• Jeffrey (3/5): Unrentable untili the Toxic Mold issue is addressed - I like the location. No doubt the location is good. When you put it in google or uber you need to know it is in the transamerica building. Once you get that out of the way, uber pick ups and taxis are easy. Plus there is a small roof so you wont get wet especially on rainy days. There is a lot of good stuff walking distance. The apartment has light cleaning which I liked. They dont give new towels but do take out trash. Something other apartments dont have. Once the issues I mentioned are fixed this has potential. However, I have some serious issues during my stay. I will give a shout out that the host was very responsive even if none of my issues got addressed. I was really disappointed with my stay at this apartment. The bedroom had an extremely strong and unpleasant stench of mold. When I first opened the bedroom door, the smell was so overwhelming that I almost fainted. It was that bad. The odor was persistent, and I had no choice but to leave the windows open for ventilation, but even that didn’t help. I had to sleep for several days with this toxic, moldy odor in the air. Mold in an apartment isn’t just a minor inconvenience; it’s a serious health hazard. Breathing in those spores can cause respiratory issues, and I was honestly shocked that the apartment was even listed in such an unsafe condition. It’s unacceptable for a place to be rented out with mold this severe. Additionally, the electricity was a major issue. The breaker kept tripping, and even after I reported it, the problem continued. The owner did send someone to fix it, but of course, it seemed to work temporarily while the repairman was there. However, the issue persisted right after they left, leaving me with constant electrical problems. The apartment also had a kitchen, but it was not equipped to cook, as there was no stove. This was a significant inconvenience, as having a kitchen without the proper facilities really didn’t make sense. To their credit, the owner was responsive to my concerns, but unfortunately, nothing changed. One other thing to note: while the apartment includes cleaning, new towels come at an additional cost of 60 Brazilian Reais (about 10 USD). So, while the place is cleaned, you still don’t get fresh towels without paying extra, which felt pretty inconvenient. While the apartment has potential, it’s difficult to recommend while it has these serious issues. The mold problem is a major health risk, and the other problems just added to the frustration. I would advise anyone looking for a safe, comfortable stay to look elsewhere until these issues are addressed.
