• 許 (10/5): Perfect room perfect owner! - The room was impeccably perfect, with all kinds of facilities and laundry stuff. The toilet, bathroom and room were very cozy and clean, without any strange smells also it’s very quiet. Most importantly, the owner was super nice and thoughtful. Even though we only stayed for one night, he still warmly picked us up and treated us well. We will definitely stay here again next time! Nothing!
• Lily (2/5): Unhygienic and dirty! Misleading reviews! - The host is very kind and collects you from the station and the property is in a good location. He gave us recommendations using translator as he doesn’t speak English and let us post our suitcases in advance. The property has a washing machine. Unfortunately, we had to leave this 2 night stay early to check into another hotel due to how dirty it was, losing the money as the host would not refund and blamed the cleaners. The host lives in the same building and always seems to be just outside, so I’m unsure as to why he didn’t check the condition of the bathroom. The bath was thick with dirt and there was someone else’s shaved hair on the walls- I don’t think it had been cleaned at all since the previous guest left. There was also dust on surfaces and stains on the walls. I understand this is cheap accommodation, however it was unhygienic and made us feel genuinely uncomfortable as we arrived too late to leave the first night. Really disappointing end to a perfect 3 weeks in Japan. Every other stay has been spotlessly clean. Never had to do a bad review before but want to be honest as I booked due to such high ratings and really, really regretted it and don’t want anyone to be in the same position!! Photos are to highlight why I had to give such a low review as I feel previous ratings were very misleading.

He came and picked us up from the metro station (and he gave us a lift when we departed!), gave us water, coffee, juice anytime he saw us during our stay. The first night, he also suggested a couple of places to eat at, as we arrived really late and everything was closed. We have never felt more at home and cared for. Would definitely book again! The place is really close to both Shin Okubo and Okubo stations. Nothing comes to mind

Situated in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of Shinjuku and close to the Yamamoto Line which runs Ito all major stations in Tokyo. Exceptionally helpful and friendly host who picked us up from the station and also dropped us back there when we left, handing us canned coffee and bottled water as we departed. Can’t speak highly enough of him! Highly recommend. Nothing. Everything as expected.

Además, nos ayudó en todo momento, además de ofrecernos agua, zumos y café. El apartamento está perfectamente equipado. Fue toda una experiencia dormir en futón, y fue realmente muy cómodo. • Sara (10/5): The kindest welcome we could have received to our first trip abroad. - Having just arrived in another country for the first time, my sibling and I felt a little overwhelmed. That's why we were so appreciative of our host for offering to drive us from the station to the accommodation. He gave us an explanation of nearby restaurants and grocery stores and walked us through everything that was provided in the apartment itself. The inside was clean and a perfectly acceptable size. The walks to Okubo and Shin-Okubo station are easy, with plenty of convenience stores, restaurants, and vending machines along the way. For being in Shinjuku, the area has a lot of foot traffic, but it was never too crowded and never felt unsafe. My sibling and I ended up having a great stay. If I ever come back to visit Japan, I'd love to stay here again. The host's hospitality was genuine, and it put us at ease in a way we won't forget.

• Kathryn (1/5): The worst experience travelling due to the aggressive host. - For the short time we were there it looked ok, if a little small. The owner. We arrived about an hour late to the property due to having travel issues. My daughter and I got separated at a train station with our heavy suitcases and that, along with bad weather and poor WiFi issues exacerbated our plans. I messaged the owner as we came upon these issues to tell him we would be late and to keep him updated as and when we had signal. When we arrived at the property the owner showed us a translated message on his phone saying how disappointed he was in us. We were very tired and wet and unable to communicate properly with him. He proceeded to show us around the property, all the while huffing and showing us his phone with all the messages he’d sent us while we were travelling, repeatedly asking us why we “hadn’t responded” when we had. I kept trying to explain and also asked several times to use the app he was using but he wasn’t having it. We didn’t know what to do at this point so we just kept quiet and waited for him to leave as he was very hostile. He eventually left and then I checked my phone again where he’d continued to send me messages saying he was upset with us. I replied to again to explain and also to ask him to stop messaging me and it felt like he was harassing us. We then had a knock at the door about 2 minutes later with several doorbell rings where he came in with his wife, continuing to show us his phone and all the messages he’d sent us. He was even more aggressive now and asking us why we were trying to make him feel guilty, yelling in Chinese. Again we tried to explain about the issues we’d had but he didn’t seem interested. His wife was kind to us and seemed sympathetic, trying to get him to calm down. She touched his arm gently in a motion for him to leave the issue be, and he then got angry with her and shoved her into the doorway of the bathroom. At this point things had gotten violent so we went into panic mode and pushed him away from her.
• Nara (10/5): Nice apartment fully equipped. - The host was super friendly and willing to help with anything. It is an actual apartment fully equipped with all the necessary ( microwave, stove, washing machine etc). It is well-decorated and comfy. None.
• Caitlan (10/5): A home from home in Tokyo - Our stay at the apartment was perfect. The room is charming, clean and comfortable. It has everything you could need from cooking facilities to clothes washing facilities. The location is great for exploring Shinjuku and close to Okubo Station. The host was extremely accommodating and friendly; he collected a parcel sent from the airport, stayed up to show us round after a delay at the airport and dropped us off at the subway when we were moving on (he also provided a water and a coffee which was appreciated on a 7am start). Couldn’t recommend more if you want a home away from home in Tokyo!

• Rachel (9/5): Great location, brilliant hosts! - The host was so helpful! He had offered to pick us up but we decided to walk, should have had a lift as we got lost (our fault). He met us at the property and showed us everything in the apartment (using google translate as didn't speak English). The apartment was very compact but had everything we needed including a washing machine which was really useful. We were out during the day so didn't spend a lot of time in the apartment so it didn't matter that it was quite small. When we left the host gave us a lift to Shinjuku main station, he was so helpful, he offered us drinks etc, really lovely guy. Sleeping on the floor is obviously traditional of a Ryokan in Japan, we're not really used to it coming from the UK so it is not a complaint at all. Just be aware that you will be sleeping on a thin mattress. Nothing to dislike.

The room was perfect, had everything we needed (fridge, microwave, dryer) including a small hottub and was very clean. It was so comfortable sleeping on the futon. He dropped us off on the station and even gave us water for the onward journey! I wish I could stay here longer!

The location is in a nice quiet area, but very accessible. The host is one of the best I’ve ever had - very good communication, even if we don’t share a language, and helpful in every way, including offering a lift and giving us drinks as it was hot outside. Could perhaps have a light switch or lamp where I slept, as sometimes was stumbling around when I got up - but a very minor point!

I especially liked the free shuttle services provided by the owner and would like to take this opportunity to thank the owner again to pick us at the Shin-Okubo station on a rainy day and sent us to the Limousine Airport Stop after check-out. But can I just say the host was above and beyond; he picked us up, gave us a full break down of the amenities and asked to drop us off in the morning to our next location and gave us tips and tricks + coffee to start off our morning! As a first night in Japan in was literally one of the biggest welcomes one could have and really set a nice hospitable tone for the rest of the trip. Genuinely don’t even think you get that kind of treatment at hotels. Highly recommend.

• Simone (10/5): The best stay in Shinjuku - We had the best time in this little apartment in Shinjuku. It might seem small but actually you have everything you need and there are many amenities provided that make your stay extremely comfortable: Soap, some coffee/tea, washing utensils, soap, umbrellas, etc. We also slept very well on the futons provided! The location is great - close to the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku, good shops and restaurants, while located in a nice and quiet neighbourhood! But the best asset of this place is the host: He picked us up at Okubo station, so we did not need to carry our luggage by foot to the apartment! He even drove us to Shinjuku Bus Terminal so we could catch our bus to Kawaguchiko… And when my hubby forgot his hat at the apartment, he mailed it to our next host! This is a level of service you normally only find in 5 star hotels - but then you also pay a ton of money for it! Thank you so much! Highly recommended!
• Michael (9/5): Amazing host and location. - You have everything you need in the appartment and it is very close to everything, metro and train station, convenient stores, nice boutiques. It is close to the center but not crowded. The host is very welcoming, kind, and helpful. I can only recommend this place to stay in a typical Japanese house.

• Patrick (10/5): A nice, furnished apartment in a good location. - It was fine. It was a fully furnished apartment in the local style, which was exactly what I wanted. The owner was easily available and willing to explain all the features and furnishings. The check-in and check-out procedure were not in the booking information, so when I arrived it took a little while to find out to contact the owner and get the keys.

• Arzu (10/5): A hidden treasure :) - This was one of the best stays we’ve ever been in. The host is so friendly and nice, he made us feel very welcomed and even picked us up and brought us to the station on our checkout day. He also gave us coffee, which was so cute. And we mastered the language barrier very well :) The house is really nice and we were staying in a typical Japanese home, which is a treasure for us as well es the beautiful Japanese neighbourhood. We definitely recommend this place! And the location was the best we’ve could have imagined for our trip. Nothing!

The host was so attentive, he answered all my questions very promptly even though he was on his own vacation abroad. The let me use a bike that was on the property. The place is very close to a shopping street, many restaurants and cafe, the subway and also a laundromat if needed. nothing

• Aldrick (10/5): For my next trip to Japan, I will definitely be looking to book at this place again! - The host was tremendously kind. He offered us coffee in the morning and made sure the place was tidy at all times. Plus, the location is fantastic for the price. Shinjuku had plenty for us to do without going too far from the place. If we needed to venture further, there was a train station within walking distance connecting us to the rest of Tokyo. The space was a little tight for three people.
