The unit was unclean and appeared not to have been adequately prepared for guests. We observed thick dust throughout the space, a dirty bedspread, food crumbs scattered around, dirty water left in the sink, sticky floors and benchtops, cockroach droppings on the kitchen surfaces, pubic hairs, faeces under the toilet seat, and dead spiders present in several areas and shards of glass in the bathroom. These issues made the property unsafe, unsanitary and unsuitable for accommodation. I notified the agent immediately upon arrival and a cleaner was sent to the property. However, as previously mentioned, the cleaner only completed a partial clean and advised they would return the following day to finish the job. I accepted this arrangement in good faith, and was led to believe the cleaner would return. However, when I contacted Accom Caloundra at 2:00 PM the next day to confirm, I was abruptly informed that NO cleaner would not be coming. As remaining in the property was making us physically unwell and no further cleaning assistance was provided, we had no choice but to vacate the premises the following day once alternative accommodation was secured. Not only did Accom Caloundra deny the return of a cleaner and refuse a refund, but we were charged for more than the two nights we stayed - despite the unacceptable conditions. I question how this could possibly be considered legal? Furthermore, Accom Caloundra attempted to shift blame by claiming we had not disclosed that we were travelling with a dog. However, a guest from our party had contacted Accom Caloundra directly to enquire about booking with a pet, and our booking confirmation from Booking.com reflects that information.
