- Selina (5/5): - It was important for us to have parking—check! The apartment also had a washer and dryer, which was a huge plus since we had gone thrifting and needed to wash our finds. The space itself was very nice and clean, and the location was great—nothing was too far of a drive. One unexpected bonus was having a Target just a block away, which made it super convenient to grab supplies and any last-minute items we needed. They say you really get to know someone’s true nature in a crisis, and unfortunately, our experience reflected that. On our last day and a half, there was a power outage that lasted over 24 hours. To paint the picture: no hot water, no way to charge our phones, and no lights. There were also no flashlights or candles available in the apartment. When I reached out to our host, Devin, he simply suggested that we go buy a flashlight from Target, noting that it would be considered an EXTRA AMENITY. He also said that we could go find a hotel if we weren't happy. It was night time... This response felt lacking in hospitality and concern. We completely understand that the outage affected many people and didn’t expect an immediate fix, but a bit of proactivity—like providing candles or even showing some empathy—would have made a big difference. It was especially disappointing because communication had been great up until that point.
