Guest Reviews
- Susan (9/5): I would stay again as this was a charming and comfortable home! - Location was great. Up a hill. View of the town. The house was charming and just like the photos. Sunny, clean, touches everywhere, which were charming & colours were great everywhere. Bed comfortable. Couches were comfortable. The Kitchen was functional and roomy. Big fridge. TIM TAMS!! Good area to park car. Bins all within reach for disposal. All up it was a lovely place to stay! ps- very squeaky wooden floors so no sneaking around!!!! It was just noticeable that, for a 3-bedroom home, there was no dining room table of any kind to eat at. If 4-6 people were staying, that could pose a problem! The kitchen had a bit of a bar area with one stool and a low coffee table, in TV area, but you would need to move furniture around to use it. A small table out on the verandah, but it was a tad cool, early morning in May for brekky. OK for 2 to muddle through .

- Jayne (10/5): Fantastic stay on the hill in the hill 😊 - Pet friendly, comfy beds, great location Nothing
- Sue (10/5): Comfortable and value for money - Comfortable
- Anne (9/5): Practically perfect in every way. - The view was fabulous, and the cottage was indeed charming! The twin bed room could have a bedside light, and in the laundry a label on a container identifying what powder or fluid to use in the washing machine would be helpful.
- Terese (8/5): Cute, rustic cottage in an interesting town. Has everything you need plus a few bonus treats. Comfortable and nicely fur - Well equipped, nicely decorated and comfortable. Access to Netflix. Tim tams and sparkling water. Not totally clean. No inside table and chairs to sit at.
- Donna (7/5): We had an issue on arrival which was promptly sorted by our host. Great communitcation. -
- Ileana (9/5): - IT WAS VERY COMFORTABLE OLD HOME AND CLOSE TO EVERYTHING AND THE OWNER KINDLY LEFT SOME TREATS.
THE AIR CONDITIONERS KEPT THE HOUSE WARM, BEDS WERE EXCEPTIONALLLY COMFORTABLE IT WAS NEEDING A DUST ON BLINDS AND SKIRTING BOARDS BUT WE HAD EXCEPTIONALLY WINDY DAYS BEING CLOSE TO THE MINE IT SEEMED UNDERSTANDABLE
WE HAD USED THE DESK AS A DINING TABLE AND REPLACED IT IN THE BEDROOM BEFORE LEAVING.

- Rebecca (10/5): - The house was very well equipped, aircon was great in every room, rooms were spacious and comfortable The parking was a little hard being located on the hill, however, if you only have 1 vehicle its fine!
- Robin (9/5): - All good. Roomy, comfy. Reasonable price. Could use a table and chairs to eat at.
- Kerstin (8/5): - Easy communication with the host. Very clean cottage and comfortable bed.
- Coralie (8/5): -
- Helen (9/5): Highly recommend - Lovely home. Nicely decorated and contained all the necessities plus morem Host thought of everything! Lots of little steps throughout the property so a little challenging for people with mobility issues. But I'd stay again.
- Chris (8/5): Hillside Haven was a great spot for relaxing at the end of a big day out exploring. - Upon entering the house the vibe was relaxing and welcoming. The bed was particularly comfortable and the sheets smelled so fresh. It was a pleasure to fall asleep after a long day of travel.
Communication was thorough and friendly and the house was very well appointed.
It is in a very quiet area so a peaceful stay. To get to the front door we had to descend a few steep steps. The path in and some surfaces in the house were at slightly different levels. These could be a potential hazard.
Being a very old house there were obvious signs of wear and tear but these added to the charm and did not distract from the enjoyment of our stay.
There are no blinds or blackout curtains in the bedrooms so be prepared to wake up with the sun. Good for getting you out and about early.

- Doley (9/5): Great property - would stay again!!! - The communication from Rachel was prompt and much appreciated. The home was perfect for what we needed (7 day stay) to explore Broken Hill & the surrounding area. The beds were comfortable, each room had its own reverse cycle air con (awesome for the cold nights) and the home was equipped with everything you would need. Appreciated the water and tim tams left on the fridge.
The location was excellent, far enough away from the town but within a short distance from everything.
If ever visiting the area again I would happily book again. Cannot think of anything that we didn't like.
More than happy with our stay.
Thank you 😃
- Donna (8/5): We loved our stay at Hillside Haven. The view is amazing, the beds are comfy & plenty of heating. -

- Jeffrey (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others .The owner was more than helpful and kept in touch . - Was clean and had every thing u needed .Nice and quiet and with in walking distance for us . Not a great deal .The kitchen could have had a small table to use especially in the cold months .Other than that it was decorated really nice. The dryer was not working .
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rob (9/5): Superb - It was warm and welcoming when we arrived. The beds were super comfortable and we were up on a hill overlooking Broken Hill. A home away from home and a little taste of Broken Hill at the same time.
- Kim (10/5): Would highly recommend, everything was set up just perfect for our stay - Fantastic quiet location and secure fence yard for our pet which was such a bonus.

- Jason (10/5): Exceptional - Loved our stay at Hillside Haven! It's a very cute and cosy cottage and was perfect for us and our dog. The owner was great with communication and was very accommodating. Even though there wasn't grass or outdoor dining out the back, there's still a very large and full fenced space for our dog to explore :) really there's nothing we disliked and would stay again!
- Peters (8/5): Comfortable house, suited our needs for a few days visit to this very interesting town. - Nice quiet location, easy to access all of the town and points of interest. Comfortable house with all necessity provided. Lounge air cond a bit noisy, could be in need of filters cleaned.
- Tamara (10/5): Cozy & Charming - This cottage truly lived up to it's name- it was so Charming! Communication with the owner to arrnage access was easy and the bedding was extra comfortable! Highly reccomend this place.
- Jodie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Russell (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful little home.
Nice added extras with packet of TimTams and sparkling water in the fridge along with tea, coffee and milk.
Would stay again
- Kasiani (10/5): Comfy stay in a well equipped home. - Really lovely hosts and easily a home away from home.
Loved the decor and beds. All g
- Luca (9/5): Fantastic value for a cozy cottage stay - Great value for what you get. All the amenities you’d need - a full kitchen, 3 bedrooms, good wifi, etc. Cool location at the top of a hill in a quiet neighbourhood, a short drive from anywhere you’d need to go within Broken Hill. Check in and check out process was easy. Complimentary snacks and other foods and drinks were a welcome surprise.
There were a few, mostly minor, things I didn’t like. I would’ve liked powerpoints next to the beds for convenience, and just more powerpoints in general - in my bedroom the cables for the lamps on the bedside table had to traverse the walls until reaching the one power outlet on the other side of the room. The house is quite noticeably old, with some damaged cabinet doors and a creaky floor. I also would’ve liked a tissue box, instead of using paper towels.
- Jessica (9/5): Beautiful and comfortable cottage - Gorgeous cottage, beautiful and comfortable.
Plenty of space for 3 adults. While the front rooms were gorgeously decorated, the sheer curtains weren’t very good at keeping morning sun out
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pop (10/5): Exceptional - Charming cottage, neat and tidy. Close to town and all amenities. Backyard needs attention.
- Ian (10/5): Air conditioning in all main rooms made our January stay comfortable. - A well located, comfortable cottage. Well set up with all kitchen utensils and cooking equipment like oil, salt and pepper plus more (but not other people's stuff left behind). Easy to all attractions.
- David (9/5): We enjoyed ourselves staying at Hillside Haven Cottage and would recommend it to our friends. - The view from the veranda
Sitting on the veranda for BBQ meals
Being able to walk to the local sights
Well equipped kitchen and laundry
Decorated nicely
“The vibe “
Quiet neighbourhood
Good air conditioning Needs some minor maintenance
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hunt (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully presented inside, beds were so comfortable, had everything you need and more facilities great . Highly recommend
- Summa (10/5): Perfectly cute cottage! - This cottage was in a quiet location and a wonderful view back over town. The building is historic and very cute with a clever renovation to make it cosy and very workable. The bedrooms were spacious, well decorated and the beds were super comforty. The kitchen was the perfect size for our short stay and was very well appointed with all the bits and pieces you need. The property manager (Narelle) was amazing to deal with as clear instructions were given and she checked in after our first night to make sure that everything was meeting our expectations and if there was anything we needed. This was above and beyond what we have experienced at other properties.
This was the perfect accommodation for our stay in Broken Hill as it met all of our needs and we were very impressed.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Cute, cosy and very clean.
- Chriss (10/5): Outstandingly comfortable, peaceful and lovely home🌷 - 10/10🎉🎉🎉 Beautifully interior designed and comfortable home and the quiet location was perfect. As soon as we entered, we felt right at home and wished we could have stayed for an entire week👌👌
Narelle has thought of everything to make guest visits a wonderful experience😍. The spacious bedrooms offer beds that are so comfortable and the pillows are plump and supportive. We loved lying in bed and listening to the birds singing in the mornings.
The open plan living room & kitchen has 2 X 3 seater sofas to relax on and so good to enjoy a nice selection of coffee table books to read.
The front verandah is perfect for spending time enjoying an early morning coffee watching the sun rise over Broken Hill or the twinkling lights at night.
Our 2 dogs Rocky and Oscar also agreed we'd found the best accommodation in Broken Hill and thoroughly enjoyed themselves exploring the surrounding streets on our walks.
If you are looking for a great cafe, go visit Soull Cafe and Giovanni's, excellent coffee and personable staff.
Thank you so much, we loved our visit.
Hugs from Chriss and Mark 😘

- Wendy (9/5): Highly recommend very comfortable house with everything you need - The stunning and comfortable bed linen
The shower Only one suggestion is blinds for the bedrooms 😀
- Shane (9/5): Welcoming, homely, relaxing & comfortable. - It was very private and quiet, had all the appliances and facilities you could ask for. Very clean, comfortable with those little extras that make your stay so homely. Very little, to few dining spots was the only thing.
- Jenny (9/5): This place is so comfy it's just like a home away from home. - This place is such a gem! It's one of those classic Broken Hill miners' cottages that has been lovingly restored with great taste. We especially appreciated the wardrobe full of extra doonas as it was cold and the great shower + it's always fun to stay in a place that has a better TV than the one you have at your own home! The host was helpful in answering our questions which is always a plus. We're cold frogs so would have appreciated more heating.
- Clotilde (9/5): Lovely accommodation - Lovely picturesque little house. Very well equipped, all commodities were there. The host was very helpful too. Be aware the house is on a steep hill, it wasn't ideal for a pram walk, and would be tricky for a wheelchair user too.
- Alexandra (10/5): Delightful cottage, super comfortable and quiet. Would recommend! - We absolutely loved our stay, we loved the decor and the vibes of the interior. It was over 35c but aircons were amazing (and super quiet too!) Beds are comfy, we all had a great nights sleep. Very big thank you to Narelle for checking in on us to make sure we were comfortable! Nothing, was great!
- Jennifer (8/5): A home away from home which met all of our needs. - It was clean and very comfortable whilst maintaining an old world feel. It was well equipped and close enough to town and quiet. It is obviously still being renovated so the front steps were difficult access to the cottage
- Terry (10/5): would stay again and will recomend - all especially heating latch on toilet door
- Gall (9/5): Superb -
