Guest Reviews
- Erin (7/5): Ok for a short stay. - Decent price. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Looked like some aspects of the room were renovated in recent past. But other aspects, windows, shower, exterior of building are in need of renovation as well.
- Pamela (8/5): - How close I was to everything!!! The wallpaper reminded me on my grand mother's house! Love the yellow flowers when you walk in. Very quiet place. My mom didn't like there was lady bugs in our window coming from the cracks. Personnally, I don't mind them.
- Shannon (5/5): Not very organized - Bed was comfortable Check in was very unorganized. Wrong number to call for check in on the door, the person meeting us inside, was showing other guests my room, like it was available..I had to say it was my room..my room was very cold when I arrived. Paint peeling off on ceiling.
- choudhary (10/5): -
- Sue (9/5): Good for an overnight stay - Three room was comfortable and clean my guys serif catering kitchen on-site It to a while too book in sure too there being not check inn area and the staff were not immediately available
- Ozan (9/5): -
- Soffiapreet (9/5): -
- Jeff (5/5): - No breakfast at a bed and breakfast.
- Manuela (6/5): Serviceable - Super clean and comfortable . Landlady very friendly and easygoing. Location jus off a four-lane road surrounded by car dealerships and other businesses. Not a peaceful, natural setting at all.
- Cory (7/5): Odd place , did not see anyone, no workers at all ever - Very clean room , nicely decorated, comfortable bed Shower head didn't work properly , room not sound proof ,
- Daniel (6/5): -
- Cristina (10/5): -
- Sherrie (9/5): - Staff were cheery and helpful
- Ellen (7/5): - Na Smell of mothballs
- Harshad (6/5): Okay! - Arriving at the property about 45 minutes after booking (in the evening) and with a call to the property manager, we quickly figured out that the property had been listed in error as the one room they had available wasn't readied for guests. Props to the property manager for quickly getting it ready for us. It was comfortable and the room was stocked with the usual comfort-related amenities one finds in hotel rooms. There is also a tub (bath)! Because it was not ready when we arrived, the room was COLD! The radiator next to the bed did not work and the combined AC+heater really struggles (we also used the faux fireplace heater subsequently) and handwarmers to heat the bed. Radiator inside the bathroom (in fact it belted out cold air) did not work and we had to keep the door open when not in use. The second person using the shower in the morning did not get hot water at all. Poor friend of mine!
Was it value for money? I don't think so but it was the cheapest on PEI at $122 a night! 😂
- Lisa (7/5): -
- Bell (8/5): Stayed 2 nights. The first room was better than the second night's room. - No breakfast. First time using this type of process (figured no one was home and didn't feel comfortable just walking in, so left and returned later).
It could be a better description on how the process works.
- Jesslyn (7/5): Worked out to be an overall adequate place to stay on our 2 night visit to Summerside. - The room met expectations as "get what you pay for" Under no disillusion that the place was going to be an 8 or more out of 10. I would give it a 7. Liked location. Liked spaciousness of room; new bathroom; nice to have tv and cable. Lovely building but needs some TLC. No presence of owner when we arrived. It was hard to know how to enter. There was a code outside .. we did not know what it meant. Door was open so went in. Door to room was open and we did not have room number so had to guess the number based on process of elimination. Linens and blankets were quite old and not as fresh as would expect. Therefore a bit concerned re sleeping in bed - might be bedbugs? But were none. There was no garbage can. There was a coffee pot and stale coffee in hallway for any one to use. Looks like rooms were occupied by borders for the most part. No problem with this but suites for overnight guests should have been fresher - not same as place for borders. We felt we were in a boarding house.
- David (6/5): -
- Bernie (5/5): Clean enough and adequate…..staff was helpful - Close to downtown Summerside Room was very bare bones. It is a bedroom in an old house that has been adapted to a hotel room. meaning the bathroom is small, the shower is small, the coffee machine is under the TV, and a few more tables or areas to put your personal belongings would be beneficial.
Personnel accueillant. Pas d’insonorisation.
- Hannah (1/5): horrible service - made it impossible to check in and didn’t give me a refund when i showed up alll lights were off and could not find anywhere to check in.
- Carol (9/5): Very enjoyable stay in a lovely house. - The room was lovely - comfortable bed, with fridge, coffee maker, cups and cutlery. Two windows making it bright and sunny. Maybe a lamp on the desk, rather than two at the bed? As the desk (in room 101) is not near the bed, it was very hard to see what I was doing at night, with only the light from my computer screen. A table lamp would have helped. Also, a waste paper basked in the room would be a good idea. The sanitary bin in the bathroom was the only waste basket.
- John (8/5): Many attractions within an hour. - We stayed in summerside to facilitate visiting 3 attractions. We had two good dinners at 2 brothers restauants that is 100 yards from the Sunflower. The anne of green gables house (actually montgomery's uncle) in park corner. It was ineteresting and a nice short trail showing off the fall foliage. The potato museum and museum on history of oleary were wonderful insights into last 300 years. The iron lung brought home the folly of anti-vaxers while the role of unversities and research stations in averting further potato famines was clear. The acadian museum in miscouche showed the perseverence of a persecuted culture. While the room was as expected, i had to call booking.com to check in. There was a person on site but she respond to doorbell or phone call. We ran out of toilet paper and were rescued by a permanent tenant. Come in summer. Out of season many attractions and restaurants close.
I will click met expectations. An email from the property said there was an attachment with arrival instruction. There was no attachment.
This room was 2/3 the price of any other room on the trip. I suspected this would mean limited support. The room itself was as expected
I am struggling for the second review in a row with being a
- Eric (4/5): IF WE HAD NOT PAID ALREADY, WE WOULD NEVER HAVE STAYED THERE!!!! - Location and that is it!! Rang doorbell and was greeted by lady. She was very nice and mentioned she was here on the premises and if there was anything we needed to ask her. We tried to locate her in the house by ringing the front doorbell, calling her several times, BUT WE NEVER SAW HER AT ALL, OTHER THAN WHEN WE ARRIVED. We were there for 3 nights. There was no toilet paper, no Kleenex in bathroom. Bed was very uncomfortable. It looked more like a boarding house. There was a fridge and microwave to use on the main floor, but both were dirty. Room was adequate. No where to sit in room other than a card chair. Ridiculous. Would we book there again. Absolutely not!!!
- Karen (1/5): - Nothing One of the Worst Travel Experiences I’ve Had – Avoid at All Costs
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so frustrating and disappointing I feel compelled to warn others.
I originally booked two rooms at this bed and breakfast, only to have the reservation cancelled without explanation shortly before arrival. I emailed multiple times to clarify and ask about rebooking, but received no response. Eventually, I was able to rebook — unfortunately.
When we arrived at 7:15 PM, no one was there to check us in. Their own booking information clearly states that late check-in is after 8:00 PM, so we were well within the expected timeframe. After finally reaching the owner by phone, someone was sent to meet us — who then scolded us for arriving “so late.” Not exactly a warm welcome.
Things only got worse from there. Despite booking two rooms, we were initially only checked into one. When we were finally given the second room, it was shockingly small — we had to put our luggage in the bathroom because there was literally no space elsewhere.
Both rooms were unclean and uncomfortable. There was visible mold in the showers, dust, and grime that made it clear these rooms were not being maintained to any reasonable standard.
To top it all off, we went down for breakfast the next morning — only to be told that breakfast is no longer offered. Our booking confirmation explicitly included breakfast, but the staff simply shrugged and said they don’t provide it anymore.
I followed up with the owner after our stay to raise these issues and once again — no response.
This was supposed to be a relaxing trip, but it turned into a source of stress and frustration. I’ve stayed at many bed and breakfasts over the years, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. Between the lack of communication, poor cleanliness, false advertising, and rude treatment, I would strongly advise anyone considering a stay here to look elsewhere.
- Jochen (5/5): -
- steve (7/5): A quirky older home. -
- Lorraine (8/5): - There was no food service as the owner was out of town. This was not a problem as we were out and about early every day. Had a great time. Location was quiet and no unnecessary noise either outside or in the house.
- Judith (2/5): - This facility is the worst I’ve stayed in. As for a b&b there was no breakfast and a filthy shared kitchen with permanent residents. Room was dirty so were moved to another which was no better, microwave outside the door for anyone to use which was disgusting. No garbage can in room except for a small one in the bathroom. This is our third booking through Expedia on our trip and all fallen way below expectations. Tonight we are in our fourth booking with Expedia and even though the hotel is quaint we are not impressed. We met another group of people that were checking out of the sunflower when we were checking in and they were also disgusted with the rooms as well as two other couples that were there while we were there. Most of the tourist sites were closed for the season,
The only memorable part was the beautiful boardwalk
- Hania (9/5): A PEI gem - Great helpful people !!
- Singh (6/5): Affordable comfortable but could be better - Nearby
- Baumgartner (8/5): - The staff are super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and lovely. The bed was comfy.
- Chingya (8/5): -
- Liang (9/5): -
- Claude (6/5): -
- Céline (8/5): -
- Steve (9/5): Great stay, very quiet. Would recommend. - Within walking distance of downtown.
Appeared to be a large old house but the rooms were very nicely done up and in great condition and quite spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Reasonable price. All was good.
- Andrew Hebb (7/5): - Easy check-in. The sign was in a bad location, making it not obvious I was in the right place.
- Terri (8/5): Very efficiently run, very organized, staff was very helpful. Quiet and comfortable. - Even though it’s situated on a busy street corner, I found the accommodations very quiet and comfortable. The other guests were quiet very well maintained and very clean. I would’ve preferred to have opened the window to have actual fresh air; instead it was air conditioning in the room.
- Camela (9/5): -
- Pascale (10/5): Great hosts, beautiful room. Close to everything. We will definitely come back! - Extremely welcoming and accommodating.
- Koernig (8/5): -
- Natasha (8/5): -
- Trish (10/5): - Quaint property and room nicely furnished with electric fireplace and lovely bathroom. Bed very comfortable
- Christine (10/5): - Comfortable, clean and spacious room. Close to Summerside attractions. Mary was welcoming and professional, and it was the perfect place at a reasonable cost to spend a night during our PEI trip!! Highly recommend!
- Laureen (8/5): -
- Lynn (10/5): Nice place - Room was spacious and clean. Bed was super comfy. Iwners were friendly. Easy to find.
- Michela (6/5): -
- gerry jr (10/5): - qiute good
- Stephanie (10/5): - Was a wonderful stay.
The room was large with a very comfortable bed and great size washroom with lovely shower.
Will definitely stay again when we come back next year
- Bea (9/5): -
- Laina (9/5): - Chris is an excellent host. We had awesome breakfast. Much appreciated the loan of two Beach chairs for our morning visit of Cavendish beach
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Check in poor- difficult to understand greeter- no orientation to Victorian style guesthouse (there was a fridge/coffee maker-? For guest use??- who knows) did not feel welcome just wanted payment immediately. Carpets were filthy & buckled
- Krzysztof (10/5): -
- Angelika (10/5): - L'endroit c'était super
- casey (10/5): -
- KENNETH (6/5): - Room was a beautifully refurbished main floor room in an old house. Very clean. Bed had a sag in it. Door doesn't fit well and there was a lot of light coming in from all around it from the vestibule outside. The light in the smoke detector blinked all night, These are not suites. They are rooms. The coffee pot is shared by everyone. There was no sweetener available for coffee in the morning.
- joe (3/5): Would not recommend or use again - No breakfast Only 2 towels for 2 people for 2days and 2nights poor shower operation. Extreme slope floors cramped small bathroom and not very clean overall no hostess or office very expensive for what we got dissatisfied would not recommend
- Sengul (7/5): We stay just for a night and I don’t think I will stay there more than two days. - Stuff welcome you with big smile.. Ac works perfectly Hall way carpet looks very dirty
The bed was old and too high( people short like me need a letter to climb the bed) and make so much noises.
If you need to have a caffe or tea you need to go downstairs .
- amber (10/5): - Very clean but still felt like a heritage house, the owner was very nice! Up the road from the ocean, and only 5-10 minute walk to many food and shopping options
- Elisa (7/5): - Really beautiful heritage building conveniently located close to the city centre and the main roads connecting Summerside with the rest of PEI. The room was big and spacious and we had access to the veranda, where we could sit and read. Our room had a nice view on the garden. Free parking on site. The bed was quite uncomfortable. The staff was kind but not very responsive - both on the app and on site. The “kitchen corner” was not equipped - there was a microwave but no plates, and there was no way to wash our lunch boxes after a day out.
- Grace (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Lovely welcome by owner
- Helen (10/5): We stayed 3 nights and felt like home away from home. We would recommend and also stay at The Sunflower Guesthouse . - Location , parking , the porch was lovely to sit outside and relax in the evening. Our hostess was so friendly and cheerful
- Lucie (8/5): -
- Danilo (8/5): - Host is friendly. Place is clean, cozy and cenrally located.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Helpful staff
- Carole (10/5): Cozy comfort - Hostess was super kind and accommodating . Good home base to explore the island
- Helene (7/5): -
- François (10/5): - the light in the lobby on the 2nd floor is broken
- Kathy (8/5): - Old property.
The inkeeper was very nice. No breakfast. They do have coffee, cups and a fridge. But no sink to fill the coffee machine.
Close to everything in Summerside. Not ideal if you stay for more than a night. But great for an overnight and a visit beautiful Summerside PEI.
- Annie (10/5): -
- Joseph (7/5): Beautiful character home in a good location but needs a lot of TLC. - It was clean and Zu was wonderful, kind, and helpful. Sloped floors, stained hallway carpet, no microwave, and the mattress was too soft and uncomfortable.
- Rebeccah (10/5): - Beautiful house and lovely owner. Our room was very spacious, clean and well decorated. The bathroom was a little small but still had a full size tub and shower and it was exceptionally clean.
My only complaint and it’s a small one is the height of the bed. I’m 5’3 and I felt like I needed a stool to climb into the bed! That being said my 6’4” husband loved it!
Overall it was a beautiful stay.
- Chris (10/5): - Nice, comfortable stay with lots of character.
- Haridoss (8/5): Reasonable with warm welcomes and help by the office owner/staff - Nice location. Centrally located for all key shoreline drives I expected they would change linens at least every other day.
Also no sitting room at the coffee
- Plamondon (8/5): -
- Chedore (4/5): - The stairs were really bad and the website actually brought you to the motel next door.
- Mark (10/5): - A perfectly lovey place to stay in summerside. Great service and clean newer rooms. It’s about a 10min walk from the main drag in summerside and the waterfront action. If you want a nice easy stay this is the place.
- Trushna Hikesh (10/5): -
- Jordan (10/5): - Quick and easy checkin! The rooms were quite nice and the bed was super comfortable. Lots of space! The floor was a little slanted, but that didn’t really matter. Would totally come back!
- Maggie (4/5): - Everything was put togeather nicely. It was clean . The bed was on a slant, where my head was lower then my feet , therefore we couldn't sleep most of the night . In the bathroom when I removed the face cloth from the holder by the sink , it fell off in my hand looked liked it had been glued togeather .
- Wayne (10/5): - Location was excellent, exceptional customer service by the onsite staff person. Quiet, nicely updated and pleasantly surprised with the upgrade
- Brad (6/5): - Host is very friendly and welcoming. It was very clean and the a/c works very well. Enjoyed sitting on wrap around porch. Property needs some updating including the decor and furniture (arm chair in room is ancient and not usable. The grounds have a lot of potential but will need work.
- Judy (10/5): - Personalized warm welcome. Sparkling clean room with private bathroom. Nicely decorated including positive messages. Kind and caring hostess. Thank You!
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Hostess was amazing & friendly…. great location!!!
- Wayne (9/5): Well served by Sue………….she even honoured my birthday. Was always available. - Location.
- Cory (8/5): - Very quaint , old century home . Quiet , nice air-conditioning in room , ultra quiet
