- Jose Luis (8/5): - Casona del Porvenir was perfect for our weekend in Cartagena. The room was a little small but since we were not spending all of our time in the rooms it didn’t really matter. The bed were comfortable and the space was always clean. There were some inconsistencies with the housekeeping, we seemed to have to call the front desk everyday for something, the last night they only left one towel, we called but no one ever came so my husband had to go to the pool to get a towel. The breakfast was ok and the pool is tiny. Again we didn’t spend so much time at the hotel so it didn’t really matter. I would recommend it.

The staff—from housekeeping to reception, bartenders, and more—offered genuine, top-tier hospitality. We felt like family by the end of our stay. Gabriel at the front desk was especially helpful and kind. He made us feel right at home and was always available for questions and great local recommendations. We also connected with Alex and Vicki at the bar—they created such a welcoming vibe that even our family from another hotel came over just to grab drinks and enjoy their company! Our room was spotless, and housekeeping worked around our schedule. The hotel is peaceful, though balcony rooms near the street may get some nightlife noise. The included breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh juices—coco-maracuyá at their sister hotel (Casona del Colegio) was our favorite! Though the pool is small, it was still relaxing, and the nightly sweet treats left in the room were a lovely surprise. We felt very safe, even returning late at night thanks to attentive security. If you’re visiting Cartagena, we highly recommend Casona del Porvenir. Thank you for making our stay unforgettable!

Greeted us with free alcoholic beverage. Fruit and welcome note when we walked in. Flavored water in common area. Security at the door and feels super safe. The only negative was smokers in the common area on the 1st floor. Smokers should only be rooftop.

But we were led into a small but “superior” room with no natural light (perhaps other rooms do have windows), well-appointed very tiny bathroom, albeit with Japanese toilet. On that first floor, the corner turns into a flight of metal stairs that, from below, can easily be missed by an inattentive person, leading to a cracked head. Finally, electronic room keys do not work efficiently. Staff is very nice, location is wonderful.

- Matthew Michael (6/5): Nice hotel, questionable management protocols. - It is a beautiful hotel but upon arrival the room we reserved was not available so we were given an upgraded room. The next day at breakfast we were told we need to pack up and prepare to move rooms because they needed the upgrade room. It was not a pleasant experience as at check in I made it clear I did not want to move due to them not having our room available. They made us move and provided a 30 minute massage for each of us in compensation. The hotel is nice, breakfast is minimal though.

The area is in the middle of shopping and entertainment with the atmosphere of old Cartagena and street entertainers. I highly recomend this Hotel and area.
