with lots of amenities. Lovely hosts, they were clearly very happy to share their gem with people and genuinely wanted us to have the best time. Perfect for a couple, just wish we could've stayed longer than 2 nights! The toilets weren't the best, but not the worst either. Not a bad price to pay given everything else!
- Abigail (9/5): Superb - Everything was super clean. Staff was helpful.
