Guest Reviews
- Larry (2/5): - Absolutely shocking. Nobody there when I arrived ;couldn't get in and had to find accommodation elsewhere.
Waiting for Expedia to give me my refund
- Janet (4/5): - Ari, the manager, was helpful and friendly. The property was a let down, but ok for one night.
- Michael (2/5): - Due to a booking mix up. I was moved to Collingwood. The property was unsanitary and no provision of towels and basic utensils.
- Ryan (1/5): Pathetic. - Was close to the MCG. Terribly rude tenants live there, loud, inconsiderate, up until 2am screaming loudly. The whole place smelt of curry and food. Was revolting.
The land lord double booked me some how. I booked a month in advance, and called the DAY BEFORE to say they had to move me to another residence. This was the worst place imaginable. The toilet bathroom was flooded with water. The rooms acoustics heard everything with 2km. I did not feel safe. THIS WAS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR - STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
- Eugene (1/5): Wrong describe about the room - None Based on describe in booking.com is totally wrong. Room is shared bathroom with toilet , people stay in other rooms long term for weekly rate. So they do not provide toilet paper , soap or any thing , the entrance is in other road without sign , the entrance door never used and display wrong multiple phone numbers .
When I call on booking .com conformation page number who ever answer the phone made me to wait 20 minutes then open the door and he introduce him self that he is not working and he is helping the landlord and he also a tanent and he was never told by landlord about my Reservstion, then he call and open the door to a room which is not clean after some one left ,, floor full of trash , trash can was full , sheets pillow covers are dirty , since it is non refundable prepaid I did not have choice and told him to clean the room and change the sheets , then he call his wife and that lady clean and I was helping to fix the room , no fan , no heater , no air condition , sharing toilet and bathroom total 2 for 10 rooms . Common kitchen I noticed and I did not go inside since some one cooking there ,
- Mark (2/5): - Despite booking a week in advance for 4 nights, I was told when I called ahead, that they knew nothing about my arrival. I was told to wait outside the property for the owner to arrive and let me in. This meant I was waiting on the street late at night for 20mins. Upon his arrival I was told there was no room at the original address and I was taken to another a short ride away. Once again there was no room so I was taken to a third property and shown inside. It was essentially a boarding house with approx 15 others living there. The kitchen was filthy and messy, the bathroom well used and unkept. The owner said he would get me bedding and left the property, returning 20mins later with a pillow (no pillow case) and 1 fitted sheet (that was too small for the mattress). Being late at night and having been on a long flight, I had no other choice but to sleep the night there...with no blankets. I expressed my displeasure at not being in my original booked accommodation and told the owner I would be leaving in the morning. He then promised a refund for the remaining 3 nights. This never happened. In the middle of the night I was woken by the residents talking and moving around the house. After many phone calls a refund has not yet occurred.
- Pamela (2/5): Never Again!! Not worth the money. - There were a few good points, but not enough to redeem this property from a bad score. 1/ the location - 2 minute walk max to tram & train stops. 2/ it was clean. 3/ My room was quiet & it had a window I could open for fresh air. 4/ My bed was comfortable with a reasonable mattress.
The cleaning lady who let me in was friendly. There is a small communal kitchen but nowhere to sit and eat. The advertising is very misleading. It is not even a hostel. It is a man who lets out spartan rooms at a high price for what is on offer.
First off: There is no signage or anything to tell you this is an accommodation place. Even the pub next door did not know what it was. The address in Victoria St is a closed down grungy shop front with no signage. The entrance is around the corner - a single door with a doorbell. No name, no sign, and no-one answers unless you have rung them to tell them you are there. But there is nothing in your booking confirmation to say you have make a phone call to be let in. Hostels at least display the name of their hostel and the phone number to ring if arriving after hours etc. This had nothing.
Secondly: The bedroom was absolutely basic & spartan. One bed, one desk & one chair. One single power point. One minimum watttage light globe. That was it!! Wooden floors but No carpet or rug. No bed lamp or side table.
Thirdly: One single small bathroom on the 1st floor with one toilet, one shower and one basin, but no shelf to place your toiletries, etc on. This serviced at least 4 rooms. I did not look in the downstairs bathroom but you had to walk down an outside passage to access it.
Fourthly: All the passage ways are lovely old wood, but they all creak. Pity if you have a room near the bathroom - you would hear everyone going past.
Finally: I arrived later than I had indicated when booking. I tried to contact them by phone whilst on the train to advise them, but could not find the number anywhere. I eventually had to get a taxi & stay at a friend's place for the 1st night of my booking because I could not gain entry. When I finally found the number & rang the owner, he was very unhelpful - wanting me to take another taxi back there so he could let me in. He was not very understanding.
