Guest Reviews
- Donette (8/5): - Property was good. Parking was a bit pricey. Convenient walking distance to Rideau mall, parliament, etc.
- Lena (10/5): - Overall, the room was excellent - very clean and spacious for 2 beds. Lots of choices for breakfast. The check in and check out process needs improvement since it is only handled by 1 person at a desk, and you have to wait in line which can waste a lot of time. The area was walkable with lots of food choices around. The street is busy so it can be noisy at night. Parking is horrible. The garage beside this residence was under construction and poorly lit and never had parking spots available. Finding parking was a challenge every night of our stay until we found a garage around the corner at another hotel.
For the cost per night, this is an excellent choice!
- Maurice (8/5): - The convenient access yo downtown Ottawa and surrounding areas.
- frank (6/5): - Very quiet with old furniture
- Darlene (8/5): - Shower was way too short for my son. Not enough pillows and blanket was super thin
- YuBiao (10/5): - Good
- Suzanne (10/5): - Great value
- Rosina (10/5): - it was a great and affordable place, though not fancy
- Dong Hwa (6/5): - While the fees were reasonable and the condition was generally good, the towels were not clean and had an unpleasant odor.
- Paul (8/5): - The property is centrally located and very walkable to may sites of interest. Good restaurant options within walking distance as well. Staff was helpful and patient.
- Keri (10/5): - Everything was close by, so it was very convenient! Definitely great if you are walking! The parking was a bit tough as we’d figured we could park on campus lot, but it’s for pass holders from 7am-3pm. We found a place close by though.
Staff was awesome! Lots of space & great rooms! Amenities were great. They gave us extra things like blankets & toilet paper. Loved it! Felt safe! Thank you! I’d def stay again!
- Ryan (8/5): Great Location, Tricky to Find - Basic, no-frills accommodation near the Byward Market. With all the construction happening nearby, it was tricky to get to, but the campus is lovely. We thought the kitchen would have more than à microwave and fridge as the email said we needed to bring our own cooking utensils and pots (which we did), so we were a little disappointed to find no hot plate or hob.
- Chantelle (6/5): - It was very convenient, a few minutes walk to the university building we were going to. I was very thankful for the easy parking lot right outside of the residence. Full sized fridge with freezer was great. I realize it is residence, well used, but I thought the price was high for the condition of the rooms; in comparison to some nice hotels I stayed in recently, only about $20-30 more for higher end. Each of the 2 rooms was supposed to have a smart tv but 1 room had an old tv with nothing on it. The tv in the other room was Roku with lots to watch so I had to invade the other guest’s room. Not the end of the world, just not what we expected with the info we had. We also received a notification that Rogers was going into all the rooms one day whether you answered your door or not between 10-6. I didn’t love the idea of someone coming in while I was away but assumed they would be escorted by university staff. I happened to be there when they showed up, he was less than a minute but the Rogers employee was alone, unescorted. They only offer room cleaning every 3 days and I believe you have to request it as there is no do not disturb doorknob hanger which was fine as I prefer my privacy and I clean up after myself. The beds are a little sad looking but surprisingly comfortable. Great option if you get a good deal and aren’t particular about aesthetics.
- Sue (8/5): - University residence. Units are perfect for aafaniky. Shame our bike was stolen. We like having access to full kitchen. Beds not great.
- Tina (4/5): Minimalist Travel - The best aspect of this stay is its convenient location downtown—easy walking distance to By-ward market, the Capital buildings & galleries. The room wasn’t serviced once in our four-night stay. Not at all comfortable—the towels, blankets, mattresses & pillows were very low quality.
- Ferruccio (8/5): - It was what I expected nothing fancy but functional our group enjoyed their stay
- Lee Yee (10/5): - It was a super comfortable stay. The accommodation is spacious and the location is pristine. Without paying top tier prices, you can’t find a better location. I’d stay in UOttawa Residence again.
- JIE (10/5): - Goo
- diane (8/5): - It was a convenient location for my daughters camp
- Kim (10/5): - Very nice and clean rooms and super kind staff. I felt so lucky to find this place. Highly recommend.
- Anastasia (8/5): - The layout worked well for my trip with two teenagers as you get two rooms with private bathroom and kitchenette that had microwave and fridge. The location is great as it is a walking distance to the market, grocery store, and parliament. It is a residence for students so beds are very simple, there are no services, and no dining facilities in the building but you would expect that based on this type of accommodation.
- Jade (6/5): - Close to downtown core everything was walkable, parking was not included and has a daily rate of almost $20.
We forgot items in the room, they claimed they had a lost and found but we couldn’t go through it ourselves to make sure it’s the right items. Went back two days in a row to look for items, they simply said they didn’t have it even though it was the only location we stayed at and the items weren’t in our bags. One person tried to help, the other didn’t even bother helping.
- Virginia (8/5): - Parking
- Patrick (10/5): - Booked for 3 people for 2 nights begining of August 2025.
Check-in was easy and fast. Front desk staff were very kind and friendly.
Room was very clean, with a little kitchen with a fridge and a microwave. No ustensils, it was mentioned in our booking no kitchen amenities, bring your own. Double bed was ok, hot water and water pressure was perfect.
Within walk-in distance to Parliament Hill, around 15 mins walk. Close to mall , not too many options of restaurants close to the location but there's a lot within 5 to 10 mins walk. Parking CAD$17.50 per day, can come and go whenever you want.
This is not a 5 stars hotel but very good for the price. I would definitely stay there if I'm in Ottawa again.
- yoseph (10/5): - Very clean and quite
- Caroline (6/5): - La cuisine était très sale et peu équipé donc pas utilisé.
Et les machines a laver payant pas mentionné dans l'annonce
Sinon accueil parfait et emplacement parfait
- Laurie (8/5): - Check-in was late at 4pm. Nice rooms, clean and convenient for a family. Good location. Paid parking available.
- Meghan (6/5): - It is as you might expect for a college dorm. The tap dripped, the mattresses were saggy. It was clean. The price was very reasonable and the location was walkable to the city’s attractions.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Bed too soft, wifi signal too weak, but walking distance to all must seen places, very good location 👍👍👍👍👍
- KHRISTINE (10/5): - Excellent
- alexia (10/5): - Property is in walking distance to Parliament Hill, By Ward market and other attractions.
If parking could be included it would be really nice. Otherwise the stay was very good. Check in and check out were very easy.
- Abul Hasnat (8/5): - Ok
- Jason (6/5): - Everything was fine here except the beds. They are not made for two adults. Don't expect to sleep well here with a partner.
- Chris (10/5): Hotel accommodation in Ottawa... - My stay was pleasant, convenient, accessible, clean, comfortable, and offered afforability. Highly recommend this hotel accommodation.
- Yiling (10/5): - Located at University of Ottawa & a walk distance to must-see attractions in the old town. Room was clean and Beds were quite comfortable. a budgetwise place to stay to have a capital city tour.
- LJ (8/5): - Good
- Fang (10/5): - Everything is perfect.
- Adam (8/5): - fun
- jwei (10/5): - 还行
- Kristine (10/5): - Great space and clean accommodations. Great price.
- Casey (10/5): - A great place to stay for a weekend. Conveniently downtown, clean, and modern units. Air-conditioning, televisions, and a full-size fridge. Friendly staff as well.
- Lukman (6/5): Need new bed. - The mattresses need to be replaced with the new one. Very uncomfortable. We can feel the spring and bend in the middle. We couldn’t sleep well.
- Shaun (6/5): - Simple rooms with a microwave, good size fridge and freezer, and lots of space. Wifi and TV's with Roku are appreciated. Bring anything else you need. It seems there's access to a communal kitchen on the main floor, but you'll have to bring everything you need with you (pots/pans, cutting board, etc.).
Bathrooms and beds remind you that this is a dorm. Sprung bed frames for comfort. True double size beds (not queens). Both mattresses were thinner, but one bed had coil springs and the other had memory foam... huge difference! Apart from the bar soap, it's best to bring your own showering supplies.
Summertime and little use can make the hallways and rooms smell off. Use the room cooling/heat controls to help or bring a room freshener.
15 minute walk to the heart of Ottawa. Stayed here due to parking availability (flat rate of $17.50 to next day (11am) as of July 2025) and security of a campus. Other nearby hotels have reviews with concerns of people unhoused/homeless around. Not a concern during our visit as people were generally doing their own thing so perhaps this is blown out of proportion (?).
Laundry is $10 for 24 hours of access. Dorms are where it's at as it's like being at a laundromat... so quick to get 4 loads done!
- Joyce Shek Yin (8/5): - Good and friendly staff
- Shirley (8/5): - the front desk staffs are very nice and helpful and buses hub are located just down the street.
- Osvaldo (10/5): - Great locatio
- Ye (10/5): - Price is reasonable.
- Liberty (10/5): - Great location- walking distance to places of interest.
- Diane (8/5): - No coffee machine. The lobby coffee machine was empty. The mattress in one room was sinking.
- Park (10/5): - Good and safe but wifi is not working
- Corey (6/5): - We found the beds very firm. The area was close to many of the sites we wanted to visit, which was nice. We took advantage of the laundry facilities that were available for an additional fee. That was helpful.
- Gurdit (6/5): - For the price it’s a great place. Rooms are alright. Parking is paid. But everything you may need is in walkable distance. Staff is nice.
- Oleksandr (2/5): - The place is for having sleeping place only and if you don’t have other options!
- Nelson (10/5): - Food was great in the area but the mattress at the dorm were not great. We will definitely stay there again in the future location was great 15min walk to down town area.
- Jawad (8/5): Reasonalble price! - Price was very reasonale and afordable.
- Yu (8/5): - Good value for the price. A little difficault to find the hotel building on campus as the GPS lead us to a research building first.
- Gretchen (10/5): - We had a great time and the room was clean.
- Kim (10/5): U90 Accomodations - Great service and excellent location
Clean
Beds a little uncomfortable
- Anushay (6/5): - Check in was easy the staff was super sweet. However, the bed sheet had a stain or two on it , the water in the room stopped working at night and was only giving out hot water (the droplets that I was getting) the conditioner bottle I had was already used by someone else.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Clean and quiet! Location is great too!
- Sivanathan (10/5): - The bed was a little hard to sleep but no worries I enjoyed the stay overall, so this is just a suggestion! thanks for the service!
- Thy (8/5): - It is excellent if they have a cafeteria for breakfast and dinner.
- Xiaoyuan (8/5): - The room is quite spacious.
- Margareta (8/5): - Check in is at 4pm. The room was great. Beds were soft. Everything was clean and met our basic needs. Parking was easy and a great price. Excellent location. I recommend this for anyone who doesn’t need anything fancy and wants to be close to downtown.
- Donna (8/5): - Very efficient stay and relatively inexpensive
- Bruce (10/5): - Good cheap option during the summer. Clean, convenient, and quiet
- Manas (10/5): - Not going into detail we all loved this place as a family tourist.
- KEVIN (8/5): - Nice place to stay. Everything was within walking distance
- Muhammad (8/5): - Great for the price it’s listed at.
- Jose (8/5): - It is a simple but comfortable apartment with 2 bedrooms ( we asked for 2 beds). Good sized bathroom and a simple kitchen with fridge, sink, microwave, table, and chairs. It is like the photos on the website. We liked very much.
- Nathalie (4/5): - Not clean and not well-maintained.
The light close to the bed was not working.
Bed sheets are so thin that you can see the pattern of the mattress. (No mattress protector between the sheets and the mattress.) Towels are old and thin—no
bed cover.
Not expensive, but not worth it anyway.
- Trang (10/5): - Great place to stay as you can walk to most attractions easily. The train station is also on campus nearby. Pay for parking insides the building (there is a machine - you can ask the staff), which gives you a slightly better rate/ time than the online option outsides!
- Ken (10/5): - Nice neighbourhood.
- Sherell (8/5): - It was what you would expect a dorm to look like.
Make sure you bring utensil, plates, etc. staff have nothing
- Nancy (10/5): - Easy. Quiet.
- Al-Karim (4/5): - Beds are foam, walls are concrete, kitchenette leaves much to be desired, and there is no in room coffee maker.
There were no channels available on the tv. Reception did not know why, but when we left the property after checking out, saw an army of Rogers vans there to install cable boxes.
The residence costs about the same as hotels, but the rooms do not measure up to a hotel.
- Jason (10/5): - All good
- Patrick (8/5): - Location was excellent and the suite was a great value. However the bed was awful, especially shared by two people. The mattress was concave inward, so you would roll/slide to the centre from the sides. On our last morning we discovered that the metal bed frame underneath was severely curved/bent inward.
- Daniela (10/5): - Good value, great location
- Robert (6/5): - Very central and close to Parliament Hill. Staff were very friendly, rooms were clean, shower was decent, and great ac in rooms, but the beds were awful.
My cell phone would slide to middle of bed when laying on it. Very difficult to get a decent sleep on those beds.
- Carine (10/5): - Good price
- Maria Lina (6/5): - Kind staff
- Ovidiu (8/5): - Ok
- Chakri (10/5): - Value for money!
- Rob (8/5): - Convenient location next to transit. Was as expected.
- JOVANY (10/5): - Good!
- Santanu (8/5): - Spacious and secure
- Nancy (10/5): - We had a pleasant stay, the room is exactly as advertised.
- Claudio (8/5): - No comment
- Bernadine (10/5): - Great location, could walk everywhere downtown, very clean, helpful staff, good price.
- Hannah (8/5): - Very good value.
- Jane (10/5): - A small issue with the locking of my door. It's timed to lock automatically after about 30 to 45 seconds. It was inconsistent, sometimes taking several attempts to get it right. This is annoying when you're trying to leave to get somewhere at a particular time and you spend time waiting for it to lock.
Relatively minor issue when everything else was great.
- Syed Muneef (6/5): - There was no stove, and there was no water in morning
- Karen (10/5): - Stayed to partake in Canada Day celebrations. Great place to stay and I will be back. I live in Nova Scotia. Such a great idea.
- Ahalya (8/5): - Affordable.
- Jason (8/5): - Location and parking cleanliness?
- Ma. Elena (6/5): - Affodable and clean place to rent
- Li (4/5): - The room smells very bad and it’s hurt my throat. The refrigerator makes a such bad noise. I probably won’t stay there anymore.
- james (10/5): - For the money this was a bargain, no frills safe and clean accommodation in central Ottawa. What’s not to like?
