- Mallaury (10/5): -
- Buffiere de Lair (10/5): An idyllic stay, with exceptional views and more comfort than expected. - The tents were super comfortable, I was expecting way less comfort than what we actually had.
The fact that there are only two tents on the property makes it really intimate. And waking up in front of the volcano in this beautiful garden is an absolutely amazing experience. Having your own kitchen during a 2 weeks trip is also great to take a break from restaurants. Everything was amazing, Evi, the owner, was available and made our checking time earlier for our convenience. There is a rooster either in the garden or the one next to the property, that woke us up at least 6 times a night for 2 days, which was really inconvenient, but I guess it is the price to « pay » to sleep in the nature. If I had to find something else, the shower is not the most practical, but it was enough for 2 days.
- Daniela (10/5): Perfect place surrounded by nature and amazing view - Love everything about this place, so peaceful and serene Nothing
- Tim (10/5): Takes Glamping to whole new levels!! - Amazing views. Evelyn was very helpful and friendly. The kitchen was great and well stocked. The room was very clean and nice. You really feel like you are in the country / farm / jungle. With great views. Shower could be hotter. Only down side.
- Vincent (10/5): -
- ALEX (9/5): Lovely view of Arenal volcano - Wonderful view and beautiful nature surroundings. Very unique stay. The hosts was the most wonderful! I loved staying here. Short drive to everying including La Fortuna falls.
I loved staying the sound of rain hitting the tent. If you are a light sleeper be aware of screaming rooster at 3 am and the cow was in a heat I am guessing, and accompanied the rooster.
Hot water in the shower are two tiny streaks.
Some bugs in a tent but didn’t bother me.
- Samuel (10/5): - L’accueil de Evi est parfait et les tentes sont très bien équipées et confortables. Dans la cuisine on trouve tout le nécessaire.
- Sufian (10/5): -
- Matej (10/5): - Perfect location, perfect owner, perfect vibe. It is awesome how u can feel the nature there. There was a screaming chicken but they give u the plugs to put in to ears

- Failli Forzoni (10/5): Amazing place immersed in nature!! - Lovely place immersed in the nature! Very safe also for female solo travel, even if it’s a bit isolated. The tent is really functional and it’s like a proper room with all comforts. I had a lovely time also with Felix and the cows that live in front of the tent. It was a blessing to wake up in the nature like that! And it’s in front of a volcano! Everything was perfect! Just keep in mind that you are in the nature in a tent, so there can be a few insects and the tent is a bit noisy at night with the wind! But it’s amazing and part of the experience :)
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing experience! Had such a lovely stay here and the view of the Arenal volcano from my bed was incredible.
- Sakina (8/5): Very good - Great experience really pretty. Its in forest so expect bugs n mosquitoes in room. It gets really hot in the day
- Robert (10/5): Flora Glamping de Abuela offers a unique lodging experience close to nature with a beautiful view. - I had a great time at Flora Glamping de Abuela. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It is in a beautiful location that is a short drive from the city but far enough away to be a quiet sanctuary. I would fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of nature. It was truly a wonderful experience! I have no complaints. I would suggest reading up before going. I'm sure some people would prefer a regular hotel within walking distance of stores and restaurants. But this was exactly what I was hoping for and i would stay there again in a heartbeat.
- Ethan (10/5): Exceptional - This is an exceptional stay and is clearly a labor of love! The owner, Evi, was thoughtful, attentive, and went out of her way to make our stay extra special. She is a great communicator and answered any questions we had about the area and activities to do. Highly recommend!
- Ruth (9/5): The hostess/owner was lovely and very attentive to our needs. - N/A.
- Clint (10/5): - This was a unique property in an amazing location to access the waterfall and la Fortuna town for dining etc.
- Leslie (9/5): Superb - Evi our host was lovely and very quick to respond. The setting was beautiful, surrounded by a very colourful garden and a wonderful view of the volcano. If you want to be surrounded by the sounds of birds this is the place! Very tranquil setting.
It was very clean and comfortable and the shared kitchen area was well equipped.
It was a short drive into town and a quick trip to the nearby falls.
- Eric (10/5): Amazing views! - The view was spectacular! Evi, the host was wonderful. Very helpful with recommendations and knowledgeable about the surrounding area as well as other areas in Costa Rica.
- Csaba (9/5): Really pleasant, cozy, nature-friendly accommodation. I hope we will return for an even longer stay. -
- Dawn (9/5): We are not Glampers, but this was great! - The host was very accommodating and very responsive. We had a perfect view of the volcano. Very quiet and very close to town, if you need to visit for anything. Very small place, but was perfect for us, as we never stay long in the rooms, we are out exploring. Comfy bed and had all that was needed. Nothing
- Christoffer (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place and very clean. Helpful and welcoming owner!
- Johnson (10/5): Quaint tents with views of Arenal volcano and beautiful birds - We love this little glamping spot!! Away from the city lights and noises. The staff is amazing!! Very friendly and welcoming! We even got to go to the barn and milk a cow! Having a fully stocked kitchen with all the appliances you could possibly need is a bonus Nothing
- Langeveld (8/5): Very good - Glamping and birds The staff was not on site and did not respond to whatsapp calls after 9 pm. We thought we were going to have to sleep in our car.
We called about 5 times.
They did not send us a confirmation on booking.
The did send some information to a my home number registered with booking. That was not the number i was traveling with.
Horrible connection. I would not stay there again.
- Carrilyn (10/5): Quiet rustic place to get away, but super close to activities. - Close to food and La Fortuna waterfall! Not cose to the crowds!
- Philippe (9/5): Great solution - Location : in the countryside but close to downtown
Adorable and helpful owner Sound of rain on the pvc roof
- Bazarca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellie (8/5): Overall, I had a good time - Meeting Tío Félix and learning how to milk a cow was priceless. Also the pass to the thermalitas was greatly appreciated. The kitchen area was well supplied. The proximity to the volcano was excellent After 8a the tent was too hot to be in until late afternoon. I just wanted to chill but couldn’t because of the heat in the tent.
- Todesco (10/5): Wonderful in every way! - What an amazing and wonderful experience we had at Flora Glamping de Abuela! The tents are new and beautiful, perfectly appointed, and amazingly clean. We slept very soundly and comfortably and woke up to an unobstructed view of the Arenal volcano. No trees, buildings, or even a pane of glass between us and the mountain. Priceless!
It was easy to find our way here and the road is quite good. The host met us upon arrival and was wonderfully responsive at all times. We loved the personal touch of this family business. Soooo much better than a hotel! All good!
- Valérie (10/5): Exceptional - The host is super friendly and the location is just impressive!
We were lucky to see the sunset from our stay with the Arenal Vulcano in the picture.
Very cozy!
- Anastasiia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicki (8/5): Very good -
- Sergio (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location and view. Very clean. Full immersion in nature.
- Matei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annabella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rasha (7/5): Good -
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing nature around (even though it was cloudy and we couldn’t see the volcano).
- Preeti (1/5): For potential guests,if you value a welcoming and accommodating host, you may want to look elsewhere - Nothing. If you are considering staying here, be prepared for a strict rulebook reminiscent of your grandma's house – and possibly more drama than you bargained for. Upon our check-out, we were unexpectedly (and wrongfully) accused by the owner of what looked like a liquid spill on a piece of paper that was placed inside a photo frame inside the room - this paper had the Wi-Fi into printed on it. We were caught quite off-guard by the allegation and despite our explanation, she proceeded to make a scene, treating us with unwarranted hostility and suspicion. The alleged “damage”, mind you, was a liquid spill that travelled inside the photo frame only blurring the printed content of the paper - and replacing the paper seemed like a quick fix and certainly did not warrant the rude and passive-aggressive demeanour of the owner, that absolutely made us feel unwelcome.
Accommodation-wise, privacy is lacking, as only two tents are available, and sound travels easily between them. Additionally, the kitchen is basic, and it's hard to find supplies nearby. Navigating to the property can be tricky, as it's off the beaten path and not accurately marked on Google Maps, complicating transportation arrangements. At night, bugs and a noisy rooster make it hard to sleep. And when the sun comes up, the tent gets super hot. Overall, while the property offers a unique experience, it falls short in terms of comfort, privacy, and hospitality, making it a less than ideal choice for a relaxing getaway.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - Everything :) the host is so nice! Location is awesome, we loved the kitchen, its great for cooking wit lot of equipment!
The tent are very cleen, new, we loved it! Thank you :)
- Radoslaw (10/5): Love! - Amazing and cozy place place in quiet area! Arenal view is magnificient! And staff so welcome and helpful!
- Edgar (10/5): Great place, Evi amazing host! - Great place, amazing surroundings and view! View and contact with nature.
- Serena (9/5): Very nice place - The tend is very nice and comfortable.
The kitchen is fully equipped and the owner is a very nice person.
The position is just gorgeous. The only down side is the cock that starts to sing at 4am every morning and keeps going all the rest of the morning.
- Jakob (10/5): Perfect, beautiful stay in La Fortuna. - Beautiful nice Glamping tents totally in the nature. Full equipped kitchen and perfect for cooking.
Would totally recommend it when you stay in La Fortuna. Nothing.
- Ninoslav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Giorgia (8/5): Peaceful and private with great connectivity to all activities and attractions in the area. - Location excellent, discrete and quiet with view of volcano. Nice to have kitchen facilities to prepare breakfast and dinners. Very close to waterfall and individual parking for vehicle. Fridge within the room very useful! No daily house keeping or cleaning facilities available to keep the place clean. But not a huge problem.
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional - This was probably my favorite stay during my entire trip to Costa Rica. It was so beautiful waking up and seeing the volcano right outside your tent!!! It’s very romantic and just breathtaking. I would highly recommend this place. The only down sides is that when I booked with booking.com, it said check in was 15:00-22:00, which was great because I knew we’d be on a hike during the day and would arrive late afternoon. I didn’t see the special request that came in after the booking that said we could only check in from 15:00-16:00, and the lady was texting me wondering where I was at. I didn’t see it because I didn’t have Wi-Fi. They also sent me a long list of rules to abide by, but if you are respectful of the room, it’s well worth it. Just make sure you communicate what time you will arrive beforehand, because there isn’t a checkin desk or office.
Although it’s doable, it’s a little far from town to walk and having a car might make things easier.
- Theresa (10/5): We had such a great time staying there! - One of the nicest accommodations we stayed at during our trip. The view is spectacular and you can see volcano directly from the bed! Nothing. Just be aware that the bathroom has no door.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johnson (10/5): This was a wonderful dive into nature without feeling like you are roughing it. Good value! - First of all the view of the volcano was spectacular! We arrived early and were greeted by the host's father Tico Felix, who gives the greatest hugs ever!! The abundance of bird species was incredible and waking to the sound of roosters always makes us happy. There were cows in the pasture and one had a calf shortly after we arrived, talk about getting in touch with nature! The Tents were so comfy and pretty roomy and included a personal shower, toilet and sink, plus a mini fridge. The kitchen was well appointed with all the appliances a person could need, all newish and clean. The location was only a few minutes from La Fortuna and had some interesting shops along the way. The host provided multiple links for restaurants and tours in the area. We would definitely come again and bring our family. nothing
- Thijs (7/5): Good - Nice tent, comfortable bed, great view, nice that bathroom and toilet are in the same tent. Kitchen well-equipped and clean. It depends on which neighbours you have how quite it is. Because it’s a tent, you’ll hear every noice and the tents are close together. Also the farm in front of the tent is noisy in the morning.
When it rains it gets very damped in the tent, so after 2 days all our clothes were slightly wet/damped.
- Jannatul (10/5): Exceptional - The location and view from the tent is breathtaking! If you get lucky and the volcano isn’t covered by clouds, you will have the spectacular view of the volcano right in front of you. Waking up to the calls of roosters, cows, birds and just nature was therapeutic. The tent was also clean and neat and the shared kitchen was fully stocked with appliances. Our host, Evi, was incredibly friendly and helpful and flexible. She helped us find activities in La Fortuna and even booked a ATV for us the next morning. We just had to show up on time and make the payment. Highly recommend this place if you want to get lost in nature! Everything was great.
- Bethan (10/5): What a gem - Loved it here. Beautiful accommodation, really well presented , clean and comfortable. Separated little kitchen with everything you need. You will need a car as it’s out of the way but you wake up looking at the volcano, stunning. Owner was very helpful throughout our stay. Rooster!
- Auinger (10/5): Exceptional -
- Naama (10/5): Amazing and peaceful stay at the outskirts of La Fortuna - Flora Glamping de Abuela was an amazing experience! It's a local family owned business. We stayed there for 4 nights, and even before we got there we contacted the host: Evi, who helped us a lot with planning our stay at La Fortuna and book some attractions. The place has an amazing location! Just outside the city but 5 minutes drive so you can enjoy the quiet and the perfect view of the Arenal volcano and still feel close to the city. Evi was available for us at all times with every question or help we needed.
The room was spacious and clean but take into account that the toilet and shower are in the same space as the rest of the room. However with only 2 glamping tents you can really feel the privacy.
The shared kitchen was well equipped with all the things we needed, and was designed optimistically. The fact that the toilet was in the same space with the room wasn't ideal (although we knew it before we came and took that into consideration).
Also probably getting there without a car is quite a walk from the city, so think about it if you don't have one.
- Sabean (10/5): Special experience - It’s so beautiful, it’s a lovely location - our host was super helpful and friendly. It’s also owned by a local family - which to me is always a plus. It wasn’t an issue for us because we’ve been together a long time, but the bathroom is in the room with no separation - it’s worth it, but something worth knowing! X
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The host was exceptionally helpful and kind. The room was beautiful, clean, and unique.
- Kati (9/5): Superb - I loved the location and the view. The accommodation was beautiful too. A little far from town. Fine, if you have your own transport. But walking distance from the waterfall which was nice
- Frank (10/5): Beautiful, peaceful and natural. - Beautiful ‘rooms’. Peaceful and tranquil. Lovely gardens and direct views of the volcano. Hosts were attentive, warm and welcoming. Great kitchen facilities.
Only a short drive anyway from La Fortuna so easy to pop in, but enough out to feel like you’re away from it all.
Also, a super short drive to the waterfalls, so it’s easy to get up and beat the crowds (get there before 8am). Highly recommended. Nothing!
- Patricia (10/5): Great Glamping-Experience with views of the volcano - New and very clean accommodation, cute design & very friendly host!
- Russell (8/5): Very good -
- Rosa Maria (10/5): - It's a perfect location if you like nature. Nice people and place.
- Federica (10/5): Exceptional - Eeeeverything!! The tents are so nicely designed and every little detail is well thought! Amazing Vulcano view from the front! And everything super cozy! All perfect
