• Shannon (7/5): Great location, great amenities, pretty comfortable stay - The location was fantastic,just a short walk from central station. Lots of dining choices in the area. The complimentary coffee machine in the lobby was brilliant. The bathroom amenities were terrific. The pillows were a bit hard and the air conditioner struggled to keep the room cool.

I chased twice to have it removed and was told it will be gone and my bank didn’t agree it was no longer held. The hold was finally removed over a month after my stay. Unacceptable in modern payments environment we all operate in.

Room was comfortable and quiet. Staff were friendly. Don’t like handing over my credit card for manual entry into system. There are better, safer ways of providing a deposit.

Breakfast in foyer was adequate, Friendly staff.Would stay here again. Downside for us was no tea and coffee in room. We did go to the foyer to get a coffee but prefer to have in room. We were offered a kettle for the room but no cups etc provided. I did realise afterwards we could have taken cups etc from Foyer.

Nice that breakfast snacks are provided, but when travelling, I've often had to leave before they are set out in the morning.

That we couldn't stay longer because we already had a trip planned

We also enjoyed the disco lift ;-) Special compliments to the staff! I had asked for help prior to receive a package. In the end, it ended up not coming, but I kept messaging the staff members and they kept replying quickly and politely. They really did their best to help me in every way possible. A bit more space or a little stool for suitcases would have been great.

Its very close to the many cafes and restaurants on offer in Surry Hills as well as amenities. My particular room was a free upgrade on the top floor with nice views. Facilities were all clean, modern and functional. Bed was large and comfortable. Complementary coffee, tea and snacks available in the lobby. Overall presentation of the hotel was top notch and very stylish. One of the lamps was broken. I dislike overhead lighting so another lamp besides the broken one would have been nice for some ambience. The lifts are super slow.

Housekeeping was very inconsistent and we were staying there for 6 nights so it became very apparent deeper into our stay. Some days were great, others were the opposite.

The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The coffee machines in the foyer for guest use were excellent with a very good range of tasty coffees. There was a comfortable chair was adequate desk space for a computer. The lighting in the room was inappropriate. It consisted of a very bright overhead light and a useless trendy-looking bedside lamp which emitted so little light that it was impossible to use as a reading lamp. In fact it was useless for anything. I don't know why it was there. The only switch for the overhead light was next to the door, so that if I wanted to read in bed, I had to use the overhead light and then turn it off at the door and grope my way back to the bed. The shower in the bathroom threw water all over the bathroom floor, the tiles of which appeared to be sloping away in places from the drain. The bathroom was placed next to the window, which was frosted at the bottom. There was no blind on the window. Because of the lack of adjacent buildings, bathroom privacy was not compromised. However, there was no way to block the sun during the day. Even on a cool April day the sun caused the room to heat up quite a bit. The included breakfast consisted of cheap plain pastries, some fresh apples, occasionally bananas and small containers of syrupy tinned-style stewed fruit. It would be better and far healthier to forego the breakfast here and have it elsewhere. The TV in the room had intermittent connection problems.

• Barbara (4/5): - I recently stayed at 57 Hotel Sydney, and while there were some positives, overall the experience was quite mixed. The standout was definitely the staff. They were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely went above and beyond to assist wherever they could. Customer service like that really makes a difference and was greatly appreciated. Overall, while the service was excellent, the condition, comfort, and practicality of the rooms need significant improvement to match the level of hospitality provided by the staff. Unfortunately, the rooms left a lot to be desired. There was no natural lighting in the room itself, aside from a window into the bathroom. Overnight, this became an issue as the artificial light from the bathroom filtered into the room, making it difficult to get proper darkness for sleep. The bathroom also showed clear signs of wear and tear, with mould present and cracked tiles, which detracted from the overall cleanliness and comfort. There was also an odd decorative dog statue taking up space, yet no practical provision for hanging towels to dry — something far more useful. To make matters worse, there were no shower screens or curtains, so water splashed out during use and left the entire bathroom floor wet. Basic amenities were also lacking, including no face washers being provided. The mattresses were another downside — very firm to the point of being uncomfortable, and one appeared to be broken, which impacted the quality of sleep.

The location was the best. Close to Metro. Trains. Many many restaurants within walking distance. A spacious breakfast area to sit and chat in the evening with coffee abd tea available 24 hours.
