Guest Reviews
- Dana (10/5): Clean rooms and very friendly staff - This location is ideal for San Pedro. The upgrade is worth it. The room was clean. The staff is also super helpful and very friendly. I would definitely stay here again. Nothing
- Lakesha (1/5): I'll never visit again - Nasty 🤮🤮🤮 Everything was horrible and racist
- Pozuelos (8/5): -
- Faulhafer (10/5): Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful seaside view great staff great location would absolutely - Beautiful property, beautifully upcast very quiet, even with two pools and a pool bar There’s nothing I can say that I didn’t really like
- Elena (6/5): It's ok - You have Ocean view if you pay for it and a coffee infused in your room. 30 minutes walking to the center which I like. Very close to the dive center that we were using. Just beside there is a fantastic restaurant called Gonzalo and the Princess. The mattress was too soft and the pillows too high. Water was going out while shower because there is only a curtain. No beach. Pools were not really appealing for me because surrounded by the building.
- Bivins (10/5): - Housekeeping, front desk, security, and restaurant waitress were all so accommodating, helpful and kind. Nothing
- Yilin (9/5): Fantastic hotel with sea view! - The hotel has a fantastic view to the sea, and the room is spacious. The staff was very cheering and friendly. We were mainly to participate the scuba diving tours, and the hotel is within walk-in distance to the dive shop as well as some supermarkets and restaurants. The bed was a little uncomfortable and untidy.
- trashinda (10/5): I definitely will visit again and again and also tell a friend to tell a friend. LOL! - The property is very beautiful and very clean! Nothing, literally everything was perfect and the staff was very kind and informative.
- Tracy (10/5): Yay! - Great spot right on the beach, beautiful views super comfortable room! Staff was awesome pools were fun to play in! I guess I wish that the bar was open longer, but Mata rocks next-door was great
- jose luis (10/5): - Habitacion muy limpia Todo ok
- Rachel (6/5): I didn’t really enjoy my stay. It was all right. Nothing that I expected. I would never stay at that property again. I d - Beautiful and clean The bar and restaurant close really early and then how much to offer and it’s not beautiful as in Photos
- Donna (8/5): -
- Wolf (9/5): - Excellent location
- janice (9/5): - The most softest sheets and bed. There was no walk out beach.
- Adam (7/5): good place may book again - nice place just bit far from the main strip, rent a golf kart just makes things easier away from the strip and building work at the beach
- Elizabeth (9/5): -
- Lynn (9/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Would like to go back next year. - The location was perfect , we were within walking distance to restaurants and markets and the beach was amazing. Nothing everything was good
- Kim (5/5): Pick somewhere else - Not much They gave us a room that had just been sprayed for cockroaches smelled so bad, insisted that we move, got unsprayed room. No Ice to take to our room, paid the bus boy to go off property to get us some…he was sweet. Wish they would not spray chemical freshener everywhere to cover up the mold smell. The beach was awful and if you wanted to swim in the ocean you really had to go to the wharf next door. Construction going on not very pretty landscaping.

- Lotte (7/5): -
- Nina (10/5): -
- Nat K (10/5): Great experience - Very clean and the staff was great!!! security, front desk clerk, and manager
- Carol (10/5): It was a good location for exploring and we were only there for one night. Will come back. - Location was great and the room was beautiful! Beach was a little disappointing but the pools were very nice.
- Keithroy (7/5): -
- Helbert (3/5): Unhappy. - Charges on my credit card keep appearing from them 2 days after I checked out
- Rutzz (10/5): -
- Merrill (10/5): - This was our 2nd time in San Pedro, Belize Bananas on the Beach was a great option, it’s clean, the staff is super friendly and the price is reasonable.
- Pereza (10/5): - Everything was nice!
- ANGELICA (6/5): - Good hotel
- Marley (8/5): - friendly staff
- Darren (8/5): Too short. - Third stay at Bananas, it has been pretty consistent for the most part. We did feel like the “wear and tear” is beginning to show. Really hope you guys can maintain that higher quality we’ve grown to appreciate. There was no iron.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good hotel to stay for a short term stay 1-2 days
- Anyi (10/5): - We went during slow season so there was not a lot of people around which it was okay with us. The staff was super friendly, our room was super clean.
- Jeremy (10/5): - Great property.
- Brianna (10/5): - Everything was perfect. Great location for solo travel
- Tandy (6/5): - My towels and wash rags were so dirty. Other than that my stay was fine.
- Caryn (10/5): - Great place to stay. Enjoyed the property and staff.
- Martha (3/5): I would not stay here again - I did not like the hotel and it had a stench that was so bad. They should have told us that the sea grass gathered on that side of the island this time of year. It would have made a difference in where we stayed. - Brook-lynn (10/5): Beautiful property on the beach front, within walking distance of a few great restaurants, and dive shops. Spacious room - Beautiful rooms, luxurious renovations, great location. The awful smell of sargassum and the pile up of trash in the water right along the beachside of the property .
- KaptinKirk246 (8/5): Nice San Pedro Condo Hotel - We had a wonderful stay at Bananas on the Beach. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff is friendly. The location is very convenient for diving excursions and a short cart ride into town.
- Krystofer (10/5): - Great place to stay. 100% recommend!
- Mickey (10/5): - Great property not too far from town and a great staff.
- Andrew (6/5): - Generally service needs to be improved
- Mariah (8/5): - We loved our stay and absolutely loved the restaurant. It felt like fine dining.
- Robert (8/5): - I chose the property to be close to the dive shop, and it was. Bed was comfy...staff was friendly. No dresser in our room....no shelf in the bathroom....no local TV....bring your subscription login.
- Yarlette (8/5): Very good -
- M5664JJbenh (8/5): Bananas on the Beach is a quiet, beautiful little property, in South San Pedro. - Bananas is a very clean, quite property. It's relatively new, as in renovated and updated. I've seen some poor reviews, but I respectfully disagree with some of their complaints. I think the location is fantastic, with several places to enjoy near by, and for us, having a great dive center nearby is key. We've booked adventures through the concierge which has worked out well, being picked up right at the dock. Golf cart rental on property is great too. We usually go right next door to play some pickleball too.
Staff has been very friendly and accommodating. With the property having a fresh new look, and not many people knowing about it, there isn't a whole lot of activity going on at the place, often having one of the pools to ourselves. We have 2 kids (boy and girl), so unit 2-109 is great for us since it has a second small bedroom and a full sized kitchen, plus it's own hot/cold water dispenser.
The new restaurant on property is amazing too! It is great to have such wonderful food right there on property.
I would recommend checking out Bananas on the Beach, as it is affordable, clean and quiet.
- Yoshie (10/5): - Great location and customer service. Definitely recommended!
- Brooke (8/5): Very good -
- Stephanie (10/5): We stay at Bananas on the beach every time we come to Belize and that’s 3x a year. - I like the friendliness of the staff. And the professionalism they showed us. The bar
- Stacey (10/5): - I loved the location right on the beach and the staff was friendly and helpful.
- HG (10/5): - Awesome!
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan Marie (10/5): - We had an amazing time here at Bananas on the Beach!
From the moment Jewel checked us in we had the best service.
We were extremely happy with the view, cleanliness and accessibility.
Our stay was amazing, room was great and spacious!
Thank you for all your hospitality.
- Janice (10/5): - Good
- James P (8/5): - It was nice. Room was great
- lisawJ7325XA (4/5): This hotel has no soul, no luxury - We were looking for a wonderful hotel in paradise at the end of our trip but unfortunately this fell short.
The hotel itself is non description, lots of concrete and hints of green in the umbrellas to break up the monotony. No luxury. The rooms are basic and functional with coffee making facilities. No view.
On the beach front, there are not enough sunbeds if the hotel was full (which it wasn't) and the same for round the pool. There was also no padding on the sunbeds, so they were very uncomfortable.
The big disappointment was that there was a roof construction going on in the courtyard, so this was a mess and taped off right in front of the bar area which there was never anyone at as anyone with sense would drink elsewhere as the outlook was quite bleak.
The pools were clean as was the hotel (house keeping is pretty good and daily) and after the longest checking in in history, of the does and don't including big fines if towels aren't removed, i do have to say that the staff are helpful and friendly and they were accommodating when our hired rental buggy broke down (even though we couldn't get hold of them initially when we rang). The hotel is located outside of the main area, so you have to hire a buggy to get round there is no other choice. There are just a few places within walking distance. Not the worst hotel in history, but few highlights, and it just has no soul. Disappointed.
- Ammy (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. All of the staff were really friendly, and answered all the questions that we had. They had great selection of things to go see and do in town. The place is within walking distance to great food options. Just be aware that you would need cash for must of them. All in all, we cannot wait to return.
- JaredDenver (10/5): Good deal. - Great deal, no need to pay up for some overpriced resort, when the fun of belize is to get out and enjoy the place, not sit at pool full of loud/fat texans. Nice location, but a bit out side of town. Good customer service. Nice and friendly staff.
- Mathew (8/5): Very good -
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- kevhigg (4/5): Not what we expected, or was advertised. - Location is poor, too far out of town, and, apart from the one on site restaurant, not near restaurants etc.
Bananas on the beach does not have a beach. There is a concrete sea- wall and a platform, covered in course sand, behind it. There is nowhere you can walk into the sea.
The sun beds by the pool were uncomfortable, being hard plastic with no matress or cushions.
We were led to believe the rooms had kitchens. All ours had, was a fridge and a coffee maker.
We were told we had a studio apartment: it was simply a bedroom with one wooden chair to sit on.
- Jolene (6/5): - The property was beautiful and the staff were nice. Not too far from the water taxis and the airport. I didn’t like that the room didnt have a blow dry and an iron on hand. The bathroom sink kept clogging up, and the wifi went out for about 2 days as well as the elevator not being in service. Otherwise it was ok. Not in a bad area and good cleanliness
- Alexandra D (10/5): - The hotel is in the perfect location. The area is quiet but a quick golf cart ride into the main town. There are markets nearby and golf cart rental available through the hotel. Definitely have dinner at Gonzalo and the Princess. All around wonderful experience and will definitely be back
- Todd (8/5): - The property is fine and in a decent location, but both pools are essentially kiddie pools in an enclosed courtyard and the pool bar is not near the beach. The room was nice, though we had a view of the side of another property. No restaurant on site, so we essentially slept there and spent our daytime at other resorts.
- Samantha (10/5): - Great!
- Steven Lynn (8/5): - Its a nice property. No real beach. Staff was great
- Amanda (6/5): - Bananas has the opportunity to be a solid spot but fell short in a number of areas - no cushions for hard plastic chairs loungers, kitchen only 1 has 1 fry pan per room, no pots, kettles, etc and no way to enter ocean from dock. The good news is there are plenty of nearby spots to grab a drink and enjoy their amenities including Victoria House and The Pool Bar inside Mahogany Bay.
- Eduardo (10/5): - Great location and great staff.
- JAMES (10/5): - Love the place. Staff was great! We will be back!
- Betty (8/5): Good value place. - Great location. Beach right out front. Had a full kitchen. No big issues. No restaurant very close.
- Kevin (10/5): Bananas about this San Pedro hotel - Super clean and large room. I had a beautiful view from my balcony. The front desk and concierge were very friendly, helpful and patient. The pool bartender, Claudia was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable about the island and fun to talk to. Would stay here again and again.
- Alice L (8/5): - We were in an ocean view 1 bedroom. The room was very nice, comfortable and had the things we needed. A separate living room made it nice too. The kitchen was okay for quick things, but it had only a skillet for cooking so you wouldn’t want to try to make a meal. Coffee in the room each morning was good. (They should have something to say not to use the tap water for it though) although we did the first day and had no problem. We enjoyed our stay. Good location and easy for parking a golf cart. No problem getting a space.
- Nickole (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They made great recommendations on nearby restaurants and shops to visit. The property is well maintained and the beach was awesome.
- John (8/5): - Great place if you want a secluded place to stay. No gym facilities and no real restaurant on premises they send you to the overpriced restaurant next door.
- Diane (8/5): Very good - The newly remodeled room was very nice and clean, and modern. We had stayed there twice before when it was Banana Beach Resort, and it is greatly improved. Liked the fact they have an elevator so you can get your luggage in and out via no steps if on the upper levels. All of the employees were very kind and helpful. We were able to rent a golf cart thru the hotel, so we did not have to go looking for one. We were very disappointed with housekeeping. Almost every day they came in the afternoon. A couple of times they came around 7-8pm. (Yes PM, not AM.) The last night we just told them to give us fresh towels as we were leaving the next day. We were wondering if they had enough employees to get rooms cleaned by midday or midafternoon. When they did come earlier, they did a good job.
- chunks008 (2/5): Horrible experience. If there was a 0 star rating that’s what I would give them. - We booked this hotel to have a vacation with my baby. They had assured us our room would be ready at 11 am. We reached at 12 and we were greeted by a very rude receptionist who didn’t even have the decency to look at us when we were trying to check in. All we got was “your room isn’t ready it’ll be ready in an hour” and that’s it. We tried to explain to her we had a baby and the only reason we booked this place is because we got assurance the room would be ready at 11. She kept staring at her computer answering WhatsApp messages and shrugged her arms. So we left for lunch and came back in an hour later. This time to be greeted by an equally rude receptionist who again just shrugged us off saying an hour more. This time we decided to wait for 2 hours and come when their regular Check in time was, which is 3 pm. We came in, same rudeness and she said the it was an hour more because they were washing our sheets. I was roaming around in the hot sun with my baby for 3 hours and this is the response we got. I finally got fed up and called the manager, and he said he would look into it. He made us wait for a half hour. We got fed up and asked to cancel
The reservation so we can move to another hotel. And even for that they took their sweet time. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Service was garbage and the attitude of the staff callous at best. And I would understand this behavior if we were rude. We were as compliant as possible. There are much better hotels on the island that are similarly priced. Don’t waste your time with these people.
- Barbara (8/5): - Amenities were very limited. Kitchen supplies, bath towels, etc. No pots, toaster, basic kitchen appliances.
Could have used more beach chairs, bar stools.
Room had a great view, bed was very comfortable and staff was friendly and accommodating. Great location!
- James (8/5): - The staff and professionalism is top shelf. The property is totally renovated and it’s a great atmosphere. It’s great for stays more than 1 week. It’s not a full service hotel/resort, but they make things happen. I’ll be back.
- Rima (10/5): - It’s nice and clean.
- Lashaunette (10/5): - I would stay here over and over again. I loved everything about this property. My room was undoubtedly on the beach! It is also located near the docks to get picked up for a boating activity. The security was great and friendly. Thank you to the guard that caught the lizard for me. Also Vince the concierge was great. I would definitely recommend Bananas on the Beach to anyone that goes to Belize!
- Mayree Kay (10/5): - Nice view. Clean. Quiet.
- Lucia (6/5): Was nice but if you’re looking for beach front for access to beach this is not the place. - The facility was updated and modern compared to others in the area. It was clean and there was room service every day that cleaned and changed our towels. The facility was up to date no complaints. I didn’t like that I paid for a beach from property and there was no beach. One thing to know about Belize there is no beach in town there is sand and wall and water. There is also a lot is seaweed in the area. I paid for a beach front so my family could have easy access to the beach but there was no beach so if I knew I would of stay at a property that was not beach front and paid less. I also wished there was a toaster and a griddle to cook. There was everything else but the pot and pans and cooking ware there was only a small pan.
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (8/5): Great for the price, stafdlf lovely - Stay was great, pool was lovely Only a couple of restsurants close at night. Had to take $10 taxis to town and back quite often. Walked jurying the day
- Arleane (8/5): Very good -
- Edward Henry (6/5): - There idea of a beach is a sea wall. The pool is surrounded by building with little air flow. The front desk tries to charge your card for things you didn't get. Parking was always over full. The halls were dirty. Housekeeping did very little. Sand flees in the room. I will never go back.
- Sidney (9/5): Superb -
- Ann (10/5): Loved it - Location was perfect No restaurant on property
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice & tidy - Room was a bit small, amenities were simple, but everything else about this place was just right. Choice of two pools. Waterfront but can't swim in the water. A good distance from the busy and congested part of San Pedro... not too close and not too far either.
- Erik (9/5): Mooie en moderne kamer met uitzicht op de oceaan. - room with ocean view maybe something to cook water, for thee?
- Bob (5/5): Good - Did not have one. We thought we paid for a view of the ocean with a patio looking towards the ocean and beach. Instead, we were on an alley looking at a concrete fence.
No microwave in unit.
- David J (10/5): - Everything is easy walking distance from Banana’s, so convenient and accessible. Can walk the beach all the way to town.
- Terra (8/5): - .
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away from bed bugs - Bed bugs! Stay away
- Patti (9/5): Superb - Loved that it was on the water. The view from the room was breathtaking! Our one bedroom suite was very nicely done. Very comfortable.
Well protected. Friendly staff. Would stay here again ❤️ The stairs did not have handrails, and made us old people feel vulnerable to falling. Also, no handrail in the shower. The lounge chairs by the pools, and on the beach, would be nicer with some padding.Uncomfortable to lay on.
Need a light in the kitchen, over the stove.
- Barb (9/5): Superb -
