- KYM (8/5): The accommodation was good, clean, comfortable. I’d stay again but only if it was two people or two couples. - The decor, the location, the heating availability. The third bedroom is not suitable for an adult.
The feeling that the owners were just behind the kitchen wall was uncomfortable
- Alanna (10/5): Great long weekender - We loved staying at The Gables - the puzzles and board games; thoughtful stock of jams, bread, butter, tea, coffee, and milk to get us started, the pinball machine, big bedrooms, lots of space for us to relax in the house. The beds were comfortable with extra blankets, heaters if needed and we lovely having the fire! Easy to find and get in, check in process was easy and a lovely location. Thank you for having us and we hope to stay again sometime. Nothing - this was great for our family of 4. Although, I would have loved access to the outside bins to put some rubbish there that I didn't want in the main house.
- David (10/5): Thank you, Rob! - It was as it said!

- Phillip (10/5): Excellent, Comfortable, Clean home away from home - Just about everything, from the cleanliness to the decorations to the ease of entry. We were emailed instructions on how to use the keyless entry and parking instructions. The owner also gave us his phone number in case we had any questions or if we needed anything.
The owner contacted us to inform us that we had left a tooth brush charger and he offered to post it to us, which we thought was very nice Nothing comes to mind except having to leave as we only stayed one night as we were in Bowral for a wedding so we only required one nights accommodation
- rachael (9/5): Beautiful home ! - The location was perfect close to town. Rob was great with communication.
The pin ball machine was excellent for the boys and the beds were very comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Only 1 thing hard to watch the TV because of where it is located, not a big deal but we fo like watching the footy .

- Ying (8/5): Lovely house and super clean, close to shops - Rob has been very approachable prior to the stay, very easy to communicate with. The property is nice and cozy, super clean and close to the town centre. We enjoyed our stay, thank you! It would be perfect if there was an extra bathroom or a small toilet; it would be easier if the door to the bathroom from the bedroom was accessible.

- Maria (10/5): - Spacious comfortable home arty but modern .leafy exterior No bath
- Teresa (10/5): GREAT .. Will stay again .. Recommend 😍 - Super interesting, quirky & eclectic home, in-keeping with Victorian era. Clean & comfy & all you would need & more. Great Location.
Super attentive host. N/A

- Megan (10/5): - Beautiful old house in a quiet street. Very comfortable beds. Pinball machine was super fun!
- Katherine (10/5): Beautiful Bowral - We had a quick stop off in Bowral on our road trip from Melbourne to Sydney. The house was perfect for our family of 4. Located on a quiet street with parking out the front. The house was so interesting with wonderful art work, photographs and extra antique details. We loved the pinball machine and board games.
Bowral is a beautiful place, with a lovely high street. We ate at the Royal Hotel, which we all enjoyed. We were also there for the cricket museum which was brilliant. We really appreciated the milk and coffees to make a quick breakfast before we moved on to the Blue Mountains. Thank you! n/a
- Jason (8/5): -
- Gillian (8/5): - Cosy, very self sufficient, easy to park, plenty of heating Hard to watch Tv as group from sofa
- Robert (9/5): Comfortable old school apartment - Comfortable beds good products in bathroom well stocked kitchen No TV
No parking
- Susan (10/5): Enjoyed it….wish we were there longer. - Beautifully styled and dog friendly
- Dr Van (8/5): - Perfect, except no television. I couldn’t believe it … searched high and low. Big problem for me, single bloke … political, news, Sport junkie with no tellie … sheesh.
Not cheap either … don’t expect it to be cheap, but no tellie? Fortunately, the wifi was good … so I killed time on the ‘net. Not happy.
- Melanie (9/5): - The Gables is a lovely home and Rob is an excellent host. Great location.
- Sarah (10/5): - It was very cosy and comfortable
- Donna (10/5): It was amazing loved the fresh roses left on the table - It was authentic to the area cosy and homey Nothing
- Carrie (10/5): We were here for a wedding in the southern highlands and this cottage was wonderful. Highly recommend!! - Conveniently located and plenty of space for the group.
- Joan (5/5): Disappointing - Location ok Lack of off street parking was a concern, and not acceptable
I know it is a heritage establishment, but not to have Television was stretching it a bit.
We also found that the toilet facilities were too far from the bedrooms as we are in our eighties.
And to call the bed on the unlined verandah a bedroom was again not up to standard
Some of the room heaters we’re not working and there was dust on the shelf in the second bedroom
- Jackson (10/5): -
- Ron (10/5): - A different style that appeals Nothing
- Ashley (9/5): A very pleasant stay in a beautiful part of Bowral. - A really nice well maintained house in a lovely location. The bedrooms were really cozy with great electric heaters and super comfortable beds. The bathroom modern and spacious. This part of Bowral is lovely and quiet at night. The surrounding streets are so nice to walk around in the evening. The place was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Plenty of reading material and puzzles etc. if you want to just put your feet up for a while. A couple of nice little spaces to sit outside and relax too. We met the host on arrival just by chance and he was very friendly and helped with the door code which was easy anyway. A great system not having to worry about keys etc. Overall a really pleasant place to stay. No complaints really. It would be a nice addition to have a hot plate in the kitchen as we brought our own coffee pot. But we got along ok with the pod machine provided.
- ANDREW (8/5): good - no TV
- Denise (10/5): - The building and the decor were beautiful. We had everything we needed.
The host,Rob went out of his way to help us set up the internet for us. Nothing.

- ChrisLG (9/5): Cute and quirky - We loved this quirky cottage. It was very comfortable and warm with both a fire, and a gas heater to choose from. Everything we needed was there. We loved having NO television, and played lots of scrabble. The pinball machine was a huge hit too. The shower could have been a little cleaner.
- Veronica (10/5): Perfect stay, the owners have thought of everything! - The quirkiness of the house and the heating in every room, my husband loved the pinball machine. It was a few minutes by car to drive into town, in the summer it would be a nice walk. nothing
- William Charles (10/5): -
- Farkas (10/5): Beautiful home with lots of added touches such as board games and lots of books to read for all ages - Ease of instructions to find property and enter using number code.
- Deborah (10/5): WONDERFUL START & STAY ON A 2 WEEK SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS & SOUTH COAST ROAD TRIP WITH 3 GRANDCHILDREN - I have taken a while to write this review as I truly wanted to express our experience about this stay, to the best of my ability & from my heart
I was very much aware that I was booking a property without a TV. However, travelling with 3 grandchildren from northern NSW, ranging from 6-12, where we all live in a 'TV/techo world', I did think at times, I should have reconsidered my choice. BUT NO. This break from a TV was exactly what we needed. We relaxed, all slept in (& I mean slept in, few of us till 10.30!!) we played games, cards, read books, ate in every day/night, played the pin ball machine, talked & really reconnected.
To summaries what we loved (we stayed in winter & it rained the 3 days/2 nights we were there)
Wonderful host Rob who offered to provide any extras we needed, (ie extra firewood/kindling etc & even a small sound system)
NO TV
Lovely pre prepped wood fireplace & 2 x gas easy to operate fireplaces + wall panel heaters in bedrooms, warm home
Beautiful comfortable beds (the best) great linen & towels, great warm shower
Full equipped kitchen (we managed everything) coffee machine & all pods, coffee, tea etc provided
Beautiful warm house in a beautiful area (easy to get to)
Easy access to local supermarkets (we ate in so bought food to cook)
Gorgeous gardens etc & parking right out the front
Whilst we did not play cards, we loved the specific antique card table/retro chairs (sure so many other guests would have enjoyed that as well)
Watching the grandkids & Grandad become obsessed taking turns in beating each other on the scores
All in all we all LOVED 'The Gables' & we would love to return at any time in the future (thinking summer spring would be awesome as well)
Rob, you were such a lovely host & thank you so much for opening up your beautiful home 'The Gables' to Garry & I, Leo, Dom & Kasia (PS Rob hope you got over Kasia trying to 'break... Nothing loved it all
- Grace (8/5): Had a great time in Bowral, lovely area near the forest. - It was very comfortable and kept warm with heaters and a fireplace. Beds were comfortable as was the living areas. No kitchen, such a big house and no cooktop or oven. The bathroom needed a good clean.
- Greaney (9/5): The Gables was a fun, charming and cozy escape from the Bowral chill. - Our family of four loved our stay at The Gables. It was great to step out of the chilly Bowral air into the comforting, vintage warmth of the house. Our host Rob made us welcome, even got the fireplace ready for us so all we had to do was light it. And the pinball machine was an extra bonus!
- Gavin (9/5): Superb -
- Cornelia (10/5): Exceptional - My second stay here and there will be a third, fourth, etc!! Nothing
- Megan (9/5): Superb - The accommodation had great heating and I was pleasantly surprised at how cosy it was in the middle of a Southern Highlands winter. We'll be back. We couldn't crack the code for using the coffee machine despite one of us owning one at home so some instant coffee would've got us on track until we made it into a cafe in town.
- Janine (10/5): It was a beautiful place to stay. - It was close to the retreat we were attending . It was a cosy cottage.
- Justine (9/5): Superb -
- Sugi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marie (9/5): Superb - Felt like home, a great fire, very cosy. Perfect for a family get together.
- Montserrat (10/5): Cosy and comfortable cottage experience. - The Gables had everything we needed for a weekend stay; we loved the decor and it accommodate the three of us very well. The log fire was a lovely surprise and easy to start up. Definitely not an issue for our group but others may be challenged as there was an air fryer , a cooking element but no microwave during our stay.
- Robert (6/5): Would I stay here again, probably not. - Location. Site was clean and comfortable The site was clean and comfortable, but I should have read the site listing. I was very surprised it did not contain a TV or even a radio, what other holiday retail property does that? It would also be beneficial if it had at least microwave, it would then be possible to warm liquids/food. Cooking facilities were also very limited, a single plug-in hot plate and a grill which appeared never to have been used. There were many books available to read but the low brightness of the internal lighting made it very difficult to read by. Would I stay here again, probably not.
- Romi-g (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isabel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (7/5): Good - Quirky furnishings! House smelled very damp on arrival and it was difficult to sleep- affected breathing. Hosts were lovely and very accommodating

- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - So much character and a great vibe. Very funky decor also Nothing
- Christene (10/5): Absolutely fantabulous, we will be back 😁 - Absolutely everything, great location, gorgeous house, very comfortable for 5 adults. The Continental Breaky provided was a nice surprise 😁
Thanks Rob 🤗
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - Clean and comfortable. Rob was very quick to respond with answers to any query There was no tv which was not a problem for a short stay but may be an issue if staying longer
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - Quaint cottage close to the main part of town. Hosts very accommodating and helpful. Well equipped . Highly recommend to all.
- Di (9/5): It was a wonderful relaxing stay. - I loved the art filled rooms and homey feel. Perhaps the only thing was that the bathroom was on the other side of the house but this was a minor issue as the bathroom itself was spacious and clean.
- Assadour (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adelaide (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): A very comfortable property, Loved the PinBall Machine - Breakfast was bread for toasting with butter and jams, a selection of coffee and Tea.
Very comfortable with a good sense of privacy and security.

- Asuka (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, furniture and pictures are all very nice. Kids enjoyed the game a lot. Nothing
- Nancy (10/5): We enjoyed the pinball machine and the house was great. Would loved to have stayed longer. -
- Karin (8/5): Relaxing and Comfortable - Very comfortable, private, quiet and clean. We loved playing Dog Bingo! Couldn't open most of the windows and there were no flyscreens. We stayed when it had been over 30 degrees during the day and it would have been good to have some fresh air flowing through during the night.
- Brett (10/5): Warm, friendly and inviting - The house was lovely, big, warm and close to everything. The host Rob was great very friendly and nothing was a problem. Highly recommend
- Georgie (10/5): Exceptional -

- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Just such a surprise after a number of motels while travelling with older teenagers to have space to stretch, inviting surroundings, short walk to the town, and the Charlie's Angels pinball - perfect!
- Gulsen (7/5): Good -
- Berto (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): The property was ideal for a group of us attending a wedding in the area. - A well maintained heritage property, lovingly renovated and decorated by the owner (who was very responsive to our questions on use of the coffee maker and pinball machine).
- Tibby (8/5): Very good - We don’t like air fresheners, and the bathroom one was very over powering,it would have been nice if we could have opened a window in the bathroom.
- Gail (7/5): Family - Pinball and easy drive to surrounding areas. Rooms had gas heating and main room fire making for a lovely warm atmosphere. Couldn't use big verandah or yard. No off street parking. No TV for kids. Small amount of skim milk in fridge along with minute pieces of butter and quarter of sourdough left in fridge. It looked like people had left their leftovers in fridge. For a B&B I would have small packets of mixed cereals with a full bottle of milk.
- Michael (9/5): Lovely property. Can highly recommend. - The property was lovely, charming, and very comfortable. Thank you for the bread, butter, milk and condiments - it was appreciated. The pinball machine was a bonus for 2 siblings from the 70's! The library of books and games will keep you entertained for days, whilst the wifi was fast if you want to keep in touch with the 21st century. Everything was perfect.
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Everything we needed and more.
- Stephen (8/5): Enjoyable and comfortable stay. - Very spacious; clean; well presented; and included all necessary items including a treat of turkish bread, which was provided that little extra than an ordinary stay. Nil
- Nigel (9/5): Superb - Convenient for the town. Full of quirky and interesting artefacts including a funky, working pinball machine.
Welcome pack with everything for a simple breakfast for which thanks to our hosts.👍 Only criticism - and this is a very minor one - is the fixed shower head is perhaps set a little low for anyone 1m 80cms or taller.
- Hamish (7/5): Good -
- Miso (9/5): Superb -
- Joy (10/5): Memorable Stay - The Gables had everything that we needed and more. It was welcoming and felt like home. The Gables was so clean and every nook and cranny had something interesting. The furnishings was well thought of and well appointed. Our some enjoyed the games, puzzle and books and the pinball machine. He particularly loved the sun room.
