William (8/5): Great apartment near Copacabana Beach - The apartment is just a short walk away from Copacabana beach, close to cafes, restaurants and bars, and many other shops. The neighborhood feels safe compared to the stories we were told, and nothing untoward happened to us, but we were still careful. The host and apartment complex staff were helpful and responsive! The apartment has a fridge, microwave and stovetop, so it's possible to do some food preparation in the apartment. There's also a water filter so you don't have to keep buying bottled water! There are some disadvantages during a long stay - there were only two towels, and there's no in-unit laundry, and the towels and sheets are not replaced when the cleaning staff come through. With the humidity making things dry slowly too, it becomes very hard to have dry towels! There's no kettle in the apartment, so making tea is inconvenient (microwave, or maybe stovetop?). The apartment has a bit of a smell and seems more worn than the photos suggest. Location-wise, we actually preferred the beach and restaurants in Ipanema, where it is also possible to get places close to the beach.
