Guest Reviews

- Barra (7/5): - Ideal location. Two minutes walk to Old Town west gate, bus stop/taxi rank and Sulic Beach. TV with streaming apps (need your own account), hot shower with good pressure (no toiletries). Quiet laneway, no noise. Small communal balcony. Shared small kitchen is barren (no teas, coffee, milk, sugar provided). Host firm and serious on check-in. Felt like we were staying in an aunt's house - scared to make any noise coming in/out. We had a nighttime flight out and no left luggage option. Best place for left luggage is across from the cable cart station (also where airport shuttle bus goes from)
- Viktoriia (10/5): Perfect room in a great location - Squeaky clean room, ironed bed sheets, everything is new, we were impressed. Amazing location, 2 min walk to the Old Town gates and 5 min to Lovrijenac Fort. Hostess was very welcoming. Overall great experience, we’re really grateful!
- susan (6/5): -
- Melina (6/5): Good value for money and great location - The location, the cleanliness, good value for money. Acceptable for 2 nights. The host was not welcoming at all, rude and cold-hearted. We had to beg her to leave our luggage since early check-in wasn’t possible. The bathroom is very small and there wasn’t enough hot water to shower on our last night.
- Roman (8/5): -
- tom (7/5): Excellent location. Great for solo travelling. Not for couples. - Fantastic location, 2 minutes from Old Town. Very central. Easy to pop back if you needed to during the day. Bathroom was very small. Room
wasn’t cleaned each day. Had a bit of trouble checking in as nobody was answering the doorbell or phone initially.
Uz by som nevyuzila
- Corne (9/5): We had a great stay at De Spot Guest House. The location is perfect and it had all the necessary facilities. They were h - The location was amazing, right by old town and easily accessible Nothing! it was exactly as described and met expectations.
- Luiz Carlos (9/5): - Proximidade com Pile Gate 200m Nada a acrescentar
- Fabian (9/5): - The location is unbeatable, literally steps away from everything. The room was clean and equipped with everything I needed. The host was incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive. She even look after my luggage after check-out so I could enjoy the city a bit longer. Highly recommended! Nothing
- RFP (10/5): -
- Linella (8/5): Perfect for short getaway - I really liked that the host was very welcoming. She made sure that me and my friend arrived smoothly and checked in. She explained us the facilities calmly and gave a few recommendations about dinner and places to go. She was a really warm woman and an amazing host. I think the property was a bit outdated, and the building was old. The water system was a bit weird, such as when you flushed the toilet, nor the sink water or shower were working. Also there were some visible wall damages and bugs. For a short stay it is the perfect location, but some improvements need to be made. Also by looking at the pictures we thought we would get a room with a view, but we got one at the first floor, where it was really cold and we couldn’t really keep the windows open since people were passing by. However, the AC helped and it was ok.
- Senaid (10/5): - Lokacija, ljubazno osoblje, blizina prodavnica.
- Patricia Olga (8/5): -
- Telar (7/5): - Moderno opremljena soba, jako lijepa i udobna.
- Thelma (7/5): - Accessible to everything. The staff. She's not a happy person. She didn't tell us if we can use kitchen facilities. She just told us to turn off the lights when ever we go somewhere.
- David (9/5): Lovely room with kind and helpful hosts! - A lovely room right in the centre of Dubrovnik, the live-in host is really kind and helpful as is the booking host, they went out of their way to help at all times and cannot thank them enough 😊 the room is cosy, warm and clean and has all facilities needed. I would really recommend to stay here when in Dubrovnik.
- Marthe (7/5): - Very well located Street level so loud when passer by
- Noemi (9/5): -
- Phil (10/5): Incredible location and lovely host -
- Tatjana (10/5): -

- Netty B (9/5): Great value - Location was outstanding, great value for money, perfect for my requirements clean, spacious and a 2 minute walk to Pile Gate. Lady was very pleasant and accommodating, let me store my large suitcase Nothing
- Etzion (8/5): -
- Derick (7/5): Dubrovnik Adventure! - Review on behalf of Michael Budynkiewicz: Bottom apartment. Apartment inside was satisfactorily. Some issues experienced - the noise, footsteps morning and evening, from the top room was very challenging and really made the stay frustrating for us. No change of towels or beddings. Difficult to get hold of the caretaker to voice our discomfort with the noise and towels/beddings. N/A
- Luke (8/5): -
- Yun-Jae (8/5): -
- Alexandra (8/5): Fantastic stay in superb location - Superb location, right next to the old town and also next to a small cute beach. This is a traditional sea side building - the rooms on the ground floor tend to be humid and it needs a lot of ventilation. For short stay for us it was ok, but i don’t think its optimal for longer stay as towels and wet bathing suits are drying slow and are contributing to the humidity.
- Maria (7/5): Expensive for the quality, but great location - The location is by far the highlight. Very close to the Pile gate and also to one of the free beach areas. The host was also very nice. Water pressure in the bathroom was great. Pictures make it seem more modern and far bigger than it is. Bathroom was very small, a bit claustrophobic, everything was cramped inside and you had to bend yourself to open the door and get in and out, and it also seemed like it was a bit old and needed some work. Walls are very very thin, this isn’t really a hotel or hostal, it’s rather a house where you rent the spare rooms (you’ll see the owner around as you come in and out). There’s no elevator and the stairs are extremely narrow. Common areas aren’t really usable (there’s nothing but a kettle and some spoons). Overall I think it’s way too expensive for the quality of the housing, but guess this is the price to pay to stay in Dubrovnik!
- George (9/5): Recommend this if you need near the old town. Easy access from bus stop to apartment - It’s so near to Pile Gate, the “gateway” to Dubrovnik old town. There are a few flights of stairs from the Pile bus stop to the apartment but not too bad if you don’t have mobility issues. my room is 2 storeys above the ground. No lift. But the room is clean and smell nice. Airconed as well. Attached Bathroom is fine and the shower strength is strong. The host was a very nice and friendly lady. Recommend this if you need some accommodation nearer to Dubrovnik old town instead of having to endure the irregular bus schedules from the outskirts to the old town. Flight of stairs from the ground floor to 2nd storey especially the luggages. Then nothing else.
- Michal (9/5): -
- Chee Hiung (6/5): - Toilet is extremely small.... Room is small too.... Not value for the money for sure
- Kay (8/5): -
- Tom (9/5): -
- Joana (7/5): Great location - Very close to the old town and to some beaches, quite calm. The bedroom and bathroom are quite small but work for a few days.
- Anthony (10/5): A comfortable stay in a great location. - A lovely and welcoming guest. Amazing location. Simple and clean.
- Jiatong (8/5): -
- Łukasz (7/5): - Localization - perfect Lady, who is take care about apartaments was everyware… I do not like it.
- Haley (8/5): Good location and stay for the value right in the bustle of Old Town Dubrovnik. - Great location. Very central to both the water and old town wandering. Clean and good ac. Could have done with some more towels for the beach or had some of the utilities explained, like if we could use the common fridge for example. Host was brusque, but reliable.
- Brian (8/5): Very good - Great location near the old gate within walking distance to two beaches. Room and bathroom were much smaller than expected. Would not recommend for younger couple or people as the lady living there is not a fan of young people. She tends to keep a close eye on when you are coming and going. Unless you plan on coming back early at night this is not the place for you
- Sharon (7/5): Pleasant, great location but know what you’re booking - Location is excellent. Our flight was delayed and we were accommodated late. The host lady is friendly but can be sharp. Bed is comfortable, pillows especially so. Air conditioning is provided. Shower is good. Room cleaned daily. Communication is good on booking.com. All queries answered in a reasonable time.
Note for travellers arriving late, Uber would not take us from the airport. It was maybe the time (about 1:30am) but we had to get a taxi to old town entrance and walk. Fortunately we got a reasonable price as we got a lovely driver but could have been charged much more. Towels: Our booking was Monday to Saturday. Two large towels and two hand towels were provided. I was travelling with a friend. We both have long hair but only had one towel each for showering/washing hair. They were replaced on Wednesday but the hand towels were removed. On Friday, we asked for the showering towels to be replaced again. Bear in mind, it’s over 30 degrees and we’ve only one towel each so wanted that to be refreshed. The landlady replied “yes, but this is not a hotel, replacing towels twice in 5 days is sufficient. A matter of opinion and not mine. It isn’t a hotel but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for fresh towels every second day when only one washing towel per person was provided. A sharp response to a simple request. It’s not a hotel but you are providing a service to paying customers.
Stairs: The stairs are steep and there’s no railing. Potentially dangerous especially in the dark.
Bathroom: Tiny. It’s so small you’ve to step into a space in order to get the door open. We were able to manage but I think it would be potentially difficult/uncomfortable for larger people. It’s essentially a cubicle in Room 3 with a shower. Railings for shower items is on the ground. Would be better to have this at arms length.
My opinion on booking was that it was a separate unit. This is not the case. It’s a room within a shared space. The sink/kettle is downstairs.
- Steven (9/5): Quiet Room adjacent to Old Town, Fortress, Beach, and Transit - I loved walking narrow ancient stone streets arriving 'home' to my Dubrovnik apartment. Located two minutes by foot from the "Dubrovnik Times Square" (Pile Gate), this apartment is silent and peaceful. Even though the apartment is outside the old city walls, its neighborhood felt like an extension of that, with twisty foot-traffic only streets with some secret gems for you to discover.
Travellers flying in/out of Dubrovnik airport need to know: The airport shuttle bus goes to Ploce Gate, which is 850m walk from this apartment. As of June 2025, the airport shuttle bus does not go to the Pile Gate bus stop, which is 100m from this apartment. The Pile Gate has many buses, but none go to/from the airport. (Since traffic here is often one-way, if you're leaving Dubrovnik by air, then the shuttle bus pickup point isn't Ploce Gate, rather its the Cable Car bus stop.)
Travellers arriving by sea can take Bus 1A or 1B from Port Gruz to Old Town, which terminates at Pile Gate bus stop. From there, it's a 100m flat walk.
Having a car would be a major hassle. The photographs on booking.com make the room look newer than it really is. Please expect creaky floors and evidence of multiple room remodels. I don't know the history of the building, but it is not new and wasn't built for tourists. But it's all good.
- Karthini (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rubi (10/5): Clean & comfortable. Extremely well located in quiet pedestrian street 5 mins walk from Pile gate - Small communal kitchen area with washing up facilities, plates, mugs, glasses, cutlery, shared fridge, kettle.
Small terrace on 3rd floor with lovely views across to old fortress; table and chairs. Partly in sun, partly shade so always somewhere comfortable to sit.
The concierge was a lovely lady who was very helpful and always around to answer questions or assist.
Small supermarket less than 5 mins walk away - useful for milk, cold breakfast, etc.
Pile gate 5 mins walk; Pile square < 5 mins walk. Nothing
- Martin (6/5): Pleasant - Bed was comfortable
Localization Shower
Small room
- Alfred (10/5): Exceptional - The old lady is warm and friendly. Room is clean and everything tidy. Nothing
- Liisak (9/5): Superb - Apartment is very clean. It is also close to the busstation, Konzum and the old town port. The lady of the house is friendly!
- Paula (9/5): Superb - The location in particular & the hostess, Eva. We were in room 3, the tiny bathroom was extremely small, difficult to close the door when going into the bathroom.
- David (7/5): Lovely country - Property was in a good location. The shower leaked water all over the bathroom.
- Kelsey (9/5): Superb - Excellent location right outside the gates of old town. Comfortable for my short visit to Dubrovnik. No frills, but for the low price it's exactly what I expected. The lady who manages the property is very sweet and made me feel welcomed. The doors only lock and unlock from both inside and outside with a physical key, just would prefer doors that opened easily from the inside in case of an emergency.
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - Great location. Clean with everything I needed (iron, hairdryer etc.) Not that I didn't like just found the bed rather hard for my liking but that's personal preference
- Jason (7/5): Good -
- Miller (10/5): What a location! - So close to the old city entrance!! Helpful shops and restaurants are just steps away too, yet it's still a quiet "around the corner" room. Huge bathroom. Host was very nice and professional. Parking is hard to find nearby and expensive (even during March, the off season). We ended up Ubering us and all of our bags from the parking lot to the room for €6 each way, otherwise would have been about a mile walk up hills. It's perfect if you don't have a car and plan to walk anyway.
- Moon (9/5): fairly good. - The location is super. Right outside of old city. Bus line is right there.
- Margarita (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location, two minutes from the old town gates. Stunning view from the terrace. Really nice host, the price was absolutely great because of the low season Quite small bathroom. And also we stayed there 2 friends, but had 1 duvet only (and then we got 2 blankets, but definitely it was not the same as a warm duvet.
- Alena (9/5): Superb - Everything was great, the room was pretty big with a large comfortable bed, was clean and bright. The host was really nice and helpful, my room was ready even earlier than stated. The location is perfect, just steps away from the Old Gate and the beach, where you can go for a swin. I highly recommend this accommodation! The room was a bit pricey but everything in Dubrivnik is not cheap, I would say. So, compared to other accommodations, it wasnt expensive and was a great deal combining price, location, and room itself.
- Marco (9/5): Excellent stay with top host 👍🏼 - Proximity to Old Town No small fridge in the room
- Ankica (9/5): Superb -
- May (7/5): Good - Great location
- Gillian (9/5): Dubrovnik Croatia - Eva is a very attentive hostess and does her best to make your stay comfortable. Very quiet location. The location close to the Old City, bus, groceries and beach is excellent. . There is no microwave to heat food. Only a jug for boiling water. I didn't like locking the doors every time you come and go, but I guess that is standard for Europe .
- Anna (8/5): Fantastic location and made to feel welcome - Excellent location, great value for money. Very friendly staff. Nice little terrace. Noise travelled a little within the building.
- Patrick (9/5): Superb - Great location, friendly host and good facilities
- Olivia (8/5): Very good - The location is perfect which is close to the old town and it is still a quiet place to stay. The host was very friendly and provided us midnight check in due to our midnight flight arrival. She even helped us to carry the luggage to the 2nd floor of the apartment. We knew the room is quite cozy when we booked and it is exactly what the photos look.
- Anna (10/5): Perfect location, great host, clean. I would stay again and highly recommend. - Perfect location, great host, clean. I would stay again and highly recommend. Nothing, was perfect!
- Regina (10/5): Great location - The whole place was great. Near the old town, and the beach was only a 15 minute walk. The windows in the room worked so well, for an old house, that we couldn't hear any street noise. The inside walls are thin, but that was not an issue.
- Sheila (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location close to the wall
- Sohar (8/5): The location Is great , the host is very nice , the apartment is very comfy - The host was wonderful and very kind. The property is conveniently located next to the old city, making it easy to access attractions and restaurants. The apartment itself was a good size and comfortable, adding to the overall positive experience. My room was located right at the entrance of the property, and it felt as though I was practically on the street due to the window being on the walking path. It was quite noisy, especially when guests arrived at night and rang the doorbell. This woke me up several times, which was very frustrating. I believe the check-in process could be improved to avoid this disturbance.
Additionally, I found three bugs in the bathroom, which may have been due to the room being on the ground floor. Overall, these issues impacted my stay, and I hope they consider addressing them for future guests.
- Elizabeth (1/5): Bad - DO NOT STAY HERE. I am not one to write reviews but I felt I needed to share my experience so no one else has to go through what I am.
First when I got the property, the pictures are much nicer online than in person, it gives hostel vibes (nothing wrong with that but for the almost $200/nt I wasn’t expecting this). The beds were only given a fitted and top sheet, I had to ask for a blanket (see orange blanket in pic.; being American I like to sleep in the cold with some weight on me). If you’re in one of the top floor rooms, you have to go down two flights of stairs to get anything from the fridge or make tea. The walls are incredibly thin, I could hear the beeps from the AC unit when the guests in the room across from me were adjusting it.
These are all minor issues, this is what made me leave and the saga that has happened afterwards. On my day of arrival I checked in, got settled then went to explore the town (the lady who lives there and does the housekeeping didn’t see me leave), I come back everything is normal in my room. The next day, I leave (house lady sees me leave) and when I return, my AC had been shut off (it’s 95F everyday currently) and my door left unlocked. I called booking.com, explained what had happened and asked for a refund because I didn’t feel my items were safe anymore. When I asked the house lady if they could please respond to booking.com’s emails/phone calls, she said she has nothing to do with that, and then asked what was wrong I told her someone went in my room and she played dumb like she had no idea what I was talking about, and I know the guests for the other rooms hadn’t done it cause they were all checked out, there was no one else on the property except her and I.
Long story short, it has been over two weeks since I left (I left immediately and booked somewhere else) and booking.com and myself have been trying to call the contact number but it is just being ignored, and booking.
- Samira (10/5): Amazing Guest House close to Pule Gate - The house is 3-5 minutes to bus station, Pile Gate and old town. It’s situated in a quiet street and still close to everything. The room is clean and the bed very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay and Iva is an amazing host, always reachable.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Derek (9/5): Superb -
- Kosta (10/5): Location, 2 min from the sea, 2 min to old town gate - THE location. It's a unique experiance, a vintage Dubrovnik house that is very clean and modern on the inside. Also the shared balcony view is beautiful! Hostess is kind, dear Ivka ❤️
- Mk (10/5): Great location - Great location and few minutes walk from old town in a quiet street off the main road with a lovely lady who looks after the property. Thin walls and doors so you can hear movement and talking at various points in the night, maybe bring ear plugs for super light sleepers.
- Belen (10/5): Excelent. - It was very well located and comfortable.
- Elisha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bayan (6/5): Recommended - The live-in host was very kind and friendly. She's super clean and always ready to assist.
The location was perfect. 2 min walk to pile gate. Everything is near, and there's not too much stairs to get there.
The room is private. The ad is a bit confusing. There's no clear mention of this being a 1 room in a shared apartment.
The bathroom is tiny.
- Oleksandr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wilven (8/5): It was good even the check in was delayed. - It is near in the old town very accessible. We are waited so long to check-in.
