Guest Reviews
- Eduardo (10/5): Sin duda vale la pena - Muy espacio y tenia todo lo necesario Excelente ubicación, metro cerca. Bajo nivel de ruido siendo central.
- Nazneen (10/5): Great Stay in Joy Homes! - So a kitchen was available to make a breakfast with many shops around us to accommodate us with anything we needed. This apartment is in the heart of the CBD just 2 roads away where you will find the most beautiful shops and clothing and eating places. So for location I give it a 10 out of 10 and if you cannot afford a 5 star hotel in Egypt then this apartment is absolutely wonderful and comfortable to stay in for real value for money!. The cleaning staff was so kind and always helpful and the owner made sure we were comfortable evreyday by assisting with whatever we asked for. Thank you for a great stay, and for being so kind and accommodating to us! Nothing

- skrfamily (7/5): It was ok for the price you pay - I loved the area. I loved the energy. The staff who attended the site later in the day was very nice and helpful. Rooms were ok and clean. Not big flat but we managed for a family of 5.
Would we stay again. May be, all depends how much you pay you will get. I stayed with their joy homes named as royal apartment and yes I paid more but it was far better than this.
Cleaning lady and floor Watchman and kids were very nice...
Thank you Mohammed for sorting it out So I don't go negative normally but wanted to share my experience.
This was my last stay in 14 days out of 4 hotels.
I booked it for 4 nights checking in at 7-8am early in the morning but I booked my room 1 day extra to have smooth check in.
All in contact with host and greeting message that someone will be there to greet you.
No one was there we had a lady cleaner who came later to let us into the apartment. Host was not available until 12pm..anyways we moved in.
Found challenged after challenges.
No kitchen water, no microwave, kitchen sink was rusty old. Mattresses were very old that you lay down and you will feel the springs.
Also in booking we mentioned 5 people and we got bed for 4 people. So I have asked to sort this from host. He says he will sort it at 12. Which means my extra day I paid was will be waster with restlessness and I have to move somewhere again.
Anyways someone come knocking on door 2 hours later and had a Look and showed me another apartment which was same.
Anyways in the end they had given me another apartment which had all the things needed almost. Thank you for sorting it out.
I would suggest that main bed room needs a headboard and might be fitted sheets because every move sheet on the bed tangled.
On the bathroom shower need a curtain one shower and whole floor is wet which means any shoes comes out will be wet.
Kitchen basics you are giving gas stove, fridge couple of plates and cups so why not give a washing liquid and sponge.
WiFi was ok with speed some time works sometime don't my Vodafone works better.
Bathroom window when opens everyone in the next building can see you what you are up to. So you can't really open the window.
These are suggestions for improving and helping others if they are ok to manage these issues then go for it. We managed and happy but should be better experience for us.
- Lucian (9/5): Great place would come back - Good location, friendly property host, large apartment, nice beds and simple kitchen. No toilet paper included in bathroom.
- Karl (10/5): -
- David (2/5): - Real nice and helpful staff. But no hot water and dark hall (no lightbulbs). Lots of good potential but generally run down.
- Света (7/5): - The location is convenient, with a main square nearby, great restaurants, and the main bazaar of Cairo nearby. The house and apartments are not new, but they are a good value for the money.
- Abu (9/5): Most Authentic Stay You’ll Get in Cairo - One of the best properties we’ve stayed in in a long time! The host was very hospitable and kind. She provided us with a microwave and pan on the first day when we asked for it. The rooms are big with high ceilings. The balcony is spacious and beautiful. We loved seeing people pray in the street. The neighbours in the building are very friendly, especially the kids downstairs who loved playing cards with me! Don’t be scared away by the entrance of the building and the lift, most buildings in Cairo look like this as they’re old. I personally love the architecture - it looks rich in history. Also I don’t know what noise people are complaining about. We slept in peace throughout our stay except for Friday night when there was partying going on all night. The location is ideal for shopping and visiting landmarks. I met some beautiful people in the neighbourhood and hope to visit again some day. Unfortunately the mattresses are terrible, please replace them. Also wifi is hit and miss.

- Kremena (7/5): - Location in the heart of Cairo. Hosts very very helpfull-organised taxi and called for me the airport for my lost luggage. Rooms very spacious, beds comfortable, linen clean. The building itself and whole property quite worn out, but so you can see how people there live!!!

- Alrasheed (10/5): - Everything is great
- Sarah (7/5): Convenient centrally located apartment - Great location, very central. Excellent staff. Mohra was really helpful and got in touch asking what we needed and came round to check we had everything. The apartment was a good size, and on the quiet side of the building. The balcony was nice and shaded and the wifi and air conditioning worked well. The apartment was tricky to find as the entrance is round the back of the building. Mohra got someone to come and find us, however we were panicking for a while! I'd suggest making a video to share on WhatsApp in advance showing the route from Abou Tarek koshary (easy to find) for guests who may not have phone credit. The apartment was quite dusty and everything a bit more dated and shabby than the photos. Shower and bath not very good, plug not working and couldn't shower standing up as water went everywhere.

- Mohammed (10/5): -
- Antoni Albert (1/5): It was terrible. - It is not in the location they had said. It does not have a reception or anything of the sort. It's an apartment in an old building full of garbage, debris and abandoned cats. It is really bad. I only slept there the first night and the next morning I found a hotel in the area and moved out.

- Ifti (3/5): Poor - Location Nobody was there when we arrived except a guard who was unaware of our arrival. At first he told us your booking is from tomorrow and come back the next day after 12 noon. After showing him our booking details and arrival time he called someone who came and took our passport photos and handed over the apartment. He didn't tell us who he is and was not really welcoming at that time of the morning.
- Ahmad (4/5): I was very very very disappointed when I got there - People were nice. Close to money shops. The place looks nothing like the pictures. Beds are bad. Walls dirty. Bad wifi. Its nowhere close to being a hostel. The kitchen is useless. Washing machine useless. Dont want anybody to feel the same as what I felt when I saw the place. Especially that you have to pay in advance. Waste of money

- RedRose212 (2/5): HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE - False depiction of the property and n the website. The apartment appears to be in a nice area and clean. IT IS A DUMP.
The area is disgusting, the lobby is disgusting and the apartment, 44, is disgusting. A large volume of roaches crawl from an opening in a pipe in the bathroom. Water comes through the bathroom floor and I was always mopping the water. The paint on the bathroom door was cracked and peeling. There is no security chain on the apartment door. There is one chain that hangs down. Paint is peeling from the hallway walls. Dogs are barking loud, people are talking loud and music is playing loud from sunset to sunrise. There is no WiFi as a result I could not get tv channels or WiFi on my cellphone. Do Not Go There.
- Avijit (9/5): Superb - The location was a bit difficult to find as it's inside the streets but it's in the main location where vibrant markets and shops are only 100 meters from the property. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The lady who assisted us was also very nice. She made sure we were well settled and often messaged us on WhatsApp to check about our stay. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay here.

- Chengbin (10/5): Exceptional - Neat rooms and very clean . location is very central right in middle of Cairo
- Zi (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-designed accommodations in a fantastic location, providing a great stay with excellent convenience and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Yarub (10/5): Exceptional - great location and friendly staff
- Mahmoud (5/5): Passable - Location is fantastic and the apartment is good to stay with family First of all, whatever they mentioned in the facilities in booking.com ,there are lack of facilities such as Slippers, soaps, hanging racks etc.... are Missing and wifi isn't connected in 3rd floor directly, if u are in 3rd floor, you have to share with other floors wifi which isn't connected to your phone and TV,even you informed the staff , they will say we will inform our manager and we will fix it but till we check out , no one came to fix😁😁 for the mattress, you will get back pain after you wake up .
- Itoe (9/5): Superb - Excellent communication on WhatsApp with Farah who arranged Taxi a couple of times, she was the best person I had met in 5 days in Egypt. You can trust her and count on her. Good location. The windows don't close completely or even they do, still lots of wind come in so it's cold in February. It's in very old building but guess it's maybe like this in Egypt.
- Tanvir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janerie (8/5): Very good - There are a lot of shops around.
The place is clean.
There is a washing machine.
Abou Tarek is very close.
Nada is very responsive and tried to help out the best she can. I know it was in the heart of downtown but I didnt expect the traffic is very bad within the area.
An availability of bath math or rug to wipe our foot after taking showers with be nice.
We had issues with the internet which wasn't fixed after a day or two. Apparently, one of the tenants in other unit resetted the router thus we lost connection.
I think it would be great if you add maps or gps location once booking is confirmed. Place is a bit difficult to find. Photos would be great too.q
- Saeeda (1/5): poorly maintained hotel in a rundown area, with no proper reception and dirty, unwashed bedding. The shower had no water - Nothing. Only the two girls farah and someone else were ok in terms of trying to be helpful but they only try and nothing else is in their hands as they are only admin/ booking. They will try to get your message to owners but nothing will get done. Absolutely disgusting. In a run down slum type area where there’s car workshops. No reception area, located inside a worn down brothel type building. Very dark and scary. So called Reception was a bench with kids sitting. After check out we left luggage and came back to collect luggage and noticed the same bedding and fleece blankets just folded back up/ not washed for next guests. Even with us, the bedding seemed to be accumulated with dust and the shower had no water. Nobody even came to fix after the admin girls contacted. Rooms aren’t as shown in pictures. Don’t even book this place for 1pence. The lift is scary and you can smell loads of damp.
According to my 8 year old child “ why is it called joy homes, when you don’t even enJOY it?”. Circled pic below is the entrance and the bench is the so called reception and the people who watch the place stay in the flat next to bench.
- Miyoung (10/5): Exceptional - Cheerful stay very near to Egyptian museum and all attractions
- Bajesh (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location near the Egyptian Museum. Clean and comfortable apartment.
- Andrés (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome rooms and spacious and location right in centre of cairo
- Sabine (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful apartment in very good location
- Muhammed (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable stay, great location, helpful staff.
- Amr (8/5): Very good -
- Gehad (1/5): Liar host - Everything was very bad, the picture it tooo different than the reality , i arrived at 1:00 pm to check in they told me the appartement is not ready , you can go and back after one hour
The beds was so bad , not clean everything was disgusting … never try it again !! Everything was disgusting
- Mehmet (5/5): Location good - Location good and near to shopping.
Thanks to Amira She support us from AirPort to Apartment İts too old, furnishing old,at january night time litle could, windows cant close well and Blankets not so clean
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Very well located in city center
- Chang (8/5): Recommending this apartment for a quiet place to sleep in the center of downtown - It’s located in a quiet backstreet behind Abu Tarek. I barely heard the normal noise from the street. The apartment has a old washer and it’s fully manual but I have done my laundry there. Hairdryer is also provided so I was able to get a good shower in the apartment. The lift looks very old school and scary. But I think it’s common in most places in Cairo. There’s also not enough plug points for phone charging and they are located in some weird location far from the bed. The heating system is not working so it’s quite cold at night but it’s ok for me since we were just 2 and used all the blankets from other beds. The hot water ran out quite fast too so we had to wait for it to get hot again.
- Changdae (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy spaces with exceptional hospitality. Perfect stay!
- Rola (1/5): horrible and scam - nothing The overall experience was horrible, unsafe, and a huge shock for us. In reality, this property has no relation with the description nor the photos posted on booking.com. The area where this property is located sounds like an industrial zone, with many mechanical car garages around, so noisy, unsafe, and hard to reach. The building where the property is located was too old, unclean, and unsafe; the elevator was too old with very bad maintenance. I could not imagine for a second that we were safe either in this zone, the surroundings, or the building or the people who live in it. It was a real disaster and scam. The flat was smelly, with mold; the furniture was too old with broken parts; the walls were full of scratches; the toilet was too old and unsafe as it had electricity wires around the walls. This property had no relation with the photos posted on booking.com. We could not stay for 5 minutes in this flat. We complained to the property owner, who, when we showed her the photos posted on booking.com, agreed that it is totally different from reality and stated that she knows nothing about these photos and it is the first time she sees them. We had to cancel this booking, aiming that the property owner will consider our complaints and the situation we are in; however, once the owner realized that the payment was 100% done from our side, they stopped responding to us, nor were they understanding and positive towards this complaint. final advice: check carefully when you do a booking, don't do 100% payment in advance, and don't ever go for this property.
