Guest Reviews
- Kimberly (4/5): - Unfortunately who reviews. oMG no this place needs major help. It’s so unsanitary: I was scared to even tell the manager or person in charge due to leaving one of there sister properties which was told No no but they have the igloo beach lodge truck parked up in front: the floors the sheets smelled. The bathroom had mold. The faucet one handle is broken. What I have pictures to show. Mind you the iguanas walking on the roof and under all night. Might be nature but they can be removed.
- Luis Miguel (10/5): - The property is beautiful! It is in a great area if you want to rest and also very close to the main road if you are there for attractions. The food is delicious and the attention is top tier. Thank you guys for everything.
- Svitlana (10/5): Exceptional - This was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Costa Rica truly felt like a fairytale!
As soon as I arrived, I was greeted with a complimentary cocktail — delicious, elegant, and beautifully presented. At the very same moment, horses were calmly walking nearby the restaurant. It felt like a scene from a movie — so natural and incredibly memorable.
The room was simply wow. Stylish, clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. Everything was new, with warm, natural touches, creating an atmosphere of complete tranquility. It was easy to relax and truly unwind there.
A special magic was the hummingbirds flying right next to me. Watching these small, colorful birds added even more charm to the natural beauty around.
The food and cocktails were absolutely top-notch. Everything was incredibly fresh, tasty, and served beautifully. Every meal felt like a special event.
One more thing that pleasantly surprised me — I had a European charger plug, and they provided an adapter without any issues. Such a small detail, but it shows the level of service and genuine care for guests.
This place is a perfect blend of nature, style, comfort, and warm hospitality. An ideal getaway that I want to experience again. I definitely recommend it! Overall, my experience was incredible, but I should mention one downside: I spent two days without towels, despite requesting them several times. This slightly affected my overall impression, as basic amenities like towels should always be readily available. I hope this issue will be addressed for future guests.
- Avi (4/5): - Idea was good when property was initially designed. Right now its in ruins. Absolutely no maintenance. Stink in bathrooms. Ran out of water last day. Free breakfast is a joke.
Two stars as owner gave a courtesy replacement room. Owners need to get act together if they want any visitors. I am not sure how there are so many positive reviews.
- Fernandez (3/5): The best employee was the photographer. Not at the price range they charge. - Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price
We were really looking forward to this stay, but unfortunately several things fell short of expectations:
• Cleanliness: We found mold behind the bed cushions, and the A/C unit was dripping directly onto the bed. The room floor was wet on arrival, and the outdoor jacuzzi was dirty (full of leaves and plastic parts).
• Comfort & Facilities: The room had roof leaks, and it’s not clearly mentioned that the rooms are tent-roofed, which impacts noise and privacy. We could hear everything happening in the neighboring unit.
• Service: Check-in was disorganized—no staff was available to receive us properly. There’s no daily cleaning unless requested, and towels were only provided after repeated asks (no hand towels at all).
• Food: My partner specifically asked for a flour-based option and was given tortilla chips instead—very disappointing.
• Inconveniences: You can’t charge food or drinks to the room, which felt unnecessarily complicated.
This place has potential in terms of location and concept, but service, cleanliness, and communication really need improvement. Sadly, it was not worth the cost based on our experience.
- Miller (10/5): A Thoughtful Retreat for Total Relaxation - This was my 7th time staying here. I’ve traveled all over Costa Rica, but Casa Lamia always pulls me back. There’s a unique soul to this place. Casa Lamia is pure magic. Every detail — from the earthy design to the jungle views — feels intentional. I left feeling calmer and more grounded. Easily my favorite spot in Costa Rica.
- Antonia (10/5): Worth Every Penny - I’ve traveled all over Central America, but Casa Lamia stands out. Every stay is a reminder of how hospitality should feel—welcoming, elegant, and natural. The location is close enough to explore the town but far enough to escape into the peaceful surroundings. Ten out of ten every time. Comfort, hospitality, and nature in harmony. Casa Lamia is where eco-luxury meets heart, and every stay feels deeply personal.
- Chapman (10/5): Stylish Comfort with Breathtaking Views - A little slice of heaven! The environment is quiet and nurturing. A heartfelt haven for nature lovers and wellness travelers alike.

This place is breathtaking. The views, the scent of the jungle, and the soothing sounds of nature make it feel unreal. Every detail—from room décor to service—is thoughtfully curated. The open-air dining area and fresh tropical breakfasts are a highlight. Great for couples or anyone needing a break from busy life.
Buena comida, hermosas vistas
- Daniel (10/5): Luxury and comfort at its best! - Luxury and comfort at its best! The room was immaculate, tastefully decorated, and incredibly relaxing. Staff greeted us with kindness and made sure every request was met without hesitation. A wonderful stay that I’d happily repeat anytime. It is the best restaurant, their seafood is incredibly fresh, the service is great, my wife was super happy with the food, the flavor of the octopus is great, the texture is delicious and more than enough to say, the view is incredible, also seeing the sunset is incredible, I recommend it 100% if it had more stars I would give them 100, thank you Casa Lamia and the staff. We will be back soon.
- Jayden (10/5): Wonderful stay at the hotel! - The restaurant served exquisite food, perfectly crafted with vibrant flavors. The Moroccan tents with jacuzzis offered the best stay we’ve had in Costa Rica. Breakfast was served on our jacuzzi—sipping coconuts while taking in the lush jungle views was pure bliss! We had a wonderful stay at the hotel! The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel welcome throughout. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we highly recommend this hotel!

- Arthur (10/5): The service is excellent. - The service is excellent. The view from the sunset is beautiful. A lovely place to return to. Recommended. And the food is superb, the tempura fish tacos are highly recommended. The stay was peaceful and luxurious. Clean, spacious rooms with modern touches made it feel like a retreat. Staff were courteous and responsive, making check-in and check-out a breeze. Perfect for relaxing or recharging during travel.

The Moroccan tents with jacuzzis were pure luxury—the best stay we’ve had in Costa Rica. - Carlos (10/5): Amazing service - Our stay at this boutique lodge was nothing short of exceptional. The rooms were tastefully decorated, blending comfort with style. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The on-site restaurant offered delightful dishes that complemented the breathtaking views. The service is incredible. They are very friendly and the food is next level. We had the Jerk Chicken, Paella and Steak.
- James (10/5): Really a wonderful experience - Nestled amidst lush greenery, this lodge offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The ambiance is peaceful, and the staff's attentiveness adds a personal touch to the experience. Enjoying a meal while overlooking the scenic landscape was a highlight of our trip. The room was spotless, modern, and very comfortable. The bed felt like sleeping on a cloud, and the bathroom was beautifully designed. The best part was the balcony overlooking the ocean—sunrises were absolutely breathtaking.
- Alexander (10/5): Great experience! - The staff's genuine friendliness made us feel at home. The culinary offerings were both innovative and delicious, making each meal a delight. Stayed in a spacious suite with large windows and a cozy sitting area. Everything was well-maintained and quiet. The view of the city skyline at night was stunning—especially with the lights twinkling from above.
- Santiago (10/5): A fantastic experience - The food was absolutely divine, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The Moroccan tents with private jacuzzis added a luxurious touch, creating a magical ambiance. An unforgettable dining and relaxation experience that perfectly blends elegance, comfort, and indulgence! A fantastic dining experience with delicious food and a warm ambiance. The menu had a great variety, and every dish was perfectly seasoned. The staff was attentive, making the evening even more enjoyable. Will definitely return!
- Dana (8/5): - Something I don't think is clear enough, The rooms are inside a restaurant. We stayed in one of the two rooms inside the building (it looks like there were additional tents on the property). The staff were friendly and helpful, we were provided our welcome drink upon arrival and able to check in early. While the room itself is well decorated and curated, it had a mini fridge and coffee maker, AC and a hanging space for your clothes. There was also no hand towel or floor towel provided for the bathroom and shower, there were no coffee mugs provided for the coffee maker, there was poop out on the netting, the curtains fell out of the wall when we went to close them, half the holes in the shower head just didn't have water. Over all it was clean enough, however the netting (part of the desire to book) was connected to the other rooms netting, as there was a small walkway between the rooms where you could access the netting from the restaurant, making the giant wall of windows slightly less appealling as anyone could walk onto the netting and if you were out there it would not be hard to see into the room beside us and vice versa. The restaurant was pricey compared to some of the other dinner places so we only ate breakfast there which was included. Breakfast portions were smaller compared to everywhere else we had eaten but good, you only have the drink option of drop coffee and its a set menu. Parking got tricky at night as there was only room for maybe 4 or 5 cars.
- Grace (5/5): I wish I could have rated this place higher because we loved the owner and staff, but we were very dissapointed with the - The staff and the owner Lamia were very accommodating and amazing. The location and service we received was great. I really wish I could have rated this place higher because of how great they were <3 Unfortunately during our stay there was leaking in two areas of the ceiling around electrical cords. We told staff about this and they went in to fix it that day but the leaking continued. There were three live roaches in our room throughout our three night stay, and the front door was basically wooden planks and did not seal off the outside which allowed bugs in. Although we had AC, because of the cracks in the door it did not allow the room to ever really cool off.
- Charnelle (6/5): - Lovely property, could use a bit of upkeep and more attentive staff.
- Anup (8/5): - Beautiful property
- Tomas (10/5): Great hotel- recommend! - Gorgeous property, comfortable rooms, excellent service! The rooms were tastefully decorated, blending comfort with style. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The on-site restaurant offered delightful dishes that complemented the breathtaking views.
- Ivone (10/5): My favourite place in Manuel Antonio - I loved the unique experience of staying in a luxury tent in the middle of nature. The architecture is very original, with standard walls and a tent-like roof, offering all the comfort you’d expect from a luxury hotel. The ambiance is super cozy, and I even loved the décor at the restaurant. It’s truly a dreamy place for a couple’s getaway. I’m so happy I found it!
- Naudia (10/5): Must visit stay! - Casa Lamia is so stunning and view is amazing. We loved having our little private jacuzzi style plunge pool. We also loved the breakfast!
- Zahra (10/5): Stay away Casa Lamia! - Casa lamia was such an amazing stay. First of all, everyone there was so friendly, including the owner herself! The breakfast that was included was delicious. Each hut was so cute and perfectly comfortable. Plus the views, just absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend a stay here!
- Emilia (10/5): - Beautiful property, eco chic boutique hotel, excellent service, the Moroccan tents are unique and elegant in a laid back setting. The food was spectacular and the views are breathtaking. Can’t wait to come back!
- Manuela (8/5): Very good - The staff is very friendly and the food is amazing! They were quick to help us with whatever issue we had. The attention to detail was definitely present! We were received with a beautiful cocktail and a personalized welcome sign. It's very close to Manuel Antonio Park, definitely a must see! The pool could have been cleaned every day, there were a lot of bugs in it. I'm sure that it would have been cleaned if I had asked though so I don't really see it as a problem.
- Simona (3/5): A bit Instagram va Reality - The view from the restaurant The pictures do not represent the reality. The quality of the rooms is quite poor and not well mantained.
The shades in the room cover half of the windows letting all the sunlight enter from 5 am.
Breakfast is one option only (and you don’t know in advance what you are going to get) in our case the only possibility was something we didn’t like.
- Elisa (10/5): - Absolutely loved our stay at Casa Lamia! We stayed in the tent with the jacuzzi and it was such a unique and dreamy experience. The service was incredible, super warm and thoughtful. The manager personally brought us cocktails to our room, such a sweet touch! We ended up sipping our drinks and having some delicious bites while soaking in the jacuzzi. Honestly, everything from the food to the vibe to the little details made it unforgettable. Can’t wait to come back!
- Igloo (10/5): - We loved our stay at Casa Lamia, It was our favorite hotel in Costa Rica, we traveled from south to North.
We booked the family room, which was a large room overlooking the gardens. It's very tastefully decorated.
The breakfast was delicious, our favorites were the shakshouka and passion fruit French toast.
They were both delicious!
Sindy the manager was a gem, she helped us book all of our activities, we did the catamaran which is a must.
Great stay and great service.
I highlyrecommend.
- Dakota (4/5): - I debating writing this review for a while as I discussed the issues with the owners and she assured things will change but reading through the rest of the reviews it seems to not have changed. I think anyone booking this spot needs to be aware. The place is beautiful and the views are stunning. IF there isn’t an event happening at the restaurant this is a quiet and beautiful spot to stay but weddings and dinners do seem to happen often here and the hotel guests are not informed. We were kept up until midnight with bass rattling our room and drunk people trying to enter it. The wifi isn’t locked so anyone can access it making it unusable for the people staying there. The check in was not smooth we ended up sitting at another restaurant for half an hour before we got a reply on how to check in which was just meeting someone at the bar of the restaurant, this wasn’t a smooth process and there was a wedding happening so we didn’t know if we were even able to enter into the restaurant upon arrival. There’s no where to park, street parking only. When we arrived our garbage for the bathroom had been used a few times already and there were makeup stains on the towels, there were some dead bugs on the bed and on the floor. The breakfast was child portions it was one egg on stale Tostito chips and a few pieces of fruit and you didn’t get a choice of what to eat everyone got served the same thing. The manager sindy is unapproachable, she will sink this business if she stays in charge.
- Joshua (4/5): - Paid 233$ for a room. Front door has a 1/4 crack between the door and the door jam that faces the community pathway to all the rooms and the other side is faceing the bed. Its a tent roof so you hear everything around you and they can hear you. No water pressure. Breakfast is a bowl of fruit and 1 egg with some toppings. The main reason I got this room was for the hottub. It was not hot when i got there. Takes around 10 hours to heat up to lukewarm water. I got cold being in the hottub. Good for the day but not for the night. Staff was nice and trying to make stuff work. This is the 1st time i have ever reviewed a hotel but i wish i had left as soon as i got there.
- Shawn (4/5): - We, like many other reviewers, fell for the great marketing tactics of Casa Lamia - the promise of a vibey, beautifully maintained hotel, in a picturesque setting. But, what we got was a hotel that felt more like a roadside motel, with stained linens, water stained walls, low functioning air conditioning units, dated decor and an overwhelming sense of disappointment. We booked a room for 2 nights and when we checked into our first room, we noticed it shared a wall with the kitchen/dining room. The space was noisy and really not to our satisfaction, so we requested to move to a different room; staff accommodated this request. Our new room was much quieter however, upon settling in, we discovered there was no water pressure in the shower, the shower pan would not drain, the hot water was hit or miss, and the toilet would barely flush. After spending one night at Casa Lamia, we decided to leave the next day and move to a much nicer, better priced hotel. We did not request a refund, just decided to cut our losses. And while we shared information about the dysfunctional systems with management, you could tell they were used to hearing these complaints, as the manager simply thanked us for sharing our concerns. We definitely do not recommend booking this hotel; there are better options in the area, with accommodations that far exceed those of Casa Lamia.
- aubrey (6/5): Still needs a lot of work - Casa Lamia has great service, but the rooms were fairly incomplete. There was no where to unpack a bag, hang clothes, or store anything. The rooms are nice looking and clean, but hooks to hang something, a table to use or luggage racks, a dresser or anything similar would be helpful considering how humid everything is there. The construction is quite weak, it rained a lot and our ceiling leaked in one room, the floor leaked in another around the toilet. The staff was helpful and the food was really good, but the staff eats in same room as the guests and are often sitting around taking breaks. It doesn't feel very professional and it's quite awkward asking them for help when they're sitting there eating in front of you. For the price, I think there are lot better options in the area.
- Antonia (10/5): i can’t wait to go back - Casa Lamia: The staff is excellent and the view is stunning
- Ania (10/5): Can’t wait to be back . - Was excited to check out this new place. The room was amazing - everything was clean and decor was so peaceful and relaxing, a private oasis. The area is so calm and relaxing, the sunrises and sunsets are serene. Had dinner at the restaurant - food is delicious , everything is fresh and the presentation is so detailed, drinks are amazing also.
- Rokia (10/5): Breathtaking nature feeling freedom in absolute luxury - Nature simplified with beauty
- Aurora (6/5): - The location of the property is excellent, the view is beautiful and it's close to many restaurants and the national park. However the room itself is very sparely furnished. There's no toilet paper holder, no dresser or anywhere to hang our wet bathing suite or clothes, no handles on any doors, which made the stay slightly unpleasant. We also did not have water on our last night of stay for quite a few hours, which made things difficult. I think it is good for a short 1-2 night stay, but not ideal for longer stay. We stayed for 4 nights which we found to be quite inconvenient.
- Jacques (10/5): Best stay and food in Costa Rica - The rooms were absolutely gorgeous and beautifully decorated. Remind me of the boho look of Tulum.
The restaurant has the best food I have had in all of Costa Rica, a mash of elevated street food, presentation was top.
Service was top notch and friendly, you felt like it was a family business which they I learnt it is.
We booked the tent with jacuzzi, it was very romantic and beautiful. They even served us breakfast in the jacuzzi.
I highly recommend this beautiful mini resort.
- Felix (8/5): - Owner was friendly through text , workers were great !!! Until my little one broke a drinking vase & the lady tried to get over on my husband & charge him $80 for it. Meanwhile the cook in Spanish was laughing & saying it’s no more then $20 10,000 colonies! That rubbed us the wrong way , we tipped every worker the whole stay!
The room was great , they should kill some of the animals nest around the property & also huge iguanas we heard all day/night on top of the ceiling! There needs to be some maintainace done for sure! But otherwise very nice unique stay!
- Elisa (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel surrounded by nature, laid-back luxury in a peaceful setting. - Gorgeous property, comfortable rooms, excellent service
- Brandon (10/5): fun and an adventure - An experience that anyone should definitely live, simply waking up to the sound of birds and horses is worth gold. Super staff was so warm and attentive to the needs of each guest. Deeply grateful to the staff at Casa Lamia.
- Young (10/5): - Staff was friendly. Nice restaurant within walking distance. Wish it had a pool though. The free breakfast was great to have before out morning excursions.
- Gabriela (10/5): A unique experience at Casa Lamia - Very cozy facility a unique place, staff is very nice, food excellent but expensive, however breakfast was included, owner help us to book excursions, we felt a very personalized experience. The view to the ocean is espectacular , we saw the sun set every afternoon from the lobby I highly recommend this place.
- Stephen (8/5): Casa Lamia - Very happy with our stay, room was lovely, staff very helpful, sea view and sunsets were spectacular, easy to access National Park.
- Salvatore (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sylvia (1/5): Terrible and dangerous. - It was nice looking and clean from a distance. The rooms were confusing. They moved us rooms at the last minute and the door to the room broke - it literally cracked and fell off the hinge as we were shown the room. The room we were moved to had a broken piece of glass that literally made a tiny cut on my grandsons finger because he just touched it. The second room we had switched also. We got all the way down the slope and then for some unknown reason they said we couldn’t stay there and they moved us up the hill. The hot tub was not clean and the move was a hassle. No one helped us with luggage. We had a total of three rooms. The manager was unhelpful. We left a full day early after having paid for an additional day. All of the concrete was poorly constructed and not level.
- Jeff (10/5): - Staff was amazing. Property was clean. Food was good.
- Faranak (7/5): Nice - Staff are lovely and we got a free upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi as we were early, which was really nice of them.
Breakfast and food at the hotel was the best we had during our stay in Costa Rica
Aesthetics are nice. Even though it was lovely to be upgraded, that particular room was more like a tent, which meant we woke up very early with the sounds of crows fighting and the room got really hot. If you like the feeling of being outdoors then it’s cool.
Needs a clothes rack and somewhere to put the luggage on top of rather than the floor.
- Daniwl (10/5): Luxury in every detail, treated like a king - Spectacular view, iconic food and cocktails, and the owner is a bombshell, extraordinary host. Will be back guaranteed N/A
- Kirk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kyle (6/5): - I wish I could have given this a higher rating, but unfortunately, many of the past reviews ring true.
We stayed in a luxury tent, but the experience didn’t match the description. The door was unsealed and insecure, so we had to seal it ourselves to keep bugs out. We arrived to half a roll of toilet paper and had to wait two hours the next day for more. The shower fluctuated between scalding hot and freezing cold — staff attempted to fix it, but the issue persisted. Several things were in disrepair, including broken knobs and damaged framing around the toilet entrance. The jacuzzi was also dirty when we arrived and wasn’t cleaned until we requested it the next day.
While staff were friendly and responsive, more proactive check-ins would have improved the experience.
On the bright side, the location is magical, the breakfast was fantastic, and the bed and temperature in the tent were very comfortable.
This place has so much potential, but it needs more attention to maintenance and guest experience, as echoed in other reviews.
- Eugénie (6/5): - We stayed at this hotel for 1 week in the lower priced room. The breakfast was included and was delicious every day. The few other times we ate there were not very good and very much overpriced so we ended up eating in other restaurants for dinner and lunch. The view is probably one of the best for sun sets and bird watch (parrots, toucans, etc.) Location is between Manuel Antonio and Quepos but on top of a high hill so I would recommend to get either a car or scooter to avoid walking up and down in the burning sun (physically hard) and/or paying for a taxi every time.
Also not walking distance from anything, you need to take the bus, taxi or your vehicle if you have.
Not much entertainment there, rarely any music or people so not a party place at all.
Our room was nice and clean, but located right beside the dining area of the restaurant which is unusual (the 2 lower costing rooms are there, otherwise the huts are further away
- Phillip (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Unforgettable birthday at Casa Lamia - I went to celebrate my birthday with friends. They decorated the room beautifully for my birthday. The food is amazing and the location is fantastic. We had the Private beach only for us and we had a Beach picnic there. Cindy the manager made sure we had an unforgettable stay. I highly recommend this place.
- Adam (9/5): Worth the stay with a car. - Amazing food, the staff was awesome and welcoming. Feels like a family running the place which is nice. It’s close to a private beach which when I went was only used by me and my partner, which is kinda cool/romantic. Accommodations are clean and spacious, and I regularly saw iguanas on property from my bedroom. Awesome sunset views. It’s a bit far from most things, so you definitely need a car. The food was amazing, but a little overpriced. The private beach is cool, but it’s a 10 min walk that is steep on the way back (you’ll be out of breath if you’re not in shape.)
- Maria (10/5): - From the moment I arrived at Casa Lamia, I knew this place was something special. The service was beyond exceptional—I felt more like a welcomed friend than a guest. Sindy and Joshi went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable, and I truly cherish the friendships I made with them.
The food was extraordinary, not only in taste but also in presentation. Every meal felt like a work of art, perfectly complemented by delicious drinks. My tent was stunning—beautifully designed, impeccably clean, and incredibly private, with a breathtaking view. Everything functioned perfectly, including the AC, ensuring absolute comfort.
Waking up to the peaceful sounds of birds and horses all around was an experience like no other. Casa Lamia is pure nature at its finest—a tranquil escape where you feel completely connected to the beauty of Costa Rica.
The service was impeccable, with staff going above and beyond, even arranging a taxi for me when needed. A special thank you to Lilia, the incredible owner, who personally booked all my activities and continuously checked in to make sure I was having the best experience possible.
Casa Lamia didn’t just provide a place to stay—it made my trip truly unforgettable. If you’re looking for a magical, immersive, and heartwarming experience in Costa Rica, this is the place. I can’t wait to return!
- Irene (10/5): Can’t wait to go back! - Casa lamia was an amazing choice to end our Costa Rica trip. It was our favorite stay in Costa rica. Beautiful design, outstanding service and amazing cuisine.
The included breakfast was a homemade delicious home made breakfast, from French toast maracuya to shakshouka.
You can see and taste the care and love. We stayed in the Moroccan tents with jacques, it was a dream!!! .
- Wedly (10/5): - Everything about this property was memorable. I’ll definitely make a repeat trip here. The owner was a WhatsApp’s message away with every request that came up.
- Jackniel (10/5): Very beautiful view and good food - Very good breakfast and excellent service from the manager sindi who was aware of all of us, the staff yoshi and Sissi recommended the Caribbean chicken as a main course that was delicious just like the patacones with tuna!!! Very delicious margaritas!!
- nuria (10/5): - The property and accommodations are really nice! The staff is great! Thanks!
- Farah (8/5): Great hotel- reccomend! - Lovely hotel with super friendly staff! The lodges give you a feeling of camping and being closer to the nature while being safe.
The restaurant and the bar were really delicious too!
The manager- Sindy was super helpful and considered towards our needs and requests. Would have been nice to have breakfast options to choose from. We basically had the same dish every morning with a different presentation :) However, it did taste good!
The jacuzzi was a nice addition too, but the water was not heated, so we couldn’t really use it.
- Lyoussi (10/5): Most amazing stay in Costa Rica - Went all over costa rica for 2 weeks and I have to say Casa Lamia was our favorite stay.
We were blown away.
They had just reopened their restaurant which was absolutely delicious. We met Lamia which was so kind and loving and made us taste some new dishes she was working on.
You can feel the warmth of this place and the love they put into every single thing.
They upgraded us one night to the tent with jaccuzzi which was absolutely spectacular.
Thank you for Casa Lamia for an amazing stay we cant wait to go back! Loved everything
- Holly (7/5): Nice place! - The room was amazing, breakfast was delicious It was a little far from the beach
- Viktoriya (2/5): Very poor - Despite having zero trust in this place, the staff was very friendly, there was a night security guard, and the rooms were cleaned inside every day. The beach is quite a hike down (10 minutes maybe) and a very steep uphill climb on the way back. The WiFi worked well almost the entire time. SCAM. NOT WORTH PRICE. We stayed here for a few nights under the impression there would be a restaurant, but only when we got there were we informed that the restaurant is closed (only breakfast) and has been for a while. The bungalows are either a room inside the restaurant (thankfully the restaurant was closed because there is a huge gap in the door) or a literal tent that leaks when it rains. The outdoor “balcony” was a net with iguana poop that never got cleaned. This place also posts obviously fake reviews on Google with one review including a mirror selfie of an actual person that works there. I would not trust this place based on all of the fake reviews. You can see the most recent fake ones review the restaurant food when the restaurant has been closed for a while!! I wish we could have cancelled, but they do not refund at all.
- Gisele (10/5): A little piece of paradise for our honeymoon - Casa Lamia completely exceeded our expectations. As we arrived we were greeted with homemade coco loco cocktails. So fresh and delicious, they also gave us some cold scented towels to clean ourselves.
Everything in this place is so thoughtful. The staff was wonderful and extremely attentive, you could tell they genuinely enjoyed being there.
We booked the sultana tent with the private Jacuzzi, it was an absolutely gorgeous room, they have fruits and a bottle of champagne waiting for us to celebrate our honeymoon.
The food at the restaurant was delicious. There is a beautiful secluded beach 5 minutes from the hotel.
I highly recommend Casa Lamia, it's a real gem. It's on a hill with a gorgeous sunset, it is secluded so it does get pretty quiet.
- Marie012345 (10/5): A Stunning and Serene Escape in Costa Rica - This spot is a total hidden gem in Manuel Antonio. The hospitality was second to none. The breakfasts each morning were one better than the next. The room was stunning, chic, and brand new with really comfortable beds. The hotel was a quick walk to the beach which was so remote and stunning and the restaurant at the hotel was wonderful. Highly recommend!
- Karan (10/5): - A beautiful stay with lots to do around
- Anthony (10/5): - This was our twelfth anniversary and we wanted to do something really special and Casa Lamia’s was it!
The staff first welcomed us with a fully decorated room, a bottle of champagne and a welcoming sign wishing us a happy anniversary.
Make sure you book in advance!
We were lucky to not only experience their beautifully spacious Bungalows but we also booked a few days in their exclusive Luxury Tent rooms fit with your own private jacuzzi overlooking the rainforest.
Each morning we were able to eat the included breakfast by the Jacuzzi.
The Air Conditioning (which is always important to me) kept the room nice and cold.
The water pressure was excellent as well!
The restaurant was amazing, the best we had throughout our entire stay in Costa Rica and as foodies, we really appreciate the fresh ingredients and five star presentation!
The sunsets overlooking the ocean From the elevated view are a dream and the specialized drinks just make for the perfect end to every day.
We were able to take a brisk walk to what was basically private beach and uber 5 minutes into the city of Quepos or to the big beaches in Manuel Antonio where you can do horseback riding, parasailing or just relax on a beach chair and order a light lunch.
We are already planning on coming back for our thirteenth anniversary!
- Marie (10/5): A Trip I’ll Never Forget - Casa Lamia is 10/10 - My stay was unreal. The service was so friendly, warm and accommodating. The room was spacious and stunning. We were a quick walk from the beach and Casa Lamia’s restaurant was fabulous - the dishes and drinks were amazing! breakfast was always new each day and so delicious. Can’t wait for an excuse to go back! The stay was amazing from start to finish.
- Reimagining (10/5): - They decorated the room beautiful to propose to my girlfriend. The moroccan tent with jacuzzi was spectacular and service was outstanding.
I’m vegan and they made all dishes and breakfast vegan for me. Outstanding customer service.
Highly recommend!
- Melody (10/5): Just an amazing stay. Room was beautiful with the jacuzzi. Service was excellent. Drinks were waiting for us when we got - The room with jacuzzi was amazing Loved everything about the place. Would def go back.
- Dyana (10/5): Amazing Bungalow and Jacuzzi, Amazing Food and Drinks, AMAZING PLACE! - The private Bungalow with our own Jacuzzi overlooking the rain forest was amazing!
We also got breakfast delivered to our room as part of the booking, which we had while enjoying our Jacuzzi.
The sunset was majestic and we could take a quick uber ride to the heart of Quepos or to the Beach in Manuel Antonio!
The food and drinks are delicious and the presentation is like nothing we’ve seen in Costa Rica and this is our fourth time here.
We were also able to walk to a secluded beach which is also an added bonus.
- Anthony (10/5): Relaxing, sultry, breathtaking and most of all fulfilling! - The property offered everything we could’ve possibly wanted from an experience in Costa Rica.
A warm inviting atmosphere surrounded by the natural Beauty of the rain forest.
Wild horses roam the area and will even accompany you during the breathtaking sunset over the ocean that can be viewed from the one of a kind seating that Casa Lamias elevation provides.
This is our second time to the property.
We were lucky to book the exclusive Sultana Luxury Tent with our own private Jacuzzi.
The Air conditioned was amazing and the design is unique. It gives you the rustic feel you want with the modern comforts you’d expect!
The first room we stayed in was one of the Bungalows which had access to a unique mesh terrace where you’re accompanied by friendly Iguanas with a picturesque view overlooking the forest.
The Food and drinks are top notch and the presentation is by far the best we’ve had in Costa Rica.
The entrance and the Beautiful artwork that adorns the restaurant and bar area gives it a really dynamic feel even as you’re walking up to the property.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs! - I wish I could give this hotel zero stars. From the moment we arrived, it was a nightmare. We found blood stains on our bath towel, which is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. As if that wasn’t bad enough, in the middle of the night, someone tried to break into our room. It was terrifying and left us feeling completely unsafe.
To make matters worse, the balcony reeked of sewage, making it impossible to enjoy any fresh air. When we raised these serious concerns with the staff, their only solution was to offer us a dinner—as if that could make up for the horrific experience we endured.
I cannot stress this enough: avoid this place at all costs! It’s unsafe, unsanitary, and completely unprofessional.
- Rafael (4/5): - This place was not finished, under construction and falsely advertised as 4 stars. There was noisy construction throughout the day on Sunday it started at 7:00am. The room walls were incredibly thin, and we could hear all the restaurant conversations in the room until late at night. The water stopped running after about 30 seconds of showering. Many of the things in the hotel were cheaply made. For example, the faucet handle fell off, the curtains did not fully cover the windows, and the sheets were cheap material. The WiFi was unreliable, constantly on and off.
In the morning there was no running water, and we had to brush our teeth with bottled water.
When complained to the owner, she became upset.
The place has nice views and great potential but the execution and management are poor.
- Maya (6/5): - Our stay at Casa Lamia was definitely not what we were expecting. I'll start with the pros:
- The view from the restaurant is beautiful and the private beach (though it required a short drive plus a downhill hike) is magical.
- The staff was nice and even offered us complimentary laundry service.
- You can tell they put a lot of thought into the design of the rooms and restaurant area - it's unique and adds to the ambiance.
The cons:
- We didn't realize this but Casa Lamia is not a hotel - there's no lobby or check in area. It's just a restaurant with some rooms attached.
- The day we checked in the floors of the room were seriously dirty. We took some photos of our feet after a few steps barefoot and it was intolerable. There were hairs on the toilet, in the shower, and on the sheets as well. We had to ask them to clean again, which they did the following day.
- The water only works half of the time. Sometimes the toilet doesn't flush, the sink doesn't have water, and the shower doesn't either. We couldn't shower the morning of our checkout because there was no water at all. The manager just shrugged it off as "the Costa Rican experience" but we haven't seen this anywhere else.
All in all we probably wouldn't come back here but wanted to write this review in case it could help anyone else when making a decision.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was big, amazing view to the mountains.m
- Gauthier (2/5): Chaotic stay but food at the restaurant was nice - View The rooms are spruced up in the photos but reality is very different. Personally not worth the money
- Elisa (10/5): Luxury meets nature - Beautiful resort, amazing staff, delicious food, and great value for the price. The staff was extremely attentive and made sure I had a great time during my stay. I will be sure to visit again next year!
