Guest Reviews
- Divyansh (1/5): Never book this again. It’s sh**t. - Nothing First they gave us three rooms in the same building but later changed to three separate buildings with 200m and 500m apart. They didn’t have any keys for the Jade mansion. Had to face abuse from the building security guard. Their bathroom was not clean and the sink was getting clogged. Their bathroom owner’s response was pretty late. It was quite frustrating.
- Molly (4/5): If you plan to only sleep in the room, this is fine. - It felt very secure with all the e-locks, and easy to come and go. I appreciated the air-conditioning. The location was okay for getting around the city. While there is a kitchen you can use, I could not find adequate tools to make the concept of self catering appealing. I couldn't find a single plate, more than one saucepan or more than one mug. Hong Kong island can be very expensive, so this was disappointing.
There is not really any communal space, or a dining area separate from your room. Combined with the fact that I was staying in a tiny room with no windows, this made being in the hostel very isolating and uncomfortable. If you don't plan on sending much time inside, this is not an issue, however due to a typhoon warning I ended up being stuck inside for the majority of a day which was really unenjoyable.
There are other people staying in the small space for extended periods, so good luck finding room to keep you toiletries in the bathroom or groceries in the fridge. I was also kept awake a lot by other tenants coming home and cooking at 2am.
My room had a fan and lamp provided, both or which were battery powered and had charging cables that had visible signs of wear. There was one plug and an extension lead, which had signs of burning/melting on it.
In the future I would spend more to have more comfortable accommodation.
- Jorge Hevia (5/5): - Very convenient and close to everything, a small kitchen but a water kettle and microwave were provided together with cups and bowls, and of course cutlery, better than a hostel for the same price ! First off all this review is for my room only which was extremely small I couldn't fit in the bed, neither my luggage, other rooms inside the apartment are wider, the only good thing is that I had a window, the apartment is not on Hennessy Road but in heard street, what bothers me the most is that I ask the lady who contacted me and she said that was on Hennessy Road which is quite confusing, to enter the building, the apartment and the room you need different 8 digit codes, which makes it difficult to remember, I don't know what wrong with 4 digit codes, there is only one bathroom which you share with 8 more people, and the cleaning lady only comes once per week, so you could imagine the mess !!! Most of the time the bathroom was occupied, and some other guests were not so clean :( there is no living room or furniture, no towels are provided and they won't change your sheets, I was afraid every time I went to the bathroom at night, that the door would close accidentally and I'll trap myself outside since it is a long password and It took me a long time to remember it, 😔
- Charlie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ed (5/5): Passable - Location was great on Hong Kong Island and close to several transport links and the trams. Communal area was small but fine and kept reasonably clean. Communication from the host was fantastic. Very friendly, responsive, and quickly dealt with one issue in the communal kitchen that arose while I was there. The economy bunk bed room is tiny. More of a cupboard than a room! I'm not sure the pictures online entirely demonstrate how small the room is so just be aware that if you're booking this you won't have much room to get dressed or keep your things in your room. The bathroom has seen better days, cleanliness wasn't fantastic, partly due to the tenants in general but I felt this could have been better. The price of my stay also felt very steep given the size of my small room and the small size of the communal kitchen. If I'd appreciated how small my room was going to be for the cost I would not have booked this accommadation.
- Graham (8/5): It was a great solution - Clean calm and quiet easy access and easy to follow directions excellent host It was a bunk bed and the room wasn’t well cooled or ventilated.
- King (10/5): Great property in HK - Great location. Nice and tidy and the rooms actually were clean and represented the photos displayed. It was a shoebox but that's HK for you. The walls were very thin too.
- Pascua (8/5): Worth the money. - Very convenient location. A few minutes away from MTR Wan Chai Station. I hope the ac was set at a lower temperature but it was ok.
- Huynh (8/5): Good location - good location which is near by the bus, dingding station and so many Hongkong style food options around, loved the Hongkong style desert place named Tsui Yuen Dessert placed at a walking distance from the building, running by an old lady took me some time to figure out the place at the day I arrived as the entrance is at Heard street, looks like no sound insulation
- Paula (4/5): Disappointing - Location was great, close to the trams, buses and shops. Very secure building. An introduction on the whatsapp message would have been nice as I didn't know who it was messaging me, could have been anyone trying to get personal details.
Room was very small and cold, the bottom sheet grubby. The hot water did not last long for two people to use. Did not use the kitchen.
Understand that this is student accommodation (housing 7 units) but far too many rules if you are staying as a guest.
No mention of the cleaning fee on booking.com and how much this is, until you get all the house rules sent to you. This should be made clearer.
It's a basic place to rest up while enjoying the city if on a budget.
We thought the room was very overpriced for what you get. Only reason we can think of was the fact it was over Christmas.
There was no lead to charge the light on the desk and the main light too vicious at night time.
