Guest Reviews
- Carly (7/5): Cosy little getaway. Everything you need was there. Location was perfect. -
- Susan (9/5): A lovely stay in a great location. - This is a very cute and comfortable place to stay. We appreciated all the extras and the obvious attention to detail that really made the tiny house so enjoyable. Nothing we didn’t like, however, although it was fine for us, it would be good to know that the bed is against the wall on one side so it’s a little awkward to get out of in that side.
- Em (10/5): - Great location and setting. Very comfortable stay
- timothy (8/5): very nice cabin with allthe facilitiues for a comfortable stay - nice cosy cabin with all the facilities required for a comfortable stay slight road noise which calmed down at night time
- Kate (10/5): Gorgeous tiny home - Beautifully designed and well thought out small space. Breakfast hamper was lovely and there were even all the provisions to make pancakes. A beautiful edible bouquet too. Nice porch to sit on. Great location. Really enjoyed our stay. Smaller space so hard to find spots for luggage.
- Emma (10/5): - The entire stay was amazing, the location was quiet and peaceful. The food that was provided was great. We are very lucky that we stumbled across this amazing stay.
- Gav (10/5): Perfect, a great experience. We will most definitely choose to stay at this property again. - The location was perfect, exactly as described. The accommodation was fantastic, very clean, well equipped and the pantry extremely well stocked, the fresh herbs (which we used) were very welcome.
The outside area was great, a wood fire with fuel and fire lighters supplied along with the BBQ were perfect and really topped off our stay. The hosts were absolutely amazing.
Undoubtedly, this has been the best accommodation of this type we have ever stayed in.
In summary, a 100% great experience. Highly recommended. There is absolutely nothing we can say that we did not like.
- Kristina (10/5): Attention to detail and beautiful charm - Attention to detail and love and care put into this cabin is immediately apparent. It is spotlessly clean but full of character. The hosts were available and responsive but not in your space. Location was central for the island, private and quiet. Cabin is small but has everything you could need and more. Would absolutely recommend this stay and look forward to coming back in the future!
- Carissa (10/5): -
- Suchira (10/5): Perfect Bruny Island Stay :D - We liked this place so much for so many reasons!
- The property was super cute - had so much character and so many amenities including stocked kitchenette. The hosts had left some welcome goodies as well that really put a smile on our faces. They also had a very cute and intimate fire place area, with firewood and starter available.
- A very cute experience - A very cute tiny home experience that worked super well for two people.
- Super clean - The property was clean and tidy when we arrived. Felt like a home and felt like someone took care into looking after it. The separate bathroom and toilet were very clean.
- Location was awesome - located on the land of the owners, but still felt private. Could come and go without hassle, if that is what you are after. Also located near scenic Bruny Island locations, and had food options close by.
- Amazing hosts - The hosts were lovely. They were super kind, great communicators and went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. Having to leave. Thankyou to the hosts Rachel and Ben for a wonderful stay!
- Doblin (10/5): A treasure on Bruny Island. - All the special touches. Great food provisions from edible posy of garden greens to farm eggs, pancake mix and lovely teas. Well equipped and a super comfy bed. Friendly hosts who showed us around their garden and shared tips on what to explore and where to eat out. We also loved all the various books on small homes, garden design, nature and food.
Clear communication about how to find the place and further info provided to outline all that was on offer. Such a winner of a place! Nothing. It was the perfect base to explore Bruny and a treat after hiking and camping. We were made, very welcome.
- Lachlan (10/5): -
- Dell (8/5): -
- Antoine (9/5): Superbe séjour chez Ben et Rachel qui sont des hôtes très sympathiques et au petit soin. Mention spécial au petit déjeun - Le petit déjeuner et l’hospitalité des propriétaire était juste incroyable.
- Samantha (9/5): Perfect weekend get away for two - Perfect for 2 people, very well equipped little kitchen and so lovely to have fresh produce. You can tell the hosts have been very thoughtful and loved all the beautiful little details in the hut.
- Jing (9/5): - The little hut is very clean and carefully equipped and decorated. Though due to some misleading information on Bookings, like it can be converted to two beds…actually it can not. Owner manage to supply folded cusion and bedding though. The front natural yard and wood heating stove are very attractive and comfortable. Owners are very helpful and quick in response. This is a comfortable little eco hut ideally for solo or young couple.
- Guest (9/5): Wonderful stay - Everything was so good and amazing. Very neat and clean property. Cozy and cute vibes. The only thing that I felt uncomfortable with is cooking in the kitchen. I was bit scared as there was no exhaust fan and I have to leave the doors and window wide open even to fry eggs as I was scared that fire alarm might go on. Otherwise, it was wonderful experience and had amazing tea in that cute little tea pot.
- Jeremy (10/5): Awesome. - Everything about the property was amazing. Such acute attention to detail, and very clean and comfortable etc. Highly recommend. Nothing
- Kearney (9/5): -
- Claire (10/5): - The place was absolutely lovely and the local products for breakfast much appreciated. Ben was also super nice when we met him and he gave us very useful tips
- Jessica (9/5): - Fantastic mini eco friendly house. Had everything you needed. Lovely well stocked kitchen with fresh bread and eggs for breakfast. Bed was extremely comfy. Even got to see some padimelons in the morning. Would definitely stay here again. The grounds around the hut directly were mowed but I would liked to have explored the area a little more but was full of large prickly weeds.
- Denuwan (10/5): -
- Lee (10/5): - We loved it. Everything you need. Decorated perfectly so cute and comfortable. Was abit worried about the outdoor shower being cold...it was perfect. Even had paddymelons visit us last night by the fire. Definitely recommended Rachel and Ben have done an amazing job.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional, comfy and warm farm stay. - Exceptional experience with different living to the normal conditions we are used to but a wonderful stay. Great breakfast supplied and lovely to return after a day exploring Bruny Island. All excellent other than the weather. We’re looking forward to having wine and snacks outside with the fire unfortunately the weather didn’t allow us this part of our stay. Exceptional
- Brooke (10/5): -
- Jess (9/5): A peaceful, well-located stay with exceptional hosting and facilities - Exceptional stay!
The host was incredibly prompt and detailed in all communication, and the check-in instructions were crystal clear. The welcome pack was phenomenal —so thoughtful and well-stocked I didn’t need to buy anything else during my stay! The location was peaceful yet convenient, making it the perfect base to explore the island. Highly recommended!
- Erica (10/5): Beautiful little tiny house, very comfortable and cosy, lovely spot and outlook, great hosts - Breakfast was simply wonderful - beautiful homemade bread, farm eggs, homemade jam and plentiful butter, coffee, tea - even Bircher muesli mix and pancake mix with instructions included! Best breakfast I have ever had at any b&b!
- Katerina (10/5): - Amazingly well designed and exceptionally clean farm stay. From the edible posy and organic breakfast to beautiful home decor and instantly hot water in the super functional bathroom. We love it all.
- MINJIE (10/5): 完美的住宿. - 位置方便,舒适整洁 不好找
- Madeleine (10/5): Very thoughtful and generous owners who have made this farmstay something really special -
- Eva (10/5): Expectational 🥰 - We Loved how private the hut is, very well designed and we felt as though it was taken care of, loved and better still incredibly clean to the point we felt as though we where their fist ever guests ☺️ The owners Ben and Rachel where inviting, very professional and warm, we didn’t feel intruded or overwhelmed with their hospitality. Highly recommend this property if you are curious or living a conscious eco friendly lifestyle that’s actually true to their word ❤️
- Kelsey (10/5): Cozy and comfortable, with fantastic hosts - Loved the fresh bread, eggs, jam etc we were provided with. Ben and Rachel were kind enough to bring us the bbq and some extra fire wood. The hut was cozy and bed was so comfortable. Highly recommend
- Jack (10/5): -
- Gilbert (10/5): fairy tale - the home made bread . The Jam & honey.
The edible flowers .
Small and romantic place filled with love and generosity.
- Barry (10/5): - The breakfast provided was excellent. Sufficient choice and tasty.
- Lance (9/5): Good for a short stay - Cosy and comfortable little hut, with a fully-equipped kitchen. Central location to most things on the Island. Had everything you need for breakfast . Cosy but cluttered.
- Andrew (10/5): looking forward to going back - Loved it and looking forward to going back not much
- Rochelle (10/5): A perfect example of how enjoyable little luxuries away from home should be - Location was perfect, beautiful environment and thoughtful homely touches eg: edible posies, which made our stay extra special.
- Simone (10/5): - Fantastic tiny home with everything you need. Great location and the fire was wonderful
- David (9/5): -
- JieSheng (8/5): Good place to stay the night - Cosy and comfortable little hut, with a fully-equipped kitchen Bathroom and toilet are next door, so you need to make a scramble in the cold weather. The hosts have put much thought into making them as comfortable as possible, though.
- Fowler (4/5): Expensive for what we got - Good Bed was against wall, one out all out during the night. Toilet and shower were outside, pretty cold in the middle of winter
- Kelcey (10/5): Tiny home stay - Welcome treats left in the kitchen (cookies, eggs, sourdough) were a lovely touch. Comfy bed and pillows. Central to most activities on the island. We loved our tiny house stay and can't wait to come back again.
- Pia (10/5): 10/10 accommodation. - A wonderful little spot to soak up nature and unwind. Would recommend to everyone!
- Tia (10/5): We loved our stay!! Such a beautiful stay! -
- Juri (10/5): Exceptional - The little fancy hut is made of dreams. Everything is adorable, clean and tidy. The owner, Rachel prepared a loaf of bread, cookies, eggs and fresh leafy veggies for us so I could cook a perfect breakfast with them. You can enjoy the fire outside. It's located in the middle of Bruny Island. Can see wildlife like wallabies at night. I wish I could stay there longer…
- Saunders-barker (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, hosts were amazing - Very quaint, warm and cosy visited in the Winter Going out to the toilet, as we visited in the Winter
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikki (9/5): Small and sweet! Dont bring too much they have everything you could possibly need and more! - I’ve never stayed in a tiny house, and I must admit that the owners did such an incredible job of a) giving everything a space without it being claustrophobic and b) giving the home a real house vibe. What a gorgeous little place, beautiful books to read, colouring pencils, a free loaf of bread! Fresh eggs and fresh fruit, cereals and complimentary milk. What a lovely little charming space. I absolutely loved it I have never used an eco loo before, I must admit I was a bit spooked by it but it grew on me, showing “outside” without a heat lamp was a rustic experience, I didn’t hate it I’m just struggling to think of a negative thing to say about the place (which really isn’t a lot, I thought it was gorgeous)
- Tim (8/5): Very good - Lovely private spot and a great little cabin that had everything you could possibly need. Being quite close to the main road, there was a bit of traffic noise.
- Lucy (10/5): A holiday highlight! - We loved our stay in the shepherds hut. It was the perfect place to spend a night on Bruny and we can’t wait to come back.
Thank you Rachel for a lovely stay and for the treats you left us☺️
- Sonnie (10/5): Exceptional - The little home away from home was an absolute treasure. There are lots of interesting books to check out with morning coffee on the deck. Different wildlife would visit during the stay, and there was also a tiny pony that wandered over to say hello.
The location was perfect to explore the island and easy to find. It's very close to the bread fridge, but you need to be quick to purchase a loaf because it's very popular. The Bruny Hotel is their local or The Izzy for pizza. Otherwise, eating at the Holy Hut outside by the fire and under the stars is amazing.
The inside was very clean and comfy to rest at night. There are plenty of food and drink choices for breakfast before adventuring. The hot shower was relaxing, and water pressure was lush.
Definitely recommended for solo traveller or a couple. The only thing I didn't like was that I had to leave because my holiday was coming to an end.
- Eve (10/5): A home-away-from-home feel to it; comfortable and relaxing. - Attention to detail. Well set up with lovely plants, great books, welcome pack of eggs and home-made bread. Peaceful location.
- Peter (8/5): Not a regular hotel or holiday home experience, and all the better for it - Nicely done Tiny Home with separate shower and eco toilet accessed from balcony. Small space, but it's a....tiny home. Comfortable bed and couch, well equipped small kitchen and good breakfast foods laid on with nice home made bread.
Easy check-in process, easy location to find 4 minutes from main town on Bruny. Some folks might not love going outside for the bathroom in the middle of winter, but it's two steps and under cover, so all part of a proper Tas winter adventure. And the shower is rustic excellence.
- Tamitha (10/5): The highlight of our trip. - The little hut, was amazing. We are from Qld and in the hut was so warm. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. I would definitely recommend this stay. If you are going to Bruny Island as a couple stay there you won’t regret it.
- Michael (10/5): Such a wonderful tiny home - The Shepherd's Hut is so wonderfully established and thoughtfully put together, that my partner and I regretted only staying 1 night! With fresh eggs, baked cookies and cereal on the counter on entry, milk in the fridge, and all sorts of teas and tasmanian blend coffee available - the owners showed care and consideration in making this a welcoming home. The environmentally conscious approach to the bathroom matched the asthetic of the tiny home feel and surrounding landscape, with Australian soaps and shampoos bringing native scents to the experience. Inside was warm and full of soft furnishings, with a heater and blankets there to take the chill away. The owners thought of everything you could possibly need - with plates, cutlery, cooking tools, a 2-burner stove, fridge, kettle and microwave available. The inclusion of books about Tasmania, games for people to play and a torch for the night was a wonderful bit of detail. Regrettably, we didn't have the time to utilise the wood fire, but appreciated the setup as it was positioned looking into the surrounding land. This is clearly a much loved accommodation and was a space we felt immediately at home in for our short stay.
- Jacksonbannah (9/5): Superb - Great little accommodation for something different. We always wanted to try staying in a tiny home and are glad we did this.
- Heather (8/5): Comfortable cute accommodation. - Choice of breakfast cereal, fruit eggs and biscuits provided, pantry items available. Lots of books to read.
Lovely big covered verandah with comfortable chairs as well as fire available in garden.
- Lesley (9/5): Amazing -
- Theo (9/5): Glad we decided on this place - Bread was excellent. Fire worked well. Amazingly good shower. Bed was a bit challenging for an older couple but we managed. No problem for youngies. Some shade over the balcony seating area would have been better.
Enjoyed the environment and quirkiness of the place.
- Julien (9/5): Superb - Holly Tree Hut is a thoughtfully designed cozy space. It was very clean and had clear instructions for using the facilities.
- Vicky (10/5): Absolutely love this tiny cosy house. - Great location, close to everything. Love all the amenities that prepared by the host, and the fire pit was a great addition for the stay. Nothing
- T (9/5): Superb - Quaint lodging but clean and functional. Very comfortable. Great pastries and fresh eggs were a treat. Better marking for non local travelers would be nice, drove right by it
- Kayla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Watthikorn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jen (9/5): Superb - Well equipped kitchen with provision of freshly baked bread and delicious biscuits, eggs, apples and many more. Comfortable bed and clean, cosy little cabin. Thoughtfully prepared a torchlight to view penguins. Clean and environmentally conscious toilet and bathroom. Well decorated room with creatively made furniture. Rachel had provided us a clear direction to the place and a personalised instruction sheet for the use of the electrical appliances etc. Ben patiently gave us the orientation. Many thanks to Rachel and Ben for the warm hospitality. A toilet with no lock from inside. My friend was afraid to go out to the toilet at night and felt uncomfortable.
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Boko (9/5): Superb - It was very cute and comfortable for a tiny home That they were generous in giving us fresh eggs and bread, also I was happy that I experienced living in a minimal way without leaving a large footprint.
- Yang (10/5): nice stay - I love Shepherds Hut SO SO SO much. It was a fantastic, wonderful stay. It is small but has enough room for a couple. Bathrooms are a little bit cold in winter, but as a accommodation on island, Shepherds Hut is really good.
- Zhou (10/5): perfect, perfect and perfect - Unexpectedly great. Very good living experience for a reasonable price.
Location: Excellent, in the heart of Bruny Island, very convenient to go anywhere.
Room comfort: Super good, very warm, all the designs are very thoughtful. The temperature was just right for sleeping, and it was very quiet.
Service: Extremely good, with a lot of ingredients and seasonings prepared, as well as kitchen utensils, allowing guests to freely decide their meals. The host was very nice and very enthusiastic, we really liked her.
You can have a BBQ outdoors by making your own fire.
Everything is perfect, and we will choose this place again next time.
- John (9/5): Excellent experience - Unique quarters - lovely reference library - great experience memorable stay - loved fresh bread & eggs
- Charles (7/5): Good -
- Kendall (10/5): Exceptional - This quaint cosy cottage exceeded all expectations.
The location was perfect in the middle of South Bruny, close to everything.
The finishing touches Rachel added of fresh eggs, bread, homemade honeycomb and jam is the cherry on top of this humble abode.
If your looking for a tranquil quiet getaway, this is the place, better than perfect!.
Thankyou Rachel and Ben for a fabulous holiday, you've built and provided an amazing homestay.
Regards
Kendall, Dave and Charlie
- Leonie (10/5): I would recommend others to stay and I will be back. - It was small, and big enough. Location was great and the eggs and bread upon arrival was just yummy.
Having blackberries out the front was yummy, just picking what I wanted.
- Lorna (10/5): Relaxing Farm Stay - Rachel and Ben had a delicious loaf of homemade bread for our stay
They went beyond our expectations and built a deck to the hut and placed comfortable chairs on the deck
We had a very relaxing farmstay Nil
- Dave (8/5): Very good - Unusually different and beautifully fitted out with so much detail. The sofa was too high to sit comfortably especially with a plate on your lap.
- Quinn (10/5): Beer cheese bread and fire pit - More like what we didn’t like which was nothing. It’s so peaceful. Loved the view of the old house from the kitchen window. Loved there bird life. Loved the fire pit. Loved the care which has been put into this country accomodation all the well thought out things like cookies. Bread. And eggs from your girls. Can’t wait to visit again. Thank you so much Nothing
- David (10/5): The hosts Rachel & Ben were excellent hosts. - Wonderful meal with fresh home made bread, eggs, and cookies etc. Milk, butter and jams along with tea & coffee were also provided. All the necessary cooking facilities made meal (breakfasts) a pleasure. There wasn't any thing we disliked as the facility was as per the description on the website. Our hosts were very friendly and nothing was a problem when asked for assistance.
- John (9/5): A relaxing stay in a beautifully presented, rustic hut. - The property was beautifully presented and ideal for a couple. NA
- Meng (10/5): Exceptional -
- Avril (10/5): Beautiful homely, loved spot, real care has been put into creating a perfect nature loving rest. - Location, decoration, care for nature, bed, home made Brea DC and cookies.
- David (9/5): Superb - The loaf of freshly baked bread and cookies were a nice surprise when I arrived. The cabin was newly renovated so was very fresh. Was in a tranquil, yet central location to access both ends of the island. The owners live on site, but I didn't actually see them until I was getting ready to leave. I stayed for two nights and would definitely stay again. Disregard the heritage house as you pull in. Hosts live behind the house in a large colourblond shed and plan on fixing the house up. Property is unlocked, and there is no need to make contact with the host. A message can be found inside with all required information.
- Bryan (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation is a tiny but beautiful and well equipped hut. The place was clean, the breakfast fantastic and the area cozy. N/A
