Yu-lang (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Tangara Arenal. I booked the bungalow option, and it was a great choice. The bungalow was surrounded by plants and trees, with outdoor seating perfect for relaxing or reading while it rained—and when it rains, it pours! The metal roof made the sound of the rain noticeable, but I found it soothing, like white noise. We visited during the wet season and had the usual afternoon showers, but it never bothered us. The room was spacious, with a smart TV, mini fridge, and work area. Even with another bungalow nearby, we barely saw or heard anyone. The hotel is easy to find on the main road to town. You’ll need a car or taxi to get around, but since we had a car, it was simple. Breakfast was included and served plated at the on-site restaurant—we ate there daily and also enjoyed dinner one evening. The food was tasty. The location felt safe and quiet, with a police station just a short distance away. The only area for improvement is the shower. The handheld showerhead didn’t have a holder, and there wasn’t space to set toiletries. Adding a mount and some shelving would make it more comfortable. Overall, this hotel offers great value, a peaceful atmosphere, and convenient access to activities. I’d definitely recommend it.

Sandra (10/5): - Lovely property, spacious rooms, beautiful landscaping and an excellent on-site restaurant which is not owned by the hotel, but independently operated. We ate breakfast there every mornng, and one evening had dinner there. Great food each time. Owner very kind and helpful. Mades left beautiful towel scupltures on our beds every day which was a delightful surprise. Would definitely stay here again.
Holly (8/5): - For the price, it was a comfortable room and I enjoyed the breakfast. The bathroom could use some storage/shelves and the shower was difficult to use. We had to google how to use it! To get hot water the water pressure needs to be down low. You couldn’t stand under a stream of water as there was no holder for the shower head on the wall any higher than waist level. The location is a close drive to restaurants and shops, but not really walkable. There was a fair amount of road noise. The staff were helpful and I enjoyed having paid laundry service available.
Ana (10/5): - I loved the bathroom space and bedroom very beautiful greenery and windows in our room the breakfast alone has us all amazed thank you soo much for being so helpful with helping us book our tour for the day they have soo many options and helpful suggestions thank you all for a magical stay the only things I would suggest would be to have an actual reception bathroom or at least one for more then 1 person at a time and also the pot holes coming in and out 😅 other then this very high maintenance suggestion I would recommend this place to anyone
Mark (10/5): - My husband and I enjoyed our stay in a bungalow at Hotel Tangara Arenal. The bungalow was beautifully furnished with everything we needed and the lush tropical trees surrounding it gave us privacy. We felt like we were on our own private retreat. For our free breakfast, the Tangara offered a breakfast menu with several great choices. We were really impressed with that! We also ate at the restaurant the first night and the seafood pasta was excellent. We had a great experience at the Hotel Tangara Arenal and would definitely stay here again.

The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed listening to and watching all of the birds that visited. The restaurant on the premises was amazing, and we enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and our room was spacious and clean. We would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Amy (10/5): A lovely stay. - This is a very simple and beautiful hotel. We stayed in one of the casitas/bungalows and it was just lovely. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and staff were all warm and friendly. This is not a fancy hotel, but it was just perfect for us. Cute towel animals greeted us every day.

Pavel (10/5): Fit for family stay - We booked family room, which was spacious, comfy big beds. The only small issue was with loose shower water tap. We especiall, enjoyed breakfasts and dinner in the garden and professional and nice staff.
Peter (8/5): - Lovely property that is well maintained. The staff was exceptional. Rooms were clean and cool. We stayed in the casitas. Dining was delicious and had wonderful staff. The location was close to a main road, so the traffic noise was noticeable. There was also a disco down the road that was popular and had exuberant music that one could hear. We appreciated not being in the heart of the town as there was little traffic congestion. We would recommend the property to anyone who would enjoy a multi-cultural and authentic experience of Costa Rica. We sure did!

The housekeeping would make beautiful art with the towels when they cleaned the room. Every time was a different animal. So creative and talented. I took pictures of all of them. The entire grounds are well kept and clean. We enjoyed a nice breakfast every morning in the Bamboo restaurant. Which started serving dinner before we left. A delicious menu. Wonderful staff. Great location. Walking distance into town. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

Judith (6/5): - We booked the room from Expedia, when we arrived we received a tiny match box room, we went back to the property manager and he upgraded the room to a bungalow room, had to add $150.00 more, breakfast was from 7:00 to 9:00, I arrived at 9:00 am they refused to provide us with a cup of coffee. Beware of what you book before you book and before you arrive, it felt like a bait and switch, and the area is not the best!

The room was clean. The gardens are beautiful and we saw many birds, hummingbirds and flowers. We also enjoyed the pool.

Quiet part of town but just 2 minute drive to the town square. Unless you stay at an elite resort and pay five times the rate I venture to say you won’t find better.
