Guest Reviews
- David (6/5): -
- Guest (10/5): The place was nice, clean and convenient. Overall, just as I had expected from the pictures. - The communication was amazing. She was very nice and provided all possible information beforehand including a guide how to get to the accommodation from the airport by multiple ways of transport, all codes and house rules. Furthermore, she replied very quickly and was very nice. After booking they asked if it was okay to move me to a different room due to some issues en send me the new pictures, evrything matched this and was almost identical to what I initially booked so I had no issues with this.
- Jean-Christophe (6/5): Bof - Emplacement Space in the room
- Klára (5/5): - The location is great, the subway station is right outside the apartment. A lot of shops, restaurants, cafés and sights are within walking distance as well, as you are right in the middle of the North part of Hong Kong Island. I was messaged by the host before arriving that I will be placed at a different apartment than originally intended, which I agreed to after seeing the photos of the other place. A couple days before arriving I was messaged again to inform me that the second location was also unavailable, after which I was placed in a third apartment not far from my original booking. This room was windowless, similar setup of the shared kitchen and bathroom for 7 or 8 other bedrooms. The whole apartment had one AC unit, which barely battled the heat and humidity we were experiencing in late September. The house rules include taking out the common trash and cleaning the spaces yourself which was obviously done be the tenants with considerable reluctancy. Noise and smells from the apartment permeated the room very easily, which in turn it was difficult to air out.

- Charlotte (4/5): - location is not bad, room is small and the bed is very short but it has a small desk and the aircon kinda works. terrible smell of mould and stale cigarette smoke. shower slippery and facilities shared w too many people, who all need to clean, take out trash, etc. it's so expensive and they won't even change your sheets once a week. The check-in process etc seems superficially friendly but is just robotic copy/pasting and is also quite invasive, maybe dodgy (must send photo of passport and tickets etc). None of this is that bad except for the suffocating smell of the room, which the aircon does nothing to lessen and which I think is the reason I became sick after staying there...
- Diana (8/5): -
- Mustafa (10/5): - You are in the center and you stay without any problems, everything was fine..
Thank you to the owner of the house😇
- Jui-Han (8/5): - The location is excellent. I enjoyed walking around the neighborhood.
- Vladimir (6/5): accomodation suitable for dwarfs not for europeans - super location, close to everything got a smaller room than booked because booked room has aircon malfunction, i wasnt informed about it, bed is too small (180cm i have 188cm)
and wall to wall so not even possible to stretch, barely could turn around in the room
- Nhi (9/5): Loved our stay and Emma's hospitality! Will return if in HK again. Highly recommended! - Room is clean and comfortable. Emma was extremely helpful, provided thorough information, and communicated in a polite and friendly manner. The guests next door (who seemed to be from India) were quite noisy, chatting loudly past 1 AM despite several reminders from us. However, we understand this isn't something the host can manage.
- Ballingal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linas (9/5): Nice accommodation for few nights in HK - Very helpful and caring owner; clear guidance and instructions in advance of your arrival. Nice and well looked after property. Room was small but I guess expected in HK. Bed is was slightly too short for anyone who is 6ft or above.
- Merilin (8/5): A Real Gem in Hong Kong — Great Location, Facilities, and Price! - Overall, the location was pretty great — the subway station wasn’t too far away, and the bus stop was right in front of the building. The place had a ton of cleaning supplies, and there were lots of helpful instructions provided before and during my stay. It’s not a super touristy area, so it felt pretty "local," which I liked. Plenty of restaurants around, too. Even though I’m a light sleeper, the street noise didn’t bother me because things quieted down in the evening and stayed calm until morning. If you're a backpacker and not looking for luxury — just a place to sleep and wash up — this was more than enough. But to be honest -- this place was actually pretty luxurious for a backpacker ;) At first, it was a little tricky to find the front door — I was looking for it on Hennessy Road, but the entrance was actually on Heard Street. During winter, I’d recommend bringing some warmer clothes or indoor slippers because it can get a bit chilly (the blanket was really good, though!).
All in all, I can’t say anything too bad about it — especially considering Hong Kong’s crazy high real estate prices, this place was a great find!
- Cliff (10/5): Excellent - Location Nothing
- A-rovin’ (10/5): Great for solo/couple travellers - Owner was good with communication for checking in, transport, etc. Location is close to public transport. Wifi, hot water great. Small kitchenette for cooking. Room had a/c (but did not use), opening window and clothes hangers. Multi-socket travel adapter was thoughtful touch. Bed and bedding was quite comfortable. Price was reasonable compared with single room in hostel. Apartment with 7 bedrooms, so will depend on behaviour of co-tenants. One bathroom shared.
- Diana (5/5): Passable -
- Martin (3/5): Poor - The size of the room wasn’t as shown on the picture and there wasn't even a cupboard in the room.
Check in was horrible.
If you have the chance consider to go to another place.
- Naoto (5/5): Passable - Cheaper than others
Quick response and friendly staff
Convenient place where it’s very near from the Wan Chai St. Too small room which is just one bed and poor facilities and annoyed many instructions
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional - The placeis very clean and quite and onky few steps away from MRT station and bus stop. only 1 bus ride from the airport.
- Stratospheric (6/5): Good place but don't expect any hospitality - The guy working there is a very selfish person. In absolutely everything, he tries to turn things to his own advantage and how it's better for him. Don't expect any sense of humanity here.
Pluses:
Prime location
Excellent bathroom amenities
Clean
My room was (relatively) spacious by HK standards
Washing machine "Self check-in* procedure is complicated and tiring. They first sent me the wrong address, then another one. Then while you're tired from the road (some people had 15 hour flights!) they ask for your passport and ticket(?!!) I mean, can't that wait till the following morning??
All the meanwhile they didn't send the GPS coordinates of the exact property which doesn't pop up on Google maps.
Minuses:
Staff manners and etiquette
No drinking water
No garbage bin in the room
A/C adapter half broken
Wrongly set hot cold/water indicator on the faucet in the bathroom
Not straightforward water heating system
No towels
The table in the room is small and useless
Ridiculously early check-out.
- Un (1/5): Was the worse experience ever and didn't feel safe or comfortable at all the entire time. - It was an awful experience. It was my first time travelling alone to a place I don't even fully known the language, but it was the worse experience I have ever had. The only reason I chose this place to stay at was because of the cheap price. Now, knowing what that cheap price comes with I would rather pay a higher price than to live in such an unsafe place. So, there was nothing about the property I liked. Before I even got to the property, I received a whatsapp message from someone who manages the property to say that that property was under renovation, so I had to move to another property of hers which I agreed to in the end as they said it came with a better view, even though it was in a completely different area (but it literally doesn't make sense how this property is still shown on booking.com for rent when it isn't even available).
The night I got there it was the complete opposite to what I expected. The door was completely unlocked for anyone to just simply enter and/or leave the property. There was no such view, it was completely restricted with scaffolding and the room was extremely dusty and the bed smelt and had stained. I messaged the person in charge for a refund but to which she responded with only being able to provide yet another room change in another property of hers down the road - I agreed to that yet again, but I was packing and ready to move she then tells me I cannot move to that room as there's a leakage or whatnot, but I highly believe she had rented it out already.
There were 2 occasions I couldn't enter the property as their keypad would not display on the electronic lock so I was completely locked out in the heat for a good hour as she wouldn't respond to her whatsapp messages.
There were 2 nights I was locked out of my own room because the guy living opposite me decided to glue my key hole so I couldn't put my key into the lock. The first time, the repair man took 3-4 hours to sort out everything and this was at like 10pm and I had to get up early the next day as well. The second time was the night after. Two people came to investigate the situation as another girl's lock was also glued on the second night.
- Jingyi (10/5): Exceptional - Good location, lots of bus stations nearby. Supermarkets, restaurants, local market, stadium, all with walking distance, within 2-5 minutes. Safe environment and clean. Highly recommended.
- Paweł (9/5): Superb - I didint know that the AC in the room had ADDITIONAL TURN ON SWITCH on the socket which was covered by a curtain so I spent 2 nights without AC in the summer time which was a horrible experience. There should be some info about how to manage the AC as it is with other things there but other then that it was really nice. Although because there is no Staff present at the site some people dont follow the rules such as the one with cleaning the shower of your own hair after the shower. Each time I had a shower I had to clean up after someone first and then after myself when I finished showering.
- Sze (6/5): Pleasant - Good location
Large room (in Hong Kong standard)
Quick response from staff The room is terrible smelly... It nearly killed me when I opened the door
- Manit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophia (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect accommodation. Clean, comfortable and cozy. I could even imagine living longterm in this room. It's small and I can touch both walls without moving, but for my 167 cm there was enough space for sleeping. Blanket is European style as all the apartment equipment. It really looks 100% same like on the pictures.
It's very quiet, can't hear any neighbour's sound, neither at day nor at night.
They also have a kitchen with fridge, plates, microwave and cooking opportunity.
Restaurants (also cheap ones) are close. The bus stop to and from airport is walkable in a few minutes. 7-11 is in the same building. Internet is fast and perfect.
Advices:
- the street door name is jade house
- there's a gateman sitting behind the street door. Don't ask him anything. As the door was blocked, a Chinese couple asked him and he started yelling immediately, loud and strong with a lot of power.
- the paths inside the building can be a bit confusing but you will always find the right way.
- take the elevator to floor 9 and walk down to floor 8, as the elevator doesn't stop in floor 8
- it's not located in central Hong Kong. If you want to see the sightseeing attractions, you need to take one of the plenty busses/trams in front of the house or walk at least 30-45 minutes.
- there are a lot of shops, markets and malls walkable from the accommodation.
- checkin and checkout is via whatsapp
- everything will be answered via whatsapp and very fast (in seconds) in a very friendly, motivated and supportive tone. Perfect host
- you need to bring your own towel
- they have good quality soap, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom for all guests Towel would be amazing
- Janos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jin (8/5): Very good -
- Erwin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Faruk (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, clean room and bathroom, very kind staff. If i ever visit HK again I am definitely staying here. Rooms bit small but its a general problem for HK .
- Yoshiko (1/5): They request your passport copy in personal! - Nothing. They cancelled my booking the day before my arrival, because I refused their request for my passport copy Booking.com noticed every travellers not to pass any personal information and they broke the rule. Already reported and waiting for the refunding
- Yubin (10/5): nice place -
- Reo (9/5): Superb - Great Location. My room had a bathroom which was very helpful. The room is compact, yet if you just need the bare necessities of sleeping, you can live quite comfortably and economically in this city of Hong Kong. Stuff is caring about us so well with warm hospitality. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity to visit this international metropolis!
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Great location in Wan Chai and a few minutes away from everything a tourist could need. The owner was actively answering my questions about services. Great value and I felt really safe and at peace.
