He whipped up both a delicious breakfast and dinner that made the stay even more special. The rooms were fantastic, clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Every detail was taken care of, which made it such an easy and relaxing stay. • Tom (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel - This is a true gem. Very good and friendly service & nice comfortable, clean and modern rooms. Lunch and dinner were also delicious. Easy access to the airport or other parts of the city with Uber. Definitely worth a visit! Nothing to dislike.

The entire property is calm and beautifully located. It is also in a safe neighbourhood. We really liked the room and the property. The bed was very comfortable and big. The breakfast could have been better. Milk was sour on two days, condiments were expired for a long time. There were (cold) pancakes, bananas and muffins on the first days, then they were not available anymore on later days. The breakfast lacked variety and freshness.

The owners’ attention to detail and care for their guests was truly amazing. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and on one evening the owner even prepared dinner for us on just an hour’s notice – it was fantastic! The rooms were very comfortable with nice beds, and everything was spotlessly clean. A really warm and welcoming place to stay – highly recommended. NOTHING

It's location was good and close to the event we attended. The only thing we did not like was the smell of smoke, presumably from another guest in a nearby room, the bathroom did smell like stagnant water, presumably from a dirty shower drain but other than that the room was clean and neat and the bed was very comfortable.

It felt like home, very comfortable and clean and tastefully designed and furnished. If we could have extended our stay we would. • Jo-ann (10/5): Fabulous guesthouse and host who goes the extra mile - We stayed for 3 nights in the luxury suite which is a bigger room, and has a king bed and a small private terrace. The mattress was exceptionally comfortable, linen was good quality, crisp and clean, bathroom products were Moulton Brown - very special - and towels luxurious. I was impressed by the meticulous attention to detail. This room is on the garden side so very quiet, and the bathroom has thoughtful shower and toilet rails if needed. (My mother is disabled and so I am a guest that appreciates these extras.) The property has a 24-hour guard and an electric gate. Warren was available at any time to assist. He cooks himself and our delicious breakfasts deserve a special mention. We had originally booked an upper room on the road side , but as my husband is a light sleeper, we chose to move. You can hear traffic from some of the bedrooms during peak times so book accordingly. The guesthouse is in an area of Jhb where you would want off-road parking and a feeling of security, which this guesthouse provides.

The room was a little smaller than anticipated and the noise that came from the bathroom when you turned on the light was not great.

• S. (3/5): Bad experience, due to the manager's bad temper. - The location and the staff. The manager. He had sudden mood swings. He closed (slam) doors very hard and say offensive words. The manager was rude.

We had 24 hour security. The landscaping was manicured to perfection. The balcony, living areas, dining areas all Exceeded our expectations. The manager and staff served us as if we were the only thing that mattered. We received a full large breakfast each morning at the time we requested. The manager cooked to my specifications - vegetarian. They decorated prior to our arrival for an extra special anniversary celebration. The laundry — our laundry was washed and pressed by Sympathy who took extra special care of our room. It was off the beaten path a little. We could not walk to places nearby for groceries etc. And —- that was fine. We could Uber eats- which the manager did for us. He got us snacks at the end of the night because I was hungry and suffering from jet lag.

• Leetal (10/5): Pleasantly surprised - On rare occasions, you find a place not expecting very much and then you're gobsmacked by how amazing a find it is. 1945 On Kloof is one of those places. Located in a quite neighborhood that is central to everything in Johannesburg this boutique hotel astounds. Staff are superb and go out if their way to make your stay perfect. The manager, Warren, acknowledges and responds to every request with a desire to ensure the needs of every guest is met. Food is great for such a small establishment and everything cooked fresh. Rooms are small but with all modern conveniences and so clean it feels like you're the first guest there. This hotel is now a firm favorite and I'll recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful, safe place to stay in Johannesburg. No blow dryer
