Guest Reviews
- Yanque (10/5): It was worth every dollar spent I totally enjoyed my stay the staff is exceptional - The rooms were clean n well kept , I absolutely adored the pool area the view is perfect
- Gina (6/5): Relaxing but below expectations - The restaurant staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful. They made the holiday The housekeeping needed work. Our room was not cleaned the first day, on the second day when they did clean it they took the bath mats and hand towels but did not put in clean ones. The restaurant facilities are not up to expectations and the lunch and dinner buffets were just OK. The exception was the service and food in the Steak House - that was excellent.
- Jizelle (6/5): Very hot the room snelkervlihe mildew - The room Ac was broken and stayed on 23 Celsius. Called every night and nothing was done. They did send someone and he put it to 22 and it went back to 34 Celsius.
- Jeremy (6/5): -
- Creseta (10/5): Very peaceful and relaxing! Will definitely return - Scenery! Butler Rashad was Amazing!! Water wasn’t the hottest
- Alexis (10/5): - Everything was Amazing
- Refiloe (9/5): Paradise for family trip - Beautiful resort with marble and wood decor in the rooms. Pools were amazing, especially the quiet one near building 5. Restaurants were excellent as well.
The best part was the staff working there. We were traveling with a 7 month old and he was treated so well from the moment we arrived. I genuinely cannot think of a complaint Everything was great

- amy (8/5): It is is pretty far from everything if you like to venture off but it is really nice - The property was very nice, well kept and had everything we needed! We didn’t have a beach connected to the resort you had to walk past the resort and then down a flight of stairs to a plain beach with little to no beach and no pretty scenery
- Karen Lynsey (4/5): - Could have been much better. Not much food option and large site didn’t really live up to promises on entertainment etc The tiles - fell over morning one on the slippy tiles - was put in a cast so never got to see the beach (couldn’t get down the steps) or swim.
- Tovera (10/5): - It was quite and all of the staff was friendly. No beach access.
- Tola (8/5): Had a great time. Would highly recommend - I was a little apprehensive prior to my stay due to the negative reviews but myself and my partner were very pleasantly surprised.
The food was AMAZING. I’m not sure what the other reviews were talking about but the food was so delicious. We couldn’t stop eating here! We tried all the restaurants and loved each one. The buffet was probably our favourite.
The drinks service at Castleview was a little slow but apart from that, no complaints.
The rooms were stunning, very lush. The view from our room of the sea was *chef’s kiss*. I would highly recommend this resort.
The cocktails were really good too. Not watered down or stingy with alcohol. No complaints there either.
Our room was cleaned daily and fridge restocked.
The grab-and-go is also very clutch when you just want a quick drink or bite.
Sam Lord’s Grill was nice and tasty. I had the shrimp taco mainly.
The Lantern Bar was our favourite ! The staff were great vibes and ensured we had a great time. The music at the pools/bars is a mix of different genres which is a good vibe. Apart from our first night, the shower water was never warm. Mostly cold or lukewarm at best. You can imagine this isn’t great if you’re someone who doesn’t like cold showers
The daily resort itinerary seemed very lit but because there weren’t many other guests around , the activities weren’t really fulfilled. It would have been livelier if there were activities throughout our stay but I can say that the staff did try their best with live performances each night and some pool volleyball and karaoke.
The staff were mainly friendly but a few here and there seemed a bit blunt and dismissive.
- Philip (3/5): Very disappointing, I would avoid - The rooms are very nice and spacious, comfortable beds and nice views. The hotel has the infrastructure to be the 5* hotel as advertised Our stay was very disappointing, this is a 5* hotel run as a 2*, firstly the food is very poor quality, poor choice, they ran out of everyday items frequently, flies on the buffet food, poor execution of cooking, two of the four restaurants closed, leaving only the buffet and one other restaurant open, luckily we only stayed 2 nights. The staff are very disinterested, they lack the basic customer service skills, everything feels like a chore, the service is a long way short of a 5* hotel. The beach is a no go zone, months of seaweed has been left to pile up, which leaves a very potent smell wafting around the hotel. The hotel grounds are scruffy, lacking attention to detail. This hotel is clearly being run on a budget to save on costs at the expense of the customers experience, I read the hotel is up for sale, perhaps this explains the attitude of the staff and quality of service and options provided at the hotel, it’s a real shame.
- Denise (1/5): -
- Roshny (3/5): - Cleaniness and Comfortable room Far from everything , and very unfriendly staff!
- John (9/5): -
- Shaquana (1/5): HORRIBLE - Nothing Everything. The food was nasty, the staff wasnt pleasant, the resort was corny it really didn’t have much going on and it was far from everything. Also and for it to be a resort that only been there for 3 years it wasn’t clean. It was alot of rust all through the hotel on the doors the elevators it was rusted and look old and nasty. The room was bare they cleaned it a lil it wasn’t fully cleaned. I would come to Barbados again but I will never come to that resort or recommend it to anyone
- Miguel (10/5): - Food was great. All inclusive was breakfast. Lunch and dinner unlimited drinks was a wonderful experience.
- Bree (4/5): Setting was lovely, food was decent, basically no customer service and it really put a damper on the stay. Would not rec - Beautiful rooms Staff was not helpful or friendly except for a few outliers.
- Ajisafe (10/5): 10/10 would go again. - Clean, well looked after and they are always trying to do activities and shows during the night The location - not many beaches that side of the island
- SUSAN (4/5): -
- Timmy (9/5): -
- Tequana (9/5): Other than that one hiccup i can’t say more. Maybe a little more entertainment - It was beautiful and clean. The food was amazing along with the staff No good food after 9:30. I went to bed hungry a couple nights. I managed to sneak food back one night lol but there was no microwave so i was still hungry
- Cezary (9/5): -
- Bethan (5/5): -
- Bob (5/5): This place is not that great - I liked the updated rooms, but when we turned on the air conditioner it smelled like smoke. The check-in counter service was apathetic, every restaurant was a buffet and the food was not great.
- Black (1/5): Disappointed in customer service - Beaches Staff!!! Hotel room had broken AC and extremely disorganized and unhelpful staff
- Susan (2/5): Not good. - Cleanliness, food, service and location could have been better. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere and the only way to get to a town is by taxi which is about $40.00 each way. No sundry or gift shops on the property. Need more restaurants. Some of the staff were helpful and lovely, others somewhat surly.
- Johnette (9/5): -
- Aleem (8/5): -
- Anne (9/5): Great experience, would definitely recommend. Would definitely come back. - Loved everything. N/A.
- Lauren (5/5): Idem vorige recensies - All in Personeel niet erg gemotiveerd
Vooral aan de receptie
- Salim (8/5): -
- Anush (4/5): Security risk at night as room could not locked from patio doors side. Room was ground floor also. - Breakfast and location were wonderful. Room maintenance was very poor. A/c didn’t work properly, patio doors could not be locked at night as they were broken.
- Ishwar singh (4/5): Advertised as a 5* but in reality a 3* - Cleanliness facilities
- Romy (8/5): Good location, plenty of food and drink - All inclusive so good food and drink. Calm friendly staff. Good location. Entertainment was really good in the restaurant with the steel band and lady in the bar Slow in responding to requests and our room was not made up one day. We went to the CastleView restaurant once but weren’t told that we needed to book early for the next day. Although it’s on the beach, too much seaweed to swim
- Liliana (7/5): -
- Amir (8/5): -
- Frank (5/5): Not a 5 star experience. - Our suite was excellent and the Butler service first class. However, we were disappointed with the main restaurant buffet both for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was not to the standard we expected of a 5 star hotel. Service was also not so good in this restaurant. We had dinner one evening in the Castle View restaurant which was much more acceptable in terms of quality and service. We also did not like the very loud music and attempts to create a party atmosphere. It seemed the hotel was aiming mainly to please young people and attract outside visitors to its "extravaganza" events.
- Kate (7/5): The resort had an amazing staff from the people who clean to the assistant manager!! - The view from our room and the resort itself was breath taking! The staff were all amazing and friendly! It was nice that the resort was spacious which made it not difficult to find a table at meals or chairs while at the pool. The room was a great size and the bathroom was spacious. The room had many different lighting options to be exactly what you needed. The pastries in the case at the coffee bar were delightful and a treat. We enjoyed the food at all the different locations. Overall, we had a pleasant experience but there were some minor issues that added up. The first issue was missing ingredients. We would order a drink off the menu and would be told they were out of an ingredient, i.e. tonic water, strawberry for a daiquiri, sweet vermouth, grapefruit, French vanilla to make a French vanilla coffee, etc. Another issue was confusion with coffee at breakfast. Some staff would take a coffee order at the table and it would take so long that we would be finished with breakfast before the order would show up. At times, we would also go up to the coffee bar to order and again it would take longer than 10 mins while the barista was making two coffees at a time using a Nespresso Machine that you put in a pod and push a button. When food ran out at the buffet, it would take awhile to replace, if it got replaced. A minor issue with the lighting in the room was knowing what switch worked for what light. If the lights could be labeled that would be helpful. The map seemed disingenuous. The map said there was an Indian restaurant and Lucy's lounge that were not open. It also stated that there were six pools when in actuality there were three pool areas plus one at the spa that only people paying for the spa could use. I understand the resort doesn't have control over this, but it would have been great if the beach was swimmable.
- roberto (1/5): Worst Ever - BRANCH AT THE CASTHE RESTAURANTE WAS OK Check point Staff and Manager very bad atitude
Room Clean up very poor
Cocaeraches on bed
towells like sand paper
no room service at all
front desk never respond the calls
Consergerie very bad
ROOM SMELLS LIKE A TOILET ALL THE TIME
RESTAURANTE SELF SERVISE, VERY BAD
CAN KEEP ON GOING BUT ??????????????????????/
- Bree (4/5): Nice property but mostly everyone who works there was unpleasant. - Beautiful rooms. Employees (with a bright few exceptions) were uninterested, surly, mean and bothered if you asked for something.
- Searles-Mesidor (9/5): Overall we enjoyed the stay. - I Limited access to the beach. No gift shop on the facility. Limited access to transportation.
- Ward-Burke (9/5): Great resort - The food was great and room was clean. It was quiet good to relax The beach on site it not one to swim in. The shuttle is limited travel per day
- Adele (5/5): - The visual esthetics were beautiful. The ocean view was lovely. The 3 pools were all different and relatively clean. Some of the staff were friendly and professional. In particular the staff at Sam Lords Castle restaurant. The managers and supervisors were great. Overall, it was disappointment and we got a great deal. I can't imagine paying full price. The visuals esthetics were 5 star but that is about it. Serious practical and operational issues. Cleanliness was horrible. Parts of the hotel were filthy. The 3 rooms I was in over my total 16 days, were all on the way to being 2 star fast. Beautiful stone floors etc had horrible grout work so it is looking bad and now missing so will be leaking soon in bathrooms. The nice glass shower doors are not fitted properly so it leaks outside and sometimes flooded toilet closet. The shower door hinges had big holes in design?? Not sure who's design idea that was.
Wrt Cleanliness and housekeeping... they need a checklist and training . Everyday they forgot to refill something. Seems they only made the bed and only cleaned if you specifically requested.
Wrt the Grill restaurant- horrible. Filthy. Cold food. Slow unfriendly service . Mediterranean restaurant buffet. The best was sushi. Professional and trained. Wrt buffet... most of time food was cold and tasteless. Staff unfriendly and unprofessional. They need to be trained by professionals.
Operational management needs to be trained. February 14th and beyond were a nightmare for everyone. No-one knew enough to have septic system emptied before high season! Wow. Someone should be fired at the top. The main restaurant was flooded!! Complete disaster for all involved.
The entire hotel is a sad situation created by being government and chinese bank financing relationship. No-one knows how to run a hotel, let alone self proclaimed 5 star. Imo it will be a 2.5 star hole in next 5 yrs unless ownership is changed and staff are professionally trained.
Wrt to reception, front desk and concierge. Horrible. All these ladies needs to find a new attitude or find a new job. Again. No professional training.
After all staff are trained they all need a raise and given prepackaged food take-home bags.
- Tracey (6/5): - Room and view Food, except at Castleview
- clameus (10/5): Overall it was a good stay - Kiana front desk staff she was amazing.. Some of the start not to friendly
- Angela (2/5): Room great service rubbish - Average all inclusive not great Room not cleaned for 2 days dirty towels left on floor
Paid for early check in room not available
Dress code in fine dining not adhered too looked like most people straight from beach and women in fluffy slippers
Had lobster size of a prawn
- Glebs (8/5): -
- Sally (1/5): -
- Richard Ward (1/5): Genuinely gutted, we wouldn't reccomend anyone to stay there - We stayed here last year twice ive stayed now, and been honest it was brilliant the first year we went then now its completely gone down hill, the restaurant was terrible, the room was dirty, no hot water, and it feels like a hotel which has only been opened a few years, will look like the castle next door, in the next 5 years. such a shame, unfortunately we won't be staying there next year. The kids loved the pool but don't all kids.
The pool bar was open but the waiters kept disappearing for an hour so was a bit pointless tbh.
- Chris (10/5): -
- Laura Keene (2/5): Low standard for a 5* hotel and staff need proper training - The room was very nice but no regular tea bags, no milk for the tea, no kettle and no hair dryer.
Toilet door did not close
Balcony was dirty Check in was terrible - almost 40 minutes and that was after completing the online check in form earlier in the day which also took about 10 mins. only 3 staff for a full lobby of guest and a terrible system with clipboards and then waiting your turn whilst others queued up and got served faster. Snappy and rude check in staff especially Josea.
Not 5* hotel standard
The restaurant was very basic for a 5* hotel. Dirty table mats and more like a cafeteria. We were shown to a table and then waited 25 mins for cutlery, glasses and napkins. We asked 3 people for them and eventually a manager brought them. You have to go to the bar to get your own water
At breakfast just 1 person making eggs and omelettes so a huge queue
The pool bar had staff wuking up to soca music creating an American cruise ship vibe.
Hotel has no atmosphere
- Janice (10/5): - The staff were welcoming and helpful, I loved the variety of pools and restaurants available and my room was exceptional.
- tessa (1/5): Terrible - It looked nice Food was bad, service was non existent. You had to ask multiple times to maybe get what you needed. They have also taken money out of our account for a no show fee when we were already checked into the hotel. I’ve been talking to someone called Shanice who is now not responding to my emails.
- Shawnee (7/5): -
- Krista (10/5): - Didn't like how we couldn't connect to the tv use Netflix or listen to music on YouTube
- Dernesia (6/5): Beautiful place, not worth the money . Too far from anything! - The scenery The lack of activities when scheduled , the up charge on traveling services
- Matthew (9/5): -
- Audrey (10/5): -
- DessiAnn (9/5): Above and beyond - Every single thing This should not be a question
- Candida (9/5): -
- Khomari (10/5): -
- Morecia (8/5): Beautiful property but far away from everything and unfriendly front desk staff. - The property was beautiful! Rooms were clean and big! The front desk staff were very unfriendly. The women were less friendly. The resort was super far away from everything we wanted to do.
- Jean (5/5): -
- tessa (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Nice looking place The service, the food, the location
- Stephanie (7/5): -
- Marina (1/5): Nie wieder!
- Thomas (7/5): Great location, poor service except for food and beverage. - Good design and easy to get around once you knew how to get to each place. The poor map handed out was quite useless and you needed to talk with individual restaurant and bar staff for good directions. Food and beverage staff were great and very helpful. Rest of staff were not. Front desk and housekeeping staff were totally useless. Waited forever to get into our room and only spotty housekeeping for 4 days. Putting the sign out on the door for refresh on the room was totally ignored and the floors were never vacuumed so dirty just accumulated. There seemed to be no organization and things requested of one of the staff would never happen and no one seemed to know what was asked for. Not like there was no staff. Six staff at one desk to process your room invoice was excessive and inefficient. Whole place needs some reorganization.

- Dovile (5/5): no recomendation - the beach but there is no possibility to go to swim the price too big
the food is about nothing
the service tragical
only a butller tried to do his best
- Jam (8/5): Relaxing and peaceful - Cleanliness, architecture, friendly staff.
- Gavin (1/5): Disappointing. - We’ve stayed 4 times now and the hotel has gone down hill since we last stayed.

- Janice (10/5): It was enjoyable - Breakfast was delicious with a variety of fruits. Being charged in US currency instead of BDS. This caused an extra foreign exchange charge.
- Shenita (10/5): Barbados is a do over( must visit agsin) for me. - The property was very clean and the staff was friendly Nothing

- Filip (4/5): Definitely Not a Five-Star Experience - Our stay at this hotel was unfortunately far below expectations, and by no standard does it qualify as a five-star property.
Staff & Service:
The staff were generally unfriendly and at times outright rude. In the restaurants, guests often had to wait a long time before anyone acknowledged them, and simple requests felt like an inconvenience to the staff.
Room & Cleanliness:
Our room was not repeatedly cleaned unless we specifically requested it, and even then the cleaning was far from thorough. Basic standards of cleanliness across the hotel were lacking, and the facilities appeared poorly maintained.
Food & Drinks:
The food and drinks were overall very average, often feeling more like a budget resort than a premium hotel. The only exception was the Castle View restaurant, which offered noticeably better food and acceptable service.
Beach:
The beach area was particularly disappointing — dirty, not maintained, and not suitable for swimming due to poor water access and consistently strong waves. It felt more like an abandoned area than a part of a luxury resort.
Value for Money:
Considering the price point, the value for money is extremely poor. The quality of service, facilities, and overall experience is nowhere near what you would expect from a five-star hotel.
In summary, this hotel fails in almost every category that defines a five-star stay. We would not return and cannot recommend it at the current standard.
- Michelle (8/5): - We were in a standard room - they are nice big rooms with lots of facilities!
Booking.com said 5 restaurants, but there are 3. Food in buffet a little bit samey, but other restaurants to break it up - quality of food is amazing! There is also a grab and go station where you can get pre-packed wraps and rolls etc.
Hotel lays on shuttle buses to Ostins, Bridgetown and Harbour Lights at Carlise Bay - you get free use of chairs and brolly included through hotel.
If the hotel is full, there doesn't seem enough public spaces... but seemed quite quiet on our trip. The beaches are a shame - cannot swim etc as really choppy and dangerous.
Location of hotel is quite out the way.
- Jamie (8/5): - Hygiene, faciliteiten Locatie was een beetje afgelegen
- Hurst (10/5): - The property was beautiful. The food was delicious. The staff was awesome.Everything was very well put together I didn't like that. There were no automations or any of the big heavy doors, but I definitely understand why
- Stephanie (8/5): A lovely hotel for a short stay but would recommend getting out and about to explore the island - Very clean property and well spaced out. Room was very lovely - modern, well laid out and everything you could need. Food was excellent with so much choice. It had rained heavily before we arrived and while we stayed. We had outside to get to our room or come to the resorts’ facilities. The walkways were all like marble slabs and it was frighteningly slippery for all guests but especially for the guests who were attending a conference which was especially for those with physical challenges.
- Alexander (10/5): Incredible staff, beautiful setting, excellent value - This hotel has the best staff I've ever encountered in hospitality. Extremely attentive and polite without being overbearing. No request was too much trouble, and everyone seemed to be genuinely enjoying their jobs. As a result the hotel had an incredible atmosphere. The Castle View restaurant was particularly memorable, as were the staff by the main pool. Absolutely nothing!
- Jamal (10/5): My stay was just absolute bliss, the staff were absolutely amazing, along with the food and the facility - The property itself was absolutely beautiful I don’t think the photos does it justice. There wasn’t anything to dislike
- Huesha (8/5): - I book this for my mom’s birthday in September for and she loved that dispute there being not to much guest on property which would be a slower period there was still so much things to do. A few Resturants were only one a few days but overall she had a great time. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. She loves each and everyone of them that went out of there way to make her birthday extra special. N/a
- Michael (4/5): Lovely looking hotel - though not a 5 star as advertised. I really hope they manage to get the problems rectified or th - The property itself was stunning - very spacious and grand The staff were very (apart from a few) ignorant and didn’t engage at all - more interested in their phones. The food was below what we would expect of a 5 star hotel - flies all over the breakfast and lunch buffet. The bathroom was very smelly all of the time we had to keep the light and fan on to stop the smell taking over the whole room. We didn’t have a change of bed linen although we stayed for 8 nights. We spoke to one of the managers who was very defensive.
- Matthew (7/5): -
- Yvonne (2/5): This trip was very basic. - The access to a pool outside my room. I got locked out of my for three days straight. The latch keep catching and I had to get help to get back in. My room key bracelet was deactivated and I was given a card as if it was my fault. The room smelt like mild dew. The buffet food choices were minimal. Only one restaurant choice that was booked except one day. There was no gift shop for snacks. Not consistent activities around the pool. I played bingo one day.
