- Sarah (10/5): A gorgeous getaway! - Staff couldn’t be more welcoming and hospitable! Delightful stay in a very comfortable room! Lovely to have a beautiful breakfast included!
- Angela (10/5): Tarni and Clive were welcoming and considerate hosts. Recommend - The property was very charming, clean and walking distance to town Nothing we loved it

- Luis Miguel Camacho (10/5): Dreamy house with modern fixtures and a great breakfast! - Clive was a great host and showed us around before settling us down in our room. He even gave us his honest dining recommendations around the area. The entire place was stunning and we look forward to staying again but for longer so we can fully enjoy the shared spaces and beautiful back garden. Even though the house dates back to the 1860's, the room stayed warm because of the double glazed windows and central heating. When we woke up, we were greeted to freshly made bread and pastries in the dining room with coffee. There aren't any blockout curtains so if bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in! We wake up fairly early so didn't really mind plus it would've taken away from how beautiful the room looked.

- Deborah (10/5): Perfect place to stay if you’re visiting Woodend and surrounding areas. - Extremely welcoming hosts and a lovely room with everything we needed. Highly recommended. NA
- Christine (10/5): Wonderful stay close to the centre of town - Beautiful character, comfortable bedroom and we felt very welcome to use all the downstairs rooms and the garden as if I was in my own home Nothing
- Rod (10/5): Had a great stay and will look forward to coming again. Highly recommend. - Breakfast was modest in range (Continental) but the most amazing quality, bread freshly baked in-house, fresh berries/yoghurt/muesli and orange juice, topped off by the best barista coffee I have had in a long time. Nearby cafes could provide for those wanting a more substantial cooked breakfast but this was perfect for my needs.
The hosts were really charming and had their own interesting stories to tell, a creative (TV producer) and a daredevil (motorcycle racer). You can see that they are proud and passionate about their historic house and its surrounds.
The room was very comfortable, perhaps a little on the sparse side for some (e.g. wood floors, no TV or bar fridge), but full-on with historic charm from the nineteenth century, including sitting room and dining room downstairs decorated for the period, I loved it. The bed was particularly comfortable.
Location was good, in a quiet part of town but just a short walk to the restaurants, bakery, pubs etc that Woodend is known for. Even the Parkrun through the beautiful Campaspe River parklands conveniently started directly across the road.

The room was comfortable and close to everything with suggestions from Tarni which were spot on and fabulous. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Tami and Paul Nothing everything was as expected
- Steve (10/5): We highly recommend this exceptional property for its warm atmosphere, immaculate condition, comfortable room, and beaut - This property is an absolute gem! It was exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and had such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we loved relaxing in the beautiful shared lounge. The picturesque garden and pond were an absolute delight, and the delicious barista-made coffee in the morning was a luxury. We highly recommend this property to anyone and are already planning our return!
- Heulwen (10/5): Cosy, comfy and delightful - Breakfast, what is not to love about hot bread, freshly made on the premises for breakfast. Coffee was divine.
All the choices were perfect. The room was restful and the shower was strong and had the most gorgeous shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Last and not least quaint old fashioned bed with a super comfy mattress . The room was restful but if I had been there for a longer time, would have liked to watch movies on a screen.
- Kellie (10/5): Fantastic stay in Woodend - Islay house is a beautiful house. It is extremely comfortable and very clean. It is in a great location and you can walk to Woodend. The hosts are very warm and welcoming and give great information about the local area. The breakfast is amazing and the home made bread is the best we have tasted. We would highly recommend staying at this property.

- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, comfy bed, gorgeous host
- Robert (8/5): A period gem in a quaint, country town, with creature comforts. - Perfect breakfast with home made bread/pastries, berries, and coffee to die for. Gracious, obliging hosts. Fascinating historical context for the house and surrounds. Only one night but we will be back. Can't think of anything that could have been improved given that the property is essentially a heritage dwelling originally from the 1860s.
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional - Close to town within walking distance. Good breakfast
- Rose (10/5): Great location and yummy breakfast - The breakfast was really lovely. Especially the home made bread. The hosts are so friendly Nothing
- Bianca (10/5): Exceptional - Tarni and Clive were lovely hosts and the accommodation was cosy and inviting! My husband and I loved how central the location was, how homely the space felt and you can really see the effort that was put into the space.
- Cole (10/5): Cozy and homely. - The host was so lovely and accommodating, offering a delicious breakfast, some history, and recommendations for local food and activities. Wish we’d have stayed longer to enjoy the property’s garden and fireplace!
- Adam (10/5): Tarn & Clive have brought Islay House to life in the most wonderful way and are exceptional hosts. - Staying at Islay House was a dream. We had always admired the building as locals but having the opportunity to finally experience it was just wonderful, an amazing building full of charm and history! And to top it off you can ask ahead to be picked up by Clive in his 1928 Morris 12/4 if you arrive into Woodend on the train. Host's Clive and Tarny were a delight and made sure we had a comfortable stay with beautiful homemade coffee and local knowledge of places to eat out. The only thing we didn't like was they we couldn't stay longer!!
- Ken (8/5): convenient location, charming old building, lovely hosts. - excellent breakfast.
- Philip (9/5): Great hosts, great coffee, comfortable rooms and vibe. - Great vibe in an historic home with ensuite in our room and great coffee in the morning, if offered a Barista made coffee in the morning say Yes, it's better than the cafe's in town. Hosts were great.
- Louis (10/5): A warm welcome and a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend. - Breakfast was exactly what we like to eat. We enjoyed everything
- Emma (10/5): Great stay, incredible accomodation, great facilities and location. Highly recommend. - Really enjoyed our stay, room was very clean with great facilities. Tarni went above and beyond to make us comfortable and provided a very generous breakfast. Will definitely be back. No issues.
- Lorraine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dale (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptional hosts, very good breakfast, great property
- Xuan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful rooms and lovely property, large lusciously garden. Really good breakfast too! Great place to switch off and completely relax. Wonderful hosts. Everything was great
- Samuel (10/5): Beautiful house, great location and lovely hosts - Tarni and Clive were both really great hosts and made us feel very welcome! The location was great, the house and the room we stayed in were beautiful and the breakfast was lovely I have zero complaints about this place !
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely hosts
- Corinna (9/5): Local gem - The property has character. You can tell that the design choices have had a lot of thought put into it. I also love B&Bs that have some history behind it. The property is also walking distance to the town so we were able to walk to our dinner booking. I also wished we had more time to enjoy the beautiful garden.
Tarni was a wonderful host and always a pleasure to chat to when we had the chance. The house creeks a little but that's expected due to the age of the house. My husband and I are a bit sensitive to noise and could here the cars go by during the night. Fortunately it's not a busy town but again we are very sensitive to noise.
- Daryle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (9/5): Superb -
- Maneesh (8/5): Unique country house experience - love to go back again - The house has a unique old world country home charm with beautifully maintained gardens, lawns and even a pond with fish. We spent a day at the property thoroughly enjoyed the place and the warm hospitality of the hosts. The stairs leading up to the bedroom can seem quite steep for the elderly.
- Lee-anne (10/5): A charming retreat in a beautiful location - This was not just a stay, but an experience. A lovely heritage building filled with delightfully interesting objects - old books and teddy bears, intriguing furniture and knick knacks, beautiful artwork throughout and outside a wonderful, relaxing garden area, complete with pond and fish. And the hosts were so charming. Polite, helpful and some of the most interesting people I have met. Breakfast was seemingly simple, but with food of excellent quality- artisan cereals, pastries and still-warm, home baked bread. And not one, but two, well-made lattes. The bed was comfortable with good quality bedding, and the room a very generous size with a well designed modern bathroom. Would love to return for longer. No complaints at all, but just to note that there was no air conditioning. However, even with the temperature over 30 degrees, the whole house was lovely and cool, so we did not miss it at all. The Red Room was facing the street, with some minor traffic noise while the window was open, but not affecting sleep.
- Mary (10/5): Would highly recommend - Everything
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent place to stay with absolutely fantastic owners. Highly recommend this as a place to stay. Ideally located as it is only a few minutes walk into the main street

- Weston-arnold (9/5): Superb -
- Devdarshini (9/5): Great stay with a warm and welcoming host - Aesthetic and old world charm NA
- Maria (10/5): Excellent one night stay we will be back for sure! Thanks Tarni and Clive wish we had more time for the wonderful storie - Loved the old world house , beautifully presented, super comfortable and soo peaceful!
Well done on the restorations and all future bigplans . This is a couple with big dreams and not afraid! 🙏😀 Could not fault it !
- Mark (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - Beautiful country property Breakfast was nice but could have been better.
- Carmel (10/5): B & B ⭐️ - Location Breakfast were excellent
Hosts Tiarn and Clive made our stay extra special lovely warm people with loads of hospitality we will definitely be back and pass on our recommendations
- Mary (10/5): Perfect for a short break, centrally located and lovely heritage accommodation. - Islay House was just a few minutes away from the main street. Beautiful breakfast - gluten free options and excellent coffee.
Tarni and Clive, our hosts, were welcoming and very accommodating.
- Doreen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leannebb (10/5): Beautiful location, wonderful hosts. - The House is just beautiful. Location was amazing. Such a comfy bed. Would recommend this lovely Islay House to anyone. There isnt anything I can think of that I didn't like.
- Corey (9/5): The staff were lovely and I would visit again based on their hospitality and friendliness. - I loved the early interaction with Tarni via text message and that felt comforting.
The lounge room was lovely, cosy and we enjoyed the fireplace.
Breakfast was lovely and set us up for a really good day. I had a feeling that a “hot English breakfast” was going to be served.
Instead we were offered cereal, croissants and tea/coffee/hot chocolate.
I am not wedded to a hot breakfast, however it was just my assumption of that.
To be honest, the croissants were delicious and I I wasn’t disappointed that I didn’t get get a hot English breakfast.
- Ann (9/5): Like stepping back in time but with all the modern day conveniences - We loved the proximity to town - it was like staying in a little story book house with all the character too.
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional - The friendly hosts , the historical setting , lovely garden and Muddy
- Marni (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous accommodation, I will book again for sure
